Working ICS ROM from i9000 released! - Samsung Infuse 4G

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365884
All we need is a few devs to port it to our Infuses, but basically everything but the camcorder works! (Camera works, just no recording)

Can't wait until something is available for us to try.
infused miui

I think we would need a modified kernel to port it
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

I was playing with it a little bit earlier. Couldn't get it to even flash. I didn't look into it much though. I was going to try flashing it and then Hellraiser just for fun to see if it would work.

Hmmm maybe.... or get linux to do some reverse engenerring lol.

You would have to rewrite the updater script to even get it to flash properly before anything else

i hope someone works on this =D

ICS thoughts
I am really hoping that ICS will get ported to the Infuse, I have been running an alpha on my Inspire for the last 2 days and I really like the direction it takes Android. It will look better on the slightly bigger better Infuse screen and faster proc.
Cheers
BR

The kernels are veeeery different though (2.6.35 for GB, 3.x for ICS unless I'm mistaken) so I'm not too sure what we can do unless someone compiles one from source...........

I know someone will port it. I can see LB working on it right now. We just need to be patient and it will come.
And D, I'm sure you are also working on this. Port masta

Sorry for the delay in getting something out. Due to a specific bug and general lack of power on my main system, I've decided to set up a MONSTER build system that should build ICS in no time. The issue is, it's not wanting to install Ubuntu 64 bit. With Ubuntu 32 bit it will only show up as 8 CPUs and 2 GB of RAM (though that should be more, it's still a very small fraction of what it has). I've been trying all day to get it to install and it's been fighting me every step of the way from EFI issues to SATA III issues. Once I get it up and running I should be able to get some builds going. Stay patient!

Well, if it helps any, I've got a Fedora 15 box I do my builds on. I've got a ssh port open for it. You're welcome to use that for the time being if you'd like. It's a little older, but it builds nicely (Dual 3.2GHz Xeon, 12GB RAM).

Maybe you can do something with this: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/cm9-cyanogenmod-9-for-galaxy-s/ Remmeber our device is pretty much the same thing as this with few differences, letting hope rain on us . You guys could use that to start, just a problem is since it is related to Cyanogen mod maybe linux is a guy to contact, he will not answer my pms idk he may be gone.

We're definitely going to need a kernel developer to bring us Linux 3.x.x.x

Linux bozo could (wont answer, prob not happenin) bedwa maybe could (I think he is amature, doesn't know all tricks) ummm entropy ( loves gs2, may do it but doesn't like developing on infuse as much). That's really our only options right now. We can try em all, but def no garuntees.

Haven't messed with kernel development much at all...idk ...I think our development are cooking one up for us tho...I have faith...

ICS Ported to Captivate

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324831
It's works pretty well for it's early stage. I have it on a Captivate now and it does have some functionality. No camera, GPS seems borked, but 3G and WiFi do function. Things are looking up folks. We may actually see some Ice Cream on our phones! The Movie Studio doesn't work (for me at least, not sure about others), but it's a welcome feature once fixed. Something Android has been missing since the start. This could prolly be Hellraised, but I'd wait until more kinks are worked out. It's very Alpha at this point.
If all these other phones are getting ics ported b4 us then hope might as well be lost We don't have as much dev interest as all these other phones do.

Well, if we wait for the cappy or i9000 to get it first, basicly our infuses is the same device, just bigger and a tiny bit different. Then linux could probably port it pretty easily.
Wow!
That was fast. Infuse Kids....I think we're gonna see ICS before AT&T blesses GB!
And that would be a shame. I'm very excited. I'd love to try this out on my wife's Cappy for a spin. Will a nandroid backup successfully restore the custom GB Rom she's rocking now if I flash ICS?
WTF my old phone gets ICS before my current newer phone. I hope we get something soon.
I tried messing with it today changing the boot.img and some egl and lib files...havent got it to boot yet....im thinking we r gonna need a kernel with modified mtd partitions before we get a patially working port..

There have been more that have been locked as off topic. It seems like every day there's a new topic about someone porting ICS for another phone.
And this doesn't really mean ICS for us any more than the I9000 port did.
Regardless, I have some time off finally, so I'm working on something.

Yeah, I'm close to getting something running I think, but I'm not working on it again until Monday, sorry. I don't have a Linux dev system set up at home to work on it with, so I stick to working on it at work and I'm out until Monday.
Believe you me, ICS is worth the wait. I have it running on my Captivate.

Thanks to those who worked on Zeus

After spending about 6hrs. trying to figure out how to mod my phone, I finally got Zeus installed and freakin love it. SO much better than the stock OS. I originally didn't plan on modding my phone, but the linux tinkerer inside got the best of me. And I'm so glad I did.
Thanks to everyone whose hard work makes this possible. Much appreciated.

After spending the past 9 yrs or so having "fun" with linux on the desktop, I needed a new challenge. Now my phones(s) will be the target of my "hacking".
Again, thanks to everyone involved, I really appreciate the hard work that goes into it. Hopefully I will be able to contribute in some way. I'm not a coder, so it will have to be in the testing realm. And, after being an ubuntu tester/bug reporter since long ago, I'm more than happy to help any way I can. I'm used to things breaking.
Keep up the good work and peace. Btw dman, I live about less than an hour away from you in marietta ga.

I'm glad you asked. Nope to both questions. Have a good day.
I think there are hybrids that get close to CM7 but I doubt you will see ics, most of the developers will have upgraded phones by then so why would they bother working on it.....I think ppl are trying but it's a long shot to get to cm9

Damn really that sucks lol I shouldn't have left the mytouch 4G guess this is just Samsung screwing people in the rear with even in the 3rd party roms
Sent from my SGH-T959V using Tapatalk 2 Beta-2
There's some very good work being done towards getting CM7 working. A CM7 port using Samsung's proprietary BML partition layout is pretty close, but a CM7 port using the open source MTD layout, which is much easier to manage, is not near.
I think everyone would prefer, for the ease of simplicity of future porting efforts, to get MTD functioning on the SGS4G before tackling CM9/ICS.
I'm working on an ics hybrid now... I've got it to boot but still very unstable. It reboots about every 10 seconds or so... just have patience...

Oooo.... I want to hang out at your Github.
Every time I see one of these threads, I wonder why anyone wants ics or cm# so badly. VB rocks enough for me... Can't see ics being that much better. Just my opinion.

Hi P06o
It's not that our ROMs don't rock, it's just that they're not perfect. They have their issues and they are full of Sami ****, not included in AOSP ROMs such as ICS, CM7/CM9. These ROMs are faster and lighter, not to mention having bigger customization and locality support.

I'm a one man wolf-pack. Other phones have many developers. A few people are helping out, but forward progress still takes time.
The phone is newer then the vibrant. Not even sk4g has ics. It takes time to make software work correctly.
I would be more curious of what your old login was...

Never fear CM10 is near

Arcee just answered a tweet & said CM10 is near, and should be ready in a couple of days
Edit: he was referring to the P990 though I'm not sure about the P999
Even if the p990 gets it first, we still should get it a few days later. We only have a few differences that RC should be able fix

According to ProTekk, I think he's part of the AOKP team, you should be good, here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1485861 he says minimum dual-core with 4Gbs of RAM.
I have a spare computer with intel core2 duo and 4Gbs of RAM and it compiles from source with no problem. I have noticed that it's slower without my SSD though. You'll probably need at least 120Gbs of hard drive disk space as I was having a lot of trouble with 64Gbs (in Ubuntu that is)
Hope this helps

hdmi merge with jb kernels?

surely im not the only one thats thought of this? is there a way to merge hdmi functionality with a jelly bean kernel?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
IIRC, to "merge" functionality of HDMI, the drivers have to written up from from scratch. The only roms to have it, I may be wrong, were stock roms, or roms based on stock.
ok so this would takes tons of rom writing knowledge and time lol no wonder anyone would want to tackle it. except maybe a major corporation who would pay someone to do it. im geussing you couldnt take a stock rom and basically copy most of the code to another rom? i mean "copy " by writing similar code into the newer rom to get it to work.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
really thats all that really keeps me from running all the jellybean flavors on my phone. if someone took the time lol they would probly already have came up with a newer version of rom by the time it got done. oh well too bad im not a coder lol.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium
In theory, everything is possible. But honestly, for this to happen, we need Adam outler, entropy, and some others to get this done. You would have to get hardware info, and have tons of spare time to do it
