really i got the kernel running as well. still gotta work on factoryfs and cache isnt really important.

Yea...I got the kernel...I just don't have that much experience with the kernels yet...I got cache.rfs extracted but stuck on factoryfs.rfs...lol

And I'm running this modem right now and I have to say my speeds are quick...haven't tested cause I'm on wifi now...but I will soon
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using xda premium

i haven't tested beyond flashing and seeing if it boots and connects. the kernel is working over kk3 as is the modem. the factoryfs well ill see if anything can be extracted from it. but i dont know what advantage that'll have over just running kk3 if any.

Just flash this modem and data connection seems faster. Specially since i live in an atomic bomb shelter, anything that gets good data connection is good for me

Just a fair warning that this gave me the worst battery life I've ever seen. It drained 5% in 5 minutes after flashing, so I reverted back to kk3

You can't really make any kind of decision on battery life unless you let it run on it for a few days. I've started with horrible battery life before, but then it usually even itself out in the end.

Right. Five minutes is barely any time to get a fair assessment. I would recommend atleast 3-4 days before arriving at one.

I also got fast battery drain right after flashing. Gave it a reboot and a few hours later, battery has only gone down 2%.
Just needs a reboot. Then your good to go.

Thank you. I wasn't aware that modems needed to settle in, and I will try it out again. I just have not had an issue with drain that bad before

This modem is the best that i've tried in southern california... My dl speeds on the speed test app have been between 3.5 - 6.5!

woohoo... I stole your modem and added it to the list of modems in my modems list thread... thanks dman

I'm just trying to figure out why only Gingerbread has bad wifi. Froyo didn't in my experience.

Froyo was offical. It had all the bugs worked out. Gingerbread have all been leaks so my guess is that it is still being worked on. At least i am hoping this is the case because this wifi does just suck.
Sent from my SGH-T959V using xda premium
The obvious response would be: read or search whats been posted before asking an already covered question. Though id like to know, really what is it that's different in GB to cause this?
Also the wifi is not that bad, it works for home use, you flash back to Froyo if its that much a problem.

Why does it matter? Knowing the reason for it is pretty useless imo.

whats the best modem?

hey guys whats the best modem for our phone?
Modems vary based on your location. KJ3 may be good in good in one state and bad in the next (not literally scaling like that, but just an example).

Ki3 is best for me

KI3 gives me the biggest range.
However I lately noticed it sometimes gets idle after no usage.

I downloaded all of them, and used each for a whole day, testing both wifi and network speeds various times throughout the day until i landed on the one that worked best for me.

As raver said its different for everyone. You have to test them out for yourself to find which is best for your area and setup.

Good modems with miui

So im still a little new about this but im getting more and more n to it. Loving the miui rom. But after hearing good things about! modems" I'd like to flash one. Any suggestions??
Sent from my SGH-I997 using xda premium
People have different experiences depending on location. One may get better service than another person. So flash away. Test each modem for a couple days or so.

Any modem will work for any rom. Even miui. I'm currently on the i3 because it's giving me the best service right now. Haven't tested the newer ones yet

I get my best speed and latency with UCKJ2. The majority, from what I've seen, stick with I3 and the more adventurous seem to also like J2.
KK1 kicks but for me

On a quick note.just disable automatic time then re enable and your time and date are correct

its nice and really fast , but it limits the characters number in one text message when i write in arabic or it will fail to send... so i had to go back to the stock ( rogers )
Not a significant change in data, but GPS is an immediate lock!

[Modem] T959VUVKG6

My current daily driver modem. Technically it's a SGS4G modem but works extremely well for me and I thought I'd share it.

Data speeds are consistent with the UCKJ1 modem I was running. Wi-Fi works great, no issues so far. And I'm not having the error sending msgs over 160 characters like I am with all the latest leaked Infuse modems.
Flashed, so far its fine I'll let it settle and see how it does.

Yes, it can have the clock glitch, but otherwise its the best.
Beside the clock glitch, anyone has problem with GPS (like ... very slow lock in)?
