Almost!
Here's hoping TMo and whoever else will bring it to us as well.

well it doesnt show the g2x is gonna get it. plus they will probably take forever to get ics on the O2X

The way it went down with gb, it will just be a themed status bar with laucher, NVIDIA never again!

Are you kidding? Stock Gingerbread was a huge improvement over Froyo.

i agree. they never mentioned the g2x. and for the people who are saying because is coming to the optimus 2x. dont get all excited these are 100% different phones. remember that we got gb before them. so if there an update for the 2x it doesnt automatically means that it does to the g2x.

I am so tired of saying this, but here I go again. The G2X is an Optimus 2X device. To LG it is a 2X. The Optimus 2X line includes the P990, SU660 and the P999. The G2X badging was only for T-Mobile to continue their line of "G" high-end Android devices (i.e., G1, G2, G2X). It was easy for them and LG to just add a "G" to the front of the 2X name. That is why the P999 in Canada is a 2X. Only T-Mobile is allowed to use the G2X name. It is a proprietary name for T-Mobile only. It will get ICS so stop fretting about it already.

Seeing as the O2x and G2x are basically identical hardware wise minus the radios I'm sure the drivers and such can be applied to our phone to give us a fully functional build.

LG must release the drivers from my understanding. According to the ICS thread, that is what nVidia is claiming.
I have no worries. We will have ICS soon enough thanks to the great people on XDA.

From my understanding I thought the difference between the g2x and the o2x is that T-Mobile has the USA version and the o2x is the Canadian/etc version so they.are basically the same phone they just run under different radios isn't that true?

The Canadian version is exact same as G2x (Model P999) but it is called Optimus 2X. O2x is European model and has different radio (Model P990?).

That's what I'm saying so there is no.major difference then because the way alot of people make it seem like they are two different phones

They have different file structures. TMobile G2X = WIND Optimus 2X which are LG-P999. Optimus 2X everywhere but Canada = LG-P990. Anyone who has flashed the LG-P990 update to the LG-P999 has messed up their phone. The LG-P990 appears to have better support from LG than the LG-P999. Why? No one knows.

You are right that makes no sense I don't know why either it shouldn't be more support for the other phone while the other phone has no support at all. Both phones are made by the same company regardless of the file structures they both should get the same support

Considering Getting This

I'm sure you've had several threads on this, but should I return my Galaxy S 4G for the G2x? Is that big a boost in performance? I love stock Android, hate Touchwiz, but the Galaxy S has an amazing screen. Also, does the app Wiimote Controller work with the G2x?
Huge boost in performance. The G2x works like "butter" as many have been saying. G2x's screen is amazing, some are saying it's one of the best on the market right now and even outshines some of Samsung's screens. Wiimote does not work YET due to LG adding in their own bluetooth stacks into the phone instead of the more common ones, however it's generally believed that a ROM (Probably Cyanogen) or a software mod will fix the issue. Hope this helps!

I exchanged my Galaxy S. for the T-Mobile G2X. Yes, the screen is a big change, the Galaxy has a much better screen. But after about 10 days, I've forgotten the difference and was really enjoying the speed increase of the G2X. If you think you can get over the change in the screen, go for it, if you don't, you better stick with the the galaxy S or wait for the galaxy S II coming out soon.

This was my first LG phone. While the hardware is great, the official software sucks. The way LG handled GB was lame, and they way they are handling this is lame, it's like they don't want customers to buy another one of their phones in the future. Well, I guess my next phone is going to be HTC or Samsung.

Yeah, this is my last LG phone.... back to Samsung or HTC for me and pawn this phone off to the girlfriend...
I've been lucky and not had any issues with my phone ...even when I was on the stock froyo rom. We ended up with a working GB rom from the cm team months before an official one was released. I'm sure if its possible someone will port ICS to our phones. If your one of those that doesn't flash roms and will only install stock roms from the manufacturers then you prob should only be buying nexus phones to insure upgrades, or you shouldn't be using android at all and buy an iphone.

The only way to tell LG that the "F" up is to stop buying LG phones.
It will take efforts from everyone to start telling friends and family not to buy LG phones and to go somewhere else. Get the movement going.......NO MORE LG! LOL
I think by making this move LG has messed up bad. Even if cm9 is released it will never take the full advantage of our tegra dualcore processor. LG must provide their version of ICS so that the cm team can improve our version.

Just saw this and even though I no longer have this phone I'm still pissed (cuz my brother does have it).
First a POS 2.3 update and now this slap in the face. This phone is probably one of the most Epic Fails that I've seen (software), as far as hardware it would still run circles around some of these new phones out including my SGS2.
Unfortunately it will never see it's full potential thanks to Nvidia for not releasing their source and LG for not updating it.
Yeah, these great devs can port any future updates, but it will never work to it's full potential.
Needless to say that I've learn my lesson and I will never buy an LG phone again. I'll stick to HTC and Samsung(which I hope they improve their track record).
Of course there will be ICS for us. CyanogenMod is comprised of some pretty freaking smart developers.
Did you seriously not see this coming? It took LG months to get the 2.3 update out the door and even then it shipped with a FroYo kernel. While the answer sucks, I give them credit for being upfront about it in their communication. That's more then can be said about how they handled the issues when the phone first came out. I got a G2X on launch day and returned it during the remorse period. I left T-Mobile over the experience.
They just deleted that comment ><

Unfortunately, as any Vibrant user will tell you, without an official release, CM will only work half-assed.
I just read that as well and I did not like it at all.
I think we need some how to request a promptly official comment/update on this matter from LG (LG Dev Team, LG Customer Care Dept, LG Folks, LG Product Pro, SmartPhoneGeek).
For me, if I do not hear any official positive LG commitment to their best Smartphone, I will be throwing the towel and asking my money back, because you guys have failed big with your own and with your Customers as well.
By the way, how is the Class Action Lawsuit going?

Optimus 3D Cube - a slightly slimmer sequel

Well the Optimus 3D sequel is finally official and it will be called Optimus 3D Cube. If you ask me specs aren't too impresive. A dual core 1.2 GHz, 16GB of inbuilt memory, 9.6mm thick, Dual 5mpx camera, 4.3" screen, Android 2.3 and that's all that's known for now. Sounds more like a mainstream device than a high-end phone. No word on the amount of RAM yet.
EDIT: Here it will be called Optimus 3D Max. And there's more info about the phone too. Screen resolution is 480x800, TI OMAP4430 CPU, 1GB of RAM etc. Look here http://www.phonearena.com/news/LG-O...cial-glasses-free-3D-just-got-slimmer_id27124

I was seriously thinking in selling my O3D and getting this one (yeah, LG again!?!?) IF AND ONLY IF:
1-Ice Cream Sandwich from the box,
2-1GB RAM
3-Bigger resolution screen
4-1700mA Battery or more
Seems RAM is 1GB, but 800x600, 1500mA and they put Gingerbread again ("but we promise you ICS ASAP bla bla bla")...
So, good job LG: I stay with my Optimus (and maybe I'll move to Samsung if Galaxy S3 has 3D, as rumoured).
And for the record:
DEAR LG MORONS: NOBODY CARES IF THIS NEW CRAP IS 1 nanometer slimmer and 1g lighter than O3D. THE PROBLEMS OF O3D ARE NOT WEIGHT OR THINNESS, BUT SOFTWARE AND BASEBAND. ARE YOU LISTENING, LG MORONS?
In terms of software, Android 2.3 Gingerbread is what comes out of the box, but an Ice Cream Sandwich update will be released shortly after the smartphone's launch.

I am 99.9% we are not getting Official ICS for G2x

Tmonews is reporting the ICS updates in the near future. The only devices mentioned are GS2, Amaze, and Sensation. I was pretty sure we weren't getting it before but now I am almost positive that we are not. Perhaps if the O2x gets it then we can port it over.
I am waiting to see when will the Galxy Note or Galaxy S3 come to T-mobile. If the date is too far away(We are always that last to get anything) then I am getting a $399 Galaxy Nexus.

If T-mobile had plans for it, why would they move forward in production of newer model phones? Oh, and the reason HTC sensation is getting it is because they make money on it. The G2x is falling behind in the market where everyone wants the Galaxy series (say hello to the galaxy blaze and the soon GS3) or HTC. If no one's been paying attention(and I doubt anyone does) HTC, G series, Samsung, and apple are the sellers. Not Lg, not pantect, not any company thats been a waste of funds for the last 2 decades of cell phones. But again, you know, ROMS aren't official, but they're only thing your G2x will get ICS with. So, yeah. Go cry in a corner now that you know LG hates you.

What the hell does "=/=" mean? Are you squinting at me?

Oh thanks a lot for the explanation captain obvious, hence the topic title being "I am 99.9% sure we are not getting official ICS."
I don't quite understand who is "bashing" anyone in this thread.

As long as the O2X gets an official ICS update from LG, then we'll be fine.
Interesting post from the O2X thread, regarding ICS update:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426191
Maybe an incompetent LG representative (since the Wind "O2X" is a G2X without the Tmobile logo) or on the contrary.

No ICS for the G2x

Not including any neutered roms we might get (no video drivers = half functioning phone), it seems that T-Mobile has finally sounded the death bell on ICS on the G2x...
from T-Mobile on facebook
T-Mobile USA Sorry for the mix up. Lg did confirm that the G2x would not get ICS. ^AS

why would they want to when t-mobile doesnt even sell their phone anymore
No surprise
But that just verifies what everyone suspected...we'll have to rely on the O2x....
Thought this was already known awhile o.o

It wasn't as of January LG said yes, they would. Last month they pushed the update from Q2 to Q3, now they are in fact saying a flat out no ICS for G2x.

Maybe I am missing something, but once the O2X gets ICS, can we not somehow get its video drivers for the G2x?

Yes that's not a problem, this thread is kinda pointless especially without a link of this guys info... even then we have at least 8 other threads about the exact topic.

That's fair enough, but not big news to hear anymore, if the O2X gets it we are good, its everyone else that suffers!

If the O2x was getting it, so would the G2x as the only difference is the way the internal drives are partitioned. O2x will be cancelled as well, every major hardware manufacturer that has a Tegra 2 Harmony chip has said that those phones will not be getting ICS. You can bet that the O2x will not get it as well.
Confirmed Again No ics for G2x

That's not the only difference, T-Mobile USA is involved with G2X lol, the O2X isn't.

The thing with all this is that both companies screwed us over. In my case, I bought a high end android device a year ago expecting it to last me the 2 year contract I was signing with a phone company that would also be good. 13 months later, I read that even with a phone, that spec wise is still great, I won't be able to experience what is being offered by android because the manufacturer simply doesn't care anymore and I have to rely on modification and root to get what I paid for in hard earned cash? and to top it all off, T-Mobile begins charging me for tethering that when I signed the contract was listed as a feature that was included. This is why android, phone companies and all the manufacturers are going to ****. As a consumer we have to put up with all this and go through having to pay for new devices that have the latest "version" because the manufacturers don't want to spend time on a device they have already profited from even though it is fully capable of being up to par with most new devices. XDA, Rootzwiki and all the great people of the shared android community make this bearable, yet it is beginning to not be enough that we have to void a warranty in order to be content. I am tired of this and with the G2x being my 8th android device in 5 years of android I am just done with the same story every time.

It's ridiculous how they tease us
Android smart phones make dummies out of us.

Realistically, LG can only upgrade the international O2x if they make a small attempt, the G2x has to be tested & "approved" by T-Mobile and they're too lazy to do that (they deceptively make it sound like it's completely dependent on LG). So our best hope is to get the O2x's drivers working for a CM9 or AOKP build for the G2x.
I really am iffy about switching to the new 21y update. Should i dive? Or is it a stupid update?
Please LG release ics, your our only hope!

If you use GPS go for it then use CM7.2 RC3.
Though if you're fine and don't have any problems like me, stick with what you got.
