I've tried to repeatedly update to 2.3.6, forever every time it tells me i'm up to date. I'm running the stock OS, restored from Odin and rooted with zerg rush. I've cleared days on the device management app and still no love. I don't want to use the flashable update since its not complete. Any ideas?

I can't get mine to OTA either. I'm 100% stock except for being rooted, but even before rooting I couldn't get it to update.
No your only option is to wait and see if u get the update. Connect to wifi when u check for the update
. Or flash the zip it is complete just does not change your baseband
i think they pulled the 2.3.6 update.. who knows why.

Yeah people keep reporting there phone not having the ota. My question is are you guys checking for.the ota while your connected to wifi? If not. Connect to wifi then check

Please and report if it worked or.not.
I got my skyrocket last week and updated instantly. My friend got one yesterday and will not see the update. I have tried it about 20 different times, so maybe the did pull the update for some reason.
Did your friend try while connected to wifi? For folks who have yet to receive the update in the status bar above, you might want to take the manual route. I am quite sure that the majority of you already know how to do that, but for those who do not know and are rather green to the entire setup, here is how you get going – first of all, pull down your phone’s Menu, head on to Settings and then Software Update. Select Check For Updates, and you ought to be able to see the Over The Air (OTA) update begin. Make sure you have a full battery and are connected to a Wi-Fi network to make it as painless as possible!

I dumped my system to a dev he made a rom out of it for tmobile sgs2. I changed the build prop and apps back to at%t so there is a 2.3.6 rooted rom. It just does not update the modem.. but ive asked a dev to help me make a modem update zip to flash... but heres the rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1361144
I called at&t today asking them why I haven't gotten the 2.3.6 update yet and the answer I got was priceless. First he stated that at&t releases the update in batches and I probably just haven't gotten there yet which I was fine with. But then he went on to say I should be getting another update after that to... wait for it... 3.1 honeycomb. At this point I hung up. I'd love to hear what answers anyone else gets from at&t.

but on a side note, it appears the load was pulled. If I had to guess they saw reports in these very forums of users not loosing root when doing the OTA update. I bet the next ROM or push addresses that since the ROM itself appears to block the zergrush exploit we use to root this device. That is just a guess.
I've read someone reported problem with screen being turned all the way up after batter dropped 10 or 5%, and some other weird problems. Perhaps that's the reason for the pull?
says a patch is available but servers are busy
I'm european and my unlocked phone said servers are busy try again later, then slapped a 24hours cooldown till the next check
Only a factory reset reset the 24 hours cooldown (people suggested setting the date but nevermind)
Anyone tried the OTA update outside the US ?
Thanks
JD
You can always adjust the date forward and recheck... or date back then check if you're checking for the first time...

Yea mine won't find the update either even on wife. Lol AT&T had to be the worst customer service experience I've had. Took over 2 hours to update two phones.
tried with wifi also, no update

in the same boat as you guys...been pushing the date forward so i can check a couple times a day while on wifi, with full charge, and plugged in but still haven't found any updates.
does anybody know if they pulled the update? i've read a few different things regarding this...
I found that if you use SQLite Editor on the Device Management Database. Then open the fumo table and the change the lastupdatetime field to 0 it will reset the 24 hour cooldown.

No gps fix?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Mention of GPS strangely absent.
been running JH7 since it came out with SRE.
WTF is this? JH7 doesn't fix GPS nor does it come close!
(battery life is AMAZING THOUGH!)
Well, since GPS is not mentioned, I doubt this is meant as the fix for GPS issues...
But it IS a good sign that AT&T is actually working on our device, since they are releasing this FW to the public.
Very odd. They guaranteed a GPS fix by end of Sept. We already have used JH7 and it doesn't fix our GPS. I can't imagine them putting out another update before the end of September...
Is it possible that the update from AT&T will somehow include more file update or be different from the JH7 version that we have? Beyond that, I can't understand how they are finally releasing an update but NOT fixing the biggest issue. Especially since they apparently fixed it on the Vibrant and know how to fix it.
Looks like I got it. I definately have to test Exchange now. Maybe it'll work properly.

Check the GPS....
actually, before I get too crazy, let me verify something:
I had JF6, I made a backup image using ROM Manager/Clockwork Mod. I then applied the JH7 found here, had problems (no sideloading), and restored the image. I am ASSUMING that put me back on Baseband JF6, but I don't remember checking afterwards.
Is it possible that the JH7 I have is left over from my manual update? I don't wanna lie to everything thinking I got the official push and really didn't.

You can flash back to JF6...
I will do it if need be but it will have to wait until tonight.
My GPS works fine and I have none of the other issues that this is supposed to fix, so I couldn't tell you whether the update will fix those or not.

They are pushing it, but you should be able to get it if you search for updates and your phone meets the criteria...
I'm running a backup now. I'm need to test a few things. I just happened across this thread and had a quick look at my basband number and it shows JH7. I *should* be stock. But that assumes that when I restored back to my original image, it also restored JF6
I'll get back with you. I don't feel like I'd be one of the lucky ones to get the update first (unless it goes by purchase date, I did get mine early).
LOL...fail. I went to check for update, said no update and that I can not check for another 24 hours. WTF? why cant I check for updates when I want.
Noob question: Is it necessary to un-root and un-lagfix before attempting to download or install this update?

Me too, lol, I'm already running JH7 that was leaked. According to the AT&T site they are looking at your firmware version and that's how they determine who's getting it.
Hmmm, debating if this update is even worth it. Doesn't fix GPS, and it's not Froyo
OTA update process usually takes days or weeks. It pushes in batches so that only limited number of phones will download the update so that the update server don't get overloaded. No, maunally check for update does not speed the process up at all or change your position in the queue. Basically, you have to wait for your turn.
Sooner or later someone will figure out the URL to download the update directly. Only when that happens, you can go and download the update and manually put that file to internal SD card, boot the phone into recovery mode and apply the update.
If that's too much work for you, wait for your turn.

same question here. Anyone know if I'll lose root/non-market apps if I apply this update?
One thing I did notice about the leaked version was the new YouTube app styling. I kinda liked it. Came in handy at the gas pump.
I'm downloading a new software update . I had already installed the last update.
edit
When I say last update I meant the one with the GPS fix.
What else could this be besides froyo ?

Something funny happen, the update didnt install and now I cant check for another one.

It keeps failing, so I dont know what this is .

Is your phone rooted? Showing symptoms associated with.
AGAIN
Yeah I have no idea what this update is ? This is like the 5th time it failed on me, so forget it.
I am rooted.
When I got the update, I had just gotten the phone. The update went through just fine, the day after I rooted my phone. So maybe rooting had something to do with it. I don't see how that could effect it but maybe.
I think it's time you detach the umbilical cord to the OTA update Update using Clockwork. (Just a suggestion).
Just thought I would run the LG software update wizard on my PC, with the phone plugged in. My G2X is INSTALLING IT RIGHT NOW!!!
OH PLZ PLZ PLZ let this rock... Has anyone else seen, done this yet?
I just took a screenshot and added it! I'm backing up my phone now... Will post, but it's lookin like Gingerbread is OFFICIALLY HERE.
WOOT!!!!
DAMMIT... it changed it mind, and says my phone is up to date... Sorry guys. What a damned beating.
Let is know if you do actually get the update.
But, I'm a little wary that there is actually one. I've had this same update screen come up on me twice within the last couple of weeks, and it ultimately came back and told me that I had the latest version. I just checked again and it says that my phone has the latest version.
The Cell phone is the latest version already. So you don't need to update.
Please update the moment you're finished.

that is correct, for an unknown reason they pulled the update. It was only available for like 5 days =(
nobody knows the changes in 2.3.6 and nobody knows why they pulled the update either =(
Those who are not aware of the fact that the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket is delivered with Android 2.3.5 will be surprised when they receive an update notification that will allow them to upgrade their smartphones to version 2.3.6.
Although the carrier is still mum about the update, AndroidCentral reports that lots of Galaxy S II Skyrocket owners started to receive it in the last 24 hours.
No word on what's changed after the update, but those who upgraded noticed that it keeps root and boot-up seems a bit faster.
In addition, the speed of the new radio firmware on HSPA has been improved, and several changes on the camera interface have been included as well.
What's certain is that Android 2.3.6 fixes a Google Voice Search bug. Other than that AT&T may have squeezed several tweaks and possibly a few more performance improvements.

I am in the same boat. I have heard that carriers will often roll out updates to only a certain range of IMEIs over a period of time to reduce bandwidth/server constraint... usually one batch per week until all the IMEIs are white listed.
I do not know if this is the reason many of us (myself included) are unable to update, but I consider it possible.

Just got off the phone with at&t tech , they told me the update was pulled out then re-released but based on market to market basis, so all i can do is just sit & wait till my phone tells me its there or just keep checking every 24 hours , as of what the update changes they couldnt tell me because simply they have no idea what does it fix they just know that its live , thank you all for the help if anyone knows what does that update fixes please let me know , thank you all for all your help
They probebly pulled it because of all the white screens everyone was getting. All Stock, and rooted alike.
I wont touch it unless it has something in it worth the update.

Exactly. With the exception of the removal of CIQ (which we can disable anyways), there's really nothing that the update has to offer
This old thread was in refrence to the other 2.3.6 update att started then pulled. It was kk1
Lol so the new ucla3 is there second time ...hmmmm
I ended up buying the TriangleAway v2.55 from the play store on my GT-P3113 after updating it to jb from ics in kies last week. Well I had rooted it so when I went looking for OTA updates it showed modified and gave the error that it was not supported etc etc so I got the Triangle away and searching on here found the thread over in " Samsung Galaxy S II I9100 > Galaxy S II Original Android Development > [2013.01.10][ROOT] TriangleAway v2.55 " that deals with it. A search of the posts there did not deal with update hangs that I could find. Being a nooblet at android (ask me about palm WebOS 2.0 and I can give you an earful from a jaded dev about that whole fiasco), and having just started rooting my htc incredible a year or so ago to get more apps to work, I need some help. got the tab 2 7.0 wifi for christmas from the family. Having not nearly enough posts to submit this in a dev forum where the original thread is, and with the OP not taking tech support questions through PM on there (per his sig) I figured I should post it over here.
I did the above, everything works fine. Now it shows a counter of 0 and the supported firmware. BUT I click on check for updates under settings > about > and it hangs there with the circle going for hours. I left it running earlier and came back to it still in duh mode. it works to cancel. Also on a separate, but annoying note, noticing since the update that my sound seems to get pauses in it while reading and listening to music or surfing the web will get little hiccups for a quarter second in songs. Ive tried with power saving on and off, and uninstalling some extra apps to see if that would help but still does it. ALSO, how do I get back my fat status bar at the top so I don't almost have to pull the tablet out of its case to get the bar to come down? like I said sorry for posting here but didn't know where else to post.
John
???
After going thorugh your post i am confused !! Can you post the questions one by one in bulleted points ?
After using triangle away is it normal for the searching for updates to just hang with the circle showing?
Is there any way to get the status/notification bar larger so it is easier for fat fingers to pull down/hit?
Is it normal for the sound to pause for a half second during normal operation of the tablet as my htc incredible phone has never done that other than from a flaky ROM?
Why is it that I get "•To prevent spam to the forums, new users must wait five minutes between posts. All new user accounts will be verified by moderators before this restriction is removed" when I try to update my own post when I've been a member since 2011? lol

If you are updated to 4.1.1, that is the newest ota for our tab. It is a little confusing that you are trying to update to something newer this way, and not getting it, because you can't. Are you doing this because your partitions are still worked from rooting it? If this is the case, I would recommend downloading the latest firmware, and flashing it in Odin. This will lose root and your partitions problems.(hopefully) After that, use cf autoroot, the make a backup. From this point, you should be good to go. I haven't look into your kernel (Q) yet. I didn't tell you to do this earlier, because it is a hassle, and was hoping to find an easy fix for your problems. At any rate, as many problems as your having, refreshing firmware would give you a do over fresh. Hope this helps, and happy flashing.
