I have cm7 downloaded on my infuse and I love the camera on that, but I wanted a tw4 rom so now I am on Max Q and I tried installing the camera.APk from the /app directory from the cm7 zip and when I tried to use it it would go back to the stock camera. How do I go about replacing the stock?

Did you try using a root file manager to backup the Camera.apk, then renaming the CM7 camera apk to Camera.apk and copying it to /system/app?
Yeas and I only had force closes on it

I haven't tried it, but since it's a ripped apk, you can't just run it from the phone. Copy it to system/app using Root Explorer, make sure all the permissions are checked, reboot your phone and maybe it will work.
EDIT: MIUI is AOSP, so probably won't work on Sense, although I'm not sure about that because it's only a file explorer app
It installs on CM7 without error, but its nowhere to be found in the app drawer. I tried rootexplorer install to system/app with no luck...

I couldn't stand the stock gallery so i uninstalled it and now i can't change my lock screen? So i went to titanium backup to restore it and it can't because it has a check mark next to wich means it just backedup the data not the app so i long pressed it and selected search market and downloaded/installed it and its the same version and it even let me restore the data for it but i still cant change the lockscreen it just force closes when i got to settings/display/wallpaper/lockscreen/gallery. I also noticed its now a user app before it was a system app i think, would that matter? Any ideas let me know, thanks.

You have to copy the app into system/app then install...that worked for me for another apk I needed installed into system

Where does the market install the apps i cant find it? And do i just copy the apk and paste to system/apps?

Ok i tried putting the gallery. Apk file i got from google in the system/app folder then installing it but it just installs it to /data/app. I also tried copying the installed file in /data/app to system/app but it still force closes when i try to set a lockscreen wallpaper. Is there a way to install a user app as a system app? Maybe if i cant get this to work ill just re-odin i guess.

Try to push the. Apk you got into system/app folder the reboot don't install it.
If that doesn't work after reboot, then install it

Well it worked as far as just pushing the apk into system/app and now its installed as system app but it still force closes so im just going to reflash. Thanks for the help though.

Why do I show a bunch of apps in the download folder too?
My bad. Those are ones that I copied there.
What a dummy, I've ben up for 17hrs.
Lol. That's how I get to bro with no sleep. Usually with htc phones anything you download goes to your download folder...except if you download from your HTC mail it will be in downloads folder. If you download from your xda app a file attached to a post it will be in a tapatalk folder. This is your card Im taking about. Any app installed to your phone from the market will be in data/ app
System apps can be installed by flashing or adb push

apk file
I wanted to increase the battery life on my wife's rooted Infuse to increase battery life. I read that faux123's Kernel and script are supposed to be the best and compatible with ALL Samsung Rooted Stock and Custom ROMs
For reference I'm including the links:
Faux's Kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1437563
FauxClock app by roman:
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/4550-app09-beta-snapdragon-dual-core-oc-control/page__st__30
My question is where do I put the apk file (FauxClock-0.9.apk):
1. Internal sdcard (sdcard/download)
2. /data/app
3. system/app
Does it even matter where I put that apk file? Thanks for the help.
System/app

Hi,
I accidentely deleted the messaging.apk using titanium backup, but i restored it because I can't read my messages using other messaging apps. But the titanium backup is just stuck at the "restoring" screen. Can someone provide the stock mms.apk for LG Thrill 4G?
Also, can i just install this .apk, or is there anything else I have to do to get it back to stock?
Thanks

Download my ROM
Extract the .zip file
Inside system/app you will find the mms.apk
Using root explorer copy it inside your phone system/app
Give it permission 755 and ownership 0,0=root root
Install it
