[Q] What do I need to make CIFS work? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hello.
I'm using stock 2.3.5 and would like to get access to some network shares on my home network.
When CIFSManager try to mount a network share it returns error: "out of memory"
Does anyone know what is wrong?
Thank you.

Evidently it requires something changed in kernel. Installed .41 kernel and now it's working.

I use the free version of AndSMB

[Q] Cifs Manager help

Does anybody have cifs manager working and able to mount their shared network drive? I tried pushing two different cifs.ko modules using adb.. but when I go try to mount my network drive I get "no such device". Neither one seems to work. I'm using the tiamat 1.4.1 kernel.
My NAS drive is shared, I'm able to access it on any other computer through the web, so I know that part should be fine.
Please help!
update:
I reflashed the 1.4.1 kernel and it seems to be recognizing the cifs.ko file now, because now I'm getting a different error when trying to mount:
When I only put admin as the username, I get "permission denied", but when i try to put the password in for my NAS, it says "no such device or address".

[Q] Openvpn issues on LG G2x other than cyanogen

I am having problems with openvpn and I would really appreciate any help that I can get. I was not able to make openvpn work on Eagle Blood rom. Here are the steps I used. I installed binary file at the system/xbin using the openvpn installer from the market. I then created a folder at the root of sdcard and named it openvpn. I placed in the folder the configuration files. I then downloaded and installed openvpn settings from the market and tried to connect to openvpn. It would connect to the server (a small key would appear on the top of the screen and says connected) but data would not be tunneled through the vpn. My real IP address would still show while connected to vpn.
BTW, I flashed cyanogenmod 7 nighties #53 and it worked. I use simple mobile and data does not work with cyanogen since the APN needs to manually configured and with all the APN issues going on with cyanogen at this time, I would prefer to use another rom that would support openvpn.
Thanks in advance and I apologize in advance if I posted this at a wrong place. I am new to XDA forums.

[Q] cifs on note pro

I have not rooted (yet) but when I run a 'cat /proc/filesystems' I do not see any form of cifs in there. Can anyone confirm if there is any means of cifs support to access network shares?

Click to collapse
I'm rooted and use ES Explorer to browse shares on my Lan.
Don't know if it's useful for you or if you want to use native commands ...

SMB Shares (Lollipop)

Has anyone been able to mount SMB shares under Lollipop using CIFSManager or something similar? I want to mount a SMB share as a local folder so all applications can access it. If you've been able to do this please share how.
First step is to install a kernel that supports it. Stock kernel does not. Check the development section for a cifs enabled kernel.
Mounting the share will likely be a bigger challenge, though I cold be mistaken.
