Works on Liquid 2.1, thanks man .
Could you post some other Ally stuff, like the weather widget, just to try.
EDIT: The widget is really cool, people should try this.
EDIT 2: There's one thing not working: Settings of the app. I don't think it's a bug, there's probably another Ally apk which contains the Socialite app settings.
Deleted by me.
Any thing else we can get from it...

is it possible to change the resolution for use on the hero?
nevermind .mak is working on a workable version for HVGA devices
To those who have tried this app on an appropriate sized device (480x800, 480x854, etc), does the facebook tab work as it should? Does it update with your facebook profile picture at the top of the widget, and when you click said picture, does the "Update your profile" box pop up?
This information will be VERY helpful to me, thank you!

The widget doesnt like landscape on my droid.

widget seems to fit perfectly on my nexus
Can someone post a few screenies of some of the cool widgets that work on other devices? That messaging app looked kinda cool.
Mh, I keep getting "unable to connect to the SNG server" when trying to login
I basically use this app only for the amazing widget that it comes with. It's great. The app itself force closes on my droid like crazy, so I don't use that.
are you able to pull that awesome weather widget?
thanks
Can't someone talented extract DivX support from this? ... and port it to the Nexus One?

Is it me or do I alway have to update Twitter / Face manually? I doesn't seem to update the feeds automatically. And since there is no way to get to the settings screen I can't see if there is an auto-sync feature.
Anyone else has this issue?
This is the only thing that I've been missing since moving from a Sense ROM/launcher.
Does a nice scrollable widget exist that's similar to the stock Friendstream one?
EDIT: I've tried out Socialite, but it seems to never sync properly and eventually force closes on the CyanogenMod nightly builds.
I miss it too.
Try Pure Messenger Widget.

OP if you try Pure Messenger let us know what you think. I use Socialite and it seems to work okay... but could be better of course.

EDIT: I was just too tired to realize what I was doing incorrectly. Trying to get a widget setup that looks decent.
All of the different variants of the Sense style widgets look really "off" for some reason. Looking further, it's definitely the pictures, as they trail a bit off the left side of the widget. (See pic)
I'm also not fond of the left/right arrows on the widget. I only set up FB, so I don't need non-working buttons.
Pure Messenger will make you forget Friend Stream every existed.

Use the scrollable version with ADW/LauncherPro. It is better than FriendStream.
Like so:
Nice setup TheBiles.
PureMessenger > friendstream with the ability to use skins, add email and sms along with twitter and FB to stream, ability to select preferred clients for clicked feed, and oodles of config settings in a nice scrollable UI with ADW or launcherPRO. Well worth a buck-fifty.
I wouldn't consider Pure messenger better than Friendstream myself.
It's nice... but sadly needs a few fixes in my opinion
1) Won't display 'mobile upload' picture notifications properly. It only shows 1 picture in the internal viewer with no way to go directly to the person's photo list.
2) Pictures display as filenames in the list view, rather than the actual thumbnail as sense does. (This might be considered user preference, but I'd prefer to see a picture rather than <randomwords>.jpg )
3) No support for built in HTC applications for Facebook nor Twitter (aka peep). While the internal viewer can be dismissed in favor of a real 'app', the selection is limited to bout 3-6 apps none of which are the built in parts of HTC's rom. (Of course if you're not using HTC roms then this isn't problem
Overall it's a great app, and the best out there I've seen, don't get me wrong.. but Friendstream still has the edge in actual functionality for basic use. Sure, No themes, lack of customization hurt, but when it comes down to using the product for what it's intended for (Keeping up with posts/photos from your friends) it has a few issues IMO.

Had a chance to play with Pure Messenger Widget a bit more today.
Overall it seems "ok" but lacking in some ways as well. You can't post directly from the widget, which is a huge strike against it. I want the widget so I don't have to clutter my homescreens with redundant apps.
Guess I accidentally went past my 24 hours so I am the proud owner, or some such thing.

I'm using the scrollable widget currently, and like I said, it's neat to watch updates, but it's a killer that I don't see an obvious way to post anything to FB/Twitter through the widget, instead I'm forced to use the app.
It just feels "clunky" for lack of a better term.
I will say that the widgets can be set up to look better, it just seems that some of the skins are definitely not ones any OCD person would want to use.

It's Launcher Pro. I'm using the Froyo wide dock (in settings) and just setting up normal apps and using the Launcher Pro icons for them.
I like how it looks with a nice black/white theme.

Erm. You just click that little star, and select "update status." You never have to open the official apps. You can also click that little arrow and select "open Facebook" so you don't ever need an icon on the screen in the first place.

Where did you get that toolbar at the bottom. It looks a lot like mine but with a few more icons. Is that a 4g between the wireless and sat?

That's Extended Controls. The second icon is the Froyo hotspot toggle, but it does have a 4G toggle option. I just don't have it on there because 4G doesn't work with CyanogenMod at the moment.

Well crap, it looks as though I'd always been fat-fingering the arrow and only saw the "open Facebook" link in there.
I recant my previous statements and accept that this is a damn fine alternative to Friendstream. (after a little getting used to)
The only issue that I have with Pure Messenger is this: When a FB contact posts something on someones' wall it doesn't show who the other person is, even if the other person is one of your contacts it doesn't show.
Got socialite running on newest cyanogen nightly. Its pretty nice really, I actually like it better than friend stream.
Hi I was watching a browser speed test video on androidcentral and they had a galaxy s phone and when they pulled down the notification bar at the top were a set of power buttons letting you turn on blue tooth, wifi or gps from any screen (really useful IMO)
So i ws wondering if this was part of touchwiz or an app or something we can port to the droid x. I find myself wantng to turn on wifi bt and gps alot in apps and ont want to go to the home screen to do it. i think this is so cool, anyone can elaborate?
thanks!
i believe it's part of touchwiz and it IS very handy. i don't use it all the time but it's a lot easier than finding the screen with the quick toggles.....if you're even using them.
Yea my friend has the one for T-mobile and i didnt' know it till i pulled down the notification bar, and I thought the same thing...sooo useful. I use my phone for navi a lot and it's annoying to go through screens to find the widget.
Quick Desk Beta
Check out the app Quick Desk Beta its essentially the same idea but instead of pulling your notification bar down you double press your home button and it pulls up a transparent screen that you can put any widgets on like wifi toggle or your music player. I used it all the time with my D1 when id be on a web page and forget to turn wifi on or want to listen to music while on the web but not want to go home and find the widgets then back to browser. I just got the DX and haven't tried it yet on it im still figuring out all these new moto blur things but i would think it should work with the DX. Hope that helps you out alittle

thanks i will check it out, but i do once in a while use the double tap of the home button for voice dial on my x, but that shouldnt b needed anymore once we get froyo and the new voice search app from google.
i still would like to have this in notification bar and wonder if it could be done as an app or as a theme mod or what. IF anyone has any ideas how this can be ported? maybe i can request a port in the DX android dev forum?
Yes a friend and my inlaws have the Galaxy and I would love to have something like this for the X.
Check out the app Quick Settings. Lets you put whatever settings in there you want. It's not as pretty, but really useful.

I would really love this too. I know the Galaxy S has it and certain ROMs have it but I'm not willing to root my DX quite yet.
i use quick settings as well, works really good.
Also you can download the app called Homesmack which can allow you to program the search hard button on the X to bring up the quick settings app. pretty convenient when i want to turn on wifi or bluetooth etc on the fly and saves space on home screens

It's awesome.
this is the only feature i miss from when i had my Captivate.....i can only hope the guys at team defuse can get this to work on the X!
I use MySettings. It works very well.

You'll probably need to be more specific. Are you on 2.1 or 2.2? Are you using the stock Moto Launcher, or a home replacement such as Launcher Pro or ADW?
Rooted 2.1 with stock Blur launcher only modified to have glowing borders.
Yeah here too... When I've tried to use it it says need to "Make the widget larger to add more tasks"...
Sent from my DROIDX cause it's got the GBs and the Wifis
Is it the widget that's crapping out? Or something else?
So what if you long press on it and drag the border to make it larger? I have it disabled, so can't check...
I had the same issue with the widgets. What compoundedthe issue was I started using ADW and lost the motorola widgets. I found a app called Bettercut that let me put direct dial or text right on the desktop with the contact picture. Works great and I can add direct text shortcuts which is something I use a lot. Best 2 bucks I spent

It just makes the blank blue contact picture larger.
Are you using custom launcher or Blur? It might not be playing nice with a custom one...

I'm using Blur with colored png's. And Bettercut is basically the same thing as the shortcut widgets.
eh just saw you said that earlier in the thread, sorry..
I get the same problem when I try to use the moto contact widget while running ADW Launcher. When I revert to stock Blur, it works fine. Chances are the minor theming to BlurHome that you did, might make it think its not stock and therefore wont work? just a guess...
Flashing SBF and re-pushing my modified Blur makes the widgets work now. I don't know why they were crapping out on me...
You probably have the contact linked and its not pulling the pic. I had that problem with most of my contacts linked to fbook profile. The only way I could save a pic to the phone contact was to unlink the contact, add pic, then when I used in a widget it would have photo or not be blank.
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Nope, none of my contacts are linked to Bookface. Only my Google account. And it would blank out every contact I tried to put on the screen. But like I said, the SBF flash fixed it. I don't know why that happened because I put my themed BlurHome back on the phone and the contact widgets are still working. Same thing was happening with the news widget too.
This is not my screenshot (or i obviously would not be looking the widget ) i'm looking that widget with the android talking and the speech bubble the one at the top?
Its the "welcome to android"-widget, gives a short introduction how to do things, is afair in stock froyo/gingerbread - but I have no name for it
ahh right i thought it was some sort of news widget was looking nice there but oh well thankyou kinda new to android scene haha
It's called "Protips". It's fun to customize as well ^_^
would it be possible to get the apk file and edit it so it's filled with quotes of your choosing etc? i know how to properly edit the xml files and so forth...
