Hi, does anyone know if it's possible to set the stock browser's start page (home page) and/or new tab page as the bookmarks page? Kind of like opera's start page? Thanks!

this is a god idea
I use Opera and I reckon plenty use Dolphin HD as well. When I do a suitable action I get the pop up asking to launch with Browser or Opera, and a checkbox I will probably use to make Opera default in the future. When I hit the key for the web browser, it always launches the stock Browser app. Is there anyway to change this?

I use Opera too, bust mostly Chrome. "Best" is a personal choice, ie. whatever suits you best. Try Chrome, Dolphin, Firefox and XScope, etc., to see which one you like best.

I like the stock one, really fast on this device and can be used for multiscreen.
I've been using opera since I first had touch screen samsung instinct cause it was good but when I use opera on the tablet it keeps loading the pages over and over so I want to see if it was me having this problem

Chrome is the all round best, but if you don't like Chrome then try Boat browser. I find it's a simply awesome browser.
I think if you are looking for an overall balance of speed, looks, extras and ease of use you can't beat Dolphin Beta.
The best thing is that it allows you to sync bookmarks online and displays them in a drag out sidebar on the left side of the page. It also supports folders and keeps your place in a folder. For instance, if you open a folder and click a bookmark that same folder will still be open and have the focus when you go back instead of having to drill down to it again. This can be a big time saver.
The only other browser that does this would be Maxthon which is also good but not as easy to use.

I have been having a great experience with Maxithon. I had tried it before and did not like it but it seems to almost be made for Gnote 10.1. IMO
IMHO Chrome with a permanent desktop mode mod is perfect

No, I don't have this issue, but Opera does seem to crash more often than it should
i use opera for videos - i like being able to selectively run flash files, plus most of the other browsers won't open some videos in new tabs. firefox for everything else. flash video playback is kinda buggy with ff and i occasionally have to force close it.
For me stock browser would be best if only there was a way to permanently set desktop mode and if it had text reflow.
* Opera Mobile: Nice with its text reflow but high bandwidth flash movies stutters sometimes.
* Boat Browser: Has working text reflow and excellent flash performance but doesn't hide the notification area when playing flash in full screen mode.
* Chrome: No flash.
* Maxthon: Flash has bugs on some sites.
* Dolphin: Works pretty good but doesn't have text reflow.
* Firefox: Lagging flash performance.
* ICS Browser: Has bugs and its text reflow doesn't work on Samsung devices.
If only Boat browser would hide the notification bar when showing movies in full screen mode it would be my first choice. I've emailed the developer about the problem and suggest you do the same and if we're lucky maybe it will be fixed.

You did not say if you use opera mini or mobile . I use opera mobile and never ever has it crashed it opens some other window in the background but it's not bother . Plus unlike stock browser this one can download files all the way . Stock browser has real problem downloading . Either it's unable to download ( for no reason what-so-friggin-ever ) or when you download " cannot parse package " . Only problem with opera is google maps , but I don't use it . I use original maps . Try installing some ad blocker and see if that minimizes pop-ups
I still enjoy using the stock browser for the option of multiscreen and it runs well with the tablet. Scrolling is smooth and no real problems that i can think of.

Just leting you know that dolphin browser has text relow, although its a littke tricky. First pinch to zoom on the area you want to read then double tap on that area. The text will be reflowed at this point.
You probably know this but ild post it anyway for people who might not .
Stock browser on the other hand does not support text reflow but you can enable desktop mode for a particular session until you shutdown the browser completely. First type about:debug on the browser url bar. A java console dialog box will then be displayed beneath the url bar. Go to your browser settings at this point and you will see additional settings option.
Click on UA STRING then select desktop...Once this is done all your pages will be rendered in desktop mode for the duration of your session..
Here is a trick for firefox if you do use it i posted this on a forum a few years back and it works on here type in about:config into the brower and start with network.http and hit the search button and change each one if you need help let me know this works on the deskmtop version as well
network.http.max-connections – 48
network.http.max-connections-per-server – 16
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy – 8
network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server – 4
network.http.pipelining – true
network.http.pipelining.maxrequests – 100
network.http.proxy.pipelining – true
network.http.request.timeout – 300
NEW -> Integer. Name it “nglayout.initialpaint.delay” and set its value to “0”.
watch the difference now

Does any browser do this?
Hidden tab staying active and hidden action bar?
Two things l miss from my Kindle color (my gateway tablet).
The browser - stock or Opera Mobile- allows streaming music and video to continue on hidden tabs. Many times I will have multiple tabs open, reading on the front and streaming YouTube or Stereogum on the hidden tab.
Opera Mobile collapses the bottom action bar into a thin maybe 1/8" line. A simple tap opens it up.
Anyway to get these two things implemented?
ok, when i click on internet on my one s it always opens the last page i visited, sometimes this is great but most of the time i want to search for something, now ive set www.google.co.uk as my homepage hoping that when i click on internet it will open google straight away but its still opening from last webpage i was on.
is there a way to have my home page open soon as i open the internet please ?
Thanks in advance
Unfortunately not that I know of. Unless you close the tabs that you were using before you exit the browser. Or go to the home page manually, and then swipe Internet off Recent Apps.

Ahhh right, that's a bit disappointing........thanks for reply
Why not use the google search app or widget to search... it will open the browser
Close all tabs, open home page. Close browser and it should pop up next time you open browser. That's what I had to do
