Question regarding Sim unlocking - HTC Sensation

Hello
I want sim unlock my sensation, but also want to be stock everything and not rooted. So here comes the question:
If I root my phone, and do the sim unlock. Can I run the RUU, and make my sensation S-ON and STILL keep the sim unlock ?
Thanks

Absolutely yes. Root your phone using Revolutionary, perform the Sim Unlock procedure then run the RUU. Once the RUU has successfully installed follow the Revolutionary instructions to S-On your Hboot.

Thank you, I am gonna do it soon

Again, thanks for the link, I'll have to have a look at it later.

You can't sim unlock the desire s via software. You must use XTC clip. You don't need to buy one, just find a local store with an XTC clip where they charge you a small fee for sim unlock.

Certain things, e.g. RUUs, need to have the correct Carrier ID on the phone in order to install via the bootloader or recovery using the PG58IMG.zip process. The Latest Firmware packs for example are grouped together into sets, this is to allow you to install them if you don't have SuperCID. If you have got SuperCID you can install any of them as all the CID checks pass.
Another reason to change the CID if to allow you to install a generic RUU instead of the one that came with the phone, this allows you to remove the bloatware. For example I'm on Vodafone and I installed the generic Euro RUU purely to get rig of the Vodafone crap that came pre-installed.
The process to change it back is identical to the way you write the SuperCID just using your original CID (mine for example is VODAP001). IIRC HTC__01 is the generic CID

Hey thanks for your response
Ok so I have s-off and super Cid just a few more questions if u don't mind
1. can i install any ruu for any android phone or am I limited?
2. Will installing a ruu for another phone effect the way my current phone works
3. When installing a ruu.exe for another phone will I have to follow the same bootloader unlock method for that phone or my phone?
Sorry for the newbie questions but I have limited knowledge of super cid however I have been rooting for years now
I heard some bad things about super cid but have not had any issues thus far, the guide was very easy to follow and in fact just to make sure it was working I was able to ruu backwards
Thanks for your expertise you r awesome

1)with s-off and supercid you are not limited
2)it won't affect anything at all
But probably you will have some official updates from the specific carrier(if you have)
3)I think it depends from the carrier of the Ruu you have chosen
But actually there is no need to unlock the bootloader because you are on s-off
Edit:in second and third question what do you mean by another phone?
I assume you mean another carrier
If yes then yes
If you mean another device(for example Samsung)then absolutely no
Of course you can use any ruu but only from sensation's devices

to reduce the confusion
NO- you cant/shouldn't flash another model phone's RUU on another
there is a high chance of bricking the device if you do that
Does SuperCID also network unlocks the phone?
There is a lot of confusion on the internet about SuperCID. I have HTC One S which is locked to T-Mobile and I want to get it network unlocked. the "strings -n 8 /dev/block/mmcblk0p6" method did not show unlock_code for my phone (though it has worked for some other people). While googling I found that doing SuperCID by changing mmcblk0p4 can also network unlock the phone. Please let me know if you have some idea. Thanks.

[q] just notice that my phone is locked again!!

i just notice that my phone is locked again after using ICS with 3.32 base sometime....
im changing of carrier and i would like to know what is the easiest way to RE-unlock my phone (when i bought it i Used this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=16125079) but now i just want to unlock my phone...
can someone help me please?
When you say 'Locked' do you mean in the HBOOT? That's because it over-writes the original HBOOT when the ICS update goes through
Are you still S-OFF? If so, you can still flash CWM/4EXT via HBOOT using a PG58IMG.zip file
With locked I mean I can use only one sim cardx before I could use any some card is want, my phone got sim locked after installing ics and id like to know how to get sim unlocked again, yeah I'm s-off and rooted using insert coin 5.1.6 right now

there are 2 methods to unlock the bootloader described in this forum.
and if u really s-off, rooted, super cid and all, maybe u safe to use htcdev.com for unlock.

This is what that page says: it is our responsibility to caution you that not all claims resulting or caused by or from the unlocking of the bootloader may be covered under warranty. Please note that unlocking your bootloader does not mean that you will be able to unlock the SIM lock. Unlocking your SIM lock is at the discretion of your operator/carrier and is not part of the bootloader unlocking scope.

What HBOOT are you currently on ??
If you are 1.23 this wont allow write commands
either downgrade to firmware 1.17 or update to 1.27

Call t mobile for the unlock code. Phone locked to carrier has nothing to do with H Boot, HTC unlock, s off, etc. If you never SIM unlocked it to begin with you were lucky it worked on other Networks. There's a thread in development section to SIM unlock your phone.

my phone was sim unlocked when i followed the tutorial, when i bought it it was locked to Tmobile, but after and used the tutorial i could use it with any simcard, i inserted a Telcel simcard, but after i upgrade to ICS the phone is locked again to Telcel, i cannot use any other simcard "just telcel ones" and i cannot call to Tmobile because im from mexico and i bought the phone from ebay
This might be a shot in the dark but have you tried flashing your backup before flashing ICS and tried another Network SIM and see if it works? Was the Telcel SIM in it when you flashed? My thinking is if you go back to GB see if the unlock works again and if it does then you should then try flashing back to ICS without a SIM card in it and see if it is then not locked to a Network. Maybe the flashing with SIM in it caused it. Maybe you could contact the dev who came up with the unlock method and ask him to look into ICS compatibility.
I remember a similar thing happening with a Captivate unlock code not working after flashing FROYO before it's official release.
I found this method and the file link is working. I am going to find my old at&t SIM and see if this works.

My HTC Sensation 4G (T-Mobile USA) is currently SIM unlocked via the code I got from T-Mobile. Will I lose this unlock if I do the HTCDev S-OFF and root method? I really need the SIM unlock but I also want to root my phone so I have access to certain apps.

No you won't. Also htcdev is not S-OFF, it only unlocks a few partitions whereas S-OFF unlocks all partitions.
To S-OFF you either need to use JuopunutBear or Revolutionary depending on your hboot version
