new to rooting xoom - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey everyone...if you saw my last post you would know I won a xoom today. I've had success rooting a Droid 1 and Droid charge with no issues. But I've never dealt with unlocking bootloaders or rooting honeycomb. Any advise?

Rooting a Droid Eris

From what I read you cannot root a droid eris yet right? I just wanted to get confirmation of this.
I do recall reading somewhere that it is in the works.
Thanks,
Adam
Give it about a week.. Eris source code was just released Yesterday, so I would think it would be rooted by next Wednesday.

It would have to leak for us to get it.
I heard that the devs have been working on it since before launch and that moto is giving out a cash reward to whoever in the community can release.

Today is almost over! Come on, I really want an sbf, they're always fun to look through and are a great safety net.
is there anybody actually trying to "obtain" a wifi sbf or is all this "tomorrow" stuff just BS? According to a poll at xoomforums more people have the wifi model so it should be somewhat important to have a wifi sbf!
Thread cleaned. More flaming will result in an infraction.

Yes I could tell, which is the reason for my smart aleck response. It would be nice if Motorola got going and delivered the goods.

Really? The sbf we have was a leak, give up. We have the 4 stock images from Motorola, they work the same way. You will have to use them.

Why can't he? I have relocked my xoom 6 times now. If you do it right it won't softbrick anything.

superoneclick v2.3.3 works for 2.3.6

this root method worked like a charm on my atrix 2 running 2.3.6ota! of coarse all credit goes to shortfuse for making this super easy one click program!

Thanks, but we've had a one click root exploit for 2.3.6 for at least a month now.

Haha, wow. Here's some good reading for you then
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
The previously mentioned one click root method, which works ridiculously fast I might add, is detailed about halfway down the page under "How to Root". There's lots of good info in there, check it out.

I clicked on your link and at first I felt insulted because the first word on the page i seen was noob. Just jokin, I read through that when i first got my a2. I just didn't realize they had found an exploit for 2.3.6., Its good to know.

Haha, def didn't intend anything offensive. Hell, I used that thread to walk me through rooting, flashing fxz, etc., when I finally grew the cahones to do it....and I was pretty experienced from my year of flashing/modding my X10.

I know that there is a one click in the noob thread but I tried it about six times on my new a2 and it didn't work...don't know why. I have been rooting/flashing for a while now on several different phones. I picked this up on the infuse 4g forum and thought I would post it for people who had trouble with the other one click method.

You need to go to the Samsung forums for this phone and ask there.

You should check the Atrix 4G forums, this is the Atrix 2 forum.
Having said that, you may need to install device-specific software from Motorola.
Can't Find the download links for the superoneclick 2.3.3 ,,,, any help would be appreciated.....

It's probably just a bugfix or maybe official ICS (I don't think they officially recieved ICS for that phone yet). Kinda miss my OG since it had an unlocked bootloader.
Probably just a GB security update.

there's no statement from moto nor anyone else that it would be ics/jb for the og, most people think it'll lock their bootloaders for good, like moto did to the electrify and other phones
