[Q] Using a Datacard for a xoom wifi only?

Hi all
I am wondering if it is possible to use a 3G Datacard to provide internet to the xoom (wifi only), the same way I can connect a laptop to internet through an usb datacard device.
(as long as I know Android 3.0 does not have support for usb external devices, but 3.1 does).
Thanks in advance.
I doubt it. Your best bet would be to get a mifi. Or tether from a phone.

Wifi Xoom 3g dongle?

Okay I can not understand how my friend with an Acer Iconia can use a Verizon Novatel 3g dongle with his tablet. I have a dongle with free service through my job. With all these custom kernels etc is it not possible to create something so I can use a 3g dongle? I would think someone could use something from the Iconia to work on the Xoom. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
how does it work on the iconia? does he need to launch an app? to use the dongle?
unfortunately he is on medical leave so I can't ask him.
ooo ooo ooooo i wanna know how to do this

[Q] 3g usb for asus eee?

ok so i have a 3g wireless card i use with my asus eee 1000 and i was wondering if i could plug in a 3g usb into the asus eee pad and be able to use the internet anywhere? i know that you can tether your phone and stuff but i dont have a fancy phone and i dont have a data plan to use my phone as a motem. i was wondering if anyone knew yes or no, or if someone could test that for me and any others out there wondering if this works?
if you have a 3g wireless card why not try it yourself? Or do you not have a transformer?

In most cases unless the the device is just drawing power from usb port, you need a driver.
When you had the unit plugged into your primary device did you or it launch software to get it to work?

OK first, post everything you can about the card here. Name model revision number ect. Someone here might have a solution.
Second do a google search for android and your unit.
Third email the manufacturer of device and Asus asking your question.
If the device can be powered on via USB and not require client software, that is, it acts like a wifi router, then yes it will work.

In the UK you can get something called a MiFi which is owned by three mobile, and its basically a battery operated wifi router. Stick your 3g sim card in it, and it operates as a 5 device infrastructure wifi network which shares the 3g connection. Its currently locked by three but you can by unlocked ones from eBay for about £60... works well
ya i dont have the mifi thing, but i do have my pc that has bluetooth built into it and im thinking if you can tether to your phone to use it for wireless and my pc can tether to the andriod then bingo i can use the wireless thru my comp and bluetooth tether the android device to it and bam wireless anywhere maybe a friend of mine just got it so maybe i can ask her to test that theory out ill let you know if it works
lg 2100ti turbo 3g usb
i have an att Lg 2100ti turbo 3g usb stick and a transfrer. i am intrested in a way to use it for a 3g connection. i saw that someone made a kernal mod to android 3.2 to get a USB ethernet device to work. anyone have any sucess with a 3g modem? Would this be simular to the usb switch for devian / umbuntu? to enable USBSerial?

[Q] Is tethering with USB possible?

I have a droid x rooted to gingerbread. Apparently I don't have the "kernel". I tried the bluetooth tether and don't have it. I can connect with the 3g hack, but that is really slow. So is there any way to tether my Droid X with my TF through usb?
what is the 3g hack?
This would be nice to use. With the 3.1 update adding USB host driver it might be possible.

Can I use the Transformer as an access point for my phone?

I own a Samsung Infuse which has terrible Wifi strength. I have to be in the same room as the router in order for it to connect.
Is there anyway that I can use my Transformer as a hotspot while its connected to my network so my phone can connect to the Transformer?
No, cant be host and client at the same time.

How is that possible? Unless your TF is 3G capable, once you turn the TF wifi hotspot on it shut off the WiFi connection.
I can tether my TF to my Nexus 1 but not the other way around.
are you on latest firmware? I saw something in another thread about it, but its definitely an option here and worked when I tested it!
