Flaws:
1 - Hardware Video Decoding.
The doubleshot is flawed on hardware video decoding. It works mostly fine on the device itself, however when outputting to a TV it skips, lags, and generally does not work well.
I have included Mobo Player in the ROM, which has an option to enable "Soft Decoding" by default in the app settings. Enabling this will solve all problems when playing video on a TV.
The Doubleshot is more then machine enough to soft-decode video and multi-task other operations at the same time. Use it's abilities to enjoy your experience.
See Post 89 for more info.
Caution:
1 - Titanium Backup:
Removed from ROM. It was causing problems with users restoring data from prior Bulletproof installs. Please do not restore backups from previous Bulletproof installs. Start fresh here & now.
2 - Flashing a custom ROM, or rooting your phone in general means denying any official manufacturer updates from that point forward.
* - Please do not try to install any OTA (Over The Air) updates after flashing this (or any other) ROM.
3 - Please refrain from flashing any ROMs while in a moving vehicle, and try not to handle the device while flashing/booting/loading the first time. Causing the accelerometer and other sensors to activate could lead to a buggy install.
RAM
Romanbb:
I've seen lots of users complain about how little RAM some ROMs have. RAM does not mean speed. It does not determine how fast a ROM is. It simply means how many apps you can have open at once without Android having to close another one. Have you ever filled up the amount of RAM your device allows?
Android is built to use RAM efficiently. Let it handle it. Don't worry about RAM. This ROM has about 190mb free running the Sense launcher out of the box. The more apps you have installed the less that number becomes over time. Don't pay so much attention to it and just enjoy your phone.
Blue6IX:
Task killers. Don't use them. If you use a task killer, please do not report bugs in the ROMs function.
If Android needs more RAM, it will free up RAM. Using a task killer prevents apps from closing properly and saving their data. This leads to corruption of data, and eventually force closes and other issues.
Friends don't let friends use task killers.

Install Instructions
Make sure you are using Official Clockworkmod 5.0.2.7
Make a nandroid backup. Losing 10 minutes of your life is easier to cope with than losing a phone
Download, copy to SD card.
Reboot into recovery.
Install ROM from zip.
Reboot, wait 10 minutes (NOT a suggestion).
Perform on-screen setup.
Wait another 5 minutes, reboot, Enjoy!
Install Notes:
1 - I have handled all cleanup of any prior ROM install, simply flash and go over any prior ROM install with no extra steps necessary for a clean install every time.
2 - You must wait 10 minutes after first install for the ROM to finish installing itself in the background once it fully boots. Android is built to serve you, the user, ahead of itself. If you tell it to do something, it will break itself trying to serve you. Allow it to finish installing itself, even though you can't see it working. If you choose not to you will have a buggy install.
3 - Install will take some time, your phone did not freeze. First boot will also take longer, please have patience.
4 - Please review my Backup Guide to learn about making backups.
5 - After completing on-screen setup of your device, I recommend giving it another few minutes to settle and then rebooting into recovery to make a nandroid backup of your new, fresh Bulletproof installation.
6 - Market Problems:
**If you get the "insiffucient space" error when trying to download an app, reboot to recovery and wipe cache through Clockworkmod. Should get you all squared away.

If anyone would like to start playing with custom kernels for Bulletproof 1.1, please see this link below:
doubleshot kernel project OC/UV
You will find Bulletproof compatible stock HTC, undervolt and overclock kernels.
Custom kernel management:
Installing custom kernels:
[1] - Download the kernel zip file to your sdcard.
[2] - Flash through clockworkmod recovery just like a ROM.
- If you do not know how to do this, you should learn how to flash ROMs before moving on to kernels.
SetCPU
- SetCPU is an app that lets you regulate the clock speed of your device. ( and more! )
- Check out the app in the XDA News page, and then check out the Dev thread.
- Consider donating and buying the market app to support the developer if you really use the app.
WARNING:
Installing an Overclock kernel on your device could have negative physical consequences (Read: broken hardware) if misused/abused.
Please educate yourself on what overclocking does and how you can melt your processor.
You proceed at your own risk and any damage that may result is the sole responsibility of the end user.

Groups messaging:
The app DoubleshotAndroidZipgroups_06-15_V1.0b13935.apk, as per this thread: Shocker on my last phone bill, malware in rom? has been determined to be the problem that *some* people were having with getting billed for international texts they never sent nor received.
For the benefit of all, and to err on the side of caution, this app has been removed from the ROM. There was not time before the release to remove the user interface option from the ROM, or figure out how to enable it safely.
For the time being, please accept this concession of incompleteness in order to get the rest of the ROM in people's hands to play with.
Bulletproof 1.0:
Bulletproof is a ROM that is the brainchild of Romanbb. I would like to single out this developer as a shining example of what a developer at XDA should be. He releases code that isn't just slapped together and thrown out there, but rather takes his time to get things right, and labors for long hours on small things, those details that are so important and oft ignored in general.
He displays a level of patience, helpfulness and contributes much more to XDA then the code he writes. I should hope to live up to the example he sets for us all.
He has moved on to new projects beyond the doubleshot (MT4GS) and i'm sure we all wish him well in his endeavors, I know I do. I thank him for allowing me to pick up where he left off, and appreciate the solid ground he gave me to stand on - both with the code left behind and direction to start working with it.
I also thank him for not spoon-feeding me every answer, and forcing me to exercise my brain by pointing me in a direction, but leaving me to find the answers on my own. The hardest part of being a teacher is NOT giving your student the answer, and instead teaching them how to arrive at the answer on their own.
Link to original Bulletproof release thread.
--------
Bulletproof to me is first and foremost a ROM to use as a basis for my next project, which is delving into kernel modification for the doubleshot. Incidentally, this is also another project Romanbb started us on over here in the MT4GS forums.
I need a solid, stable platform to test my kernel work in. I don't want to waste time guessing if a problem was from a kernel, or from the ROM itself. I have learned quite a bit about Bulletproof, and while it still holds a few surprises for me, there aren't many left to uncover.
As a tangential bonus to users of the doubleshot, this should be a solid daily-driver ROM to use on your phone, when you just want a Sense-based ROM to work and not have to deal with broken things as you use the phone in your daily life.
This is no slight against any other developers, and I could not have put this out without a monumental amount of help from Romanbb, the XDA community at large, and many members here in the MT4GS forums (and some not) who may or may not realize how they have helped me. This really is a community achievement, and the credit rests not on any one persons shoulders.
As with most software, it could always be better - and there are still issues to be resolved, though none that will inhibit stable usage of the device or ROM (to my knowledge). Please stay tuned for future improvements.
Support:
I will support this ROM to the fullest extent of my capabilites.
That being said, please understand something about my life. I work a very random schedule. Sometimes I have a week or more off at a time, other times I put in a 90+ hour work week between two jobs.
Some of you may have noticed by now that when I am here, I go into great depth with my postings and spend a significant amount of time writing up guides, answers and questions.
The trade-off is that when i'm not able to be here, I am like a ghost.
Please do not ever think I have left the community. XDA is my home on the internet, and rarely do I go elsewhere in my free time anymore - unless it is to look something up to use here. I have been very passionately involved with computers for most of my life, and there is no other place like XDA on the internet anywhere.
I really need people's patience if I am in a period where I cannot spend much time on the forums. Believe me, I would rather be here then anywhere else if given the choice. I have a wonderful Lady in my life, and am trying to start a family - so please understand that I will give any and all time I can.
Where we go from here:
1 - Overclock kernel. Incremental kernel CPU clock speed increase until we reach 1.5 stable.
2 - Undervolt kernel. Incrementel voltage decrease until lowest stable voltage achieved from 1.5 CPU clock speed.
3 - Careful, cautious incrementation of CPU clock speed above the manufacturers rated 1.5, emphasis on stability.
The kernel work is honestly the primary drive behind what Bulletproof 1.0 is. I intend to lay out a very in-depth explanation of how and what was done for a majority of the kernel work I do after I get it working. I feel the discovery and sharing of this information will be a great service to the XDA community.
It also has the benefit of being able to teach others who have a doubleshot how to work on kernels, and then team kernel projects become a reality. I hope that some of you out there are interested in working with me in the future, because CPU speed and voltage are but a tiny fraction of what the kernel is about.

This depends entirely on what battery you are using, whether you calibrate it correctly with the ROM, if you have broken it in correctly, and how you use the device.
siani_8 has the absolute most incredible battery life, using a Mugen obscene capacity battery.
I use the Anker battery with a 1900 capacity. I think it gets good battery life.
Someone using the stock HTC battery should immediately purchase an Anker or Mugen battery, for reasons beyond capacity.
I will update this posting with all the battery information and tutorials on how to do everything I just said when time allows.
(d'oh, shoulda grabbed a third post)
Thanks, blue. Downloading now, looking forward to rocking this

Very nice. I'll be testing this out later today (perhaps at dinner lol).
Does this have Kidzone and the "Groups" tab completely removed?
Groups tab is still in the ROM, though non functional.
Kidzone is also still in.
Both of these items are on my hit list for future updates.
I felt that they were both bigger projects then delaying the ROM was worth.
I would like to try to enable the groups tab, as I understand that people do use it - so if I can figure out how to eliminate the security flaw while keeping the groups tab, that is preferred.
I hate kidzone as much as everyone else who has ever handled this device, and it will be terminated with extreme prejudice when time allows.
Removing T-Mo pink coloring everywhere is a bit higher on my list then kidzone, as it will provide a larger immediate effect on user experience.
Edit:
OP updated.

Thanks, I'm looking forward to trying this out!
It seems as though lately all the devs are requiring/building-in full wipes for every update. Is there a possiblity of doing updates that we just flash over top, from time to time, to make the whole backup and restore thing simpler?

I am not sure I understand you here.
Please do not restore any data from any other ROM or previous Bulletproof install to your device.
You start fresh with this ROM, as if it was day 1 with your phone.
If you choose to restore data from any other install or ROM into this new ROM, you will probably have problems at some point. I will be completely confused by your problems, being unable to duplicate them myself.
Any posts describing problems from people who have restored data from any other install or ROM will confuse other users about problems that are unique to one specific user.
This is the reason I removed Titanium Backup from the Bulletproof lineage.
Please start fresh for a solid experience.
Edit:
OP updated to add recommendation number 5 under install notes.
Please perform a fresh nandroid backup of your new Bulletproof installation after it is fully installed and loaded.
Thank you.

I think what's he's asking is, from this point on (after the fresh start). Will you be pushing updates as a "flash-able patch", rather then a "complete wipe"? I'm curious too... cause I hate having to start fresh... One reason I avoid updates sometimes...

Yes, that's exactly what I was trying to ask!
Ah okay - I understand, forgive me, I still haven't slept yet.
The answer is - unclear.
In most cases I would try to simply update as opposed to start fresh.
I am more interested in writing my install scripts for updates to just wipe /cache and /data/dalvik-cache as opposed to the entirety of the /data partition.
I would like to see people lose as little data as possible, and am interested in having as little impact on the user experience as possible moving forward.
The big one was the start fresh now, hopefully as we progress we can build on that.
I am leaving the door open for the need to do a complete fresh install in the future, but hopefully that will be un-necessary.
Great, thanks for that reply.
I don't know, I don't find any issues in the data thing. All my contacts are on my Google accounts, my apps backed up to my SD along with the App data (non system apps only). If your gonna flash an ROM, you should have the 5 minutes to install your apps. I don't use titanium, it screws up the phone. I've never had a text message so important I needed to save it. Or been so far in a game I couldn't redo it. That's me personally, I just let the dev do what they needa do. If they do want to wipe cache and data, just let them. It's going to allow them to have the same install grounds as all of use. That being said it helps the dev find out bugs, because in a sense. Where all using the same set up. As a Dev I understand it fully.

Out of respect for the dev, I have removed SetCPU; this will also help with some of the update woes people have been having, he offers it up free on his XDA page. 2.0 is out and it is SLICK!

Known Issues
[*]XML Import and Export is not working on versions prior to 4.3 ITS FIXED!!!(CMParts)
[+] For the time being right click and save the file here on your computer, and then go into the UI tweaks under Settings>CMParts on your phone, and fill in the corresponding parts as listed on the xml file
[*] Sometimes Market can go wonky and get hung up on downloads
[+] Fix for this is to first check your downloads page as Froyo can restore your apps so it may already be downloading the same app your trying to install, or it may just be processing hard trying to restore all of your "known" apps. Just let it work through those restores, it may max out your internal memory and fail a bunch of them, thats ok just let it do its thing. Then re-boot and try again.
[+] Next, if you are still having trouble, Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All> Market, And clear cache, Clear Data, Force Stop; Then hit back and go to Market Updater and do the same. Re-boot, and then re-try your install. Still doesn't work? Then something is broken, wipe and re-flash.
Battery Issues?
[+] Let the phone die till it turns off
[+] Plug it in
[+] Boot into recovery
[+] Wipe battery stats
[+] Let batter charge for 8+ hours, this is good conditioning for you battery as well!
~POST BOOT SETUP~
Setup
Don't allow Google to collect anonymous data; It makes your GPS run all the time.
Un-Check Back up my data to Google
LET IT SYNC! Its going to do all kinds of stuff like restoring apps etc. just let it chill for a while, go into market and watch the downloads tab once the sync icon disappears! Seriously, leave it alone, go hang out, or setup your settings but leave apps alone!
If you get into a loop with the setup wizard on first boot, just hit home key after you log in once.
CM Settings
Go to: Settings>CyanogenMod Settings
Application settings> Check Allow application moving (DO NOT CHANGE INSTALL LOCATION FROM AUTOMATIC, IT WILL CAUSE ISSUES WITH APPS2EXT)
Input Settings>Lockscreen music controls are awesome thanks kmobs!, Menu unlock settings are in here as well.
Performance Settings> Seriously Dragons...you should only touch Lock Home in Memory (which everyone should turn on!) if you want us to support you in the threads Other stuff is functional, but experimental!
UI Settings> See Known issues section for instructions on setting this up easily Setting most things to white or grey will result in fine looks. You need not mess with Notification bar submenu under >Notifications colors
Spare Parts Setup
Go to: Settings>Spare parts
Window animations: Fast
Transition animations: Fast
Remember (as with all CM based ROMS) you will need to change the text color for your clock and notifications via Settings>spare parts. It will be black on black when you boot.
See Known issues list for workaround!
Right click and save as xml to the root of your SD card
Go into Settings>CM Settings>User Interface>Tweaks Extra, and scroll all the way down, click "Import colors from XML"
Reboot to apply changes
SetCPU Setup

ADW Suggestions
Go into Settings>ADW Settings

Checking, Hide Icon labels
Highlight Press Color: FF000000
Highlight Focus Color: FF696969

Get in there play around!!!
If you do have problems wipe and try again
I put a lot into this ROM I hope everyone likes it!!!

It's important to know that the "DangerSPL" (or DeathSPL or Haykuro's SPL or whatever you prefer) is a prerequisite for Dream/G1 users. Magic (MT3G etc) users do *not* need to do this. Ciwrl has written a guide to installing this bootloader. Flashing this bootloader under the wrong conditions can actually brick your device, so pay attention to the guide. CM releases have always avoided this requirement, but the new bootloader frees up enough space so that no crazy hacks are required for a fully functional system.
INSTRUCTIONS:
HTML:
- First time flashing a CM-5 based rom?
1. Root your device and install Amon_RA's recovery (Dream / Magic)
2. Do a Nandroid backup!
3. Install the DangerSPL if you don't already have it
4. WIPE (I cannot guarantee an upgrade from CM-4.2 to this CM-5 based ROM will work- Titanium Backup may be of help)
5. Install the ROM
- Upgrading?
1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
2. Install the ROM
If it is lagging or feeling laggy go into SETCPU chances are the max is set to something stupid low for some reason so it makes this ROM feel like crap.
~if you have problems I recommend a full wipe
1.Wipe>Wipe Data Factory Reset
2.Wipe> Clear dalvik Cache
3.Wipe> Wipe EXT partition
4.Wipe> Battery stats
4. Partition Sd Card> Repair EXT partition
5. Flash zip
6. Enjoy!

From reading the info posted here, it sounds like just a theme.
I think you should post this in the Android Themes section with flashable zip files that change the theme instead. I wouldn't really consider this a new "rom" or anything, it hardly has to do with the development section. It's just CM with a bit of a twist.

Gonna try this now

This is something with CM 5.0.7, I have seen it happening on all variants of the ROM. I just mount SD in recovery to avoid it being goofy.

Ok initial impressions:
After first boot up wankyness this rom is really smooth!
first boot up wankyness includes Lag slowness market problems etc etc!
Well after a reboot everything works great! I would put it on par speedwise with superbad. This is definitely a keeper! Will see in the coming hours at how stable it stays! Thinking of trying the overclock kernel!

Yeah Yeah, I'm a file pusher. There are a lot of people who cant even do that. Thus why I am releasing this for everyone.
Thanks for packaging everything in one zip. Justed flashed so will get back with you about performance
Geek For Me is proud to release:
Fresh Hero 2.4.0 for your Sprint Hero
NOTE: Remember that Fresh Hero is considered a stable every day rom, and Fresh Toast is a dev rom that may have issues. Also (in case there is confusion) Fresh Hero is for the Hero and Fresh Evo for the Evo. But I think that's self explanatory.
Also FYI: the phone may freeze on very first boot at the lockscreen, or it may get to the lockscreen and then reboot one more time. This should only happen on the very first boot after flashing the rom (if it happens at all).
If you are coming from Fresh Hero 2.3.3 then no wipe is required. You can grab the incremental update (10 mb) to go from 2.3.3 or the full update. The full update is required if you are coming from any other rom. If you are coming from another rom then a full wipe may be required. Always make a nandroid backup, I can't be held responsible if something breaks, etc, etc.

Added Fresh Updater! Check the How To for information on setting it up and using it. This project has been on the back burner for months, and I’m happy to finally have brought it back and finished it up. Thanks to cyanogen and firefart as it’s based on CMUpdater. Use Fresh Updater to enable the vanilla lock screen.
270 degree auto-rotation (you can turn the phone to the right or the left for landscape) — Thanks to Optedoblivion for pointing me in the right direction.

HTC_IME Mod High Res v.27 keyboard -- This keyboard has a ton of features. I have included this keyboard and the stock one. To change which keyboard you use just do a long press on a text input field.
All APK's have been png optimized and zipalign'd
png optimize goes through every APK and losslessly compresses the png (picture) files without causing any type of visual change. This provides a smaller apk file size that loads faster. Each APK has then been zipalign'd. From Android's developer page: zipalign is an archive alignment tool that provides important optimization to Android application (.apk) files. The purpose is to ensure that all uncompressed data starts with a particular alignment relative to the start of the file. Specifically, it causes all uncompressed data within the .apk, such as images or raw files, to be aligned on 4-byte boundaries. This allows all portions to be accessed directly with mmap() even if they contain binary data with alignment restrictions. The benefit is a reduction in the amount of RAM consumed when running the application.
While this does free up space on /system it is not done to make free space. It is done purely for a performance gain. Every day use of the phone will go smoother and stock applications will respond faster. The reason this works is because it has reduced the application file size as much as 50%, so they load in to memory faster and run smoother.
Additionally all applications in /data/ (even ones you downloaded) will be zipalign'd on boot if they need to be.
Not every apk takes png optimization + zip align well. I've done it on enough roms that I think I know which ones cause issues now, but if you are getting FC's on any apps (I can't test them all) then let me know and I'll get it resolved. Thanks!
Entire rom has been resigned.
Major thanks to jschisurf for help on this. The process changed from Android 1.5/2.0.1 and I was getting errors where I had previously never had problems. He helped me figure out what I was doing wrong.
Resigning all the apks allows for non-standard apps to be used (like FriendStream) and also provides a standard based for modding apks.
Apps2sd updated to Darktremor 2.7.5p2 by tkirton.
Apps2sd takes all applications from /data/app and /data/app-private and moves them to a partition on your sdcard. This allows you to store more apps on your phone and also allows you to restore your phone and keep all your apps in tact (albeit with all settings lost). Although sometimes wiping sd:ext is required too.
You do not have to use apps2sd if you don't want to use it. If you just don't format your sdcard with an ext partition (leave it all as fat32 like it is from the factory) then apps2sd will stay turned off.
How to setup apps2sd on Fresh and warnings about apps2sd
Battery optimizations
Raised VM kernel dirty page writeback frequency to 15 seconds. This wakes the phone up less often for background VM activity. Every single application in Android is technically running in a VM (virtual machine) so that's why this helps (as recommended by lesswatts.org).
Updated Google Maps to 4.3.0
Updated Launcher Pro to 0.6.5.1
Updated Estrongs (ES) File Explorer to 1.4.2.2
Wifi Tether 1.6 -- This is not the newest version but in my experience it works best on the Hero. If you are getting a FC in wifi tether then it's because you have another copy of it in /data/ with a different name. Therefore you ended up with two copies. Remove one of them and reboot.
Facebook moved to /data/ so that it can be uninstalled
Dancing droid boot screen thanks to wrx4memp!
Added PowerTOP 1.11. From LessWatts.org: Programs can make your [phone] use more power. PowerTOP is a Linux tool that helps you find those programs that are misbehaving while your [phone] is idle. — Compiled by cyanogen.
To run PowerTOP just open an adb shell and type: "powertop -d". It will scan for 15 seconds and then print out a report.
The first section will show you what % of time your phone spent running at what Mhz. Ignore the Mhz in the screenshot above because it's from my Evo so it will look a little different on the Hero.
The next section shows wakeups-from-idle per second. 50-80 would be normal. If you are in that range then you don't have a problem.
The next list is the top causes for wakeups. Compare your list to mine (I only showed the top 3).
All the way at the bottom it will have optimizations that can be made to lower power use. These changes can not be made to the rom itself, they must be made to the kernel. While other roms claim they made changes to the kernel, if they are using the stock kernel (if they aren't over-clockable then they are using the stock kernel) then they didn't. While there is a kernel source available to us, I have chosen to continue using the stock kernel until our official source is released by HTC for stability reasons.
I have chosen to NOT include adless browsing in my rom. I used adless browsing in all of my Hero Android 1.5 roms because it actually blocked ads from the browser. In Android 2.1 this functionality stopped working so I stopped including it. It was pointed out to me that while it doesn't block them in the browser, it does block them in apps (background data). The reason I am choosing to not include this is because as a developer myself, I feel that the authors deserve to get paid for what they do if you want to use their app. If you are choosing to use their free ad-driven application then I don't want to contribute to people blocking those ads and preventing the dev from getting paid.
Stock vanilla lock screen has been customized in the following ways:
Fixed to work properly by flipz
Emergency button showing up after airplane mode fix by flipz
Menu-menu to unlock disabled by flipz
Clock / Sprint / other misc stuff removed thanks to jschisurf!
Added live wallpapers back to Rosie. . Keep in mind that you are using lwp "at your own risk." They may use more battery, they may cause wake issues. And only the lower end ones will work properly. This is not the fix that breaks opengl to allow you to use the more visual ones. Stick with the ones that just draw on the screen (a few are included).
flash_image for flashing RA
Quickboot works... for those who use it!
Espresso bottom bar in green
Full color sliders (see screen shots)
Removed (copied to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks):
The following applications have been removed, however I am trying something new. I have the installer copy all of these applications to /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks. This will allow you to easily install the applications by clicking on them in ES File Explorer, or by copying them to /system/app for the ones that won't install that way (HTC's apps don't play nicely with installing). The applications marked with a * can be installed in one click by clicking on it in ES, the ones marked with # aren't included because they don't need to be reinstalled. The rest you will have to copy them to /system/app. This can be done by issuing the following commands:
adb remount
adb shell
cp /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks/WHATEVERAPP.apk /system/app

You may also need to wipe sd:ext if you are having troubles booting.
If you are running Fresh Toast and ext4 then you'll need to partition back to ext3 if you want to use apps2sd
Pick flash zip from sdcard and select fresh-hero*.zip
After it finishes flashing reboot. Expect the first boot up to take a while.
If it boot loops over and over (you keep hearing the startup sound) then you didn't wipe everything.
When the phone boots and comes to the user setup screen I would recommend syncing your google account right away. I noticed an old bug creep back in where it gets stuck during sync. This seems to be avoided by adding your google account during setup.
The more social networking stuff you have setup (Facebook, twitter, friendstream, etc) the less battery life you will get. These programs do not have a "push" function and work by checking every single one of your contacts to see if they have an update.

Awesome. Flipz, you're my favorite! What are some of the bugs that you want to work out?
Are you or should I say can you(not sure what kernel this uses) move this over to Fresh Toast or will that project not be effected by the leak?
I guess what I am really getting at is if this is going to delay Fresh Toast further or if it is looking good.
friendstream in this?
Since this isn't OCd I'm gonna jit it and see what happens. I flashed damage's flashable ROM earlier and didn't care for it. I'm too use to the OC speed and quickness that it felt like it was in slow-motion.
THIS BOOTSCREEN!
flipz you're the man, for real
Only thing that worries me about modding this Flipz, is /app and /framework are .odexed.
Ok, been using this for an hour-ish now. Just found an issue. When viewing photos, if I rotate the phone, no app (photo viewer, gallery, etc) will rotate. Checking and auto rotate is turned on.
Can anyone confirm?
Edit: Crap. I'm seeing 100% wake time too.

Also (and this is the cause of the wake time issue) we're back to the GSM issue in *#*#4636#*#*
If you manually change it to CDMA auto PRL the wake time issue goes away.
can anybody confirm apps2sd works moving dalvik too on first boot? i tried and couldn't get it on a rom i was building?
damn more awake time issues and i heard a few say sound issues too. do you guys really think this is the final? any thoughts flipz?
good work btw and fast.
and just to let you guys know i had no issues applying several of my themes to this leak today.
DamageControl v3.1.2 - http://www.damagedroms.com
FULL Flash support, JIT, DConfig, Bug Reporter, ROM Manager, 4G, much more
I am proud to present DamageControl ROM for the HTC Evo! The ROMs our team releases are always focused on stability, speed, and ease of use. My partner, TrevE and I, continue to present ROMs that are easy to update through an application that is bundled with the ROM, DCUpdater (based upon cm-updater). We also have bundled applications that let you modify advanced Android settings as well as other applications that will let you customize advanced settings of the ROM.
Another application that we bundle is an application that lets you submit bugs. This way, you can get personal help in problems you have with the ROM!
We usually release new ROMs every two-to-three weeks.
We have found that with our tweaks, that battery life has greatly improved. From our results, we have had much more than sufficient battery life. We have also sped some things up a bit, and made other small tweaks.

-FULL Flash support
-Fixed Wifi and 4G
v3.1.1
-Fixed version of 3.1. Sorry for the headache. Fixes boot issues, phone issues, etc
-New Dconfig with new advanced settings.
*Just so everyone's clear DConfig modifies the WAY the kernel handles stuff. It is not a new compiled kernel nor have we
claimed it to be.
You can read up on some of these settings we're playing with here:

v3.1
**You must be using toasts latest root method for this to work properly. Recomended you flash latest radio as well**
*2 versions now, odexed/deodexed. -
Some people have a preference so we're including both, theres been plenty of argument on what's better/faster
deodexed makes apks "portable" but takes up more space and is needed if you want skins.
odexed has a quicker first boot but skins cannot be applied.
-Initial version of dconfig for evo included
-Added HTCmusic back in
-Added RomManager
-Firstboot zipalign of /system/ and uid fix (first boot will take awhile, just wait it out & watch logcat)
-updated vending
-fixed up qik/quickboot
-permissions on /system/bin/ip set to fix 4g isuses
-some skins are back, checkout DCUpdater! We will be adding more as we get to it - if you want to see your themes in

-dcupdater
-added in dconfig backend. (gui needs a little rework, back next version). Dont mess with /system/etc/dc.conf much

dc 3.2.3
Mirror http://www.4shared.com/file/0Qsusd3V/DamageControlv323_deodexed.html
LWP FIX - &postcount=4676
-Newer versions of System APK including youtube (fixes hd issue), 3D Gallery with multitouch EVERYWHERE, rotation, and camera resolution limit removed + MORE!
-updated wifitether to 2.0.5-pre2 (infrastructure mode) and moved to data for easy updates
-Added new option in dconfig to renice system processes. Causes important stuff to be last to be swapped out, makes for lower ring delay/mms delay when phones sleeping and less cpu load if it is swapped out and needed.
Its a ghetto implementation right now, it runs it on first boot only. If processes DO get killed/startup with different PID settings go away.
-New battery saver profile. If you had this profile before you will be shunted down to usercofig. Resave with battery saver to use new settings.
-DConfig backend work
-Fixed some symlinks
-Flash Tweaks
-Audio tweaks (FLAC and more)
-live wallpapers tweaked
-some protection against future ota updates without resigning apks. (Dcupdater > Sprint rootkilling updates)

-JIT Stability fixes. Its still not perfect but getting better:
Using gr0gmint's new modified JIT dll's (thank man). This may work with sense but its way more stable without. More @ ?t=684535
(for this build JIT is always visable next to the profile dropdown. Be careful with it, kinda gotta rethink how this form looks/works.
If you enable JIT use the checkbox on the mainscreen, choose a battery profile & press reset. It will configure your heap & banned apps for you. If you still have JIT issues try boosting heap in DConfig up to 48m)
-Apps2SD - Disabled by default, but Apps & Dalvik moves to sd are supported in this build, read post 2 for everything you need to know. Audio & Text to sd build has been given out to testers. (coming soon)
-Updated DConfig to include options for Apps2SD. Also has profile & banned apps fixes
--Dconfig may work again on hero/other devices with a few dc.conf changes (needs testing)
-Even more battery and performance tweaks along with many backend stability fixes in initial boot script.
-Fixes fsck error checking on boot
-Fixed HTC Widget Download issue with deodexed
-Updated Geniewidget
-Updated google maps
-tweaked firstboot /system/app zipalign
-removed AdBlocking host file. If you want to readd get "AdFree Android" app from BigTinCan on market.
-Possible Bluetooth fixes

-further tweaked some battery saving options
-fixed wifitether issue
-added chuckhriczko wireless N patch. Use Dconfig to enable.
-fixed issue causing people who arent properly nand unlocked to loop. without nand unlocked we cant write to system so some features of dconfig are disabled.
-worked on JIT. Should be more stable. Still an advanced option, enable at your own risk after reading post 2 fully.
-enhanced banned apps code a bit. Should allow for more advanced configurations soon.

PreReqs
============
This rom assumes you are fully rooted with nand unlocked. If you bootloop after flashing try wiping & reflashing. If that doesnt work MAKE SURE YOU ARE NAND UNLOCKED.
I used toast2of2 method, you can do whatever you are comfortable with. Guys over at androidpolice did a writeup on how to flash using DC as an example - Read it here
Also we assume you have nandroided. This is a saving grace if things go wrong. If you have no clue what i just said webs05 wrote a guide over at ?t=710513
========================
4G INFO/HOW TO FLASH
========================
Because DC 3.2.2 or higher is built on OTA update you MUST have proper radio/wimax to use. You should only have to flash with witslacks method ONCE before going to 3.2.2 or higher. If you are already on 3.2.2+ with working 4g just flash update.zip as normal. DC update.zips or nandroids will not touch radios so theory is once your good your good.
Do not flash update.zip's to update radio or wimax itll just give you more problems than its worth. If you used them previously you may also continue to have issues. These are the radio's fault, not DC's. Witslacks PC36IMG-1.47.651.1_eng-hboot_RA-1.7.0.1.zip has been tested/confirmed over and over and the only thing id use.
Instructions-
If you are coming from a previous version of DC make a nandroid backup first. Then follow witslacks method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=715915
After you follow his WHOLE process boot to a recovery console. Just use that to flash the DC zip, or restore your nandroid (wont touch radios) After you flash DC update profile/PRL and enjoy 4g.
If you are stuck scanning for 4g
go into adb shell
ls /data/misc/wimax/
look for a file with your macaddress ending in .tree.xml. we want to move that to another location so it gets regenerated.
mv /data/misc/wimax/macaddress.tree.xml /data/misc/wimax/macaddress.tree.xml.orig
-If you still have 4g problems:
see this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7020516&postcount=3826 You must verify all your MAC addresses are sane. Also your Username/Pass must be valid.
To give us a 4g error report:
-First tell us if your MAC address has _EVER_ been broken or you used update.zips to update radios
-Have you ran witslacks starting over method?
-What patches have been applied?
-Have you verified your username/password is OK from the above section?
-Have you tried shutting wifi and 4g off, rebooting, then turning just 4g on?
- turn 4g off. reboot the phone. run
adb logcat
and grab everything from turning your radio on to where it fails to connect.
- now run
adb shell dmesg
grab the end output from that where 4g turns on. (sequansd stuff)
- now do
adb shell
# ls -l /data/misc/wimax/
find the .tree file. What are your permissions on it? (information on left hand side before file name)

====================
Known Issues
====================
this has been stated over 9000 times YOU MUST BE FULLY NAND UNLOCKED TO USE THIS!! If you arent you will have bootloops/other issues.
*Lockscreen - When you remove HTCLockscreen the vanilla one is broken up to 3.2.3. Proper fixes are now in DCUpdater
*DCUpdater FC will occur if you have your SDCard mounted or it cannot write to the fat32 partition for some reason. Just unmount your card.
*Clockwork Recovery - clockwork recovery does not play nice with dcupdater. You will end up in a different part of recovery with a green arrow or android guys skating.
If your using clockwork just press update later after dcupdater downloads update reboot into recovery and manually apply the update from /sdcard/dcupdater/updates
*JIT Stability. Working better in 3.2.1+ let me know how latest is.
*Themes from 3.2.1 and previous may not work in 3.2.2. They will cause a com.htc.bg crash.
*Wireless N in 3.2.2+ its enabled by default by sprint. DO NOT ENABLE THIS OPTION IN DCONFIG OR WIFI WILL NOT WORK
====================
Odex vs Deodex
====================
Theres plenty of debate over what is faster/better to use, im not going to take sides in this one. This is just information about what the differences in the two are, try for yourself.
Deodex basically takes the odex file and stuffs it into the apk as a classes.dex. First boot it dissembles the file into /dalvik-cache (i believe). Now there is basically 2 copies of the odex, one in the apk one in cache. This makes it "portable". This allows modders to work on the apks & easily change stuff. If you want themes or stuff like lockscreen fixes you MUST use Deodex.
Odex is how things come stock. It takes up less room but making modifications or taking apks from other roms is hard. You cannot use themes with this version!! To see odex in dcupdater you must go to menu -> configuration -> rom update settings -> display all roms & display experimental roms. Its marked experimental to avoid confusion because themes in dcupdater will not work with it.
DC 3.2 after fresh wipe without setting sync accts up and no a2sd:
Odex - 374 MB free
Deodex - 329 MB free
====================
General Stuff
====================
-Themes are trickling into DCUpdater. They will only work with the DEODEXED rom. Same with lockscreen fix.
-Firstboot script will cause phone to sit on white HTC EVO 4G screen if you are upgrading for a few minutes. Watch logcat if your paranoid.
-Do not use SetCPU if you are on the stock HTC kernel (perflock on kernel) it will just cause issues. If you have a modded one go ahead
-No need for taskkillers with lowmemkiller. Really just cause more issues than their worth.
-If your accounts & sync FC after upgrading from another rom you can try to do the following but be warned you will need to resync everything
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /data/system/accounts.db
adb reboot
Hackvan sent me a heads up to a fix that does not require you to resync from thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7159566
Code:
adb shell
cd /data/system
echo 'delete from accounts where type LIKE "com.htc%";' |sqlite3 accounts.db
-it really helps us if you can reproduce FC's to restart phone, reproduce issue without doing anything else first then use send bug report.
-this rom has so many configurations now its hard to keep up. When posting an issue please make sure you have checked post 2 & be as detailed as possible
(Deodexed/Odexed/DConfig Settings/Skins or other Update.zips applied)
============
Powertop
============
powertop will also reveal stuff hogging wakeups. The less wakeups you have the better battery life will be.
The main thing you will want to diagnose is wakeups when the screen is off and the phone idle. Shut your screen off when connected to usb and wait about 30 seconds, then run
Code:
adb shell dcpowertop
Your wakeups should be around 50-80. If your higher than that you could have a problem. If you see something there in question try to run the following to find what apk the thread belongs to:
adb shell top -n 1 -t
Click to collapse
a powertop example of tracking down an apk can be seen over at &postcount=2502
==============
Other Battery Tips
==============
-If you wipe data to start new with rom you are also wiping your battery stats so things can get out of whack. Cyanogen has a good howto on battery calibration
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php/Troubleshooting#Battery_recalibration
-Turn off rotation. the akm8973 driver seems to be a hog when screen is on. even tho i loved rotation in helix i get much better battery life with it off.
-If you sync stuff constantly try jumping on wifi where possible. Also 4g is a powerhog keep it off if not using it.
-in accounts and sync disable background data if you dont have any mission critical data that sync.
-Make sure you are not at 100% awake time. in settings -> about phone -> battery the awake time should be less than up time (unless your plugged into usb). If its the same wipe data reflash and add your apps one by one.
-The battery use screen in 'settings -> about phone -> battery' is a bit limited. Things like a high time without a signal can cause battery drain.
-I also like checking the the "advanced" battery use screen. Open a dialer and dial the code below. Then go to battery history. Partial wake usage usually shows more information on whats hogging wake. Sensor/GPS/Network/CPU is also revealing sometimes, these all eat battery.
Code:
*#*#4636#*#*
-Use an app such as OSMonitor from market to check out whats using CPU in realtime
-Apply battery saver config in dconfig. If its too slow for you turn the sampling rate down one.

Themes
============
- Here is a preview of just some of the items in dcupdater. we will link back to the original themers thread below if you have problems with the theme start there.
More will be coming, if you want to see your themes here or in DCUpdater contact me!
-I have done a bunch of lockscreen fixes. They are now in DCUpdater. They should be 100% working now. We have rotary lockscreens with time and without and the regular vanilla lockscreen. Right now the versions only will show your desktop background (lwp included) there will be a cleared version shortly.
*Konikub has done a bunch of awesome themes. His full color themes for dc is over @ ?t=706333 Great stuff from the hero days. He also has a white taskbar theme to flashontop of Aloysis and an Espresso theme!

Kernels -
========
These are for people who know what they are doing. Please dont even attempt to use this if you dont know what they do. YOU ARE FLASHING THESE AT YOUR OWN RISK DONT BLAME ME WHEN YOU NEED TO WIPE OR WORSE YOUR DEVICE EXPLODES! If you read this and think freekin sweet these kernels are for you. If your scared just continue on and DO NOT FLASH.
DO NOT flash any kernel that has not been specifically modded for DC. It WILL cause issues, especially with wifi and or DConfig (it will look like it makes changes but nothing will happen)
Stock Kernels-

DConfig Guide
====================
**DCONFIG IS GETTING A MAKEOVER. EXCUSE THE SLOPPY LOOKS FOR NOW**
Dconfig has been redone for release 3.1, for those of you that are new to this it allows you to customize many settings usually not visible to the end user. You can kill your battery fast or put it into a powersaving mode at the expense of performance or anything in between. This will help you choose the right settings for yourself. Alot has changed since this project began - If you want to read more about where dconfig started from or about the backend(alittle outdated but still pretty right) you can checkout the original post ?t=670098

Controls app2sd settings on boot. To get this to work you must have a SD card formatted with at least a ext/fat32 partition. Swap can be set to 0 unless you want swapping (not really needed on evo)
EXT2 vs EXT3 - Journeling. wiki it, Is it really needed? probably not
Move Apps- Disabled by default. moves /data/app/ and /data/app-private/ to /system/sd/app & app-private. May impact battery life slightly. You can confirm its enabled by running the following:
adb shell
cd /data/app/
pwd
Click to collapse
It should return /system/sd/app/
Move Dalvik- Disabled by default.
Do not enable unless you have a faster SD card. You may get random reboots if your card is too slow
This moves /data/dalvik-cache/ to /system/sd/dalvik-cache. Dalvik-cache is usually somewhere between 50 - 100mb. Seems to have a more significant battery impact than just moving apps.
adb shell
cd /data/dalvik-cache/
pwd
Click to collapse
It should return /system/sd/dalvik-cache/
Move Texts- Moves textmessage DB to /system/sd/. Nice because you can wipe and keep texts.
Move Audio- Moves ringtones off to /system/sd/. I prefer this method rather than putting them on fat32 partition because they still work if you have SD mounted and get a call.
*Things to think about with A2SD*
If your using a2sd & wipe your /data/partition and not your EXT you could run into problems with permissions on /data/app-private/ apps. After wipe of data & flash if you bootloop try to wipe your protected apps and just redownload them from market
adb remount
adb shell rm /data/app-private/*
Click to collapse
IF the above doesnt work you win a ext wipe.
Dconfig Basic:
*options here are generally considered "safe".
Zipalign- is recommended. Gives a nice boost with loading apps and when loading app icons (scrolling through app tray and on main screen)
SD swapping adds swap ram- evo probably shouldnt enable this.
DalvikHeap- Stock evo is 24, 32 is what i use it on mainly, 48 is probably not needed. Space java objects are stored, has a direct effect on how much RAM apps use.
LowMemKiller - Eliminates need for taskkillers. Lets android system close out of apps when RAM gets low, 150MB seems to be a nice spot.
Wireless N - Enables or disables chuckhriczko wireless N patch. May consume more battery
Dconfig Advanced:
*These options all effect low level stuff. Play with caution:
JIT - Just in Time compilation- Speeds CPU execution up quite a bit on evo but does not play well with all apps. See the JIT section below for instructions.
UpThreshold- % Where the CPU clocks up to the next speed. 95% is default and saves battery. If you go lower CPU will clock up faster so performance will be better but faster cpu == lower battery life.
SamplingRate- How often the CPU checks load. lower number checks more often so system will be more peppy when cpu is needed but checking more often drains battery faster.
DirtyBG/Dirty ratio - what % of memory can get dirty before writing it out. Higher the % the more battery will last because kernel is writing less often. I have not played much with higher values but would not go much more than say 10/20.
DirtyWriteback/DirtyExpire - How often to check for dirty stuff. 1500/600 seems good.
Advanced part2
Laptop_Mode-Tries to delay kernel buffer disk activities as long as possible. Still trying to confirm if our kernel supports it, turn it on if you want to test
vfs_cache_pressure- Lower trys to retain dentry and inodes. Higher flushes them. 100 is fair balance. We have not found a sweet spot yet, but try testing between 10 - 40.
OOM Kill allocating Task - If checked kernel will kill task causing OOM events. If unchecked it will kill other processes to make way for the hog. Havent played with this much..
Banned apps:
Lets you customize whats loaded in the rom. Moves stuff you dont want to /system/app/dcbanned/ After your comfortable with results if your sure you never want to go back you can
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm -r /system/app/dcbanned/
When you first ban sense it will check off all sense components on the screen. You can uncheck additional components as you wish.
Some Things to think about
When you ban the HTCLockScreen default is to ban worldclock as well and unban Deskclock (if checked) Reason is if you use the vanilla lockscreen with an alarm in worldclock you will be unable to disable your alarm. As anything else you can enable it if you really want.
If you ban friendstream but not facebook you must turn off "Sync Live Feed" in settings -> Accounts and Sync -> Facebook for HTC Sense or else you will perma sync.
JIT Section
Just too much info about JIT so ill move it down here.
*There are some apps that may not work with JIT, that is why this is under advanced. If your not experienced do not use this.*
nebenezer posted some good recomended settings for JIT over at &postcount=4143
-JIT uses more memory i would recommend bumping dalvik heap up to atleast 32.
-JIT & banned apps. These are the recommended settings. They will be set automatically if you turn JIT on in the profiles screen, choose a performance option in dropdown and press apply. Just reboot after. If you do it yourself in advanced these options will NOT be set you will have to do it
Code:
Sense,
HTC Lockscreen,
DCUpdater (causes some hang in system on startup :( )
HTC Worldclock,
All sprint apps
Twitter and friendstream for sure (facebook seems to be ok).
-To Test if JIT is on:
few ways to do it, my favorite is to run the following then open up some applications. You should see "Total arena pages for JIT:" followed by a number scroll by as apps open.
adb shell
logcat|grep JIT
Click to collapse
-If you end up crashing hard you can disable JIT with:
Code:
adb remount
adb shell rm /data/data/com.damaged.DConfig/dc.conf

Glad to see you both are developing for the evo. Loved you r roms on the hero
Oooooo snap, Ima have to check this out fo sho. Thanks for all the hard work!
Oooo I will definitely be trying this, I flashed DamageControl on my sister's Hero, flawless
Damn and I just flashed Fresh's Rom...lol I will give it a couple of days but I really want this one...I guess that's what Nandroid is for LOL .

As a married man myself, I once gave a friend a paper shredder for his wedding. The note on the box of the shredder said. "I wanted you to have a safe place to store your marriage license" she was not amused.
Glad to see you making the switch to the Evo! Running your final Hero rom on my Hero, and a overclock ... and it is amazing.
My only request was to have the Espresso theme ported over. I know Treve had a release that worked prior to your final Hero rom.
If you need to use my mirror still let me know.
Im so glad to see damage on here here. along with flip along with eveyrone else from the HTC Hero days.. Damage roms are always great. with great battery life..
I know those that rooted with the other meth is really pissed right now..
Re: [ROM] DamageControl v3.0 | Fast, Improved battery life, tweaks
This is just amazing¡ just booted it off the bat I noticed it fixed my scrolling lag that was killing me before. I cant wait to give the battery a test tomorrow.
Do we need to calibrate battery in recovery like we did on hero?

I just wet myself!
good to see more of the hero guys over here
Ditto, Do you guys consider a caching to SD version of GMaps (brute) stable enough to include in your rather elite rom
Re: [ROM] DamageControl v3.0 | Fast, Improved battery life, tweaks
Wow after using this a bit I can easily sau this is best rom ive tried so far everyone else just shuffled programs around you can actually feel performance increase on this

Porting Information and Credits
Virtuous Unity, or any components therein, may not be ported to other devices without explicit email approval from the development team. We will be approving ports, presuming the develop of a given port is ready and willing to follow the same revision control and release processes currently employed existing devices.
hrk - Allowing use of ghostySMS Vision version.
cypis - For his awesome Unity-banner
robocik - Tips regarding APK compression.
capychimp - Tips with DHD audio optimization.
HTC/Google- For building such a good base system.
Important Notes
If you are experiencing random freezes and/or reboots, this is likely due to your device being incapable of handling our overclocking defaults. Download and apply this flashable patch, which will reduce the maximum CPU frequency to 1Ghz and likely eliminate this issue.
You must complete a full wipe prior to installing this ROM the first time. We also recommend wiping between upgrades, but you are welcome to try upgrading without a wipe. However, no support will be provided if you file a bug without having wiped prior to submission.
Bugs and Errors
To ease the process of reporting bugs to the team, we made a public bugtracker where you can report the bugs you found. Please make sure you read all the existing entries there to avoid doubling the errors.
The bugtracker is located here.
Download :: Changelog :: More Information(Official Website of Virtuous ROM)
Install instructions:
1. Make a full wipe
2. Flash ROM
3. Reboot
Recommended radio:
12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 (matching RILs included in this ROM)
Addons for 1.26.0, 1.27.0, 1.29.0 and 1.31.0
CRT patch (add CRT animation): Flash in recovery.
NO CRT patch (revert CRT animation back to stock): Flash in recovery.
A few notes
To get support from the team a FULL wipe is required. Without a wipe we can't help you if you have problems
Some changes REALLY need a full wipe to fully work, you can try a non wipe install, but do NOT report any bugs until you wiped.
G2 users must change to the DZ hboot

Special features
This ROM has some unique or not widely known features which I want to explain here.
Screenshot
This ROM (in fact most Sense 3 ROMs) has the unique feature to make screenshots without any additional app.
Just Hold the "Power"-Button and then press "Home" at the same time and the phone will save your screenshot in the Images folder on you SD-Card.
OC Daemon
This ROM deals with overclocking a little bit different than other ROMs. To get further information read this post.
Fancy input animations( coming in 1.26)
Unfortunately HTC removed from all their Sense ROMs the "open" and "close" animations for the keyboard.
Thanks to seo we were able to get them back
There are two different animation versions. The normal one is always activated and there is also no way to deactivate it.
The second "fancy" version can be enabled via the app "Spare Parts" which is in the Android Market.
Custom user app install during first boot
The ROM has the ability to automatically install custom user apps during the first boot (after a wipe)
All you need to do is the following:
Create an folder on your SD card and name it virtuous_unity
Create another folder inside virtuous_unity folder and name it 'app.user'
Copy all the desired apps in this directory in there paketname form, for example: 'com.quoord.tapatalkxda.activity.apk'
Now flash the ROM via your recovery
During the first boot the apps get installed from your SD card, as this will take a while, don't get impatient
(thx semsem1969 )
Release strategy
We are planing to release our ROM in the future every second week on the same day and around the same time.
This point in time will be every Monday night (GMT).
If there are no MAJOR bugs we will release what ever we have done at this time.
Saturday night (GMT) is the so called feature freeze, then the ROM will enter the testing phase. It gets tested until monday and then the team will talk about the results.
Once everything is approved we'll release the next version.
As you should know now when the next version arrives I won't answer ANY questions concerning ETAs.

Known Issues
We made a public bugtracker where you can see the current bugs.
You can even register and create your own bug reports
Please read the existing bugs before posting a new one!
The dev team is using another seperate bugtracker, so you won't find all open points in the public one.
But to ease the whole thing i made this special public one
The bugtracker is here.
Introduction to the new Overclocking Daemon
This ROM features a completely new way of Overclocking and managing screen states.
The History
But before explaining it further, let's talk about previous solutions.
There are several different approaches to archieve "screen-state-scaling".
That means basically that the govenor changes if you turn the screen off and changes back to normal when turning the screen on.
This is mainly used to restrict the amount of CPU usage (the frequency in fact) during screen off. This can lead to a major battery life increase.
The solutions so far were:
App like SetCPU, which change automatically the govenor based on profiles
integrated solutions in the govenor itself
Both these solutions have major problems.
The one with a tuner app is always a little laggy right after turning on the screen because SetCPU (or any other CPU tuner) needs some time to change the govenors (up to 7 seconds). This leads mostly to major lag in the lockscreen.
The second solution is the smartass govenor. It has already a screen-state-scaling included, so it reduces the frequency when the screen turn off.
This could be a really nice solution but it has some problems too.
Smartass most of the time is not really stable and has problems with its frequency scaling.
State-of-the-art-solution
So we (more precisely rmk40) thought of a better solution.
He wrote a native C Daemon which changes the govenors instantly without any lag.
This leads to major performance improvements right after turning on the screen and in the lockscreen.
But at the moment this solution is a little bit harder to configure. We are plaing to make a GUI for this, so you get the same comfort as using SetCPU.
Nevertheless you can even now adjust the daemon to your needs.
Be aware that the daemon only works if all CPU tuner apps are deinstalled. Otherwise it deactivates itself.
How to adjust the daemon
The daemon is configured with 6 files in the folder /system/etc/virtuous_oc/.
There are 3 files for the wake state and 3 for the sleep state. For each state one file for the govenor, one for the minimal frequency and one for the maximal frequency.
You can easily edit these files eg. with RootExplorer or any other app which can edit system files. So you can adjust the frequencies and the govenor for each state just like with SetCPU.
In order to get the available frequencies for the current kernel, just open your favorite terminal app and type
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_frequencies
You could also use adb shell to show the frequencies on your computer.
To get the available govenors use a similar approach:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_available_governors
Please make sure, you are entering the right values in the daemon's config files.

The Pyramid doesn't have Dolby, so this is obviously not in atm.
SRS does something, but i think it's not perfect right now.

Sounds like the same "issue" the Kingdom Port of Capy has. Since SRS isnt featured by the Sensation nor the Kingdom, its kind of a little "dirty" workaround without a perfect outcome. Lets see how that can be resolved in the future.
Still wondering why Sensation and Kingdom (and more future HTC Phones?) doesnt have SRS ... I thought it was a really nice enhancement.

Exactly. That should be the problem.
I'm not sure, but for Dolby/SRS support...maybe this snd3254 workaround for CM/MIUI ROM's will work for Sense ROM's too?
I'll try it though after flashing this ROM. Thanks for the hard work.

Change log: thanks to J2k3, SB03 and cerchiara for suggestions and feedback!
removed custom gallery and added stock 3D gallery due to MMS pics not displaying
added Flash Player from FC09 stock- seems to improve web browsing
added stock Swype- seems to play nice even when paid or trial versions from Play co-exist with stock Swype (Face it; when you upgrade to another flagship phone, you'll need to practice sweeping a keyboard sometime; beats tapping on a tiny virtual kb and missing mostly all the time! Start practicing in landscape mode.)
re-themed Mms.apk (no more transparency wallpaper but chat bubbles are reformed)
re-themed contacts and dialer backgrounds- darker bg image courtesy of MWBehr @ xda from contributed work on transparent contacts on Cut & Paste ROM
re-themed the pull-downs again; sharpened corners & now 10% darker (I may go to 94% opacity like the pull-down transparency; let me know)
re-based the main system apps with a more recent apktool in hopes of increasing compatibility with newer 3rd party apps
note: this was to be a final ROM pending findings and suggestions; suggestions and feedback lead to some of the changes. Thanks for the input and encouragement. This still remains a daily ROM for me but may not be much longer since I'm due an upgrade and looking into new phone releases with 4G-LTE. I think Sprint and Samsung missed opportunities with the S4 and Note 3; I'm still looking for a good tri-band LTE flagship phone! But still hoping to get this ROM to a lesser need to update frequently and still supporting as a user.

V6 SuperCharger Options: to add a quick widget for PowerShift on the fly:
1) open ScriptManager and navigate to location of script (V6 uses /data/V6_SuperCharger/PowerShift_Scripts... "Calculator-(8,12, 39,46,53,60)" is default but try as many as you like, use the one you like best), press and ensure Su is highlighted and "Save"d (You can mark as many as you like for quick widgets but do not set as boot; change as needed).
2) find open space on preferred home-screen, press/hold empty space (1x1 is the widget size), scroll left and select "Widgets", scroll to SMWidgets (available from google play if missing; should be in flash included /data/app), click "Add one script widget" and select your desired widget previously marked in first step.
Note: scheduled Flush-O-matic acts as a cache drop for freeing unneeded RAM cache left when exiting an app that may be using a lot of RAM every 4 hours. If you wish to adjust this, you'll need to download the script to adjust options; option 30.

Instructions and warnings:
How do I flash this?
Download, verify md5, back-up in CWM to be safe. If you are already on a TW ROM with MTD/yaffs partitioning, you can keep your data and just wipe cache and dalvik and flash (don't forget to backup, first). If you are on any other type of ROM, you should backup and wipe data first. I have heard from one source that ODIN is not required, if coming from CM but I have not tested that, myself. If trying, remember to flash the ROM twice or flash, reboot recovery and flash again. Note: Large TW kernels do not support TWRP; to be safe, do not inject TWRP recovery. (for CM to TW, personally, I'd recommend back-up, ODIN, root and then flash this). If unsure, read; clean install is the recommended method if having problems. If something does not appear to be working, let me know. This is MTD; if you are coming from ODIN or or currently using BML, this flash will auto-convert to MTD. Note: to get back to BML, you would need to ODIN with victory PIT file and repartion option selected.
To be safe: Be aware that is a development ROM. Although I've flashed and tested this in many different ways, some things still need to be tested. If anything should go wrong, you should be familiar and comfortable with the use of ODIN to recover a semi-bricked device: here.
Description and Credits:
Legacy ROM: an honorary gift from previous and current developers on a now outdated device (yeah, but I hope to get a Galaxy S4 LTE-A or Note 3, soon). What is this? updated 8/1/2013
As the description states: This is a new ROM built from kennyglass123's deodexed from stock FC09 to include all modifications from the gingerbread gits still maintained by SenseiSimple and toadlife. Other mods have been added and available in XDA and elsewhere. Briefly, it includes the mods included in TPR (The People's ROM by kennyglass123) with exception of the flying-in transitions. Legacy ROM uses the ICS transitions found in SenseiSimple's git along with all those found there for TouchWiz FC09 ROMs. I've also added Zeppelinrox's V6 SuperCharger script and Chainfire's latest SuperSU (reverted to Superuser by ChainsDD 9/3/2013). It is rooted but you need to be rooted in order to flash. I've also included Center-Clock-Mod and a smooth scrolling mod. Mms.apk has search and suggestive search fixes that were introduced by modding the AndroidManifest.xml for transparency to wallpaper.
Some images and animations borrowed from ROM Toolbox with jrummy16's explicit permission. There are many others that will be recognized and hopefully, all thanked for their contributions. Additionally, I'd like to thank Travmofosho, kennyglass123 and Nash for porting much of the original theme works to gingerbread. I've also used some theme work from Tha_Dynasty2049, Thomasskull666 and Paul Diddy. If you know of someone I missed, even yourself, please help to credit those that gave freely. As a courtesy, thank them if you like their reproduced work and see them check-in on this thread.
Additional Credits: Thanks all and please help me keep this credit list accurate. Thanks TexasEpic4G for the scenic banner!
"Big thanks to all previous and current developers of the Epic that made this effort simplistically as possible.

Zeppelinrox's V6 SuperCharger script integrated into ROM. You can flash, and perform an extra boot to start service. EarthBound's zipalign included on boot, including initial flash 'n boot. Other V6 options available in Terminal Emulator are sclean, fixfc, vac and flush. Please read his tread. Zeppelinrox links xda updates via tweets.
SuperSU (root)- Read about the SuperSU in XDA, here, and thank Chainfire. Root is now secured by SuperSU.
Sprint Connections Optimizer
Most Bloat removed; see kennyglass123's TPR thread for extra bloat flashable
Samurai custom FC09 kernel
- Voodoo sound
- Voodoo color
- Overclocking (enable higher frequencies in included Control Freak app)
- Undervolting (Stock voltages default; default I/O Scheduler and CPU Governor: vr/Samurai are a good setup for this ROM; alternate could be sio/wheatley)
Logsprovider fix...no texts in log (found in git)
swipe notification mod- thanks Ca1ne
GPS Fix - Thanks Heinkhieu
Hotspot Hack - Thanks Necrosan (found in git)
Modified Power Menu - Thanks to untermensch (found in git)
Scrollable status bar toggles - Thanks SenseiSimple (found in git)
ICS Transitions (found in git)
CRT Off animation (found in git)
CRT-On animation -there are sources for this but I cannot recall the contributor that simplified this mod; help please!
Smooth scroll- thanks AndroidOn (This feature removed in releases, after 7/20/2013)
Volume rocker mod (sound on to vibrate to silent) thanks mkasick (found in git)
Screen stays off when unplugged
No battery full popup (I use a visual "full" icon at the 1% battery because the icon is more accurate than blue light for bump charge users)
Removed audible low battery warning when screen is ON as well as that fake shutdown screech; it's now a silent pop-up at 5%. There are no interruptions of service or impact to performance.
Low Battery audio warning tone still sounds on boot or Screen-Off when battery is less than 5%; powers-down at 0%.
Included visual battery low warnings starting at 14% (battery % changes from white% to Red%) At 4% it starts animating with battery "!" icon.
Charge animation has been simplified; no wasted resources and bulk to animate a charge from current% to 100%; the UOT Decimal animates with charging icon to accomplish a reasonable charge animation. credit or criticism to me on those mods. Other mentionables: UOT Kitchen and LeoMar75 for in-depth GB mod
Center Clock Mod with no notification overlap- thanks to Ticklefish and sdojoin
Modified stock Lockscreen slider and ring- Sorry, I forgot the source of my original png but I modded it.
Some different sounds - thanks to Nash, SenseiSimple and others I'm sure
Blue Gingerbread Keyboard - disable other keyboards to use -thanks GregTard (and Orlzzt for finding it)
Transparent Mms.apk with tinted chat bubbles and fixes for text search and suggested search- by myself and MWBehr
Transparent Contacts- thanks MWBehr
Semi-transparent-curved dialer ported (by samep) from an original work kept alive by Paul Diddy's archive; sorry, I've forgotten the original author's id
Simple In-call dialer theme thanks to Paul Diddy for those buttons, too; backgound by me (samep)
Theme port by me, samep, thanks to the many sources here: Paul Diddy, Travmofosho, Nash, Tha_Dynasty2049, & Thomasskull666. Special thanks to jrummy16 for permission to use images and OG Droid bootanimation from ROM Toolbox; see pull-down animation and hidden GB Easter-egg.
Pull-down-animation with non-transparent background runs once and clears out of view, leaving semi-transparent notification background. All individual dividers removed to allow better view of animation.
TW Launcher (not present in later releases)
Removable apps: Titanium Backup, LBE Privacy, Control Freak, Script Manager and widgets, Voice Serach, and Customizable Gallery.
Intent:
To bring a well-equipped ROM and tool to end-users that is both pleasing to the eye and succeed with minimal flashing and tuning. You may recognize the kernel splash screen; kenny gave permission to use that. (it's the only version of the EB FC09 kernel with notification LED fixed). It's also EarthBound's best kernel for FC09 and needs no special tweaking; defaults are a very good starting point. Voltage Control is included in the flash as well as Titanium Backup, if needed for your paid apps restoration. SuperSU helps to avoid an issue loading wrong su binary from market, if updating to newest superuser but, so far, I've had no issue updating SuperSU and using the suggested su binary it asks the user to upgrade to. The included busy box is the one from SuperCharger Starter Kit and the V6 SuperCharger script is setup to launch at flash but doesn't go continuous service until rebooted once after the initial flash and boot. There is also a programmed 8-hour flush to free up RAM to hopefully reduce lag without inducing lag. You can test and adjust all these scripts to suit yourself but at least you can gain from from not having to set this up, initially. For updates and useful hints; read Zeppelinrox's OP and read some more. The added feature is only the beginning; V6 changes frequently and discussion is both educational and lively. No need to discuss much about V6-SC, here. Start here, if needed. Don't forget to thank him while you're there, if you haven't before. His work is also linked in his signature.
I've also included Black Market and YouTube by B-boy™ among the free apps that may frequently have to be loaded or restored when flashing a new ROM. His blacked-out/inverted and transparent apps are here. Thank him here.
Testing, notes & suggestions:
Testing
As far as I know, Legacy ROM versions are stable. I had asked volunteers to test 4G Wimaxx and hotspot tethering; no 4G here for me. One user of Legacy ROM v1.03 confirms 4G is working... not much complaints but requests were made for changes. I was maintaining more than one version to accommodate some users' requests but some have PM'd farewell wishes as they moved to other forums after phone upgrade so the multiple versions' support has ceased pending further requests which I do consider.
You've tested, now what?
Post your feedback. Request proposed changes. Test and share feedback. Like it? Use it. Wanna change something and share it? Fine but don't forget to credit the sources, including myself (some of my work is in there, too.)
Some V6_SuperCharger notes are here.
Color issues? see this post for voodoo app settings. thanks to Marcusant, lilajrestnom, and elevans for options, testing and searching.
Force Close or black screen with or without shutdown Issues? You need a good Superuser application that updates the su binary correctly on this phone, Superuser by ChainsDD and Superuser by ClockworkMod have been tested. ChainsDD su binary 3.0.3.2 can be found in BlackDogROM1.03 seems best suited to quickly and correctly declare a Force Close and allow you to Force a Close of app and continue without hanging up or rebooting. Sadly, there are third-party apps that can be tested but the developers have been notified of the issues. Android 2.3 is not fully supported by third-party apps but mostly functional. And I found that newer su binaries don't seem to be expecting these issues and SuperSU and some others were not correctly updating the su after install or upgrade. I was manually updating SuperSU and releasing new ROMs until I realized the Force Close issues were not properly declared and hanging the UI for prolonged periods. No disrespect intended to developers; I think we all share the burden for the unanticipated actions that lead to Force Closes so I'm not pointing any fingers. The Superuser apps are probably best suited for rooting and maintaining root newer devices, anyway.
Screenies and quick note: battery used for capacity testing is a 2000 mAh third-party product with GT18 months of use; on average, it provides about an extra hour of display time compared to the 1500 mAh OEM battery which still performs well. Some third-party batteries may actually be smaller in size, requiring extra backing to keep secure contact with terminals; my OEM battery fits tighter than any battery I've purchased. (I use a strand of electrical tape running along bottom, back and top of battery to fill the void.)

Legacy ROM...as I interpret the term, legacy, an honorary gift from previous and current developers on a now outdated device (yeah, but I hope to get a Galaxy S4, soon). As well as the implied: use at your own risk...I am not responsible for anything that could go wrong... please read before asking questions...Download link is at bottom of this post.
What is this?
As the description states: This is a new ROM built from kennyglass123's deodexed from stock FC09 to include all modifications from the gingerbread gits still maintained by SenseiSimple and toadlife. Other mods have been added and available in XDA and elsewhere. Briefly, it includes the mods included in TPR (The People's ROM by kennyglass123) with exception of the flying-in transitions. Legacy ROM uses the ICS transitions found in SenseiSimple's git along with all those found there for TouchWiz FC09 ROMs. I've also added Zeppelinrox's V6 SuperCharger script and Chainfire's latest SuperSU.
After the source and credits get updated, I hope to move this thread to the development thread. Suggested source code or theme will be will be considered to make this a fun collaborative effort, if it doesn't lose support due to its predictable short-life-expectancy.
I have heard from one source that ODIN is not required, if coming from CM but I have not tested that, myself (for CM to TW, personally, I'd recommend back-up, ODIN, root and then flash this).
Why post this in the general forum?
I have yet to compile an accurate list of included features and credits. My notes on file at home were lost due to a local issue and I'm gathering that data again to post in the development thread at a later time. Meanwhile, this is ready for testing. I need volunteers to test 4G Wimaxx and hotspot tethering; no 4G here for me.
You've tested, now what?
Post your feedback. Request proposed changes. Offer to help with screenshots and decorative forum splashes, if inclined to share something useful to others considering a test run of their own. Like it? Use it. Wanna change something and share it? Fine but don't forget to credit the sources, including myself (some of my work is in there, too.)
Suggestions:
Other than just going back to your favorite launcher, the Lightning Launcher can be easily setup to suit your own use. I recommend adding to each home-screen before removing all that is there to preserve that screen's programmed stops. Otherwise, the setup becomes a little more complicated. The tutorials are linked on home-screen. The initial setup is very good if you only need three home-screens. You can add many more and even scroll up, down, left, right for multiple home-screens if you like. The dated thread on LL suggests that you have to buy a widget to use your app widgets; no longer the case, you can setup app widgets. Live wallpaper is supported but AFAIK, you have to set a shortcut in gestures to do that: I used "Two Fingers Down" swipe gesture and selected "wallpaper" function from the drop-down list to get LWP supported. I also programmed the Home key to get notifications from pull-down; interestingly, now the Back key finds my home screen like the former Home key when viewing the home-screens.
Read about the SuperSU in XDA, here, and thank Chainfire. Root is now secured by SuperSU.

Nice job samep. Good to see you still continuing on with the work we once started. Sorry that I haven't been around much to help. Been trying to learn new things from the pros and family and personal life has taken much of my time. Luckily there are other talented minds out there in effsi and dropple and bthorne79 and saramon to help keep us Rollin on the good ol OG epic. This is the best group of guys I've ever worked with. Gonna test this as soon as I get to my PC. Thanks bro.

Working on it but it's not really in my skill set. Anyone willing to make some; please do.
If you saw Cut & Paste Extra Crispy version, the differences would be most noted in theme, animated pull-down, boot animation, charge animation and lock screen. The large UOT Decimal 0-100% battery remains but I centered the clock and moved the low battery warning from wherever it was to 5%. The bonus on the warning is that if your screen is on, no audible warning; just a visual pop-up. I was able to remove that fake shutdown that would interrupt services like hang-up a phone call in-progress. No more startling warning tones while your holding the phone but if the screen is off or you boot with battery 5% or less, you will get the audible warning of low battery.
So to characterize low battery warnings while display remains on:
LT 15% battery % indicator turns from white to red (as in Cut & Paste Extra-Crispy)
5% you get a pop-up warning to plug-in.
LT 5% an animation starts to cycle between battery % (red) to !battery symbol.
0%-phone turns off
Use responsibly; you have been warned; lol! I did this for my own liking; what do you think? Keep it or go back to 15% or 20% screeeeech-fake-shutdown? Personally, that annoyed me. The best way to get 100% out of our battery is to wipe the battery stats when flashing new ROM or less than 50% on a reboot. If you needed until it shut down; you'd have it without it interrupting service. No risk to battery life AFAIK.
Actually, the differences are mostly in animation and function that screen shots may miss. IDK how in-depth screenshots can go; a video review may reveal more about this ROM than screenshots(?) I didn't give it wallpaper but I am open to suggestions.

Sorry, I've been slacking on the screenies. I just added 3 to the OP.
The wallpaper is not default (yet); let me know if this one is wanted or not. I'm taking requests for wallpaper but I do want to keep it dark and natural looking. This one is time lapsed.
Working on an update due to some market apps updating and minor appearance changes.
Possible revision upcoming and V6_SuperCharger Notes
I'm now holding off on an update I had uploaded & posted in OP; sorry to say that it looks like one of the build.prop may be breaking bluetooth. If you installed v1.02, test Bluetooth ( I couldn't get mine to turn on until I backed the build.prop out and went back to to a revised one). I'll see if I can add some battery savers in and leave out whatever is impacting Bluetooth enable). Removing the link until I sort this out. I would delete the post but the notes about V6_SuperCharger may still be of some use.
upcoming change log
update market apps
minor theme change (most of them in extended power menu and alternate AOSP lockscreen)
possibly add more battery saving tweaks to build.prop to test; from here.
Now may be a good time to review (for those not familiar) the script commands found in Zeppelinrox's thread.
To Test:
Open a Terminal Emulator session and type "cat /proc/*/cmdline | grep Super" (only what is inside the quotes)
If you get only "Super", the service is not running.
If running, the return also returns /system/etc/init.d/99SuperCharger & /data/99SuperCharger.sh
Things to look for:
browse to sdcard and see if a file something like "!SuperCharger.html" exists. If so, the text inside has a link to a help file from Zeppelinrox to help you. As a troubleshooting help, the file copies to your sdcard when running the script. You can also delete this file after running the script successfully to know that if it appears again, there may be an issue running a service a boot. Just remember, it may have appeared again because you ran the script but did not delete it.
You can also check your logs found at /data (use a root browser to navigate and check) for the various services ran at boot; they may give clues to problems encountered. You can also read the script for your setup. Note: I used thses while troubleshooting the integration of V6_SuperCharger into the ROM. I don't anticipate problems unless you've made changes.
How to make changes:
You'll need to download the latest Zeppelinrox script. see the OP for link; you also need this for updates to V6_SuperCharger services. Outside of flashing this ROM, your support for V6_SuperCharger service should come from searching and reading his thread.
Sorry, but to uninstall V6-SuperCharger, you'll need to download the script.
If you have no previous settings but want to make changes, run the script and select "Driver Options" to make those changes.
Already have V6_SuperCharger and don't want my setup?
I have not tested this theory but I think if you run the script and charge from sdcard (default) on your initial boot, you will overwrite all my settings. Also, I think as long as the script is not run, your SDcard settings remain unchanged. No guarantees; I have not tested this.
Terminal Emulator Options:
type "su" then V6_SuperCharger command as follows, below
"fixalign"- Two operations in one- fix permissions and zipalign
"vac"- cleans the Database
"sclean"- superclean and restart (really not necessary as service is setup to continually run)
"flush"- delete some cache to make more RAM available
Note: want to do all the above? Just reboot; done!
Note: There is a delay in starting the SuperCharger Service after a boot. Due to startup programs and other services trying to start, you cannot expect initial speediness after a boot. I've tried to keep the phone on a flush schedule of 8 hours. It's also untested but there could be times that an timely flush could cause lag. Please let me know if this becomes an issue and any steps you may have tried or are familiar with to avoid this possibility. It's possible that a ScriptManager Widget for "vac" may work better on demand. Thanks!
Running this now--extremely awesome ROM! It is fast, smooth, and stable for me. I'll test 4g tomorrow when I go out (dont have it at home).
Request: Can you give an option to disable the android drawing when the notification bar is pulled down? It's cool, but pretty distracting when it does it every time.
Thanks for your hard work
Re: [ROM][FC09][TW-MTD] Legacy ROMv1.01
Well, I can remove it altogether and post an alternate download.
Do you like the aosp lock screen better than TouchWiz? I was gonna post a link for one, later. If so, I'll make them in one flash. No pulldown animation with aosp lock screen included.

My vote definitely goes for AOSP lockscreen, it always seemed easier on the thumb. Also I'm for a no animation version
v1.03 with AOSP lock-screen, no animated pull-down and updates
Download: FC09.LegacyROMv1.03_MTD.zip (linked in OP); Please read updated flash instructions just below...
Flash Instructions:
Backup data or nandroid
Wipe data, cache and dalvik
Flash ROM
Restore Data or advanced restore data from nandroid
Reboot once more
Note: This version has been removed; discovered why it can only be clean installed. New version to be released, soon.
change log:
improved V6_Supercharger integration
improved some .png's for AOSP lock-screen and extended power-menu
added a few more battery saver tweaks to build.prop- thanks omair2005
removed pull-down animation
removed Lightning Launcher and installed ADW Launcher
