[Q] Google Navigation randomly changes voice?! - General Questions and Answers

Hi all,
My phone:
Original Motorola Droid
Rooted
Running Cyanogen Mod 7.1
Using V6 Supercharger with multi-tasking settings
Overclocked to 1000mhz
I have this strange problem I can't find the source of.
I frequently use Google Maps Navigation.
In the past the voice is the standard robotic sounding voice with the turn-by-turn directions and speaking full road names during navigation.
Recently starting about a month ago I would use my navigation like normal, However the navigation voice would randomly (at a point after maybe 5-10 minute into the trip or more) change to a different voice that sounds much less robotic and would only speak turns, example "turn left", "turn right" and not speak road names.
On top of that the navigation app, and eventually the whole phone would freeze and then shortly after reboots.
Needless to say my nav app is useless in this state and I'm at a loss to find a fix.
I have tried removing any other apps that might have a alternate voice installed, such as Google Translate, and a virtual assistant app called Eva.
I do still have Vlingo installed and I like using it so I have neglected to remove it. I have even completely removed Google maps, and wiped every file with maps in its name from my SD card and from the root FS with root explorer.
I'm frustrated and if any of you fine people have any tips for me id love to hear them
Thanks,
tw3ak.

Mine has been doing this as well lately. I used navigation twice a day every day on my way to and from work and it's done this a few times in the past couple weeks.
The voice is nicer, but also quieter.
I have an evo 4g.

I was doing a web search for this exact problem and found this thread. It seems only a handful of people have experienced it.
I have the Loquendo TTS engine, and lately the navigation is starting to use the "canned" non-TTS voice. If I quit navigation and restart it enough times, I eventually get my TTS voice back. Unlike what others have reported online, on my phone it seems that when google nav picks one or the other it sticks with it instead of switching randomly between the two.
I haven't seen anyone report it being fixed yet.

[Q] Spontanous Issue with Google Voice Not opening

Doesn't seem like there is a specific forum for google voice (there probably should be)
Recently I have the most annoying of issues. Seems google voice will not open. I did the usual trouble shooting. Uninstalling google voice, deleting the data, re installing from market several times. Still has the issue where I click on the icon, it flashes up, then the app disappears. Its kind of like giving me a taste. Trouble is I am on prepaid and completely using google voice so this is essential for me.. It literally takes me about 20 times of clicking the icon for it the app to pop up and stay up.
Any thoughts on this? I have no other issues with any other apps. Well once yesterday messaging did this, but it only flashed once..
I installed an app called watchdog lite earlier this week. Thinking perhaps it was that app I added google voice to the "white list" but it wont stay up. Most annoying. I have no other task killer (ATK, etc) or anything. And actually watchdog just monitors CPU usage, will not kill apps.
Thanks!
For future reference this issue seems like a permissions fix is the solution.

Google Search Serious Problem

Hello all,
I have recently received my Nexus 5 and everything seems to be great. However, I have encountered a major (to me anyway) problem. It seems that Google Search from the persistent bar has a habit of freezing. To be more specific, it works fine for a while upon a boot. However, after prolonged use the search function becomes unresponsive. I am still able to select the bar but search does not work.
I have narrowed down a hint to what may be causing this. In the running apps section of the setting, I see Google Search is in cashed processes. When I select to stop this process Google Search resumes its normal function. Can anyway relate or provide advice to what may be causing this?

[Q] Voice App Problems

Running I727, with CM 11-20140304, when I try to use voice dial, or google now, or any other app that needs to listen to my voice, they don't listen. I pull up the microphone, and half the time the microphone never activates, the other half, it activates and lights up, flashes or whatever it's supposed to do, but when I speak nothing happens. When I first reboot they will work within two minutes of the reboot, but after the two minutes or the first usage they no longer work. If it was just one app I would think it was the app, but I've got eight apps in all that use voice to one extent or another, and none of them work correctly. I have so many because some apps just include it, like play store search, keyboard, and such, then I installed google now, and dragon to see which one I like the best but neither of them work. I feel it's in CM, because so many apps have the same problem. any ideas what might be wrong?

[Q] "OK Google" No Longer Working

The stats first,
HTC Rezound
Rooted
Infection 2.5
I last used Google Now on my way home from work on Tuesday. Normally, I would open Google Now. Then, when I say "OK Google" it would respond, and I could do what needed to be done. However, this morning, on the way into the office, no go. I can open Google Now, but the "OK Google" command does not work.
I checked the setting in Google Now, and Hot Word detection is set to On. Also, the microphone icon in the search bar on the Google Now screen is white. ( I learned this means that OK Google key word is active)
The only thing I have changed since then is updated applications as they become available. The only Google app I recall updating since Tuesday was Google+, but there might have been other Google apps, and I know I updated several other applications.
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Android Auto Problems

Hey guys
I'm having strange problems with Android Auto on Honor 8x.
Sometimes, it works great. The navigation bar shows up, and when I click the audio button, I can see Pocket Casts and Spotify as intended.
However, about 2/3rds of the time, Android Auto doesn't work properly. Either, the bar at the bottom is blank, or my audio apps are not recognized, and pressing the audio button gives the prompt 'Pull over and install android auto apps when it is safe to do so'.
I'm trying to figure out why it works sometimes and other times not, but I can't for the life of me figure it out. I've tried making sure spotify is open before connecting the phone, I've tried making sure it's fully closed, wiping caches of android auto and google apps doesn't seem to make a difference after the initial set up either.
Anyone else?
I'm having exactly the same issue except for me Google play music always appears; just Spotify is sometimes there/sometimes isn't
I initially thought it was a Spotify issue and downloaded Deezer which had exactly the same issue after a few days
I've found sometimes that rebooting the phone works but I've also resorted to reinstalling Spotify at times
I'm just sitting waiting patiently in a hope that it's some "feature" which gets fixed when pie is rolled out, but who knows!
Let us know if you find a fix! ??
I've given up
Mine was just weird full stop! Screen goes weird and kept locking up, half the time 'hey google' wouldn't work amongst other things. I ended up deleting it.
Glad to see it's not only me. It's great when it works, but it's always when I'm about to head out on a long drive that it ****s the bed. The 15 minute journey to town of course, everything's mint..... Having other problems with the phone as well with it's heavy-handed regulation of pretty much everything. No DNS-based or VPN-based adblock can seem to stay alive either. Tried them all! I really hope a decent custom ROM comes out one day, but if not I will probably cut my losses and head back to Moto. Shame really, because it's great value for money and an AOSP version of same hardware would be mint.
