Will it work I bought one from internet?! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Hi guys, how are you doing?
Excuse me for my English
I've HTC Incredible S, I bought it from UK before a year ago.
I'm in US right now and get a simcard from At&T and paid for the Data plan but unfortunately it doesn't work!
the seller told me it should be American phone or from At&T :/
So, If I bought the Samsung Galaxy S II SkyRocket from eBay or Amazon, will it work perfectly and the data plan will work or not?!
(because I've found it from ebay $205)
I hope I can an answer for this question
Amjad

The HTC Incredible S should work with the AT&T sim. Did you take it to a AT&T store? They probably have to adjust your settings for you to use it.
If you get the Skyrocket, make sure its an AT&T version.

my Incredible S work perfect with AT&T but the data plan doesn't work because the seller told me (the phone must be from America or from AT&T) :/
So, because of that I'm asking, If I bought the Galaxy S II Skyrocket AT&T (at&t logo on the phone) from eBay, will the data plan will work or not?!
I want to change my phone because of the Data plan. I need Internet in my phone everywhere I go.

Yes the skyrocket will work on at&t its an at&t phone

I'm sorry I didn't reply to you silver03wrx
So, did you recommend me to buy it from ebay? (Here is the link)
because it's cheaper than the store + in the store I must bay $500 deposit :/
Q: If I bay the phone from the link, How much will I bay monthly?
I hope you understand me
and I hope you can help me

Depends on what phone plan you go with. Most plans for just 1 smart phone will cost around $80 to $100.
It all depends on how many minutes you want and how much internet you want (200mb or 2gb).
Just to let you know, that link you posted requires a contract. So you would likely still need a deposit to get it.

Yeah, if I bought it I'll bay monthly around $85.

Oh no, Is there anyway can I get the phone without a deposit?!
I have $250 (the phone price) but cannot bay for the deposit
any other websites you suggest for me to buy the phone...

Check out www.ebay.com. To get a brand new smart phone like the skyrocket you'll be likely paying at least $400. You may want to think about getting a less expensive phone for your price range.

On your incredible s all you have to do is input the at&t apn settings manually to pick up data and mms

Q: I've see the new Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket in eBay, this is the link
They wrote "Early Termination Fee $325". What does it mean?
+
I complete every thing, like chosen New Customer and Individual (24-Month) and I've choose the plan (Nation Talk Individual - 450), DataPro 2GB and Messaging Unlimited
before I checkout, in table there are:
1/ One Time Charges* = $36.00
*One time activation fees applied to your first month's bill only.
Q: Does it mean that I'll pay for this just one time?
Q: when I should pay for it?
--
2/Monthly Charges† = $84.99
†These items will be billed by your carrier and do not include all fees, taxes and surcharges.
Q: Does it mean that this is my bill each month?!
When I click Next and wrote my address info, in the last there are:
NOTE: Early Termination Fee of up to $325.00 may apply.
Q: What does it mean?
Q: Will I going to pay or give them the $325.00 or what?
But in the last they ask me for the Social Security and I don't have one! I just have an US ID card.
I hope you can answer the questions, and forgive me if it's long questions
last question: What if someone (American person) give me his/her Social Security number to put it in the website to buy the phone. What will happen?!
Thank you for helping me, and i'm sorry to take your time

1) Early Termination fees apply when you cancel ur plan before it expires. Like if you cancel ur phone line within next 24 months att will charge you fees up to $325.
2) $36 You will pay only one time. You have to pay when you get new plan.
3)$84.99+tax is ur monthly bill.
4)If you use someone's social than you will need to get their info. Their info will be used instead of urs.

[Q] Cheapest cell phone plan to the Nexus S

I am moving to the US for six months, and buying the NS is the first thing on my list
But I'm not an american, and don't entirely understand how cell plans works there.
What is the cheapest possibility for me? I need unlimited data, and some call minutes and texts, but it doesn't need to be unlimited. Since I'm only staying for six months, I don't want to be in a two-year agreement.
Can I for instance buy the NS unlocked from T-mobile, and then get the "Everyting Data - With Any Mobile" for 69.99 from Sprint? Is that the cheapest I can get?

the cheapest way should be T-Mobile with the Even More Plus which does not require any contract. If you want the NS you will have to pick one of two GSM carriers which are T-Mobile and AT&T.
So T-mobile Even More with unlimited data and 500 talk for 79.99 is the way to go? This is over 40% more expensive than in Norway for unlimited everything. Not fun.
There is an "Even More Plus" plan that is off contract. T-Mobile pulled it from their website last month, but you can still get it if you go to one of their stores. Just Google "Even More Plus". It's about $20 less a month than then Even More plan and you are not on a 2 year contract. At&t does not have off contract plans.

T-Mobile EM+ FlexPay will be the best bet. Since NS supports T-Mobile 3G band (you can use 2G on both T-Mobile and AT&T though), you can enjoy better internet experience with T-mobile.
EM+ 3 in 1 (TTW) FlexPay
$60 with 500 minutes
$70 with 1000 minutes
$80 unlimited minutes
These plans include messaging (text and MMS) and internet service.
If you want to use the phone as modem (it has mobile hotspot, so you can tether over wifi), you may need to pay $15, but you should try it first before paying the fee. If you don't see any error, you don't have to pay.
If you can get away with not getting FlexPay ie. your credit is good enough for a normal account don't get FlexPay. I work for T-Mobile and FlexPay is one of the worse things T-Mobile has. Its nice for people who have bad credit or no credit but when you are trying to do things with your account you are very limited to what you can do. I mean very limited.

Google Voice uses minutes since it calls a US-based phone number to route your call that way. However, it looks like the Nexus S will be able to do VoIP with a SIP account. So you could do that.
I don't think T-Mobile will let you get a data-only plan on a phone though.
Buy the phone full price and dont get sucked into a contract that you will eventually pay full price for phone anyway
Get the $60 with 500 minutes
on contract its $79 month
in canada mobilicity has
Unlimited north america calls
unlimited world-wide texting
unlimited 3g+ (that nexus s does not use ) data
voice mail
caller id
all for 40$ per month
If you buy a t-mobile phone unlocked, it'll only run on a gsm carrier with gsm plans.
Sprint, Verizon and Metro PCS are CDMA and therefor their networks are incompatible with the nexus s.
Your best bet would be to buy it unlocked and buy a t-mobile pre-paid sim or something because its I think $1 a day for unlimited internet and $.10 per text and minute used I think

You can buy a simple mobile sim card and you can have everything unlimited calls, picture, text, video messages and internert. Simple mobile works with T-Mobiles antennas. All of it for $60.00 exact no taxes and its a good choice I had T-Mobile $59.99 plan 500 mins, text and unilimited data and it came out around $80 something with charges i didnt understand. So if u dont want to pay the extra charges beside the plan i suggest u to get simple mobile.

You have 2 options:
1. Even More Plus data only plan for smartphones: $40/month, no contract, voice calling is optional
2. PAYG webpass $1.5/day, but I don't recommend it because it's pretty unreliable (too much error when you try to subscribe).
Postpaid plans require your Social Security Number (an number for US residents), that's why I recommend FlexPay except T-Mobile allows temporary residents (no SSN) to have postpay plans.

Thunderbolt envy

I went to the Verizon store today thinking that I would trade up on my HTC Incredible only to find out that Verizon got rid of the upgrade anytime ability. They said I could get a Thunderbolt, but it would cost me $600.
Oh how nice it would be to have a Thunderbolt. Anyone have any ideas to fight this with Verizon?

Seeing as promotions are not contractual, there's not really anything you can do. All I can suggest is seeing as the T-bolt is SIM based, see if you can get someone to do an insurance claim on theirs saying they lost it and buy it off of them. They might try to blank out the IMEI but the SIM should counteract that.

He would have to activate the "lost" phone to even get a SIM card, which wouldn't happen because the IMEI would already be flagged. Since this is Verizon's only 4G device, how would he go about getting a SIM card? The SIM cards are useless once they've been activated on an account and then replaced with a new one, so using the other person's old one isn't an option.

Actually if he found someone to do the lost phone deal. he could then go buy the cheapest sim-based phone outright, have it set to his account then take the sim card and put it in the t.
But the cheapest one i think is about 200.00 plus any changes it does to the contract (if any) and the at least 90.00 cost for the t's replacement. would end up costing over half the cost of the t and that's only if he gets lucky on the cost of the t

How do you then get a 4G SIM? Verizon's only other SIM based devices are all 3G "world phones" that I'm pretty sure only use the SIM cards when not in the US. Verizon's not gonna say "oh, sure, you want a 4G SIM for your Blackberry.. no problem". Unless, of course, he just never wanted to utilize LTE. I don't know enough about Verizon to be certain, but was an AT&T Mobility Resolution Specialist for a while.. and what you're suggesting would definitely not work with AT&T(given the same conditions of them only having 1 device using the new network). However, how much is an outright USB 4G Modem? NVM, that would not include voice plans, and they'd know something was up when he tried to add one to a modem LOL.. seriously, I dunno if this is possible. Even if it was, would possibly just be easier to save for a bit and just buy the phone.

You are confusing gsm and lte. They arebnot the same. DON'T DO IT! won't get you anywhere + it's insurance fraud.
Could maybe add a line to your acct. Essentially paying $240 over the course of your contract plus $250 for the phone... It's a little cheaper.

I am not an attorney ... but this seems like quite a fraud. You have to ask (and convince) a 'friend' to lie that they lost their phone. Then you have to lie during the activation process. Seems like a heck of a conspiracy for a few hundred dollars. I would NEVER ask a friend to participate in this type of scam.
On the other hand ... I 'lost' my Thunderbolt.

I pay $9.50 or so a month for unlimited talk with the [email protected] service. I have a corp discount rate though; normally I think its around $12.00 a month? The service for new customers has been discontinued for about a year now but T-Mobile still provides it for standing customers.
When i purchased my vibrant through amazon i had to change my data plan. As soon as I activated the phone I was able to call tmobile and tell them that I wanted my old data plan and they switched me back. They really know how to treat their paying customers.

Nope I saved $150.00 as an incentive to renew the contract for the account containing the [email protected] service line. As a result the CSR offered me an additional -$50 off @Home account If I got the Sensation today. I couldn't pass this deal up.

Is 'customer loyalty' & 'retention' department one in the same?
quailallstar said:
Nope I saved $150.00 as an incentive to renew the contract for the account containing the [email protected] service line. As a result the CSR offered me an additional -$50 off @Home account If I got the Sensation today. I couldn't pass this deal up.
In the end its
$50 VISA gift card
$100 back in my pocket (or never out, lol)

that still only adds up to $150 off of $250... I still don't follow you lol

Just call 1-800-TMobile and say "Cancel" when it asks you what your calling for.
OR call their Executive Customer Service Dept (little hidden secret) 1-877-724-4659 or 505-341-8059

Dude the phone was $199 (upgrade price w/2 year service), -$50 (visa) -$100 (credit to my account which was 50 for the web special and the other 50 for the [email protected] contract renewal)
That equals $50
Get it now?

That's the problem.
The phone is $249, not $199.
I was offered the bill credit, I didn't ask for one.. I was happy enough getting the Sensation 4G 14 months before I was supposed to be able to.

Selling my Triumph and $25/month plan

Is anyone interested in buying my Triumph and taking over my $25/month plan. I'm looking to get $340 for everything listed below.
What you get:
Motorola Triumph (gently used and in excellent condition)
The original box and accessories
A clear/smoke rocketfish case from Best Buy
A 32gb memory card
I will go online and change the name and the address on the account to yours and give you the login (phone number) and password to take over the account. This is the $25/month plan that is no longer offered anymore (new customers are forced to the $35 plan). It includes 300 minutes per month and unlimited text and data. I am not porting the number out (I use google voice)... you can keep it and change it if you wish.
The account currently paid through 2/2/12. In addition, there is a $35 top up credit in the account which will pay for all of February and part of March. So, this phone effectively comes with 2 1/2 months of free service.
The $25/month plan is a huge plus in this package as it saves you $10/month and is no longer offered.
If you are interested, send me a pm and we can work out the details. I will go to ebay or craigslist if I don't get any offers soon.
Thanks,
mp

not sure what you're talking about (dunno anything about editing html code)
but, do you think this would work after upgrading to new phones after 5/27?
......
This is awesome. I'm on the $25 plan now but when I switch to the Evo V I'll try it.
Currently the codes are:
$35 plan == COS305
$45 plan == COS306
$55 plan == COS307
I'll post an update on 5/31 if it works

Finally got a shipping confirm, I'll have an update on the 6th.
Well it loaded the $25 plan instead of the $35 but then when I went to confirm the plan I got this error.

Not sure if this is because I now have the Evo V and it's a newer phone or they corrected the system. I will try and reactive my Triumph tomorrow to see if that phone can be activated with a $25 plan.
Thanks for the update
So the plans are code based? Interesting. It'd be nice to get the 40 dollar plan.

Oh yea it worked, instead of selecting change plan now, use change plan at end of cycle.

Wow F that. I was going to buy it without a contract but now I'll just wait the extra 2 months.

Couldn't you just preorder and add it as a new line and then cancel your current line afterwards? Even if you just got a new plan last month, the phone without a contract is more expensive than $200 + the ETF.

Hmmm? But can you keep your current cellular number by doing that? I realize that the # is programmed into the SIM, but wouldn't you need another SIM to open another line before cancelling the old line? If you cancel the original line (and therefore number) how could you get the original # back? It seems to me AT&T ties a lot together with the phones (accounts) number.

You add a new line to your current plan, not keeping your number, so you'd at one point end up having two sims. I guess it's not a good option if you want to keep your number, but I use google voice for everything anyway so that's not a big deal to me. I'm personally doing it this way because my current phone has a shattered screen and the ETF is less than what I'd pay to replace the phone with insurance while it's about the same price to just repair the screen. Just an option if anyone is really looking to get rid of their phone and they're not eligible for an upgrade, remember it's $325 - ($10 * months completed in contract), plus you'd probably end up having two phones for a month, I don't remember whether they prorate or not.
you can add a line, they run a credit check unless your already approved for 5-10 lines, then no worries. So basically, they give you a new sim, you swap your current sim (micro) and call att to swap the imei's. Then tell them you want to pay the etf fee for the newly upgraded line.
199 + tax + activation fees (if waived) = 290 (est)
199 + tax = 250
250 (w/o activation) + 325 = 575
290 w/ activation + 325 = 615
Your only saving a few bucks so its all up to you.
$699 in canada...we always get screwed here lol...everything costs more. it won't prevent me from buying it Of course just hope I can snag one the first day they are in stores

I was thinking about buying the phone at full price (the 32 GIG version when it is released) and just swapping the SIM from my S2 Skyrocket to the S4. I would then call AT&T and tell them I am using a new phone so they can update my account and insurance and remain on my current contract (I have about 7 - 8 months left). Once the current contract expires, I will continue on a month to month basis or go to T-Mobile. If possible, I will buy the phone unlocked so I might have to get it at a source other than AT&T. This way I will be able to get the phone (at full price) but I won't have to terminate the contract early and will also have the option to leave AT&T (after contract) if I want.
Do you see any potential problems with this plan?

That price was never confirmed.
IMO its best to call with AT&T particularly if you are a longer term customer. You can often sweet talk them into an early upgrade via phone where you cannot in the store because they don't seem to take the time you have been with them into account in the store as much so as on the phone. No idea why but that is my experience. Doesn't take long to run it by them so you have nothing to lose but a few minutes of your time.
is getting it from AT&T the same thing as getting the international? is there any differences?
also wouldn't it be fastest to wait outside AT&T's door on release day and pick one up in store, instead of waiting for one to ship?

this phone is too expensive full price, same with the galaxy note 8.0.
