Anyone know offhand what the difference between the two camera apps would be? Speed, quality, options?
Thanks!

It just adds an on screen shutter button (;
I just installed CM 7.1.0 from MikG and the camera leaves much to be desired. There are few features/options, the UI feels like my original Droid and there are no special effects or ability to mute sounds like shutter and what not. Quite frustrating this past weekend when I was at a wedding and wanted to take lots of pictures but it was quite other than them reading their vows and what not and after taking only one picture I put my phone away because it was so loud. I miss the camera from MikG and wish I had the special effects like some of the newer camera versions. Can anyone help me out here? Prefer a Camera app that also has the video in it if possible. Maybe just a newer version of the stock Camera or ??
Thanks!

Trying to avoid flashing another ROM right now because I'm pretty far on a game and last time I tried flashing a ROM the Titanium Backup didn't work & I had to start over again so I'm not looking to chance it again right now.

It will add a 2nd app. The miui camera is your best option, and its free. It's really good and works great with every aosp rom I've used.

Alright, installed it and LOVE it compared to the stock one included w/CM7. My only problem is that the effects list is missing the only one I would ever use and that's an HDR setting. Other than that I just need to figure out what all these settings mean. Burst? Shutter? Anti-Shake? Where's the user manual?

Thanks for the link but that thread pretty much only talks about how to focus a photo and how to focus on something that isn't centered. Not much discussion about anything else or any of the other settings.

Thanks for the information. I think I'm going to use the MIUI camera for the time being so no need to modify any files for the time being.
Well this is what I use on CM7 and this is the "FREE" version but they also have a paid version its better than the others i think. It starts with a grid but you can take it off in settings.
Same issue here as the newer's have the pano effect, etc. and are sweet.
As an alt to the miui one, you should checkout camera 360 also. Used to be a paid app, now free and has a lot of nice features ....

It's free now?!? I used that when it first came out years ago and loved it but the devs did some crazy crap (GREATLY reduced resolution of your photos and a few other things that I personally think is wrong) to the free version to get people to pay for it and so I abandoned it because I don't like those tactics. If it's completely free now then I'm all over that!

Is there any way for the MIUI camera to use the volume rocker as the shutter button? That's the only thing from the stock camera that I miss.

Bah! I hadn't yet noticed that. That was a great feature with the stock camera app and I hadn't yet tried the volume rockers. My single biggest gripe with this phone is a lack of physical camera button. PITA when you're trying to take a picture and you can't quite see the screen because of the angle.
I was going to post this in the Droid Kang ROM thread, but I don't have enough posts to post in the developers forum.
I finally jumped ship from stock and ended up on the Droid Kang ROM. I'm liking it quite a lot, but two issues with the camera that I didn't have before:
- Is there any way to make the volume keys take a picture?
- Face detection isn't enabled anymore (which links to focus and exposure)
Is there an option somewhere that I'm missing? Or a camera apk update that I could do?
Thanks in advance!
bump...any thoughts?
Your best option would be to use a different camera app like Camera FV-5.. ProCapture...

I've bought a ton of camera apps but never found anything I liked more than the stock camera. Most of them seemed too clunky and not actually improve the photo taking experience or quality. I'll check these out, thanks!

Hi everyone,
(sorry I can't post yet in the development threads as I'm a new member!).
I really like the Dr Oweida HTC One E8 ROM, (and the E8 itself is awesome), but the HTC's camera app is stuck taking photos at 4mp, possibly due to the M8 firmware it's based on. The E8 has a 13mp sensor. Is there any way I can use the full image resolution without a 3rd party app?

I didn't notice this problem until reading your post. I have had the volume problem (couldn't change volume) but a reinstall fixed that and I have the alarm issue.
I really appreciate Dr Oweida's work but maybe these problems will be difficult to fix? Are there no better roms available yet?
Thanks

PS Can't post in dev forum either!

Hi,
I had the same problem. I resolved it by installing the Google Camera, which gave me all resolutions...
Good luck!

Hi guys,
I don't know if somebody had already created such thread, but I want to ask you if anybody know any app which allows me to use manual focusing, expositure, shutter speed and/or/will support RAW format. I know, lumia 1020 has such camera app, but I didn't find ported version
I have AOSP ROM, so I am unable to use LG G2's camera app, which allows me most of the things I've mentioned.
Look in the g2 forums, there is a flashable camera for aosp ROMs and works great on the g3.
In which thread it is or how its called?
EDIT I found the one you've mentioned. LG Stock Camera for AOSP ROMs
Could you post a link for reference? Thank you
perhaps this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2548974

If you're still looking for it, I'm using Mi2Raw Camera app for capturing RAW photos on my G2 with OptimusG3 ROM. It works great, you can also manually focus by tapping the screen or adjust the exposure. But the app itself still needs some work... I'm not sure if it's going to work on the G3, but you can try it as it works on G3-based ROMs.

Hi everybody. The camera is a big issue for everybody who use cm12. I checked already more than 10 cameta programs, but no one good solution. I tryed LG Camera for AOSP, its was done for LG G2, and that apk is working very good like stock apk. But on CM12 the apk not show setings, nothing at all, but in automatic mode that apk get the best pictures quality till yet. I hope somebody from developers will find solution for that big issue for all G3 ussers, because a lot of people buy that model because of good camera.

I have tried the app you had posted, but it seems like it does not work on LG G3, it showed me a message that "This app only works for LG G2, Xiaomi..." and some other phones.
I am now runing the AN HD ROM, because I had some troubles with the CM12 ROM - battery drain, heating up and my camera wasnt working at all (FC, camera freezed after taking pic with flash and the quality of the pics were really poor).
Thanks for the tips, tho.

sorry for being so late, here it is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540030
G3 doesnt support exposuretime and manual shutter.
Also manual focus is broken with l.
With l the camparameters returns exposuretime but its ignored when setting it to the cam.
That means for camera2 the g3 will stay as legacy device and will not have manual settings and dng support. We have to wait for the g4 to get full camera2 support. These are just my thoughts because i know that lg not cares about adding new features to old devices....

But it is software thing, not hardware.

Just want to ask, is it possible to shoot RAW on G3 with lolipoop? Have G3 support for camera API 2.0? Is it any change to find it out? Im using Mi2RAW but I will miss it on A5.0.
Try this (Open Camera) on CM 5.0
Very nice Camera n alot of setting good luck .
