Hi
Anyone struggling to root using "SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse" can still use the same app with new exploit "zergRush" (see in http://shortfuse.org/)
Using SuperOneClickv2.1.1 I could not root with the existing exploits "GingerBreak" or "psneuter" whereas the new exploit works.
Unzip the attached file and copy in to the "Exploits" folder under the folder "SuperOneClickv2.1.1-ShortFuse".
Now open the app and select "zergRush" instead leaving it to "Auto" under exploits (you can see this on the top right of "SuperOneClickv2.1.1" app.
Hope it helps.
Or download SuperOneClick 2.2

Somehow I tried 2.2 but it doesn't work (on windows 7 x64), so thank you for providing us this exploit file to run with 2.1.1.
SuperOneClick 2.2 uses ZergRush to exploit GB on LG Optimus 3D (see image attached)

[NEW GAPPS.ZIP & APK] New Android Market [2.2.6] for G1(Android 2.1&2.2)[16/12/2010]
EDIT: I've put the new gapps.zip to update all ur gapps . This has to work : ) Just flash this from the recovery . It'll overwrite your old gapps , giving you the latest of all the basic gapps (incl.the new Market )
You can then go to the new market and install the updated Gmail,Voice Search,Google Search,Maps,Youtube app etc.
New Android Market (version 2.2.6) features include:
1.Refund window changing to 15 minutes
2.New carousel with featured apps on main page
3.Widgets and Live Wallpapers categories added
4.Related content added to app page
5.Single page app viewing, all info in one place
6.Max size for apk files increased from 25 MB to 50 MB
Also the Downloads now get paused instead of getting cancelled if there is a network/data interruption
I am not making a flashable update since it might clash with the original Vending.apk . So here are the steps to remove the old market and install the new one.
1) Use adb to remove and install the new market.
a) adb remount
b)Backup your current Market by
adb pull /system/app/Vending.apk Vending.apk
c) adb shell rm /system/app/Vending.apk
Rename the apk you downloaded (MAKE SURE YOU DOWNLOAD THE RIGHT APK FOR ECLAIRS OR FROYO) to Market.apk and put the apk in the Android SDK/tools folder then
adb push Market.apk /system/app
OR
Simply use your favourite Root File Manager (Root Explorer ,SU explorer , Android Commander etc.) and go to /system/app and delete Vending.apk .
Then put the New Market apk in /system/app
Restart your phone and you're good to go

You cannot replace or manage Android phone system files through normal File managers like Astro,Linda etc.
Best way I recommend is to Use Android Commander and follow the steps for installing without adb commands.
http://androidcommander.com/
i installed thru recovery and works great
on my G1 with 6.1 2708 is great. install via adb
why I do not see the category widgets and live wallpaper?
Hey..
Pity, it doesn't work for me.
I did it with the Root Explorer. Installation suceeded but i get a "force close" error message, when i try to select a program from the list or to go to "my downloads".
Changing back to the old one without problems.

I used the qr code/barcode scanner in the following link and followed the on-screen instructions. Took it a few minutes but it worked and I have no errors.

Mytouch3g OTA 2.2.1 updated
Here is the link with the QR code, just use your favorite QR scanner and then open via url or open in browser. It should then start a download, after its done just follow the on screen directions to install (it back-up's the installed markets user data then deletes it and installs the new market. http : // androidspin . com / 2010 / 12 / 11 / new-android-market-update-unofficially-available-for-download/

Hello HellRazorGod. I have a G1. And I just got it rooted with Cyanogen 2.2 Froyo ROM. But then as you know, cyanogenMod doesn't come with google apps anymore. And then so I tried your android market maybe it will work. And before I downloaded yours, I found many market apk files from other source. But then it still wound't work. But when I tried yours. Still didn't work. I tried AndroidCommander. Adb and still with the same results. I open it, and it is just all white, and after about 5 seconds go back to desktop screen. I tried every possible way. And tried all your steps. Even with the AndroidCommander. Can you help me out? I have a Android 2.2 Froyo Cyanogen 6.1.0 DS ROM. Would really appreciate it.
fart23 did you download the gapps .zip file and then flash it after you flashed your rom. if not then you need to go check out cyanogens wiki how to root/install cyanogen rom.
Hello i have made an official update to android 1.6 from Rogers rom V10Q .
Everything runs smoothly but my problem is that i cant set root permissions or flash it to an other rom.
Because there is no Fastboot mode in this version and also at the hiden menu there is no "Enable Root Permission" option, so i cant flash it in any used methods.
I tryied becoming root with Z4Root and AndRoot but no success.
Does anyone know how to root and/or flash this version?
Thank you.
You need to downgrade to an older firmware - one that still has Fastboot enabled. Once you've done that, I'd suggest using the OpenEtna firmware instead of the official firmware. OpenEtna is based on Cyanogen's Android 2.2, so it is much better than the official firmware.
Check the official OpenEtna site and forums for more info/help.
http://code.google.com/p/openetna/
http://forum.openetna.com/index.php
Thanks for your reply.
My problem was that i could not downgrade it to any previous version.
The Lg utils was crashing always and i think that it was because i was not root according to this thread lg-phones.org/how-to-flash-lg-eve-etna-gw620.html[/url] which steps i was following each previous time i had flashed from an official cab file with success.
I had also tryied some automated flashing utilities but none of them worked.
I have finally made it with the above way,but i had to shut down the phone and start the flashing procedure while it was still booting.
I dont know why but only this method worked.
I have the same problem, I couldn't make a nandroid backup before udate to V10Q, which is the official release from LG. The "root enable" in the hidden menu by dialing 3845#*620#. It's not there.
I have used link to make a nandroid but with no root there is no nandroid .
I tried to find V10F which is the original 1.5 rom, I suppose this rom has fastboot, but I don't know.
Regards,
Mauricio
I have succesfuly rooted V10Q with this tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 but you have to replace the "su" file located in the downloaded folder with the one included in this link from system/bin folder http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6499147&postcount=1 (the "cd" version).

ya right i dont believe you guys cause ive been trying the exact same thing and it does nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just successfully rooted after doing the LG upgrade to 1.6.
You need to use the superoneclickv1.5.5 not the most recent version.
Then take the superuser.apk and su files as per the instructions from the previous poster making sure you get the donut.cupcake version and put them into the directory where you installed s1c replacing the files that were previously installed.
There is no need to go into the hidden menus and enable root access as it is default in the 1.6 firmware. (and no longer an option)
Hi, folks.
Newbie here.
Just purchased a new Coby Kyros MID7015. Trying to root device. Instructions here call for downloading Z4root; okay. I copied that file to the root directory of my 8GB microSD card; okay.
Instructions then refer to invoking the app installer to install Z4root...but I have no app installer (that I know of) or any kind of file manager on my device.
Is the device supposed to come with one?
Thanks for any help...
Check out this thread to root it and install the market: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870568
Hi, Fido.
Thanks so much for replying.
It was in the information in the link you provided that prompted my question. In the instructions, it says:
"2: Rooting Your Tablet. Download z4root 1.3.0 APK and place on your sdcard. Open Settings, go to Applications and check the Unknown Sources box. Use File Manager to navigate to the z4root APK (it's in the /sdcard folder) and click to run. You should now have root access (you may need to reboot). You will also notice a new app, Superuser, has been installed."
Note where it says "...use File Manager..." -- and that's where my issue is. I have no File Manager on my tablet...so I can't navigate to the z4root.apk to install it.
Where does the File Manager come from? Is it supposed to be part of the sdcard:update.zip? When I did the sdcard:update.zip (which the device said that I did "successfully"), there was no File Manager created on my device. I don't have one (that I know of) on my device...and I have gone through all the apps repeatedly. Is it buried in a menu somewhere?
Thanks...
If you havnt figured out already ....a "file manager" is an app you must download.....

I dont use Terminal Emulator and so have modified the batch file so as it does not install it. (See attached file). To use this modded batch file, simply replace the batch file from the download in the above thread and run as instructed.
Also, I have superuser elite and wanted to use the latest beta version. The lates beta version can be downloaded after finding it with a gogle search (if you have superuser elite and are entitled to it) and the SU file and superuser.apk files can also be replaced.
These will be updated when the Batch file is run again. If terminal emulator is already installed, it can be deleted and wont be installed again.
Cheers
I don't really see the point in this. You deleted one line from a script. This is just clutter. Honestly if other people don't know how to delete one line from a text file, they shouldn't be doing anything root-related in the first place.

I agree that it is only a single line, but not everyone is as competent as you and I provided additional information about super user. I did this because I thought it may be of help to some people. If its clutter, I apologise...but it helped one person and so I'm happy

Good for you then! That's the spirit, though perhaps not understood by some.
Well then how about a bat file howto guide? That would be pretty cool.
Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G using XDA App
A HOW TO guide would be outstanding, but would require more than you think. You have to consider WHERE people have stored files such as adb.exe.
Editing the BAT is simple enough...Just download it, right click, then choose edit. Remove what you need and then run. This assumes that you got the thing to work as it originally had been intended to though.
Matt
sorry for posting new thread but I don't know where to ask...can anybody please tell me tge new update 4.5.269 and someting3..is it the new version of gingerbread,is it safe to update..please tell me...
The new update is 4.5.629. It goes from Gingerbread 2.3.3 to Gingerbread 2.3.4, so a slight update. There are a few bug fixes, but it has a number of undesirable things.
1) 4.5.629 is currently not rootable
2) You cannot simply return to an earlier version via SBF.
You can overcome the first by using Voodoo Rootkeeper or similar to root on your current version, back up root with Rootkeeper and then update.
Recently, a method was found for this release to unbrick phones damaged by attempts to SBF or from bad ROMs: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/23207-how-to-sbf-unbricking-root-d2g-629 This also allows users who did upgrade to 4.5.629 to return to the previous version, root there and then upgrade again.
So it is sort of safe, but not ideal. The changelog is here, decide if the bug fixes are important enough for the added inconvenience

ok...thank u very much +1..I prefer not to update for now,and by mistake ,i select yes button in the update prompt, and its in the pull down bar, stucked and is ready to start downloading as soon as I connect to wi-fi,how will I cancel the download
You can block the update by renaming these files (e.g., append ".bak" to each filename):
/system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.apk
/system/app/BlurUpdater_VZW.odex
Since these are in /system, renaming them requires root privileges and a root-enabled file manager (such as Root Browser Lite, available in the Google Play store).
ok..thanks,will do that, but after doing that, will I be able ro manually update it,or all the updates have been blocked???
Renaming those files will disable the OTA update client completely. You can still manually install an update by rebooting into recovery, but you will first have to download the update file from another source, rename it to "update.zip", and place it in the root level of your SD card.
Of course, you can also change those files back to their original names to re-enable OTA updates at any time.

Root Explorer has a button for that.
“adb remount” when connected to a PC with USB debugging enabled will do that as well.
It's also possible to do from the terminal emulator, however I don't remember the exact command.
i can't find that button,by long pressing the file/folder or what?
It looks like this app defaults to RW once it gets superuser permission (GY was referring to Root Explorer, a different app). How about copying a system file, does that work?
