Install the android SDK, then add the Real3D SDK to get a virtual Optimus 3D using red/blue glasses:
http://developer.lgmobile.com/lge.mdn.nne.RetrieveNNEDetail.dev?newsId=NNE00000134
Trying to dump the ROM, but the instructions I found are MTD based. Any idea how to do it?
@erezak: I have the Optimus 3D as well with permroot, do u by chance get some lock ups and freezing? Couple times I had to remove the battery. Hopefully when the phone is actually released they send a fix. Other than that I love this phone!
I used to have a few with the older ROM, but the new one is freeze-free (well, almost).
What rom u have? Is it the May 03 version? When i try to search for software updates it says authentication error.

Would not be a bad idea to keep a track on the rom development and version numbers with the release days away.................
Thats a good idea. My version is Lg920-V08j-May-03-2011. I get a Quadrant benchmark of 2310 average, which is ok. My bros stock SGSII gets 3700. So im hoping its due to that the SGSII rubs gingerbread and Optimus is on Froyo and the software is not final.

I get the same error.
according to the file "TICameraCameraProperties.xml" in /etc the camera can shoot RAW in a bunch of resolutions...
"<prop-picture-size-values>2592x1944,2048x1536,1600x1200,1280x960,720x480,640x480,320x240</prop-picture-size-values>
<prop-picture-format-values>jpeg,yuv422i-yuyv,yuv420sp,rgb565,raw</prop-picture-format-values>"
that's a pretty big deal.
EDIT; seems that there is more information on the camera capaboilites in that xml than i initially gathered. it outlines the specs for the solo main camera, then the front facing camera and then the dual camera (for 3d). the things it can do get more and more interesting as you go. for example, the dual camera can shoot raw+jpg. whether tat means two raw images (one per lens) and then two duplicate jpgs from those raws or one lens spits out a raw and the other a jpg or not is anyones guess.
is there a way to update my optimus 3D? its a prototype phone and whenever i update it on LG mobile support tool, it says The phone does not support software upgrade?
its on 2.2.2 now. (LGP920-V08i-APR25-2011)

Very very cool information! I was hoping that there would be some potential for future camera modifications, and it seems as if this might just be the case!
Hi..
I just got an LG G2X with GB 2.3.3 update installed stock.
1. I've noticed the 1080p/24fps option is missing on the video camera settings.
2. The touch focus is not working either. It's supposed to focus while recording video and you touch the screen.
I bought the phone because of these features, so Im very disappointed they are not included. Any ideas.
All those features were present with Froyo. So what you really want is the LG camera app. After the Gingerbread update it was replaced by the Google camera app.
But you can flash your phone with Weapon G2X 2.5 which has the LG camera app included.

Why would LG do that? I mean, why put a rom which disables the features that give value to the phone such as 1080p video?....Not only that, like I mentioned before, I bought the phone for the features and now what?..
That means that a person that doesn't know how to flash a different ROM is screwed...so they end up returning the phone...this is really bad business... If LG needed to flash a new ROM to fix all bugs, they shouldve given us a complete ROM which would have all the features the phone has.
i dont want to go install the old rom due to all the bugs it has. So, in other words.. this phone is most likely going back.

I know, I would be dissapointed as well.
What you can do is either what the previous poster said or you could flash a Froyo ROM which would have all the features that you bought this phone for.
If you need help PM me and I could help you flashing your phone and doing all those good things

Well.. I know how to flash roms.. I just need to know where I can find them and which ones have the least bugs..I would appreciate it if you can tell me where to find them.
I just dont want to flash an old rom which is the reason LG had to update the G2X due to all the bugs froyo has.
..thanks.

I felt the same way you do after i did the Gingerbread update.
But here's the link to the ROM you'd be interested to: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1207125

Match it with this Kernel and you have a pretty nice handset:

Thanks dude... do you know anything about recording 1080p/30 fps on the g2x... someone told me that somewhere in xda there is something about it?
And how come you have 2.3.5 CM7 nightly..is that better?
With the Gingerbread google camera it already allows you to record in 1080p HD 30/fps its just not showed as 1080p.
I like the CM7 2.3.5 only because i think it's a more stable ROM..but you won't be able to flash the LG camera app. For some reason the LG Camera app is not compatible with 2.3.5 or CM7 base ROMs.
But i'm actually now running Eaglesblood 2.3.5 which is a CM7 base...so i have the best of both worlds.

what about touch focus?... does it work with your rom.. like.. when you're recording and you touch the screen does it focus on a close object?
also...
what about Netflix..does it work properly for you.. It plays for me but fast speed.
And there are some really cool themes for the weapon rom in the themes section, or follow my sig.

Hi everybody!
I've updated my Optimus 3D with official V21 (European Open), and, yes, it's good... But where are:
--- Google Talk is WITHOUT videocall!! Where is the Videocall...
--- Skype videocall WORKS native but... Only shows a black box without image when making calls.
--- Google Music APP is not compatible yet... I've downloaded it and works OK.
--- The 2.3.5 look?? I see only the LG 2.2.2 Look, i want the L&F of all 2.3.5 Android phones...

is there any reason to get the official update instead of a cooked rom with the one leaked last week ??
Lol guys if it were about optical changes google wouldn't release new firmware versions but it would release new launchers everytime.... All in all sgs2 looks the same after each update so does xperia arc and htc phones and pretty much every single android phone and you know why? cause companies use the same alunchers for their phones. sony and samsung won't change their launchers for each new release. Do you think that htc releases a new sense version for each update? Firmware update has to do with making your phone more functional, faster, allowing it to make better use of its resources etc. If you want a new look just download go launcher x and find am eclair version somewhere to install. You won't be able to put apps to sd on eclair but hey... it will look different with the new launcher....
difference? photo quality is better, can use 3d button to make shots now
overall speed is bettre, bug with flash player 11 corrected, better connectivity, better battery life, better 3d/2d converter and now can watch 3d in 2d witout having split image etc ...

If you are talking about having the LG Cam from Froyo and the Gingerbread Cam software, you can not have both at the same time. You would have to flash between them when you wanted to use the other.

I just tried this mod of a camera and I can confirm that it works on CM7 (CM7.2.0-RC1) for the G2x.
I'm sorry for reposting a thread that has probably been made but I haven't seen anywhere else that this has been posted.
The Single post has been pulled from the Optimus 2x forums.

It's a LG Camera for CM7 (thanks to Stefan and francarl) with bitrate/fps/mp4 modifications.
Bitrate and fps values are taken from v1 of AndiCP's Mod, and should be:
Video quality 1080p:
Set FPS from 24 to 30 (varies a little, similar to stock LG app)
Set normal video quality from 5Mbps to 7Mbps (= fine in stock LG app)
Set fine video quality from 7Mbps to 12Mbps
Set superfine video quality from 9Mbps to 17Mbps
Video quality 720p:
Set normal video quality from 2Mbps to 4Mbps (= superfine in stock LG app)
Set fine video quality from 3Mbps to 9Mbps
Set superfine video quality from 4Mbps to 14Mbps

Yeah, I'm encountering that bug too, I'm assuming it's because the mod uses higher quality rendering than the stock Froyo one from LG. The container is also set to mp4 instead of 3gp. see the original post up above.
It's been said to leave the program alone when you stop video recording for a few seconds. It should go back to normal. I don't have any problems with freezing.
Try turning off auto review and see if it works.

Yes, thanks. You never know what will work. My FFC appears to be working OK. with the file from the OP's post. Not sure what I would get to use the one from January.... an option should this one hang again.
I am coming back from ICS as I have needed a working camera recently. Waiting for some additional work on the new 2.3.4 release to see if the BB exclusivity issue can be cracked. If you are foolishly optimistic, that one day release was a dry run for the G2x ICS update

What exactly did you do to get it to work? I might update my girlfriend's phone to stock 2.3.4 and wanted to know what you did to get the camera to work on that rom
All I did was:
Update the phone to 2.3.4.
Reinstall CWM.
Downloaded owain94's version of the LG Camera from the link I posted.
Made a copy of the 2.3.4 libcamera.so under /system/lib.
Install lg camera's zip from CWM.
Put back the 2.3.4 libcamera.so into /system/lib
Do not touch the auto review after you put back the 2.3.4 libcamera.so, otherwise you'll have to do it again. It won't record video and will FC.
Everything works fine for on Hellfire 2.1 GB....EXCEPT ..zoom while vid recording.
Any fixes for that?
