[Q] Qualities of the CBIL keyboard dock - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm considering the Transformer 3G for my next tablet purchase. The keyboard dock seems like it would be a great addition as well. However, one thing I've noticed is that there is a CBIL keyboard dock that is supposed to simplify making accented characters. Since I sometimes need access to those characters for Portuguese, I was wondering if a CBIL keyboard would be a good idea. I have looked online for images of this CBIL dock and all the images are of the normal one. My question is: how does the CBIL dock simplify accented characters and if anyone could post an image of the dock? Also, I've seen posted that changing a keyboard layout for the dock does not tweak the on screen keyboard as well. Would someone kindly clarify if the CBIL keyboard is necessary for accents or is there a way to at least use a International 101-key keyboard IME or some such along with the keyboard dock to allow for accented characters in much the same way that a laptop allows this.

ICS: Dock Keyboard input language is always English

Hi,
After I have installed ICS, I cannot use any other input language with the hardware keyboard. It is always English. No matter what keyboard I select: Android (Russian), Smart Keyboard or whatever I have english letters appear on key presses. On Honeycomb I had ASUS Keyboard which allowed to switch language using Ctrl-Space combination. Now I don't have the ASUS keyboard anymore. Have anyone been successful in typing non-English on the dock keyboard?

I have already made a quick hack keyboard to produce russian characters on dock keyboard key presses and switch to english using Ctrl-Space. It should be pretty straight forward to add other european languages if some one would like me to. Chinese, Japanese and Korean is tough and I have no plans to support them.
If anyone is interested, here is the hacked by me standard ICS android keyboard, which allows to type both russian and english on Transformer's dock keyboard. Left_Ctrl+Space changes layout. All other features should work correctly - soft keyboard, voice input...

[Q] Asus Keyboard alternative for people with non-US docks

I'm Spanish, and so is my keyboard dock. However, I often type in English with it. Under HC, it wasn't an issue, I used Asus Keyboard in Spanish, and since word suggestion was disabled while using the keyboard, I lost no functionality. This is important because I need to set the Input Method to Asus Keyboard (Spanish) to get the right key layout for my dock keyboard (It mostly changes where some symbols are, such as the @ symbol, and punctuation, on top of adding dead keys for accented letters)
Come ICS, and everything works exactly the same. However, now ICS includes auto-spellcheck independent of the word suggestions, and uses the language of the keyboard to identify the language of what you typed. This means that while I'm typing, and getting the right keyboard layout via the Asus Keyboard (Spanish), every word gets a wiggly red line underneath (and performance suffers a little). When I change to Asus Keyboard (English), I can use auto-spellcheck, BUT it's cumbersome to type (mainly punctuation and symbols).
If there a way to tell the tablet that it should use the Spanish keyboard layout while using another language for spellcheck? Is there any free or paid Input Method app to help me here? I'm not rooted, but feel free to suggest some root only apps and solutions if it's what it takes.

Same problem here. The only custom ROM which works well with my PT dock is Revolver 4

[Q] Dock Keyboard with different languages

Hi community
I'm actually German and currently here in the U.S.
I really can't wait to buy the Infinity here ASAP, but I still have some questions left...
Most of you guys know, that the German QWERTZ keyboard (and special letters ö,ä,ü etc.) differs from other QWERTY keyboards, so the whole layout is different.
Now my question is:
- can you select a dock language/layout anywhere? so you can use different keyboard layouts?
This way, I could buy an U.S. dock and just switch to another language and use "German" letters, although it's written otherwise on the keyboard
OR: (preferred way)
- is it possible to use a German dock keyboard with the U.S. version of the Infinity (including special letters like ö,ä,ü?? )
Maybe some of you guys, who already have a dock could try this...
If you could switch from a German layout (people from switzerland, who already have the infinity) to a U.S. layout, I assume, you could also do it vice versa.
Thank you in advance!
This would, I will imagine, also be affected by the keyboard app, like Swiftkey, in which you can select multiple languages and layouts.

I know with absolute certainty that SwiftKey 3 has an extra setting for "external keyboard layout" which allows you to define which layout the keydock has - independently from the on-screen-keyboard. Plus i can really recommend SwiftKey.
I don't know about the second option of yours, but that's what i will try (the other way round, living in Germany and disliking QWERTZ).
Does Swiftkey actually support external keyboards? Wow, you learn something in here every day.
I've used it for a long period on my SGS2 (soft keyboard, obviously), but autocorrection while using the dock keyboard would be absolutely fantastic!
you may want to look at their tablet version.

Keyboard Dock layout problem in conjunction with software keyboard

Hello,
I have a german keyboard dock and I use SwiftKey 3 Tablet, because I like the split keyboard layout and word prediction is good.
The problem is that the special keys on the keyboard dock like <>\/{} etc. are at the position of the US keyboards layout.
SwiftKey fortunately has an option for the hardware keyboard layout, but unfortunately changing to german still does not fit all special characters.
When I plug the tablet into the dock, this message pops up:
"Change to ASUS keyboard to keep consistency with hardware keyboard."
Do you now how to fix this without rooting? And if rooting is necessary, are there fixes?
Greetings from Germany

Keyboard app with auto-correct for dock typing

Hi all,
I'm typing this on my infinity with keyboard dock, and have to rely on my own typing accuracy and language grasp to avoid mistakes. As far as I'm aware, there is no auto-correct while typing on the hardware keyboard in both Asus stock keyboard (which used to have auto-correct while docked) and the stock 4.2 keyboard.
May I then ask anyone who knows of any way to enable auto-correct while tablet is docked, or knows of any keyboard with this function to share? It would benefit this inaccurate typer much. Many thanks in advance for continuing to keep this community great and helpful for all.

I have looked around for a long time, and have tried several apps that (purportedly) supported the keyboard dock in auto-correct mode. Alas. One did actually work sometimes, but more often than not changed my typo to something even more bothersome, or socially unacceptable.
I'm wondering why the stock Asus keyboard lost this functionality, I believe it used to be present in ICS. I think swiftkey autocorrect also used to work with the dock pre-jb. Would be nice if there was a keyboard that still supported auto-correct, the hardware keyboard, though best in class, is still rather cramped at times.
