[Q] How do I update CM7? - Samsung Infuse 4G

Hey, sorry if this is a noob question, but I installed the Infuse CM7 ROM on my phone a few days ago. Now that there is an update out, how am I supposed to update my ROM without losing my data?

Just download the update and boot into cwm and flash...you don't have to wipe anything just flash over the current cm7 your running

Just make sure you have ClockworkMod Recovery installed... and be sure to wipe everything before you install... Also, fix permissions after it's installed.
Ok so I don't need to upgrade to stilick gingerbread? And I'm sorry but what do you mean by permissions? Thanks alot

No, not unless you want the new baseband because I've yet to see a easy to apply it without the update. Could be wrong. And that's for you to decide, but the the baseband improved signal and gps response on my phone.

Software Question

So I have 2.2.1 and I was wondering is it possible just to update it to 2.3.2 without downloading a rom or rooting it? I like it the way it is. And is there also a way to recover the Inception file??

LG and almost every other phone manufacturer or service provide don't send out rooted updates. So yes, your phone is no longer rooted.

Superoneclick doesn't work on Gingerbread, I believe. Try flashing a custom recovery from NVFlash.

Is it possible for LG to know if the phone was rooted?

I've been doing a little bit of reading, and I keep seeing that the G2x Gingerbread 2.3.3 can't be rooted yet? Is this true?

No that's false. Nvflash clockwork and flash the root zip. It will root gingerbread

Use NVflash to flash cwm then install weapon. ROM Manager is useless on the g2x

Rom Question

I am a noob so yeah....
I have bwen rooted for a little while and had A question on roms.
When we get the fixed gb update and I update while I have a rom will it take me back to stock or will I have to flash stock to update?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Any new ROM, unless its an update specific to your ROM made by your ROM maker, it is nearly always recommended to clean flash it (need not go to stock).
Just wait til the update is implemented in the ROM. Done.

Thanks for the quick reply man.
Yea i do not want to unroot. I rooted it to get rid of the bloatware. Is there a root for the update? Im guessing its ICS so is there a ICS root?
Look through dev section
It's pretty easy to root ics
