I posted this in the eaglesblood forum, thought it would he more appropriate here: I know this is a total newb question, but I'd really appreciate an answer. When everyone is talking about this rom as externally mounted, does that mean that the system is actually running off of the external sd card? I tried out Weapon G2x... love how incredibly snappy it is, and I'm wondering if it's because of it being internally mounted. Anyways I want to come back to Eaglesblood just because I can't even really use the gps on weapon, never locks.... my SD card is class 4 so take that into account
Thanks in advance for any help

Gps is not sd card related.

That's not at all what I'm asking. I was just noting why I want to switch back to eaglesblood. I really am wondering about whether it runs the system externally or if it just stores data there. That way I know if its just my slower SD card that creates the less snappy experience on eagles.

Both eagleablood and weapons or pretty much any rom for the G2x are system roms meaning their files and data is in the phones system partition. Although a rom can run from a SD card it hasn't been available for the G2x yet. The purpose of stating if it is being internally or externaly mounted is to describe which memory is mounted (for music, movies, and such) primarily as in which will be used to store camera shots and downloads, even if some apps allow for editing the location of data. You can still load music on the external and the media will be played it just will be linked by a folder usually called EXTERNAL_SD

I was looking at the phones memory and saw there was an internal sd which said 13g then theres external which i havent put in ten theres phone storage which shows i think about 1g. How can i use the internal 13g also says i can unmount it for safe removel. I dont see anything i can remove. Thanks for any info about this.

The internal SD card is not removable. You can store data on it like your photos and videos or documents, but very few apps will install to it. Until we get Froyo there's no way to move apps to SD cards
It's referring to "ejecting" it from your computer before you stop usb connectivity on your phone.

Thanks for the fast replys. I read somewhere that were getting the 2.2 update. Just dont know when. Thanks again

I've got 2.2
Get the Phoenix Rising ROM.
I've never messed around with flashing ROMs or anything, but Samsung isn't going to release 2.2 any time soon, so I figured it out, and I'm glad I did.
Sorry if that doesn't make any sense, I've been at work all night.

i know that you can dictate where you want things saved (SD vs. phone memory) if you are rooted.
but if i'm using stock, where do apps get saved to? what about pics/videos, etc?
how does android determine what gets saved to what?
Apps automatically save to the phone's.memory but some can be moved to your SD card. Pictures and videos etc. get saved to the SD.

Not in my experience
All of my Angry Birds and a few others defaulted to install on my SD card
As well as other apps
I have no explanation

That's odd. Maybe it's a thunderbolt thing

So, I've been running Serendipity 7 on my Infuse for maybe 3 days until I went back to stock firmware, but it seems everytime I try to put all my music onto my external SD, it deletes it all and saves 3-4 bands with scattered songs from the album. I had this same problem with my Captivate, but it would put the files into LOST.dir instead of just deleting them. I've looked around on Google since I started having problems back in June/July and couldn't find anything.
Right now, my Infuse is running stock Froyo and rooted. I haven't really done much else. The SD is a Sandisk 32gb.
To add a bit more, when all 19gb of music is on the SD card, I safely remove it and then plug it in just to make sure it's still on there. The music doesn't delete till it's plugged into the phone. I've tried using the SD card slot on my computer and USB through my phone and it always deletes either after I disconnect from the computer or when I plug the SD into my phone.

Do you have any .nomedia files on your phone? I don't think the media scanner is the issue here, but it's always a possibility. Did you try storing the music on your phone's internal memory instead of the SD card? Maybe the card is going bad?
I haven't put any .nomedia files on my phone. As for the SD card, it is brand new. I can put the media ob my internal, but when I move it to the external it deletes itself.

Now it's deleting apps that are installed on the external SD...

It's most likely a faulty external sim card.
I should stop buying from eBay. I've only gotten one good SD card from them. This I've was still in GE case too. It's like it will only allow 1-2 gigs of the 32 before it deletes the files.

Search e-bay for this problem. They are also selling cards that are fomatted to show more space then what they have.
I once bought an 32gig usb drive, it would look like everything that I copied was there, but would only play the first 4gig.
These mostly come from china. Like I said, do a search and you'll never buy memory off e-bay again.
Very good point, I completely forgot about that. Thank you so much.

Now there are a bunch of no extension files in my LOST.dir. They just now showed up. Damned Chinese products.

I make it a rule to never buy electronics off eBay. Local craigslist only for me. That being said, it definitely sounds like a borked SD card.

Yo, easy as pie to fix this. if your SD card is in deed broken. Wally World (walmart) is your solution, go buy a San Disk 32 GB like yours then switch out the cards and return the faulty one. Thank you.
I'm telling ...
But to show my age, back in the early 80’s, when we were hacking drives to copy 5 1/4 discs, we'd burn out drives in a few weeks. So we'd buy a new one and swap out the internal components.
Cranky...

App does not work since ICS release. Apps must run off internal. There are workarounds but more hassle than they are worth.
Not sure why someone would even need this feature in this day and age. It was only invented to deal with shortage of space before cell phones caught up with the times.

So yes, as the title suggests, I want to move my default app install location to my MicroSD card. I've seen lots of tutorials on how to move the default install place to the internal SD card, but nothing has said how to move them to the MicroSD. Thanks for your help in advance!

Are you sure you saw tutorials showing how to get info on the "internal" sd card? They normally go there. You sure it wasn't "external", that's the same as the micro sd card.

Actual you can. One way is to go to manage apps then select an app. There you will see a move to sdcard option. The easiest way by far though is to use this handy little app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidsail.dsapp2sd&hl=en
You can also use it to set the SDcard as the default save location. Some apps won't play nice if installed to SD though. Meaning they take forever to load and there widgets won't work. Why you would need to do this with a phone that has 2gigs of storage is sorta beyond me. The OP must have a metric crap ton of apps. lol

It is indeed moving them to the internal SD. Nice catch. I honestly never bothered to look at it. Just assumed SD was the external. Well you know what they say about assuming. Thanks for the catch.

The best help I can manage is a suggestion to avoid this. There is a good reason it wasn't implemented, more than one. Unless you like your apps to dramatically slow down loading times and disappear on boot, that is.

Yes, I did a bit further research and found a way, but it required making your phone think that the external SD was your internal SD, and I just thought that might be too much. Now that you say that it makes it slower, I'm going to abandon the project entirely. I have enough space on my internal SD to store my apps, and I can live with only storing media on my external. Thanks everyone!

I don't so much have a metric ton of apps, rather a metric ton of spare kernels, nandroids, and rom updates.
