[Q] AT&T ICS Phones? - General Topics

Has anyone read or heard if AT&T will have any ICS phones before the holidays?

At the rate their cannibalizing their own phones (Infuse->GS2->GS2 Skyrocket) I wouldn't be surprised
On a more serious note, their is a rumor that AT&T will be getting a beast of an ICS phone soon (in terms of specs) and this comes directly from @black_man_x, who had the Galaxy Nexus LTE weeks before launch. I would have hope if I was on AT&T, though it won't be stock ICS like the Nexus, if you care about that.

The G2 is a pretty good option, or even the MyTouch 4G. Research before you ask questions
Right now T-mobile doesn't have a HTC Android phone. The G2 is going to be the best bet for you but it is not going to have the hot spot or wifi "n". I would wait because Samsung is supposed to be releasing there "flagship" phone on Tmo and it is rumored to have all of you listed requirements.
i suggest waitiing till febuary, when alll the dual core android power house phones are realesed... they will be twice as fast as your iPhone! in tthe mean time just hold on to your device, or if oh are really desparate, the Desire HD is a good iPhone alternative.
very cool info...thanks for all info provided...i have no problem waiting to see what comes out next month...

Uhh...The G2 is made by HTC. And so is the MyTouch 4G...Also the original MyTouch 3G (not suggested) and the G1 (stopped selling, not suggested).
How much $$ have you got to spend? You should check out Desire HD, it spanks iPhones ass.
You could also wait for a bit if you want to get a dual core phone.

Don't go with Samsung. They're all about getting the hottest hardware, but they never deliver updates. Look at all of the US Galaxy S models (Vibrant, Captivate, Epic, Fascinate, Mesmerize). Not one of them is officially on 2.2 even though first they promised it in October, then November, then end of year. And when they released it for the Canadian Vibrant (which is basically the i9000), they fried the internal memory. And then they went and released 2.2 for the Intercept on Sprint (not even the Epic!) and that bricked most of them.
You want to go with HTC or any other brand, but not Samsung if you want quick updates, or any updates at all.
You want proof Samsung sucks even more? They're releasing the "Vibrant 4G" on T-Mobile, which is the same Vibrant, but with HSPA+ (4G), Android 2.2, and the Front-Facing camera that they yanked out originally.

Samsung + Rooting = not having to wait for samsung to update and you get great hardware!

[Q] Android recommendations for ATT

I personally think the HTC Inspire 4G is the best Android device out there on the ATT network, but was curious what the consensus is (if there is one). My son is interested in getting an Android soon and wants to know what the current top model is on ATT. Slightly related, are there any new models coming down the pike for ATT that might be worth waiting for?
Imspire is your best bet. My buddy tried the atrix and ended up with the inspire. Like i told him in the first place.
sent from my ADR6300, with the power of bananananas
The problem with the Inspire is that it is year behind. I bought one and ended up giving it to my son. It's not 4G. It's very slow browsing even slower than my Samsung Galaxy S. Also, it has no 2100 MHz band for Europe (if you travel there) and no front facing camera.
I'd wait for something better. I'm waiting for the Infuse which is due out any time.

according to this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snapdragon_(system_on_chip)
its the same processor in both. the international Raider is clocked at the same speed and the AT&T variant (Vivid) is slightly Underclocked from the factory. but they are both capable of the same speeds.
You don't even say why you want to return it.
I've personally contemplated getting the Galaxy Nexus (unlocked), but I'm torn between the two.
The main GN selling points for me are the higher res display, notification light and NFC out of the box. On the other hand, it's got a crappy camera, no LTE (plus I'm hearing lousy signal and data speeds on AT&T).
What I love about the SR is obviously LTE and the camera, but on the other hand I hate the 800x480 res and sound quality of both ear speaker and loud speaker is sub-par. Plus, no notification light is killing me, reminds of my days with an iPhone. Why does Samsung omit this feature is beyond me.
If you can live w/ less internal memory, than the LG Nitro HD LTE might be good.
But the dev suport on the lg will be a gamble

The skyrocket is a really good device, you might as well keep it. Your other option on ATT is the vivid which I have and is a great device. But don't worry, with this CarrierIQ thing going on right now (which seems to be ATT only and not Google, Samsung or HTC) you ptobably should be able to opt out the contract at any time since you didn't sign up for that crap...

Ciq isnt just att.....the samsung epic is the first phone i believe to be discoverd with it thats sprint, and that was discoverd almost a year ago. But i am suprised no one has tried to see if they could get out of there contract yet due to it... i believe it was k0nane who discoverd it on the epic
Then it looks like the SR is the best choice for the next 6 months or so. Honestly, I haven't even looked at new phones that were coming out for AT&T. The LG phone doesn't look appealing as there is only 4gb on board which is crazy for a smartphone these days.
Thanks for the info!!

This is my concern. The only two gripes I have about my skyrocket are the screen lines and the poor audio...The LG Nitro screen quality may be better resolution, but it is still LCD. I doubt audio is any better than what it was on the thrill. On that note...the thrill has hod absolutely no developmental improvements since I left that device over a month ago.
I have no interest in the Vivid (heavy, washed out screen, bootloader issue) so the Nitro would be my only choice at the moment and I just don't see that happening...4gb internal memory and no development....the SR will prolly be the better choice to tide me over until mid '12
We have another upgrade available next week so we may pick up a nitro to compare side by side.

Where are you seeing this? None of the reviews I've read have mentioned that. One thing that may not be widely understood is that you need to have your account provisioned to get HSPA+ data speeds. The old wap.cingular.com gateway is apparently capped in terms of data speeds. You need the IMEI of a "4G" capable AT&T phone in order to get a 4G data plan and the right code added to your account - AT&T doesn't recognize the IMEI of the GN as 4G capable. My plan is to buy the SGS2 Skyrocket with my upgrade, activate it on the 4G unlimited data plan, then sell it and use the SIM in an unlocked GN once the 32GB HSPA+ GN is available.

I read it in multiple posts here on XDA under the GN section. My line was fine with HSPA+ since I had the Atrix, and they said I wouldn't need a new SIM for the Skyrocket...which I believe since I'm getting 45mbs here in DC.

[Q] ICS 4.0 for skyrocket

i have a samsung skyrocket i was debating on putting the os 4 on my phone. now if i decide to add the software to my device does it really void the warranty? Also has anyone had a negitive experiance with the leaked version?
ICS Leaked is not for our phone it is for the International version of the Samsung Galaxy S II (Not the LTE Skyrocket). Technically installing a custom rom will void your warranty although there are ways around this in the long run.
Our phone should be updated by March although with Samsung has completed the programing it would now be ether at Google for review or with your carrier to add their apps and testing. Once that is complete must go back to Google for review once more and back to the carrier for more testing.
I would personally wait as the ICS version from samsung will have all drivers and compatability for your phone which is a good thing.
That won't work on the SkyRocket it was leaked for s2 only
There are a few different S2 variants. As was mentioned, the version leaked is for the "standard" S2.
Our phone (which is known internationally as the Galaxy S II LTE, and is also very similar to the T-Mobile Galaxy S II), was announced to receive an ICS upgrade AFTER the standard Galaxy S II and Galaxy Note get them in Q1, so we might have to sit tight for a bit, could be a few months.
Once a ROM is released or leaked for any of the Snapdragon-based models, they'll probably be able to use that to form the basis for solid ICS roms on our phone as well.
I have a baseless theory that we might see it around the time the Skyrocket HD comes out, because there are always maintenance releases around new phones and it just makes good sense to have that ready.

[Q] Could the galaxy note/journal come to sprint?

I saw on the internet that the AT&T exclusive deal ended in April.
Could that mean that sprint can take in the note/journal? I really like the phablet (lol) concept that Samsung brought to the market
I know that the evo lte is coming but I do like how the note is setup
