If u want performance and really good battery life go with nscollab. If u want nightly updates go with cm7 if u want performance and eye candy go with miui. I bounce around nscollab and miui. Best roms in my opinion. I would also recommend tsm pool party. Great rom.?

As a user of all 3 roms, here are my thoughts.
Nightly flashes are cool because you get to see new updates , but there is a higher chance things will berak as they are not tested much.
NScollab is updated slowly, but it was really stable for me when i used it, so when i wanted to use my phone as a.. err, phone? I used NScollab.
Right now i am on MIUI Brainmasers edition, and it is perfect for me.
It gets weekly updates with a nice clean changelog (CM7 Changelog anyone? :O) and they are usually pretty stable.
The UI change is refreshing, nto to mention extra hidden features (prox support, map static ip address to network etc)
I bounce back and forth between MIUI weeklies and CM7 nightlies. Right now I'm on CM7.1 #228 with either matr1x or netarchy kernels. MIUI looks really nice, and is CM based, so I guess it's basically the same under the hood.
i've tried miui, both the official and brainmaster's mod (which is definitely the better of the two), both savage and deck's roms, pete's rom, cyanogen, and oxygen. . .
and i have to say i'm severely disappointed that i only recently found out about a little hidden gem called carbon. i say hidden because i check these forums regularly and never saw any mention of it until this past sunday. if you've never run it, you'll be pleased that you did.

CarbonCO2 = Oxygen 2.3.1 with ICS theme.
I use CarbonCO2 because I like the blue battery and status bar icons, and all the other theme-ing. You won't find a ROM more stable than Oxygen/Carbon and they have a great balance of performance, battery life and features. Your phone will not reboot or freeze.
I highly recommend MIUI (esp. Brainmaster's MOD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1181050) with morfic's Trinity Kernel.
I've been on CM7, NSCollab, and a handful of other ROMs, and ended up with MIUI. Usually, I found MIUI to be a tad slower than other roms, but for some reason, Brainmaster's seems super snappy.
However, all of the above are super-duper well made roms. And it'd probably be best for you to try em all, just to see how amazing all of these devs are
I haven't rooted/modded in awhile. I used to just use CM7 when I first got the phone. I've gone through 3 replacements now and have yet to mod it. Can you guys recommend the best ROM for the specifics I'm looking for?
-Has to have wifi calling (this is a must i barely get 1 bar to no svc in my apartment)
-has to record in 1080
-has to have HDMI working
Please let me know which ROM you'd recommend? I'm tired of the stock always getting the black screen of death and the random reboots. Tmobile said they can't exchange it anymore. Thanks!

NVIDIA NEVER AGAIN!
Weapon or Tsugi. Love weapon G2x because it is really stable amd has great toggles. Tsugi is great also but i really want the toggles.

Ran 2.3.3 eaglesblood for the longest and it was very stable, but I really like voodoo and the faux123 kernel for ota based roms kept freezing and rebooting my phone worse than the stock ROM/kernel and it took forever to reboot due to the cache rebuild issue. Then I tried RG2x MIUI and loved it but had too many bugs...plus MIUI has a bit of a learning curve to it. Now I'm on phoenixblood 1.4 with faux123 cm7 based kernel and so far everything is great. Only been a couple days but so far fast, smooth and stable!
If you don't care about overclocking or voodoo sound, then eaglesblood 2.3.3 based is very stable and fast.

I would also recommend one of the Eagle's Blood or Phoenix Blood Variants. Quick and stable. Good Luck!
Phoenix blood 1.4 no special kernels...
Yeah, I have tried then all and ever since nightly 201 from cyanogen...the CM 7 build have been the best

Get the one with the shoulder thing that goes up...
I've been using Weapon 2.6 since the day it was released. I also need WiFi calling.
Just install the LG cam 3.0 add-on and your set. I can also confirm that HDMI works nicely.
FWIW; I'v installed every iteration of Weapon as it was released. V 2.6 is the most stable for me.
I just got done trying the wajkui, and it worked pretty damn good. CM 7 worked pretty well for me too, and I have finally moved on to Bionix. It is all about finding which rom works best for you. Download a rom and try it out for a week, and flash another until you find what works. There are so many people who have made great roms, I am starting to get addicted to flashing one rom for a week and flashing another one the next week.
Bionix works really, really well for me and it's in active development. I've had good and bad experiences with Weapon, and I've also tried Tsugi and MIUI. So far Bionix has been the best for me. Good battery life, very responsive and most recently no random reboots.
If youre looking for straight style, go with MIUI. It looks great and theres plenty of very smooth themes out there I use a custom port called Singh-UI, its a bit more stable.
If youre looking for more customizations, go with CM7 Nightlies or Phoenixblood
I have tried all but right now I think the best two are Singh or WajkIUI both are MIUI ports.

Phoenix Blood is what I am using now. Was using Weapon because I thought no other ROM could match it's battery life and stability. This was after trying MIUI ports, CM7, etc. Phoenix Blood is stable, smooth, and I EASILY get a full day out of it with pretty heavy use. But, it all depends on what you are looking for, stylistically I mean.
Phoenix blood runs great on my phone, with very few bugs, it also gets frequent updates
I've only flashed CM7S, so i can't compare it to anything. I figure if it ain't broke, don't fix it! But I'm using CM7s latest nightly with faux123s CM OC/UV v0.4.8 kernel. I like all themes there are for CM7. Oh, and of course the great performance and awesome battery life I'm getting is good too. Best thing to do would be, backup and flash a new ROM every week or so and see which is better

Cm7 with the Trinity "thedestroyer" kernal. Phone doesn't get any faster. I get a solid day of battery life with the right profiles on setcpu and juice defender ultimate.

I tried both but haven't seen a difference on either..
But overall there are some things that aren't working that made me go back to my previous rom.

I had a lot of FC's on Hellfire's initial build, tried the second version, it was a bit better but then switched to EB's version and everything seems to work. I also installed the latest Faux kernel to save on battery.
both have issues at the moment. remember this is just an alpha build so you will have issues. just give it about 2 - 3 months. right now i'm using HF GB 1.9. it is soooooooooo smooth that i haven't wanted to reflash ICS. IMO HF 1.9 is clearly the best GB ROM out there. also HFS was stable when I had it. I didn't have any issues with it. no FC or anything other than just the normal stuff not working.
I have been running HFS for several days now and it has been running very smoothly for an Alpha release. Looking forward to updates in the near future.
Have any of you tried self kang 3? Not to through the topic off course.
I think HFS is most stable of the two.
I have tried both. Right now, I prefer EB but that is just my preference. They are both fine roms.
Right now i just like the look of EB over HF
Hadn't tried Hellfire but I'm using eglesblood. Using it because don has more experience with ics cuz he has the nexus an everyone seems to like his rom on the gnex. Not saying it to bash hell, just that has less experience but I can see hell has a lot of potential.

HFS v.1.1
Haven't tried EB ICS, but am very happy with HFS. I've had no problems since I flashed it when it came out. My phone has an uptime of 4.5 days without a FC or glitch. Right now it's my daily driver till v1.2 comes out.
PartzMan2
Phone: Rooted G2x
Rom: HFS v1.1
OC: 1200 Mhz
I'm using eb right now because its the most stable atm. I'm a big fan of hell's work so as soon as its as smooth as hellfire , I'm flashing It.

Faux kernel hasn't made any battery saving changes yet, just adding OC/UV and DS Driver
I just installed EB and it's pretty much perfect. Runs smooth as hell, and I love the new ICS stuff. I am having a huge issue with not being able to get any data connection though. I've read and re-read through the pages of the original post but couldn't find anyone mentioning this issue. I have tried to manually add the apn and it doesn't seem to save the settings. Has anyone else had this issue with EB? Does anyone have a simple fix for this issue?
Thanks for reading.
Both great
Both roms are great, ive used em both and currently running HFS, I wish the camera would get sorted out soon otherwise they are both pretty great.
Hello, everyone!
I have nothing but love for the HellFire ICS ROM, and have been using Hell's ROMs since Hellfire Phoenix 1.5.
I used EB for a while a few months back, but preferred the CM7 UI and stayed with that until I first tried the Hellfire ROMs.
I've noticed that EB ICS rom lags a bit when I hit the app drawer, not really a big deal, but gets annoying sometimes, I'm not sure if its the same for Hellfire?

Which Stock Rom is best Performance for Nexus S?
Android Gingerbread 2.3.6
or
Android Ice Cream Sandwich

I can't really say much about stock since ics isn't out yet for i9020, but I definitely prefer custom gingerbread over custom ics. OXYGEN has been fast and rock stable for me, whereas all the ics roms I've tried have given me short battery life and many crashes.
I definitely prefer the appearance and functions of ics though

ICS without any doubt. The phone feels a lot faster, my battery life is better in ICS then in GB, ICS is polished and beautiful, some new apps only work on android 4.0, the new OS has some good built in functions, like 3G data monitor, you can now make panoramas without a 3rd app, etc.
If looking at stock roms, then ICS for sure. Much more efficient usage of RAM, multi-tasking which allows me to close out apps I have open. It looks clean and nice color scheme. Also Holo (font) is freaking awesome. The new ICS widgets are also nice. Calendar and gmail have been improved.
I haven't played around with the various ICS ROMs yet to compare those.
GB. ICS is slow opening apps. Also the transitions look more polished but at the expense of snappiness. I flashed back to GB stock to do some things on the phone and I am noticing how fast GB is.
I would say ICS (not stock). Currently running nuhetri v3.0.1 with AirKernel with voodoo colors and I definitely like it more than GB. No problems with this ROM and it has a great performance and battery life.
But the question is about the stock roms, not the customs roms....
For me is GB, is more faster and don´t have so many lag...
It's kind of weird that a lot of people are saying that GB is a lot faster than ICS. At least on my experience, ICS is much more fast and smooth compared to GB.

I will test later with others to see if it resolves
i have CM 9 version 3. I like it. Its beautiful looks is a big thing for me . performance wise... there is a little "lag" but think about everything else you get from ICS. i dont mind it at all .
4.04
You without me is like Harold Melvin without the Blue Notes...
Whatever stock or customed
ICS is much better

I have a crespo nexus s with stock jb 4.1.1 and I find its performance a bit laggy in some occasions, so I decided to try some custom ROM and I would like some help.
What I want
First of all it has to be as stable as possible because this is my daily driver.
I also want it to be as lightweight and fast as possible. Ram usage has to be minimal and I want it to be responsive enough so that I don't have to wait for the dialer to start every single time I want to make a call. I don't care about benchmark performance, just snappy navigation and performance in common tasks and web browsing.
Battery life should be at least on par with the stock ROM.
I want the features of the stock ROM in terms of apps.
I don't care about customization or extra features.
I want it to be jb based, or at least ICS.
What ROM do you think would suit me? I checked out cm, codename and slimbean. How do they compare?
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
I think if you want nearly stock, out of the three you looked at, slimbean is for you. Cna and cm are indeed awesome, but are packed with extras.
Sent from my Nexus S using xda app-developers app
Rasbean, or stock with Marmite Kernel and Brainmasters tweaks!
Sent from my Nexus S using xda premium
I'd have to say first pick for you would be RasBean, secondly SlimRom and if you want another option and like dark colors then I would say BlackBean. Depending how much kernel control I would say Marmite or Matrix.
Personally I keep falling back on BlackBean and Marmite.
Hope this helps!
Flashed Rasbean with trinity kernel @ 1.44Ghz. It's like having a new phone. Thanks!
