[Q] So how do you change locale anyway? - General Questions and Answers

I have a Viewsonic GTab running Flashback 10.0. I believe it is Android 3.1.
I travel a lot and find that lots of apps use the language of the country I am in as the language displayed. I assume it thinks because my IP address is in China or Thailand I want to see the local lingo when I really want to see English. I have adjusted the settings so my preferred language is English.
How can I set locale so the IP address is ignored and my desired language is shown?
I have looked extensively and found nothing that helps.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Change browser locale

I'm running Nitro's rom (excellent btw). For some reason the IE browser has decided that I should get all application strings in French. My locale is set to Belgian (Dutch)! Phone GUI language is kept on EN-US, so why on earth does this silly program decide that I should get a French interface? Worst of all: I can't find any way to change this. Any help appreciated

English menus and Swedish region?

Hi!
So I'm from Sweden but I always prefer menus in English whether it be my mobile phone or computer. Although I want to use everything bound to the metric system.
If I set it to UK - English I get miles in google maps for instance, imperial ****.
So this is done easy in windows mobile or in Windows/Ubuntu.
How can I do this with my android device?
Thanks!

[Q] Locale fallback other than english

Hi,
I've been searching for a way to change the fallback locale in Android, and found nothing at all so far.
So, The phone is set to a particular locale, say Catalan. Now, whenever an application is launched that isn't translated to said language, the phone will fall back to english, and display everything in either catalan or english.
The question is... is it possible to specify a different locale for fallback? say... German? So the phone would try to display the application in another language before falling back to english.
I'd love that as well.
However, I'm afraid that the fallback language is an app decision.
If your locale is not supported, then the app chooses for you.

[Q] Teclast P76 Ti

Heya,
My kid just got a Teclast P76 Ti in x-mas present. Can I do anything to it without ruin the whole tablet setup?
I've been searching and did not see anything about updating or rooting these devices.
One thing I've seen in the tablet is in the language settings.. the last 3 options are in chinese, how do I change that?
And is t possible to alter the OS in any way?
If so... To what?
Language selection options are usually in the language the person wants. The Chinese options will be for Chinese languages and anyone wanting these can read them. For example, if I wanted to set the language to Thai, the entry would say Thai in Thai script not in English.

Language Issue

Hi. Last year my mother bought for herself a Vodafone smart 3. She's happy with it, but the issue that she has with the phone is that she can't change the language of the phone to Ukrainian (She's Ukrainian) because the phone only has English and Spanish. I have tried apps like locale changer and even an app that allows you to change the language of a specific app. All of them were useless, because they changed the language of the apps to Ukrainian, but, the system UI changed to english. Maybe someone knows an answer to solve this issue, thanks for reading my issue.
