Hello
Now i am going to return my HTC HD7 phone and change it for a new one.
Why?
The camera wont turn on neither on the camera button neither in the menu.
Here is the film, what it actually does.
I understand that i am not allone with this camera issue.
So far there is no solution for this problem so in this case there is only return and get a new one option.

Camera Issue Solution
I had the same problem with my HTC HD7 and have found a possible solution. I simply took the battery out and my SIM card, let it sit for about 1 minute. Put the SIM card back in and the battery then turned the phone back on. It fixed my camera issue.
I am not saying this will fix the issue permanently but it worked for me, I havent had any issues with the camera thus far.
Yet another reason to stop buying HTCs phones IMO.
HTC = High Tech Crap!
Wow, two imbeciles come in here and spread BS instead of answering and helping OP.
OP, I've never had that problem nor have I heard of it, so it's most definitely specific to your device so using the manufacturers warranty and getting a replacement is definitely the best solution, although nando's workaround might work...or a hard reset if it's a glitch.

AFAIK Its a windows phone issue, It has nothing to do with htc, HD7 or whatever.
It happens to zune, and marketplace too, and It only takes a simple reboot to solve it.
Still, if you believe its an hd7 issue, you shouldnt be asking it here. This is a windows-phone 7 forum, and device-related problems should be asked in their respective forums.
I have fixed this problem by myself, its an hardware problem. Nobody helped about the solution even HTC engineers. I can send the solution photos. [email protected] (Antalya/TURKEY)
The same problem
Nobody can help me with It? I have the ecxatly same problem...
As stated already, You might get better help with HD7 issues if you post in the HD7 specific forum, and it might help to keep the device trolls at bay...

I tried two ways of succesfully fixing this:
-3 times hard resetting
-3times soft resetting
Both did the trick for me, but for obvious reasons I now always soft reset 3 times whenever this occurs.
(Hasn't happened since NoDo tho..)
(sorry for my bad english)..
I do have a same problem. I am from indonesia, already told the shop which i bought this phone. They cant give me any replacement, only said, under repair or somekind of service.
Actually i rarely use handphone camera, but under this situation, felt weird. Any one has solution? please share..
It's a hardware issue with certain batch of the HTC HD7. I suggest you take your phone in for a replacement.
But they wont replace for a new one, i just bought it 3 weeks ago. The said they will repair it or under service. What a shame..
My buddy's HD7 had the same problem but seemed to go away with NODO. Is your phone all updated?

Hi there
I had the same issue with my HD7. O2 serviced it for me and it worked for another few months. Today the camera wont load again. I would say it is a software issue rather that hardware issue as I remember when it happened before soft reset and then hard reset could fix the issue till it completely stopped.
I need to take it again to the service.
it's remind me my desire phone ( android ) i had the same problem after clockword and cooked rom install. i just updated the phone radio and all was ok.
I know it's not the same plateform but i hope it can help maby try to update software.

HTC HD7 Camera Dead
Hi all,
I have the same problem - just went to use the camera on day and no response. Pressing the camera button or intiating from within the software just results in the menu scrolling away (as though the camera is starting) and then scrolling back.
I've tried pulling the battery and sim - no luck.
Unfortunately my location means I can't send it back for repair with it costing $$$s and taking over a month.
Only had the phone a couple of months - not very happy.
There seems to be a lot of people writing about this exact issue on the HTC forums so I can only assume it is indeed a hardware fault in a batch of the HD7s rather than a software issue.

The camera on my Sensation used to take awesome pictures, but I'm having major issues after the OTA. In bright outdoor shots, they still turnout OK but indoor and Macro all turn out blurry and out of focus. It's so bad that none of the Barcode or Tag scanners work anymore due to the camera's inability to focus on things up close. It looks like it goes in and out of focus really quickly, leading me to believe that this is a software issue...but I've tried on other camera apps and having the same issue. It's driving me crazy and I've actually performed a couple of hard resets, which didn't help with the issue.
Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution? I've tried every setting possible.
mine would occasionally lose focus. i would have to move it around or shake it to get it to refocus on the object to take a clear picture. havent had that issue on the new rom yet.
Mine is the same
I hadn't really given it much thought, but yes, I agree, the focus is not as good as it used to be.
If your rooted you can flash the camera mod by m-deejay.
The same here. Noticed it a few days ago and now I can see its indeed some sort of software flaw. Hopefully a fix will come soon.

Is it a ROM Flash issue?
That is: have you tried re-flashing CM7?
When did you flash CM7 in relation to noticing your camera doesn't work?
Did it ever work since you flashed CM7 or did you just notice it?
Is it an application issue?
That is: have you tried a different camera from the market?
Have you tried installing the camera (included in CM7) again?
Is it a hardware issue?
That is: have you visually inspected the camera? Dropped the phone? Stepped on (or otherwise significantly compress) the phone?
SOME information other than "Hey yo, my camera no worky." would really help out.
Sorry for the lack of description, i think it might just be a hardware issue because i first noticed it stopped working randomly when i had Juicy rom on then i flashed a rom that didnt work and then finally got CM7 and it worked great but the camera issue is still affecting it. I have tried taking pictures on different camera apps and i still get that same error screen. I dont know what other info to provide, i think its just broke thanks for helping!
Happened to me once and kinda scared me a bit lol All I kept getting was a black screen no matter what camera app I used even factory reset didn't fix it. What worked for me was to go completely clean and flash the RUU gingerbread update from AT&T.

Hi
Problem: every time I open the camera (no matter what app), the screen turns black and I can't do anything (not even access apps in progress).
I have to take out the battery and plug it back in to be able to use my phone back...
I've tested the camera with Z - Device Test and the camera is checked with green, which means the hardware works? (or am I wrong?). But when I click to test the camera, the app crashes. (The secondary (front) camera works just fine, the testing too).
I'm now running 4.0.4, 9.0.0-RC2-pyramid, kernel (3.0.36-g7290c7f [email protected] #2), CPU (ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v7l)) with Apex Launcher. I'm S-on and HBOOT is 1.27
Things I have done :
I flashed my NAND with original rom and HTC Sense (everything stock) but that didn't help either.
I've also read that you can format the sd card : I've done that, but camera still doens't work.
I've heard about that geo-tagging could cause this, but I have to open the camera app first to turn that off, I guess.
Any suggestion is welcome!
If you are convinced that it is a hardware problem, I still have warranty (only got the sensation for 5 months) but I prefer to solve it myself so I don't have to miss my phone for x days

Same thing happened to me some years before with my TD2 and YES the camera was broken. I would only get a black screen and than get stuck. I suggest you take it to the shop, if you are under warranty. Don't risk messing up your phone more than it is, they might give you the fault for the malfunction.

If you are S-off you should make it s-on and lock the bootloader. Just search the forum you'll find hundreds of threads about returning to stock. Good luck!
Hey, I have the Nexus 5 and I have few troubles with it lately.
Since I've updated my phone to 4.4.2 I'm having problems with focusing my camera, the phone doesn't recognize the correct focus most of the time and the result is pretty aweful images, (The camera wont focus even when i touch the screen. The focus image goes off but it only changes the brightness).
I'm pretty sure that the problem is not with the firmware because rarely, I load the camera application and it captures great again, but the next time I load it the problem returns.
When Google annouced that the next update (4.4.3) will include camera bug fix, I figured out that I'm not alone with this problem. But even after the update I still have this problem.
A few shots that I took to show the problem:

Oh, you had previously used his mod?? I've seen people messing up the camera app whilst uninstalling his mod because of different libs. Not sure if it was a coincidence.
Are you stock+rooted? If so, I would flash the system.img and re-root and see if it fixes it?? (assuming that you've installed the camera app as a system app)

Uninstall the mod. Uninstall any camera apk. Dirty flash the custom rom which you're using and then install the google camera from playstore again and see if it works now?
If it's still not working, Factory reset the device and start from scratch. Still having a problem? Might be a hardware issue??

Just loaded stock ROM and did factory reset and still no go. Camera still blurry. How would it be a hardware issue? I was running 4.4.2 and the camera was working perfectly until I upgraded to 4.4.3 then the camera started being blurry

Final thing I could suggest you is flashing the 4.4.3 factory images to get back to complete stock. If this doesn't fix it, I'm not sure what to suggest you anymore regarding this issue. AFAIK, after flashing the factory images, you have covered all bases from the software perspective, so it could be a hardware issue.
Hey guys just wanted to say that im the last couple days the camera magically started to take good shots again. It might be because of some silent patch or something because I didn't update anything.
Thanks for the help

theres no "silent patch". if you uninstalled any other app, they could of been affecting it. or, it couldve just been very bad lighting that you were using before. or, sometimes just rebooting, once or several times, fixes issues.

None of above. In the past 3 months I rebooted many times, and factory reseted twice in order to fix this problem. I don't really know what changed but I'm just glad that it's working again
Temp fix (not good but works for now) & suggested permanent fix
First - I take no responsibility for you trying these things. You could break your phone completely or make the problem worse.
If you have the phone under warranty and can wait the weeks to get LG to fix your phone then that is your best option.
I used my phone for work and came from a CDMA phone so I don't have a replacement phone to use if I send my in.
Short summary: My wife and I got our phones at the same time. We have the same software, modem/radio, and yet my phone will not auto focus. Her phone camera works fine.
I've restored old camera app versions, restored roms, tried different kernels, and got back to pure stock. No software fix works.
Temp fix (works for me, and indicates a hardware issue - camera or sensor or loose connection). **This could damage your phone more, completely at your own risk if you try this.
I can reproduce this fix because I have to do this anytime I start the app from a cold or extended sleep state. If I open the camera app I only get blurry focus, it tried to auto focus but never gets clear.
-While the app is open, I gentle tap the top of the phone, on the side edge of the phone, near the camera against a sold (but often cloth covered service). The gentle/solid tap does something to the camera or a sensor because then the camera focuses fine for a while.
I believe this indicates a real hardware issue of some type. As I mentioned my phone and my wife phone have identical Rom, Radio/modem, etc.
Possible permanent fix (definitely a warranty void if anyone tries this) - replace the camera.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vioySXQv5Gs
Has anyone has this auto focus issue and replaced the camera to fix it? I can't be without a phone for weeks to get it repaired by LG unless I find a temp GSM/LTE phone.
If someone takes the risk to try my tap method to temp fix the auto-focus on the camera please let me know if it works for you also.

ive had this issue almost since ive gotten the phone last november.
request a replacement from google if you got it from google play. otherwise, manufacturer warranty may get you a replacement or repair.
The camera is the one area my old Galaxy S3 beats my Nexus 5, no contest. I've had focusing issues since I got it back in February. I've only used stock roms, and it has issues in other camera apps. There could be an object taking up 80% of the view, anywhere between a couple inches to a foot in front of it, and it will still focus on something further away.

Hey
I change the camera and it was ok for a month or so. But now there are same focusing problems as before =(. So it might be bad hardware problems over at lg?
I have the same problem and plan to replace the camera using the method described in the video. However, is there any guarantee it will work? It would suck if the camera was not the problem, but instead some loose cable or sensor deeper inside. Any thoughts?
