Ever since I flashed the newest humble I have the plain white sms and I want to know how I can get the original sms that had the green and orange messaging blocks.I hope this is a clear question.

You would need to get a hold of the Samsung messaging app .apk for starters. There may be more to it than that though since the Rom is themed and danalo made a lot framework changes. Somebody more informed than I will probably weigh in. You could always pm danalo himself and ask about it. I know I've replaced .apk's in the past or added ones back in with relative ease. Just not sure about the messaging app.

Yeah you would just replace mms apps

you need mms.apk and mmsprovisions.apk from the rom which has the look you want, make copies of old ones as backup then delete them and put new ones in /system/app and reboot

Ok i will try it out thanks.

I have tried to get the sk4g sms messaging app from a stock rom, and I honestly don't know what's it's under. And if you guys had any idea what I was called I would greatly appreciate if you told me, thanks

Are you looking for the group text app or cloudtext?
Sent from my SGH-T839 using XDA App
I'm not sure. I just want the UI that comes with stock sidekick sms messaging. The one i have on touchwiz 3.0, I don't really like it. and I wanna have the sidekick 4g messaging. Is it a theme-based thing?
Look at post 2 of the GCv2/TMW3 thread, there's an addons section with a flashable version of the stock MMS app.
Wow! Thanks guys! It worked. I flashed that file multiple times before and it never worked, but all of a sudden it worked now. So thanks again.

I wish I could know exactly what's the problem, I use Google voice without a problem. You might want to go to the website and check your settings. If you want to go back to regular just cancel call forwarding in the Google voice website and set up Verizon voicemail. And also you posted in the wrong forum, try QA forum next time

Moving to Q&A
Ok I personally dont care for Google Voice . I'm on GC 2.1 GBE it does not have the Verizon Visual VM apk , I have downloaded several different versions of the Verizon VVMs and none of them will install . So how can I get them to install ??
I have been using the mms_cyan.apk
Found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901216
And have been quite happy with it, with a couple exceptions. 1) It does not show the notification on my lock screen like my stock mms app does and 2) found out last night than anytime I go to send an audio or video file, the app FC's. If anyone could help me either figure out how to resolve these 2 issues or if it's too complex for someone who had little to no experience working w/ apks perhaps resolve it and tell me what had to be done so that I can learn from the experience I would be greatful.
I have included my stock mms.apk, the mms_cyan.apk, as well as my framework-res.apk in the zip file.
Thank you in advance.
Edit: I am using a LG-C800 on 2.3.4 if that matters
Any idea guys? And this may need to be moved to the Android specific forum?

Maybe the mms.cyan is missing files from your stock mms.apk

But where would I begin to try and resolve the issue? I'm pretty computer savvy, but programming and the like has never really been my strong suite; although not afraid to try if pointed in the right direction.
The files u downloaded, r they designed for your phone?
Sent from my HTC_A510c
I haven't been able to find anything designed for my phone yet. Newer model. But everything works aside from being able to send audio or video sends pictures fine.
That might be why then, maybe
Sent from my HTC_A510c
Actually, just tested it and I can't send any mms with this app... can receive just fine though. Where would I have to start to make the mms_cyan compatible? Cause the stock mms app sucks horribly, cannot even choose what folder to download attachments to. Really like the one I'm using but the limitation of not being able to send an mms just isn't a viable option...
Sent from my LG-C800 using xda premium
A dev could probaly help you on that, I have no dev experience
Sent from my HTC_A510c
Well here's hoping some dev responds.. lol
Mod, please move this post to the android dev questions forum.

Ok so after looking at the logcat I'm seeing that for picture messages it's being denied by the server for some reason... as for the problem with adding audio and it crashing I'm still at a loss... any dev able to possibly offer some insight?
Sent from my LG-C800 using xda premium
if it worked in ur phone place the apk in the rom and reload it, if never worked, the apk might not be for your phone
Maybe the mms.cyan is missing files from your stock mms.apk
Any idea as to where to start? After decompiling both apks with autoapktool and looking in the folders the stock has a lot more folders inside, but don't know where to begin narrowing it down as to where the problem may lie. Thanks in advance...

what its mms.cyan can change skin?
It appears to be a modded stock mms.apk with the option of a white or black background and with the black background the names on the main conversation screen as well as 'new message' are colored cyan as well as the default contact image is modded, really like the app and wish I could get some help to mod it to work on my phone properly...
Sent from my LG-C800 using xda premium
I'm in about the same boat as you as far as skills go. If we can get dev attention to a ClorkworkMod recovery, then CyanogenMod (which I assume is where your preferred MMS comes from, judging by the name) opens up to us. The MyTouch Q is supposed to get an OTA update to ICS second quarter of this year, so it can definitely run the latest stuff-- even when bloated down with T-Mo apps and CarrierIQ. It's really a neat slider.
Yeah, after tweaking the phone some its pretty quick and love the fact its a slider... keep checking into the post hoping they will figure out cwm for the c800 but no such luck so far.
And judging from the original post where I found the mms_cyan, the OP has a lot of posts for HTC so thinking it was from one of those roms... but having no luck so far figuring out where to start so I can mod it to work fully on my phone.... not that I have any programming knowledge anyhow but... lol

Ok, so since I've been unable to figure this out on my own... I would gladly donate to whoever can figure this out so that I can have the Mms.apk that I want.

Almost hate to bump such an old post of mine, however still have been unable to figure out how to modify my prefered mms.apk to work as the stock mms does. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Tried the alternative messaging programs out there and none are what i'm looking for...

I am running stock 2.3.6 and it is rooted. I am wanting to change the icons for some of the stock apps. I have done this plenty of times before with a couple of my other phones and i know how to do this. I am not used to Motorola software and i am having a hell of a time locating where these icons are stored at. I'm wanting to change the Text Messaging app icon and the Email app icon. Usually they are in the system/app with the app itself. I have dug around in this location and can't seem to come up with anything. If someone could give me a location of these two icons i would greatly appreciate it.

/system/framework/blur-res.apk
Thank you very much. When i first started digging for the icons i didn't realize how much Motorola made their software different than the other manufacturers. I really appreciate it, thanks again.

I tried to change the browser icon and ended up with the apk in the system but missing from the home launcher and couldn't get it to show up at all so i had to flash back to 2.3.5 and start over. That's what i get for not installing bootstrap and making a backup. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get rid of the oversized Google search bar so i can just have a normal one.

Wow....if u just used Desktop Visualizer you'd end up with the icons u want and via a less tedious way to get them and no worries of the inconvenience you outlined above. Just sayin'

Just downloaded, it does what i need it to do. I wished i would of known about this app last night. It would of saved me from having to flash back to 2.3.5. O well, at least i learned what not to do and it was good practice. Screwing **** up is the best way to learn. Thanks

Using that app is for guys like me who have no intention of learning the guts of Android, but you seem like a guy who wants to learn that stuff so it makes sense you'd go about it the way you did. Glad it worked for you though, it's a pretty nifty app that can be used for more than just changing icons too, def a must have for any Android user IMO.
I like to actually do personal theming with roms by actually tearing a rom apart on my computer and changing things. I really don't like just getting things off of the market to do theming. It's a little too easy . Since we are limited with the a2 as far as roms go i haven't really got into it as much as i did with my infuse or my captivate. Once i start learning more about motorolas software ill get back into it. Thanks again for your help, that app is pretty good.

I have another question regarding the apk itself this time. I am a big swype person and I have a big collection of swype apks that are themed. I am wanting to get rid of any traces of Swype from being a system apk, that way i can install any of the swype apks that i store on my sd card without any hassle. Now, i have uninstalled the stock swype, i got rid of the com.swype file that is in the data/data folder. The phone still sees it as a system apk. Does anyone know where there might be a file or a text telling the phone that it is a system apk?

My gf is having some issues with her new blaze.
I rooted it for wifi tethering and tom remove some bloat.
Besides that it's stock everything.
Her issue is when texting, sometimes the text disappears and she can continue to type or delete but that text remains invisible until you back out the stock messaging app and go back in.
Any thoughts on this?
Anyone else get this issue?

are you using the stock msg app? have you applied any themes? i use handcent for my texting, it works way better than stock. i remember something a while back (on my vibrant) about text dissappearing and i dont recall exactly what it was but i think it had to do with a theme or font pack making text white... if that helps any.
