[Q] help w/ Downgrade VivoW with hboot 0.98 - General Questions and Answers

Hi, hoping someone will be willing to point me in the right direction.
First post every, first time trying to root.
Inc1 s-on 2.3.4
(ubuntu 11.10) I like Ubuntu, but I am not the sharpest Linux user. Hope to improve.
Before I started trying to run this script I pushed zergRush out to /data/local and get temp root # now I have start trying to run hack-vivow.sh to get supper and s-off perm after downgrading.
I am not sure I have fastboot setup correctly, but I looked at hack-vivow.sh it looks like it pushes it out to .bin. Also not certain where I should put all the files so that they will work together. Started out with them in my home dir and latter moved the to platform-tools. The out come is the same.
*Do I need to install fastboot? Where and how would I install it at?
*Do I need to rm /data/local do to my first a tempt I tried but permission denied
Thanks
[email protected]:/home/lee/SDK/android-sdk-linux_x86/platform-tools# sh hack-vivow.sh
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

Go here. It's for windows and Mac http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340710 no it is not locked its closed. and here is what it says. linux users i know youve got it handled but for you mac users that dont understand how to do anything more then dump money in apples pockets there is a readme in there
DOWNLOAD http://www.holylivingfuck.com/ACS/st...-Easy-Root.zip. download the zip there's a readme in there. Did u follow the instructions exactly as directed in the readme?
I am having the same issue as the OP on my Mac. Help please?
Have you found a way for this root method to work.
I am having the exact same results. It appears that everything went correctly, but there is no Superuser app on my phone after it reboots, and the phone is not actually rooted.
---------- Post added at 04:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:30 PM ----------
I wanted to post a follow up.
I ended up using the instructions from 2b from here on my linux box.
It worked perfectly.
I personally just used the latest version of Parallels and used SuperOneClick to root. No issues what-so-ever.
Same problem here on my mac. OSX 10.7. About to try my other USB port and if that doesn't work I dunno what to do.
Hi Everyone,
I was having the exact same issues as everyone else, so I decided to look inside the Linux-Mac.sh shell script.
Turns out the problem was that after the zergrush, it wasn't actually waiting for your device to reconnect before trying to remount the filesystem.
I modified the script by adding the following line:
Code:
$adb wait-for-device
It goes right after the "wait for phone to reconnect" message, and right before the "$adb remount" so that in the script it looks something like:
Code:
echo "Wait for phone to reconnect..."
$adb wait-for-device
$adb remount
Worked fine for me, although I take no responsibility for it.
This also worked like a charm for me. Took less the 2 min. Already hit the thanks button already.

Rooting SG S2 2.3.6 with DoomLord
I used DoomLord to root 2.3.3 and 2.3.5, but when it came to 2.3.6, I had the same problems as a number of other users, namely, after sending 189 zerglings, I see that it came up with Hellions with BLUE flames! then "correcting permissions" and "remounting /system" then a series of permissions denied, and ending with Read-only file system
It would be really helpful if this problem could be solved.

Motorola Defy+ rooting problem
I have a slightly different problem on my Motorola Defy+ (v2.3.4). Ran DooMLoRD's V3 Rooting Kit and it ran flawlessly - said it was successful...but it appears not to have worked. No Superuser app that I can see anywhere, busybox and Titanium Backup won't run (no Root priviledges) and I can't su in terminal (get permission denied). Am I missing something basic? Reading through the threads relating to this like this one - it seems like some are saying that the Zergrush exploit was patched in November. So can anyone clarify?
Also (stupid question maybe) but since the V3 script said it worked - do I need to attempt to run the unroot script before trying something else (ie am i going to end up in a mess if I try a different method without undoing what the V3 script has done / thinks it has done)? Any advice / assistance appreciated.
try disable anti-virus or change another pc.. it work on my desktop while i disable my anti-virus but doesnt work on my laptop with anti-virus.

you need to mount your system as r/w (read write). it means your phone is telling the server that it can't change or edit files. Do you know how to use adb? If not you might want to research that, it's the only why I know how to. With out root you can't do it with an app I guess search around more for things to auto-root.

[Q] How to root a chinese tablet ???

Hi folks,

I think, is simlar like this:wewewe.tabtech.de/hersteller/prestigio-97-zoll-tablet-mit-android-4-0)
But it is impossible (for me) to root the tablet. I have try Gingerbreak, z4root, SuperOneKlick, DooMLoRD-Scipt, aso.
I am using linux on my pc and i like the manual way.
According the way of the script, i have pushed (with adb) all relevant files to /data/local/tmp and set the rights.
After running zergRush, i dont get root access.
My output:
Code:

Code:

Now i have get an update.zip from the manfacturer. It did not work because the buildnumber is older than mine.
I have opend the update.zip, make some changes (su, superuser.apk) and have sign it again.
After start recovery from sd_card i get the message verification failed.
I have tryed many ways (other signapk.jar, test-certificates/keys, own certifikates/keys, etc) - always the same --> verification failed
What is the secret of signing? only the update.zip what i have get is valid???

Hello everyone,I am new to flashing and stuff.
I am trying to install a custom rom. So I unlocked my bootloaded by htcdev.
