(6/1)This is Darchs newest updated rom, plus the stuff i like to roll with. Darch battery fix and vvm are already built in. This is the GOOGLE version, meaning gbits are built in as well. For screens look below. Ive changed nothing visually so no new screenies.

(old)Ive been exp battery issues after a days use, and im trying to narrow down the problem...Im working on an update with the new rom and fixes because i would like to run this but i need my battery life too like my DamageRs.....I modded them to have awesome battery, but the same mods on an aosp dont have the same effect, same with my opengl hacks....IM WORKING ON THE UPDATE, bear with me, im only making it better
After taking all of the comments from last nite into consideration, and staying up all nite to finish, I updated the mod with a new launcher, i modded the helix, made two more fonts for the two ver. KKD_MODv3.2G and KKD_MODv3.2lite I fixed EVERYTHING i had comments on....Also i added 5 fonts in update.zip form for anyone in case they dont like what they see....
Ive fallen into a bad habit where i CANNOT flash a rom w/o modding it to my liking......So this is a beta v. MOD of darch's latest and greatest...I HAD to try it. Made me jump Damage Ship for a sec. Still testing, but afict everything is working nicely. Im touching it up now and ill put up the beta in a bit....This is not a beta to me, but ill wait till i get a little feedback to polish it.
This rom has EVERYTHING In DarchDroid + some of XTRA goodies we can ALL use. This is the rom i made for myself, i NEVER used the original.....Im happy to share with you my modded ver. of DarkDroid. I call it DarchKingKang(had to do it).....DDK.v2 for short....

I dont want to offend darch or anyone that loves his work, this is merely what i did before i flashed this rom onto my OWN hero.....I wanted to keep this lite since it is a minimalist rom and i only added utilities that everyone here would utilize....

Looks really nice but im not fond of the fonts, they look all cut off.
I agree you do good work, but your fonts completely turn me away from trying every one of your ROMS...
Looks cool, I'll give it a flash when you put it up.
TBH though, I hate the stock white notification bar from AOSP builds.. looks especially goofy to me with roms like this where everything else is themed darker

You could take the rom or theme and put your own fonts in before flashing.

I wasn't bashing anybody and i agree the fonts are pretty bad but the theme otherwise looks good. I just said you guys could always install your own fonts.
does this still have the battery drain issue?
Wow those fonts would give me a headache but outside of that great job, always glad to see more roms around the forums! I'll give it a shot.

Me neither, it was my beta and that font looked cool on my pc, in my post up there i explained the whole situation and that YOU WONT GET THIS FONT in giant letters...... Just sick of looking @ stock anything and i like to experiment...Most ppl dont like what i do.I do it for myself, and the ppl that follow what i do, really like my stuff..... Sort of a LOVE HATE deal....

Sorry about that but its your loss.... If youd looked into what i do youd see i include the stock font with any of my mods because few ppl like mine, and i explained the pictured font in the op...You should really try one and flash one of my update zip stock fonts.....You shouldnt let font stop you from flashing ANY rom, you might miss something really sweet. I have ppl that hate red but ran my red theme till i up'd somthing new because they appreciate what i do.....Sorry youd let a update.zip for stock font stop you from trying something new...Not really looking for fans anyway, just maybe a few ppl that enjoy my mods as much as i do, and i achieved that goal a LONG time ago, without about 98% of cdma hero not looking twice @ what i do, so im used to it and idrc.

Sorry you dont like my app drawer launcher, i learned how to make glass effects so i made that reflection at the top to accent the taskbar, and made the app drawer launcher indicators green to match the system highlites, and lastly i made the button presses on the swype/android hybrid kb orange to match the search bar highlight...... LOOK CLOSER...It matches and IT IS themed...if i couldnt match colors and shapes thered be no point in themeing..Also, i looked for soooo long to find statusbar_backround, and its not the same part in this rom so i couldnt change it. I really wanted to make it just like the launcher drawer originally... All the ideas are very good, but its much. harder to make them materialze.....its easy to say this stuff after you see it.... but i took the time to MAKE it....Thanks for being honest....im sure you can appreciate my honesty as well...

Nope. I waited till he fixed it before i themed it. Camcorder works now too
7 comments; 1 compliment, 1 person keeping the peace, and 5 complaints......I remember a while ago i talked to damage and he was *****ing us out for ragging on DC and what needed to be [email protected] first i thought he was a ****, but ive slowly come to understand him over time.....he was never a ****, i just had NO IDEA where he was coming from.....Itd be a little more helpful if instead of telling me what you dont like, how bout telling what you do like and put it up for me to use so i can make my stuff more accepted by you......Thats EXACTLY what id do, so i dont think its very far fetched to expect it here on a development site...negativity and complaints are soo easy to put out there, but compliments, constructive criticism, and offering a logical solution dont seem to be the common choice around here.....Sorry if anyone finds this a bit harsh, do not take offense. I have been working on this since yesturday to get it up here so ppl can have a modded aosp if they wish, and it seems that all my work is wasted because of something as simple to change as font, is not well liked......I would think anyone following the developement sub forum would know how to change font, or flash an update.zip containing it.....Whats that old saying?? Thanks, happy you appreciate the work......I wish i could make my own by now as well, but for now ill settle for modding and themeing. Ive been reading about compiling source so i can build my own from aosp for about a month and i think i may be ready to dive in soon

No I understand, I've tried doing themes but with two kids it's hard to find the time anymore. I've just personally never liked the look of just the white notification bar, I prefer the Sense black style our Hero's came out of the box until we flashed them to hell and back. The launcher looks good and I get where your coming from to match the launcher to the taskbar. Overall it looks good, and unlike a lot of the other ones I like that font alot and want to try it. If anything it looks like it could stand to be smaller, but again, that's more of an Android issue considering the system resizes the base fonts for the different parts of it and the stylized fonts must be larger to give it the style.
Don't mind the complaints, there's always a place for any sort of theme or rom you can come up with. If anything maybe do a screencap with the stock font at the top of the post for comparison (and since you do provide it as well), then do the rest with the font you want to do. I think that would help with the font complaints.

When did thus get fixed ( battery drain ) I flashed the newest update and still have 100% awake time and a massive battery drain

hello everyone. heres another one of those crazy things i do here. this time i built on damage so i could use dconfig again. I had the idea to put this together when i saw koni's transparent mod,then the aosp zip and burst's theme. This is mish mash of all of that work+ some of what i do. since its built on damage and the biggest add on to theme was burst's theme. But while i was ripping them apart i realized that the aosp theme was basically using the same framework as burst with a few tweaks. Then got it to boot. I did have some serious issues with the kbs and the notifier but i learned what i was doing and fixed it then decided to post...Didnt take as long to finish this(about a day), because i didnt do ALL the themeing. I just found it and mixed it all together with some of my own tweaks added in both visually and performance wise.

Sorry to be the debbie downer but I think it looks garbage. :/ A bunch of poorly done photoshop filters slapped into a single rom. Different strokes for different folks I suppose.

if anything you should be downloading the rom and then ripping it apart and learning how to do what i do. Then MAYBE ill have a little respect for your opinion and what you have to say about me or my work.I am not a dev nor to i claim to be.it is your choice to choose this rom. so what was your reason?
your right; those 1000+photos did take me some time to filter EACH INDIVIDUAL FILE,then integrate the two themes and add konis transparent taskbar(took me a bit) then make it all boot. ive not had bootloop with neither of my mods so far on evo.had it all the time on cdma hero

I hope not cus thats version 1 or 2 and i didnt ul either of those betas. ill double check the link and upload my personal that i just flashed 8hrs ago. So far it performs well w/o configuring dconfig. im on 70% battery after heavy use.not sure if thats good or bad. Its acceptable to me, but not remarkable like damager.FYI
Had a lot of problems, lots pf FCs and random system restarts.....
i havent had any fc's yet. please list your procedure so i can see what the problem is. i test everything extensively before i put it up for others. that would be very bad if i put up roms before i got them working then told pps i support them...
By any chance have you had luck with flash in the browsers? I'm currently using your finisher rom but would love to switch to this one, however if the flash issues still stand I'll try a different one for the mean time. Looks great BTW.

wasnt sure if i was just crazy, but i posted this in my finisher thread as a bug i found 3days after running it. When i went use a site that needed full flash(shockwave) adobe test said my sware was 10.blablabla and that it installed correctly. well i used my site and tried to use a java music player and when it goes to play, browser dissappears (no fc just gone) It worked fine before, but i thought maybe i was mistaken. no one responded so i figured it was just a problem for me. I NEVER edited anything with the wlan-ko, the browser or anything internet releated, so i cant narrow down the problem. Also, this is a damage based so not sure whats going on with this issue. if i find anything ill definately pm you. if you hear anything ill ask you do the same. thanks.

did you flash the rom? if not please refer to ops. i am not a dev,instructor,or teacher. i am a tinkerer that ul's his roms so that anyone else like himself can have the same. I personally dont care if you ever read another word i type. cant really understand why you think your voice or opinion is SO valuable, or why you are any different from any of the other 20million haters out there. I cant see the "mod" title under your user name, so im pretty sure im completely safe in completely ignoring any outlandish,whiny requests you may have. I saw damages newest release yesturday, so i put this little mod together for myself so i could check it out. I can never just flash the plain rom anymore, w/o modding it first, so when im done i just take out the paid apps and then ul for others that may like it. pps were asking me for a green mod so this is what i did. Its damage, just skinned with a new rosie,htc weather clock,themed lockbar,status bar header,status bar bottom, and changed font to comfortaa. Yeah, i can do that, i used to hate the factory rosie but now i love it because i can do SO many things to it. To a mod freak like me, thats where its @. The other rosie is pretty basic. I like to replace it using my own shapes, but if you want it what color? my buddy drew wants it too. Colors are pretty limited to Black or a type of green between dark green and neon green. Lemme know. Glad you like it.

The easiest way to do that and the way i do, is to get ur setup perfect, then nandroid. Verify the nandroid. WIPE. Flash the new rom. Set it up to ur liking. Nandroid. REPEAT(this requires some space on sd and hd to backup).I wish it was that easy. If i could whip them up id have every color When i have some inspiration, ill be working on a blue next, if i have time maybe ill try and spit out two themes @ once. pm you when its/they are finished.
Like i explained in ops, i setup the whole rom so you get everything working the way its supposed to. Easier on everyone. If you dont like my work, just nandroid.You wont need it any time soon though

You can get it but on phone it is rather difficult to dl a 180mb file w/o corrupting the dl by slow data transfer speeds & combo of what type of sd you have it saving to. I can gurantee it works from pc and that is your best bet. I cant count the roms ive dl'd but never once have i dl'd with phone directly. I actually assume it would not complete and just waste my time. Sorry about that. If i knew another way id gladly share. If you have any other issues ill try my best to get you up and running.

Download and rename to .zip.
You can then open it with 7zip or winrar and peek inside.
NOTE: i have posted this in themes and here so that those that are/were not aware of how to utilize video on froyo would have better chances of seeing it or those that didnt want to check out froyo for the no vid or buggy cam issue. This is also a tut on how to get it working for you. I think this should be posted in dev and theme since it qualifies as both.

I began work on this and it is exclusive to a specific froyo rom atm. I am working on 2more things right now and i need some feedback towards what to add to this setup, and when i get enough changes/added mods and/or edits, i can then release another PUBLIC version in update.zip form. Its not just a skin though, this is what i did so that i could test a froyo rom. So this is the EXACT mod im running right now. I will be editing two more items shortly. congrats on the first froyo theme and thanks for the work...however, I don't think I'll be using this. Personally, it kinda hurts my eyes to look at. Again, that is just me personally, I'm sure plenty of people will love this ROM. Thanks for the work.
Good theme. I will have to agree with post #3. This theme is to robust for my style. The lock screen, the rosie theme and the font. Not my flava, but maybe someone else will enjoy it.

You obviously having theming skills, i mean you know how to manipulate stuff, you do good with the colors most of the time. i can't begin to do it. your choice of fonts are always horrible to me though. If you kept stock fonts i guarantee people would enjoy your stuff a lot more. your name looks ghetto on the launcher button also. Look at koni's stuff, thats good theming, and he doesnt put his name out in the open with some ghetto freestyle uneven font to be in your face 24/7. Tone it down some if you care to please others. If you dont, which you make clear in all of your theme threads, then leave it alone and only you will like it. I've never seen anybody rip in to themers like they do to you, i'm beginning to understand why, Waste of bandwidth.

If thats a bad thing im sorry. not a big % of pps like my theming,but the ones that do, really apppreciate it and encourage me to continue. If someone else made themes that i would be happy using, i wouldnt have ever started doing what i call theming.

If you have no idea how to do this than thats it. YOU HAVE NO IDEA whats involved so i cant expect you to begin to appreciate this form of art. FYI, case you didnt notice finisher is not my name but the name of a mod i created by myself and take great pride in. I am magnus if you didnt see my sig, i know its pretty hard to see. I provided 3 other options AS STATED IN THE OPS, there are also froyo 2.2 and one for baked as well. YOu should consider reading a bit more carefully before posting all willy nilly; EVERYTHING short of your opinion is completely unfounded and/or JUST wrong and shows that you lack the dedication to read ops for w/e reason. Also i am an artist that uses many mediums;this is just another. Art is obective,even controversial sometimes. Should picasso have quit because pps insulted his work and he himself for creating it? If you cared to read ops, rather than just come across as crass you may have helped me create something more appealing to yourself, cared to notice the 5 addl fonts i have on the same page as my rom dls, or took the time to read all the POSITIVE comments i have in my threads. thanks alot. its rough in this neck of the woods all sorts of trolls....yes atm; its actually worth nandroiding and checking out cus you dont lose your camcorder or cam and you get froyo and full flash is sick and internet speed is amazing. this is MY take on froyo, since i cant seem to leave a rom the way it is before i flash it. i was actually making this theme for hero over's froyo to be integrated with a froyo release but it was too much. for me i really cut back i thought but to him that was not enough. I tried to make something cool for baked but hey, we all benefit either way! so all is well I wouldve really liked to make it for baked froyo because i like baked roms but it kinda sucked that i spent all that time making it and sitting on it for 3days after i hurried up to get done, only to hear that it was not the right theme for the job. Oh well im not a themer anyway
Ill be starting work on a blue theme very soon though. Im sure anyone who likes my work will like the blue too.....i hope . What rom did you need it for?

way to much going on doesnt help me improve it. keep in mind you are judging my own personal rom, so i made it for myself and then shared it. then gave a few options of mainav scroller for those that cared to try it. how should i improve it to make it less? my style is different. if i was a minimalist my themes would look boring to me and i would not use it at all so i could not test it. sorry you dont like it. maybe next time
I finally got my computer working again, so I have some questions regarding rom cooking. Would I need permission to use ayOteddy's "Stock [email protected] Deo Rooted" as a base for my roms. And If I really wanna get into this, some recommendations for ideas even if I dont use them?
ALSO. Its well known that we do not really have a soft lanscape keyboard, no matter what keyboard used, right? Well that's wrong. Its been awhile since Ive used this keyboard, I used it on my old Optimus T actually, however, the keyboard known as "Hacker's Keyboard" has an option to always view the landscape keyboard even if a hardware keyboard input is present. Just thought you all would like to know that I figure my little discovery could be useful to you all ^_^ Welcome.
*** One more thing, does anyone know ways I can change the settings options and navigation + links? Like, the Theme Settings space for example?

I actually used KJ2 for TigerFusion without permission. I figured since ay0teddy retired long ago, he would not reply to my PM. I think as long as you give credit to him it should be fine.
I recommend using ASimmons Theme Injector if you want to port over a theme. Just remember that the Sidekick 4G uses hdpi. What I did for Froyo Iced Up was just change one letter in the apk.....the m in mdpi to h. If you don't do this, the result will be a brick. I had to use Odin to flash back to stock....lol.
And remember that the Bali kernel with keylogger removed will only work on KJ2. You can actually extract the zip and copy the contents from the kernel_flasher folder right into the update folder of your kitchen project.

Hats off to ayoteddy, sduvick, and krylon for the work they did. When all is said and done, those are really the people that pushed things forward and got the Sidekick 4g a couple useful 3rd party kernels.
As I recall, ayoteddy shared his stock deodexed rom so other people could have some fun cooking up their own custom. So, just credit him and move on. I don't think he'll be upset at all.
Make sure to also credit krylon and sduvick in anything you do. If you dig back into the forum, you'll see that they worked together.

That was way tricky. You need to add three pngs to the drawable-hdpi folder after you decompile the framework-res.apk.... reboot, reboot_ recovery and download. Then edit the strings.xml folder.... after that, it gets pretty hairy. I'll send you a pm with all the steps needed to configure the android.policy.jar file.

Dude...I just thought of something. Why don't you make a custom Key Lime Pie theme? Just use the various images found on the net for inspiration....maybe you can make a kind of CM theme based on yellow and green...just a thought!
As for TouchWiz....ugh...I personally hate it. Why not go with Go Launcher? It is a bit on the hefty side but is very theme-able!

That is a great idea not gonna draw conclusions yet, but the whole green color seems to look nice on the SK. And I used to love Go Launcher, but it became so chock-ful of ads and weird buying with credits and just....it became a bit too much I think? I might poke around and try to find an older version of ADW and just break the market link so it doesnt upgrade to the new one. Which by the way, I wanted to suggest in case Holo Launcher starts to get old for you, it looks alot like the ICS update, spare the icons. But with a theme installed its gotta be the best ICS launcher I've seen yet IMO anyway.

Well, I tryed to set up the EPM for Sidekick from scratch. No go, it's different than a lot of other devices it seems. Could anyone direct me with this a little? Please? It would be awesome because I really want to learn some while building this.

It is amazing how PDT and ayoteddy got all of this working. I tried editing the classes.dex file on my own, but it seems that the Sidekick 4G is a freak mutation of some sort.
I wound up taking a shortcut and used GenericGinger's android.policy.jar file. I edited the GlobalActions.smali file using Notepad ++ and added the reboot info from the public.xml located in the framework.
