Hmm I know there are like AdFree and DroidWall etc but I dont want to block ads.. I want to unblock blocked access to some sites

Thoughtful, but you can do this with a one-click free app.

I echo this & i've had unwanted billing by clicking inadvertently clicking on ad's (use perfectapplock & the the time lag in which ad comes up randomly varies in a crafty manner making user click ad by mistake). But tell me does not the ad killer app's what you mention above kill the ad's (in my case I am having issues of ad blocker not working with Rom Toolbox Pro)
try this

One of the better ad blockers in my opinion, even if it has the ugliest interface.

Was just reading thread on Adaway vs Adfree, Yes, I used to use this before I installed ROM Toolbox Pro by JRummy and currently communicating with devlp regarding non functioning of perapp ad blocker within the various apps. He is suggesting using a custom rom to see instead of stock rom. Tried reinstall, changing location of hosts, clear data, nothing worked.
Regarding LP, further to my question above I did read more about it and I rest my question. It goes a step ahead and kills wake locks apparently giving considerable battery boost.
Everybody does not have choice do with third-party aplication cause it will bring new ads to your mobile, there is one good choice if you can change policy security or you can hack your mobile like make ROM or ROTTED your mobile then change system be unread and unwrite or maake yourself firewall to erase all ads output.
I think google give their software without pay cause the ads are pay it with expansive price for development cost.
If i am wrong..... polize me cause i am newbie on android.

Blocked Websites

Hello.
My brother was given a tablet from his school. It comes with restrictions, so i'm trying to bypass them.
The main problem is about websites. I was able to root the tablet and delete the apks which were installed by the school but still there are some websites I cannot connect. Twitter, facebook, youtube etc. are blocked. I've checked the "20-dns.conf" file but there are no signs of restrictions there.
Any thoughts on from which file these website restrictions come from? It is in the system obviously, but it seems like i am not able to find it. I'd be grateful if you could help me.
Thanks.

Since you have rooted it.. and I guess you also have a Custom recovery, Try to flash a New rom if available.
There is no custom recovery or rom for the tablet unfortunately.

Are you sure your tablet block the site? Or your country?
Have you try app at play store, just search with tag"vpn unlimited", for example"surfeasy vpn for android" ...

I am sure it is the tablet. There is no block on my Android phone or on my pc. I am familiar with vpn apps but i don't want to use them since they really decrease your internet speed.

[Q] Saw a VPN server app on here/Play Store but can't find it?

In the past I've used an app that allowed me to set up a local VPN server on my Android phone and route all traffic through there. This app also allowed plugging in a blocklist (for ads). Because it was a VPN it worked without root and even allowed for blocking of app ads. However: I seem to have forgotten the name of this app! Is there a chance of one of the fine XDA members knowing the name of this app? I first read about it here, then downloaded it on the Play Store.
Here's to hoping you can help me,
Cheers,

I would not even want to guess how many VPN apps are posted on XDA.
Shouldn't need root for any VPN apps.
Try searching Android Apps and Games
or in chrome use: vpn site:forum.xda-developers.com
This thread will be moved to general/help
may be it removes for any violens of rule.
go to xda forum

Best adblocker for android is here, AdFree

So it's really limited out there on the android market and net to find a good adblocker app for android, well after using Adblock plus this didn't block all ads and caused my internet to go slow due to the app consuming data in the background. For years now I'm using Adfree , a small sized apk under 2mb, which customises ur host, doesn't consume internet, all u need is root. My nexus 5, nexus 7 and nexus 9 are all adfree, fast and safe from all those nasty popups and random tabs.
Here's the link, if u can donate to these guys, it will be appreciated. They've been running for years and update their hosts every week.

Another way of doing it is to transfer the hosts file from your adfree android to your pc in system/etc and run a dns server on the pc. Point your other computers and devices dns to
your dns server pc ip address and all ads are blocked.
Works for entire networks.
