from xdaII it have been automaticly supported
with xda1 you can read this
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WallabyCradleMod
but not all computers support charging using usb when they are off
bet most laptops dont
also charging using usb takes much longer then using DC because usb is only 500mAmp
Hi,
So I've been trying to get my NS to connect with my MBP. I'm not having any luck. When I connect the USB to my MBP nothing happens and on the NS I've read there should be a USB mode but it doesn't appear. I know its connecting because the NS does charge, but how do I go about transferring files?
Thanks
Works fine for me on my mbp. Plug in, and turn on USB storage through the pull down notification bar and you should see the drive on your desktop.

I've tried that, but when its connected nothing appears on the notification bar on the NS. I don't even see anything mounted on MBP. I can tell its connected because its charging but I can't connect.
Do you guys think it could be the USB cable itself? It allows for charging but it won't detect the storage device.
Its a possibility. Are you using the supplied USB cable? Ive had problems connecting my ipods before due to faulty USB cables.

I'm using a cable that I have for me LG phone. I bought the phone of Ebay, and never got the USB cable
Most likely USB cable.

Okay so I tried the cable with my old phone, it would only charge. Then I put in the SD card and it went into storage mode and showed up on MBP.
This is not happening with my NS. So I doubt its the cable.
Any other suggestions?
Try using different port on the MBP?
I would still try another USB cable. Not all USB cables are made equal. You would be surprised. Borrow a friends. Otherwise try factory clearing or going back to stock on your device if that applies.

Tried that already, and multiple computers.

I just bought an OEM cable from Ebay. Hopefully that will work. I also reset the phone, tried erasing USB mount no luck.
This isn't a big deal but I would really like to transfer some music from my iTunes.
Will the Desire HD car charger work for Inspire as well?

Thanks
Consider they're basically identical phones yes, it will work. Just about any micro USB charger will work.
Thanks....
I bought this because of the extra USB port.

There is also this one.

A little off topic but similar,
So will any kind of micro usb work as a charger, am thinking of using my cable from my external hard drive as a charger for the phone when at work, so can just charge via my laptop
it shoyld work without a problem right?

Just wondering. You still need an OTG cable to connect camera/drive/other, right?

Yes, you can't get around physical wiring differences.
USB cable for xoom
Surely you can use the USB cable that came with the xoom and attach a female to female adpator and run your camera cable from that. You dont really need to buy a specific OTG cable. Well I think that would work.
Nope is doesn't you need a otg cable. I tried it myself a few months ago, ended up buying 3 cables to get that worked.

The wire that comes with your Xoom is wired differently than an OTG cable. The Xoom wire is a client wire. The OTG is a host.
But with 3.1 + an OTG cable, can you use the USB Host function without this hack :http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/15979-hack-enable-usb-host-mode-ie-thumb-drives-on-the-xoom/ ?
You just plug your OTG cable and it works ?
It seems there is still no way for a stock user to use a USB stick via the OTG cable because there is no app that recognizes it that way, Android still requires root to access the file system or both.

Hey guys,
I've been curious, if it's possible to use a slimport adapter and connect it to a display AND have something else connected via the additional charging USB Port.
Such as playing a movie right from a stick with the nexus 5 or a USB keyboard connected at the same time via USB Hub.
Or is there any other option to realise something like this?

This was the first thing I did when I got my adapter. The port is only for charging sadly...
If keyboard/mouse is all you need, you can always get a bluetooth one. If you need OTG for other stuff though, you'd have to use a wireless mirracast adapter instead of slimport.
