Taskbar Menu - Samsung Galaxy S (4G Model)

Can someone show me how I can personally change my top taskbar menu (if it's possible) and where can I find the themes for it?
Thanks.

It all depends what you're actually trying to do?
Just change a color? Change the pull down background? Add quickpanel toggles?

I flashed my phone back to stock rom and I just wanted the taskbar to look like the octane rom that I was running on before.

You can try pulling the framework-res.apk and systemui.apk from octane and replacing them in the appropriate spots in your current ROM as long as the rom you are on is deodexed. But it may,not work. Or, you can replace the .png files using 7zip and then replace those files with your new themed ones (less chance of fc or bootloop). But the second method is a bit more detailed.

Bionix Theme "Nuke Green"

Ok im getting pretty good at editing frameworks and finally got a working theme for bionix!!! I think it looks pretty good, it gives Bionix Frost a cooler look!!! but let me know what you guys think. The pics will be posted in a minute.
Stuff Ive Themed So Far:
Nuke Green Status Bar
Themed Drop Down Menu w/New Icons,Transparent Background and Custom Galaxy Tab!!
Download and Slider Bars are Themed
Pop Up Menus Glow
Usb icons Are Changed
Lockscreen Themed
Like everybody else says im not responsible for bricks!! I have had this theme all day testing with no problems but this is just version 1 ill be adding more to the theme as i go. Also note i had a force close of titanium backup right after pushing the files not sure why just rebooted and never had a problem again and yes titanium back still works perfect i checked.
Just unzip and push both files to system/framework then reboot.
Heres the pics enjoy
Looks good. Look in res/layout/status_bar_expanded.XML to find the lines for the white background on your notification pulldown. ;-)

you have to decompile framework-res.apk in order to convert the xml's from binary to text, then recompile once done.
the drop down menu runs from twframework-res.apk and framework-res.apk. i don't know which changes it so i always cook the status bars the same in both files. i think if u try again u should get in done in uot kitchen.

Ok krylon i decompiled it with apk by putting the framework-res.apk in the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder then hitting decompile then it decompiled it to the projects folder then i changed the status_bar_expanded but how do i compile it back?? apk ask me for a project number and the only one that shows up is the original apk??? Also i added a pic below let me know if i changed the right thing. I circled the color code that changed it to black #0000 it was originally #FF000 wich i think is white right?? thanks for helping this noob out

[Q] Green Gingerbread icons

I have successfully used the UOT Kitchen to modify the icons and fonts, etc. but I now want to add the "green if connected to Google" icons which I didn't see in the kitchen.
Can someone explain how this can be done? Can I just modify the framework-res.apk or is this another kind of tweak or fix??
Thanks
PS: I can't see any themes around anymore that offer this (I am on WB v5 + DL custom kernel at the moment)
If you are on stock rom you can use Achotjan flashable zip in android development section (i can't post here the link cause i'm on mobile but you can easily find it watching on achotjan threads on his profile)..otherwise if you are on a different rom..you can copy and replace icon.png images from achotjan framework to your! good luck

I am looking for JUST that part only.

Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I would like to be able to do it myself as I already have a customised framework and systemUI.apk.
If someone could explain the process that would be great.
you just need to replace the correct icons in the framework-res.apk and systemui.apk then replace them on your phone.
The way i did it was copy .apk file to computer, change extension to .rar, open it in winrar (not extract), extract the hdpi-drawable folder then replace icons, copy that hdpi-drawable folder with the new icons back into winrar and it will ask you to repack the .rar, after that change the extension back to .apk and copy it to the correct folder. The framework-res.apk one is ok to copy back but if you do the systemui.apk one you will get endless fc until you can restart your phone so i think you have to install it through flashtool?
I think that you have to replace the images without extract the entire apk otherwise you need to resign it when you finish! Anyway..framework is not involved..wifi and signal icons are sustemUI related only..i will upload it in few hours..then you can watch inside for the green icons and do it yourself! Pay attention..cause if you do something wrong probably the phone won't boot up or gives fc!
Cheers

Thanks for the file. I am able to change the icons using the kitchen, but I need to understand how just replacing the icons gets them to change colour when connected to Google?? Is the code already there and the icons are all the same colour so we just don't see it with the stock icons?
I have made other changes to my SystemUI so I don't want to lose those changes - that's why I want to be able to change my own files.
Is it really just a case of changing the icons to get the desired effect? Is it some specific icons that are needed, or any icons? *still confused*

Mate..open the file that i post..inside you can find systemUI.apk..opne it with winrar and extract drawable-hdpi folder to your desktop..you will see all your icons..the images named "....fully.png" are colored green!! You must replace your current icon in your custom SystemUi with this ones!! Is it more clear now?

do you mean how the data icon and the signal bars change from green to white/grey?? cause if so then yes just changing the .pngs will be fine cause i did it with my own systemui/framework.

i guess not i read a bunch about just getting the theme chooser.apk and uploading that and it is supposed to add an apk to the zip it gives u to download
1. Go to the Kitchen page
2. Browse through the available mods and choose what you want (don't forget to press Generate preview if there is such a button)
3. Go to the file upload section and upload the required files, or choose the ROM you use from the kitchen's list (most roms in the list are for HTC Desire)
Files you need to upload:
Froyo rom: framework-res.apk
Gingerbread rom: framework-res.apk and SystemUI.apk
Gingerbread with sense rom: framework-res.apk, SystemUI.apk and com.htc.resources.apk
Cyanogenmod7 rom: Cyanbread.apk or Androidian.apk or any theme for ThemeChooser (rename as you like it to apear in theme menu)<----thats what im using
NOTE 1: if you’re uploading theme apk then do not upload any other files; you’re just wasting traffic, because the kitchen will ignore additional files
NOTE 2: Font packs and boot animation do not require files to be uploaded. If you choose only those mods then you get a download without a queue.
4. Go to the summary section. All chosen mods must have a green background. If there is a mod in red background it means you didn’t finish it.
Press Submit work to kitchen
5. Remember the UOT file name (your order number).
6. Go to the Pickup page and wait for your file to appear (it can take from 5min to 1hr or more)
7. Download UOT zip into SD card of your phone
8. Reboot into recovery
9. Wipe cache and dalvik-cache (just in case). Do not wipe data / factory reset.
10. Flash UOT zip
11. Reboot phone

Hey Kwes - I have not tried UOT with New Clip because you mentioned themes may break things. Does that also apply to UOT? I wanted to change the color of all the items on the status bar to the hex ICS color. Should that be OK if I do not change anything else?
Or is there a better way to do that?

As long as you use the systemui and framework-res from the rom it shouldn't break anything. But some sketchy edits I made in framework as work a rounds might not let you edit it with uot but you can always try. I'm gonna update soon if I can just get these lock screens right.

Thanks. I will give it a try tonight or tomorrow. I want to make a set of all gingerbread green status bar icons and a set of all ICS blue status bar icons. If it works I will send them to you and you could add them to New Clip (if you want to) as an option for people that want everything matching, but do not want a complete makeover theme.
I just think it looks nice when the battery, clock, signal, wifi, etc match in color. Fond of ICS blue right now. I think I know how to repack it so anyone can use it. I'll PM you later if I get it done.
Edit: Well...that was a disaster. I just changed the status bar icons and added a different battery. Result was a boot loop twice and then a black screen requiring a battery pull. Restored my back up and will give it another try. Maybe a bad file download?

An all new update is just around the corner. Kwes1020 has some magic he is holding back until its right. Old weapon 3.0 works fine with UOT. I am not a real theme guy. I answer easy questions for noobs and piggyback off the hard work of others, but always give credit and thanks to the real guys. If the update does not happen as expected, I will take another stab at it.
I love learning new things and android has become an addiction. If you want to try, read up on topic. Tons of good info out there. UOT is simple to use. The trick is making the zip you create compatable with every one else. There is a mini tutorial in the moonman thread.

You want to get the apks from the zip file you flashed for the rom. In system/framework you will need framework-res, criskelo-res or lidroid-res depending which one is there and twframework-res. From system/app you will need axt9ime, mms, contacts, jobmanager and systemui. Either replace the files in the zip for the theme with these and flash or copy and paste them in your system with a root explorer, if going to do that do app folder then framework and will need to hold power down to reset the phone after framework is copied because it will lock up the phone. Worst case you can just reflash the rom without wipe.

currently the orange gradient bar is 3/4 way down on the screen, and not at the bottom. other than that, it is totally awesome
thanks!
Nice job - Look's great
Working on updating this to lrq as well as the other themes I have. Don't plan on supporting a different dpi as I don't use a different dpi sorry. As for the hex code I have done most of the xmls already but will look into changing to the code suggested when get another chance. And for the drop down curtain I wanted to make it that way for something different so the black faded into the orange

Black status bar for sense 4+

Ok, that was easy.
This worked for me. First im on JB_by_luxandroid_v2 (one s s3). I copied the systemUI.apk to my pc. Added .zip to the file and unzipped it. Searched for status_bar_background.9.png and used gimp to make these all black. Rezipped all the files to systemui.apk and copied back /system/apps using twrp file manager. Restart and all black status bar.

Flashable zip thanks to luxandroid (will also add black boot animation)
http://dl.xda-developers.com/attach.../1/7/0/0/7/5/4/Flashable_black_status_bar.zip
This worked for me. All the tutorials out there say you need to decompile, modify and compile the systemui.apk. I did not have to nor do I know why it worked the easy way. So this might not work for you and might frak up your install (do a backup before trying).
If anyone wants to make a flashable zip or make this compatible with other roms, be my guest. I dont have the knowlege to develop this any further

Hi, I'm using nova launcher with trickdroid 5 s3. HTC status bar annoys me. Would like to get it all black. Would appreciate any help with getting it. The option was before in the tweak packade but that isn't available anymore. Is there a zip to flash?
Thanks in advance.

I did not encounter any zip to flash, but you could try decompiling systemUI by yourself, which I was too lazy for, so I flashed Pacman ROM.
However, you can download ICS Status Bar or Jelly Bean Status Bar by Team Syndicate, they overlay the Sense one with a AOSP one.
Tried the overlay from play store already. Would work fine on ics. Problem with jelly bean is whn you pull down the notifications status bar goes away, but the overlay does not. So that cuts away half of the clock and settings button.
Dont want to have to go back to ics

Just plain flat black.... i love it... the closest ive gotten is setting status bar transparency on home all the way in Viper ROM, either one 1.2.1 or 2.0.0, and having a black bg... But only good on home...
EDIT: I would love to remove the beveled look of the status bar....

I managed to decompile the SystemUI.apk couldnot find the obvious status bar file to modify to black, I assume there are several. Someone know witch png files need to be modified to get an all black status bar?
I have done this a long time ago on HTC touch but it seemd easier back then
been googling for hours, but cannot find clear tutorials on how to edit status bar pngs
ok think I found it. should be status_bar_background.9.png
lets see if I can get this to work with my limited knowlege
I found another way. Probably you saw that you can apply some themes in the "customize" app from HTC. Well, the devs of Virtuous ROM made some more themes for that theme chooser, including a holo-like one with a black status bar!

This worked for me. All the tutorials out there say you need to decompile, modify and compile the systemui.apk. I did not have to nor do I know why it worked the easy way. So this might not work for you and might F up your install (do a backup before trying)l
If anyone wants to make a flashable zip or make this compatible with other roms, be my guest. I dont have the knowlege to develop this any further

It is actually an app with a link to it in settings. However, here is a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1853013. Have fun with them!
