No ext4? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

Good afternoon all...
Everytime I do a wipe delvik, I get an error saying
That there is no ext4 partition on my sd card....
Should I wipe it and creat an ext4 partition?

No, it's saying there's no Ext4 to Wipe. That's why you get that error. Honestly I didn't know the newer Clockworks could do Ext4.

Thank you for the quick response!
I can't remember the exact terminology but I am using revolutionary 4.0.0.9 and when I hit the wipe delvik option, while navigating to the directory, I see an error at the bottom that says something along the lines of "error locating....[ext4]"...
Or something along those lines...
But it does wipe delvik.

The real A2SD isn't available for our devices yet. I tried flashing DT's script and it didn't work.

It OK just ignore it I'm getting the same problem to. It did go away for awhile but it came back when I tried the GB leak and after I reverted back to bionix with ext4 and the error came back. Trust me your phone is fine.

your partitions are messed up. you will need a pit file to fix this.
Yeah I lost the three button trick to get to cwm once I flashed the Gingerbread ROM and reverted back to KD1. the only thing we still have is Download mode. and the mounting errors I got in cwm althought they are not a big deal I just didn't wanna see them there anymore so I flashed the update.zip for cwm again. I rebooted the recovery after that and I no longer have those red letter in the recovery page.
Ill follow your.suggestions guys. I also cannot mount cache with cam though other mounts work fine. Is this apart of the same problem?

If you have terminal emulator open it an type these two commands
SU <enter>
Mount <enter>
This will bring up alot of text but if you will read a little at the top it will tell you what mounts are what(ext4 or rfs) notice my system and data are ext4 but my cache is rfs that is the reason you see the error, give it time and a couple cache wipes in cwm and it should go away. On my last cwm session is when I formatted my cache and it went back to rfs as you can also see in the pic. So when your cache is ext4 you will receive this error till your cache returns to normal

Damn it looks like you have no cache. Try re-odining and if that doesn't help then you will have to do what chadster suggested and grab the pit for flashing kd1. BEFORE YOU DO THAT THOUGH HAVE YOU TRIED MOUNTING THE CACHE AND REBOOTING.(REMEMBER MOUNT MEANS UNMOUNT AND VICE VERSA)

If you look in the sgs4g bible there is a .pit there but you might want to pm a more knowledgeable person than me(like dsexton702 or mad_fitter)because I haven't had to use a pit. Just pm them and tell them your situation and I'm sure they will help you. Hope you get things going again and sorry I couldn't be of more assistance.

[Q] Full wipe before flashing backups?

Do I need to format / wipe anything in the CWM screen before restoring a flashed backup?
This is my personal procedure evertime I install a new rom, or revert to a saved backup. I am a noob, so I don't know if it's necessary, but I do it by habit now, and it seems to work for me.
1.wipe dalvik (in advanced menu)
2.wipe cache
3.wipe data/factory reset x 2
4.wipe system (in mounts and storage menu) x 2
5.(optional) wipe dalvik,wipe cache
6. Install zip or backup depending on what my intention is
7. fix permissions
reboot
edit: Actually, this isn't "MY PERSONAL" procedure...this is what was recommended to me from other valued members of this forum. I have simply adopted it into my routine.
That's a whole lotta wiping... wont hurt anything but very redundant.

It depends on what the backup is. If the backup is just an older version of the same rom I will just flash right over sometimes. If you are trying to restore a gb rom over a froyo, you will have to wipe first. Any time you are in doubt, just wipe.

I get the same path error to sd-ext. I've wondered what sd-ext even is, there is nothing in it and it is not my external or internal memory because they are in different directories.

CWM not working?

OK! Im kind of confused. Rooted then flashed cwm, I flashed Smooth Maximus ROM Gingerclone onto the phone through cwm and now i cant get into it at all. When i boot to recovery i get the stock recovery, ive tried though quickboot, button combo, and rom manager and i get the same thing everytime. Any help would be appreciated. CWM 4.0.0.2
Don't use ROM Manager. It has the wrong CWM version. Use the instructions in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124453
I'm not entirely sure that'll work if you've already flashed a ROM, so wait for an actual dev to chime in.
heres what i did when i couldnt get it to work
make sure ur rooted
download this
http://www.krylon360.com/file_host/sk4g/update.zip
extract the update.zip and ur gonna look for a file called recovery.bin
and get ahold of root explorer
place the recovery.bin on ur sd card and remember where its at
go into root explorer and find it and long press it and hit copy then go into the phone using root explorer and go into /system/bin and paste it dont delete anything or move files just overwrite it
then download this
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/12704578/sk4...eclickroot.zip
and unzip it on your computer make sure u unzip it if not it wont work
and double click run.bat and let it do its thing and itll reboot into CWM for you and go into install packages or something and voila
make sure you have usb debugging enabled
and id flash
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1128657
this kernel then reflash your rom making sure to wipe it
this method working after countless hours of errors etc report back
second link 404'd
welp i pushed the update binary file in that first link then booted to recovery from quickboot and it booted into cwm. Thanks guys for the help
Ok nvm I can boot to cwm but I can't do anything with it. I just get errors. I'm really confused.

there should be alot more under mounts and storage and the install zip should have 4 options in it!

What's the difference between flashing a completely new ROM and...

installing an updated version of an older ROM. Is the process any different?
Do I simply install from SD Card using the .zip?
When coming from the same ROM just updating. You can just wipe cache and dalvik then install zip. It will keep everything safe.
When installing a new ROM you have to wipe data and everything. Format system. Essentially everything.

Can you update your recovery before trying to wipe ?
Unsure if that is possible, but if you can find a new recovery .zip, maybe you can flash it and then see if the wipe works

Yup, I tried to wipe using TWRP but I always get the error message of that file that cannot be deleted. I also tried the wiping option into coldboot but it doesn't helped either because the /data dir is not wiped...
I had the same problem what I did to resolve it was i formatted my internal storage via TWRP and tried to load the ROM and it booted fine.
