[Q] [SOLVED] DEFECTIVE PHONE are you having line out issues and blue photo? - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

I really do not one to create two threads on this...
issue 1
while charging (tested 2 chargers so far) I get feedback over the speakers when using the line out. we have tried 5 devices through the same set up and the skyrocket is the only one with this feedback
http://youtu.be/P-XmzjoMN4g
issue 2
a number of our photos turn out blue, some others have an odd bright line

Your first issue is a common complaint for all smartphones. They put out so much EMF noise that cheaply made speakers tend to crackle when they are near. Only solutions are speakers with better shielding or keeping the phone away. Sometimes a separation of 3-5 feet is enough.
Issue 2 is just weird. I don't know what to tell you except that it is probably not related to one. Do all your pictures turn out like that or just some?

Thanks for the reply...but out of 5 android devices...this is the only one that does this in the same vehicle/same cables (Harmon kardon sound system)
That is the odd thing about the pics.. it isn't all of them. I would say 1 in 20

check your finger placement, it may be guiding the LED flash away from 1 side of the image, and towards the other (at least on pic #2)

Phone was defective. So far none of the above issues are present on my new replacement.

G2X speaker problem - Fixed

I picked up a *new* used g2x about a week ago. The guy had hardly used it all. It is in brand new condition. It works great, but one thing that was driving me absolutely crazy was the crappy sound of any ringtone I played. Tons of distortion, awful sound, and low volume.
I decided to crack open the phone using the service guide to see if the speaker was damaged. It was super easy by the way.
As soon as I took the part out I could immediately see the problem. There was an extra screw inside that was stuck to the speaker! It must have been in there from the factory because every screw was in it's place, expect of course this one!
I removed the screw very carefully using some tweezers, because it was stuck to the magnet of the speaker, and put everything back together. Of course it made a HUGE difference! I can actually hear my phone ring and the god-awful distortion was gone!
I have seen some complaints around regarding the sound of this phone. It's maybe worth a quick check if your sound sucks! It's super easy to do and took me about 3 minutes total. This makes me wonder if it could have happened to someone else's phone.
Here's a pic of the little punk!

One of my speakers are a lot louder then the other one I don't want to open it up main reason don't wanna risk messing it up second I don't have a manual or anything that shows how. My sounds still fine but I think it can be a lot louder if that one puts out more sound. Any ideas other then opening it up?
EDIT: just decided to look this up now after about 15 seconds of Googling found there's only one speaker on the lg optimus 2x and g2x the left one is a mic xD

Yep it's just one speaker. Kinda funny though how there are so many arguments about that online! Especially when it's so easy to look at the actual thing.
It's super easy to take off though. All you need to do is turn the phone off, remove the battery, and then take out the three screws on that bottom piece on the phone. Then that piece just pops right out.
Sucks that there's only one speaker. -_- I also don't get why there isn't a 2nd mic for noise cancellation.

Dead pixel/dust under the screen??

Im still awaiting a case/protection for my nexus 5, and until i have some protection for it its not yet my main phone, however ive been using it at home, and ive just noticed a mark under the screen, which could be a dead pixel or dust

outlined in red ( phots not that great but you can see the mark that doesn't move regardless of whats on screen) - highly irritating now i know its there, my eyes are drawn to it. would this be a RMA job?
Yeah, its kind of tough when it's near the middle of the screen like that. It really depends on how much it bothers you. Mine just came in the mail an hour ago and after playing around a little, noticed 1 small dead pixel on bottom right of screen. It's kind of gray, not black. But I'm not really noticing it, I have to really look for it and even then it's hard to see. My phone is otherwise perfect - no vibration issues, power button is solid, etc. I think I'll just keep it.

Yeah I would rma it. That would do definitely bother me.

I have a speck of something in almost exactly the same place. RMA won't be shipped until December 3. Hope the replacement doesn't have this issue.

its a dead pixel, mate
Its dead pixels. I had two of this massive dead pixels on my iphone 5 and the apple genius guys replaced it with a new one.
You should definately RMA it and get it replaced. I was planning to buy a nexus 5 myself but have been getting negative feedback on the speaker quality and the dead pixels issue hence I think I will either wait for the LG G2 Mini or something else.

Front Facing Camera

I have replaced a broken screen on a Nexus 5 that I have purchased, and it's fine apart from a very noisy/grainy front facing camera. Is this normal? Or do I need to re-attach camera again or replace it? I am running stock firmware (lollipop)
Any help on this would be appreciated!
Thanks :good:
Bump....
Mind to upload an example?
who replaced your screen btw?
Yes I will take a screenshot and upload. I replaced the screen
Sounds like the camera, or back of screen may be grubby, but as above says screenshot plse

Here is a comparison......between image quality.....hopefully you can see the grainyness.

Well it's not grubby on the screen, it's noisy across the whole image, so it makes me think its an electronic issue rather than visual.
TBH I blew them up to full size and it looks OK. Noise as you know shows more in low light. If it was not an OEM replacement could be poor glass. Try another camera app to see if it's software. I'd go with poor glass, which you are stuck with. Where did you get it?

That is the stock camera app, haven't got anything else installed on it at the moment. I bought it from seller on aliexpress.
So you think it's the glass rather than a camera issue?
Thanks
Yes. You changed it and this happens. I meant try another camera app, but I'd say 99.99% it's the glass
Sent from my Nexus 5
Thanks for that. Well that's pretty frustrating, I guess I will have to live with it, I'm tempted to take it apart and see how it is without the glass.

Screen issue

Last night while using my phone in the dark, the brightness set down low, I noticed on sites that were darker themed that there is an odd anomaly in my screen. There is a line (that reminds me of a hair, maybe an eyelash) that only shows when the brightness is low. I was able to take a picture of it with my girlfriends G3, though it's much more noticeable when you're using the phone, as it's stationary when you scroll.

This is my first Super AMOLED screen in a while, but I don't remember anything like this before.
If it truly bothers you i'd see if your carrier will exchange it for you. I had a notification light go out and tmobile exchanged it forb $5. You'Lloyd get a refurbished device, but eliminate this issue.

Just exchange. Next time look at the one you are getting in the store more carefully.

You realize the lights are so bright in store something like this would never show up, right?
Actually, those spots are not considered a defect in Samsung's eyes. The spots are the nature of producing amoled screens. My old PSVita(3g wifi) model are riddled with these ink spots that are only visible on a black background in a very dark environment. Also my s3 and s4 had them. Not all of them has these spots and some are more prevalent than others. It's just the luck of the draw when it comes to this matter.

The Good & Bad - With iOttie Easy One Touch 2 (Car Mount)

I love this mount... suction holds to dashboard or window like crazy... good build/quality... fits my Nexus 6P... true one-hand operation (in and out)...
But (there's always one... and I got two):
The major issue... the side grips sit on the volume button... and once in a while, they would silence my device w/o me noticing
The telescopic arm, when fully extended (which is why I bought it), makes the whole thing less stable (maybe with a lighter phone it will be less of an issue). This is not a huge deal, but an FYI.
Should you buy it? I still think it's a good option... and to avoid #1 above, you could place the device a bit higher in the cradle (so it doesn't touch the volume button). It works, but makes it a bit unstable.

I had the same problems as well. The new version seems to have fixed all the problems with the Nexus 6P and in general.
I got an email from them yesterday and they're currently having a 30% off sale on Amazon.
The promo code is UPGRADE3.

I don't see how it solves the problem. The side arms seems to be located in a place still "squeezing" the volume rocker.

The side arms on the newer version are lower on the phone now. You can adjust the bottom arm vertically to adjust the height.
This video shows that the 6P is compatible with the new Mount. I have no problems with the new version. The telescoping is about 1 inch shorter so if that's an important feature for you then the new version isn't for you.
I've posted it before several times, the One Touch 2 is easy to use if you just tilt it a little bit with your phone tilted the opposite way your buttons won't be squished. Even better, I got the one touch 3 last week and it completely avoids the buttons whatsoever. Really the best holder that they've made yet but the old arm from the two series was better and longer.
I have one of their other ones and it clips on the side but with my Supcase, it doesn't affect it.
I like their holder. Very strong and I've had it on for over a year (dirty suction cup) without any issues. I might pick up the new one because it extends and it looks to be a better fit for my truck.

This is awesome. Thank you for sharing that there is a 3rd generation mount.
