Could some bright spark tell me why it is that your phone number only seems to show up if you are running a stock rom. Ever since rooting and installing a custom rom when I go to phone>settings>about phone my phone number does not show up??
I used this app to edit the phone number on my previous phone, although I've just tried to install it and I get an error.

Thanks UKseagull
Installed on my sensation XE (SenSEay Rom) worked a treat
It won't install for me, I still get an unknown error code message.
My phone number shows as 'unknown'.
Maybe it needs root. On the market there are mixed results.
What is that tablet in your sig??
It's a GT-P7510 Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Wifi.

Hi everyone,
It seems like I received a really weird version of the Nexus S.
I ordered a Nexus S along with a new plan from Mobilicity a few days ago. When I went today to pick up the phone, the salesman opened the box and turned it on to set something up and show me how to use it.
What I immediately noticed was that the loading screen has the unlocked padlock. It also skipped the Google account sync/log-in screen when you start the phone for the first time. Instead, it went straight to the homescreen which had a red x through the Android logo in the wallpaper, with the message "* WARNING!!! S/W is not completely Installed. DOWNLOAD Full S/W Before Release"
The salesman grabbed another Nexus S but it suffered the same problem. He proceeded to "fix" the phone, which was just changing the wallpaper. (I have since restored to factory default so I can get the "warning" wallpaper again.)
I tried to sync with Google through Settings -> Account & Sync, but I get no option to choose Google, Facebook, or anything and it takes me straight to the Exchange sync screen. I can, however, use the generic email app with my gmail perfectly fine.
There are also many apps missing, most notably the Android Market. There are some weird test apps, though. LbsTestMod seems to be some sort of GPS/location testing app, and Touch noise test seems to test the touchscreen (no idea how to work them)
In the About phone screen, this is what I see
Model number: Full Android on Crespo
Android version: 2.4
Baseband version: I9020XXKD1
Kernel version: 2.6.35.7 (there's more in this section in the picture but I can't type it out because I can't post links)
Build number: full_crespo-eng 2.4 GINGERBREAD 563 test-keys
My question is, what should I do with it? This is my first android, so I have no idea what I've got here. I'd like to keep it if possible but I also need a phone that actually syncs with my Google account. Should I root it? or return it again and hope that I don't get another phone with the same problem?
I can take more pictures if anyone needs it.

A friend has the null IMEI issue and I want to try the procedure outlined for the Samsung Captivate in the following thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881162
Samsung Captivate Android Development - > RESTORE IMEI and Product Code w/o ADB, PC (ALL DONE ON PHONE) nv_data.bin
I don't think the product code used for the captivate will work with the nexus S. Can someone tell me the product code to use when editing the following lines in nv_data.bin? (copied from the above thread!)
00188008|2e|34|00|00|00|00|ff|41|.4....A
00188010|54|54|00|00|00|00|53|47|TT....SG
00188018|48|2d|49|38|39|37|5a|4b|H-I897ZK
00188020|41|41|54|54|00|00|00|00|AATT....
Sorry if this has already been conclusively shown as not possible for nexus S. Some people on the captivate thread have managed to restore it using this method and I thought it would be worth a shot.
The nexus S in question is the SLCD version i9023.
Given below are the steps that caused the issue.
==============================================
Some days ago, official ICS for Nexus S was released, but my cell couldn;t auto update because it was running a custom ROM. I tried to follow this procedure to switch to 2.3.3 or .4. (http://www.pcworld.com/article/242759/how_to_revert_your_android_smartphone_to_a_stock_rom.html )
Installing the above ROM, my cell went berserk. The ROM booted fine but 3 of my touch buttons wouldn't light up and keyboard input alignment was all wrong and I had to remove battery and restart it every time I wanted to go back into some other setting.
After 9-10 restarts, I managed to reach the update setting, downloaded Gingerbread 2.3.6 OTA and installed it. It worked perfectly, and I was all set to download ICS and install it. Then I followed this link and installed ICS reaching where I am at the moment. (http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/manually-install-android-4-0-3-ics-update-on-nexus-s-download/)
This ICS works perfectly fine, except that the phone is not receiving any network signals whatsoever.
I had made Oxygen's backup using CWM's backup feature on the cellphone and I thought I'd restore it, so I did a vol up + power, and selected recover. The cell restarted, showed a dead android, and booted into ICS. Several attempts have resulted in the same.

Hi Everyone:
I got a Samsung S4(GT-I9505) a few days, rooted it and put up cyanogenmod by using the cyanogenmod installer. It installed v 10.2 snapshot.
However today morning, I couldnt access the internet with my phone (over 3G/LTE). Wifi works fine. I get the 3G/ LTE icon in the status bar, but they are grayed out (as opposed to being blue). I tried installing another cyanogen mod version, but it didnt help either.
I am thinking something might be wrong with the hardware. So I might have to return it , but I will need to unroot my device and put up samsung firmware on it. I needed some help with this:
1. How can I find firmware that will work on my phone? My model number is GT-I9505, the cyanogen mod is running baseband I9505XXUEMK8 - how can i determine if this is correct baseband?
2. When I tried running the triangle remove app to unroot the device, I again had problems - at the point where the phone is supposed to re boot into download mode, it just starts up normally - is this because I am running cyanogen and I need stock for triangle remove to work?
Thank you so much for any help!

Hi Everyone,
I come to you for a bit of help. I have spent a long time trying to fix this and come for help from you guys.
So I got a little bored with standard Samsung Android on my Note 2 (GT-N7100). Having used Cyanogen before, I decided to try it on the note.
I rooted the device and installed CWM on it no problems. I then loaded CM from a micro usb.
On reboot it just gets what i'd call the "Spinning blue screen of death" where it just has the big blue circle going round until it runs out of battery. After some research I used CWM to clean out the caches etc but it still didn't appear to work. This was using the stable version for my Note 2. I then went on to try other versions and got the same issues. Alas, trying to do a restore didn't work either, as it didn't seem to have all the files.
At this point I am happy to go back to stock Android or indeed CM. I'd just like a phone that works!
My device details:
Model GT-N7100
SSN: -N7100GSMH
Network Provider Virgin UK
Any help appreciated.
As in the title states I have the galaxy tab 2 7.0 and recently I installed CWM and a ROM and everything looked like it went right however after I reloaded my tablet nothing seems different it jus seems to return to stock setting and now I cant do the OTA software update which means now certain apps and games I can no longer uses as it says my device isnt compatible. My goal was to simple update from Jellybean to at Least Kitkat.
Can someone help me. where did I go wrong?

Well after a short research I found a ROM called Resurrection Remix, loaded with 5.0.2 (or Lollipop) however now everything is force closing and I barely got my laptop to see it as MTP again after installing a new Binary (glad that did that trick for that) but I cant get it to boot into CWM Recovery bc I cant access the app the only thing it will let me do right now is change the Binary.
How can I fix this issue?
Edit: Okay so I got that solved with doing a factory reset twice, booted in CWM, loaded up the GApps. Now just wondering if there is away to make it not seen with phone options like the dialer or msgs as its jus a plan old tablet, doesnt take a sim card and has no carrier. I do have the source code but I am not tweaking that til I get a better understanding of it.
After a lot of research and tries (amazingly without bricking) I am now running an even newer version of a CM 13 Marshmellow
