i recently did a nandroid switching roms, now im left with no contacts on my new rom. i tried syncing my contacts from gmail but i used to always save them to my ohone, not in gmail. so is there a way i can restore them from a nandroid? what file contains my contacts from a nandroid..? and how to restore them?
much appreciated.
Restore nandroid, sync contacts with Google, return to previous rom.
or just backup contacts to SIM card then import them to phone

I have some general questions about how best to backup data across Sense and non-Sense based ROMS.
I'm using MIUI now and it took some doing to get my contacts up to where it was because it doesn't use Sense contacts. Do you guys just stick to Gmail contacts? I also tried copying all my contacts to my gmail account but then it wouldn't sync with Gmail because Sense apparently stores XML somewhere in the contact data which was causing errors during the sync process.
Secondly, is it possible for me to make a full backup so if anything doesn't work I can reboot into recovery and restore? I'm not sure if this is related but what is a nandroid backup?
I would copy all contacts to the SIM card, then just import them after a rom installation.
And yes, you can make a backup in TWRP recovery and then just restore it later if you want.

Doesn't the SIM have a limit and can it store all the different fields and so on?
I just installed JellyTime CM10.1 on my Desire S.
But when i go to contacts i cant see my Sim contacts.
Also when i try import/export from sim he says there are no contacts on sim.
Is there a solution for this problem?
Thx.
I would restore to the previous rom and backup all contacts with Super Backup and restore/flash back to JellyTime and restore contacts with the app again
There is no way to just import without a backup and restore?
Hi,
I installed CM on my phone and did a backup and restore through the CWM, but it seems all my contacts that were stored locally on my phone have been deleted. Is it possible to get them back?
Thanks!
I flashed CM 11 on my samsung grand but forgot to sync the contacts with google or any other app. Titanium backup did not restore my contacts neither did CWM. But i had backed up the contacts in Kies but then Kies do not support custom ROM. I searched everywhere unable to find an answer. But then an idea clicked. I used another android phone to restore my contacts from the back up taken in KIes. Made a .vcf file by exporting th contacts to sd card. Transferred it to my original device through blue tooth. Imported the contacts from the .vcf file into my original phone. As simple as that.
Good idea.
but if you make backups with more than one tools would be better.

I was thinking Kies would be enough without an idea of Kies not working in Custom ROM. Also the .vcf file made out of backed up Kies contacts was not getting imported due to some reason in my phone.
