[Q] How difficult is it to port a USB device with a windows SDK to android? - General Questions and Answers

Assuming I hire the right people, how hard would it be to take a usb device plugged into a tablet running honeycomb (that can accept usb host) and write software/driver for it?
Thanks in advance!

android usb connection?

hi, it is posible to connect/read a usb device to the phone (dream). something like a usb stick or a digital camera?
I asked on three different forums if Android or Debian can access USB mass storage device, without a reply from anyone.
ok, thanks for your answer. i hope, someone knows about
My initial thought would be no. But I think it would be possible with a program or some process/service running on the phone.

[Q] Android USB devices. Controllers/Keyboards.

What USB devices can android froyo phones directly connect to at the moment (as host)? Any known printers, keyboards or game controllers?
If I were to chop the usb plug off my usb keyboard or PC game controller and replace it with a micro usb plug, then directly connect it to my phone, would the phone pick it up?
Would I need to write some kind of drivers for this? Has ANYONE else tried anything similar?
Bump.. I too would be interested to know if a usb keyboard or game controller can be plugged into an Eclair or Froyo handset?

[Q] Interface with USB device

Hey, I'm trying to figure out how feasible it would be to connect a high powered usb wireless adapter that supports packet injection (Alfa AWUS036H) to my Xoom for some wireless kung-fu.
If I can find or hack up a cable to even connect the adapter to the small usb port would it be possible to interact with it and possibly port or even write a driver for it? If so, how non-trivial would it be, is Android driver development documented somewhere or does it need some secret magic sauce?

[Q] Looking for confirmation - no USB accessory support

Hello.
I have a machine with a USB host and a USB accessory port.
I have successfully got an Android tablet to talk to the machine, using an OTG cable which puts the tablet into Host Mode (using the machine accessory port).
This has a couple of problems, one of which is charging while in host mode.
I am now trying to keep the tablet in accessory mode, and connect to the host port on the machine.
My research suggests that Android has no support for running as the accessory.
The ADK sample code clearly seems to intended to run on a host (as it enumerates accessories).
I know the tablet supports an accessory mode because when I plug it into a PC, it mounts as camera or storage.
I can understand why they would not expect a keyboard or hub to be running Android, but there do seem to be some legitimate use cases.
Can anyone confirm my understanding, that there is no way to run Android as the accessory ?
Thanks.
I have since found the Android Open Accessory Protocol. Using information from ver 1 and 2 of the protocol, I found enough info to switch the android device into the special android-accessory mode. Note that on Linux, you may need to change the adb program so it is owned by root if you want to run the debugger over the new connection.

[Completed] Computer (Windows, if possible) as a USB drive?

Well, this may be a confusing, strange and questionable question. I know it!
Is there any software for Windows or Linux to emulate a USB device? So when plugging the mobil to the computer, instead of having the Android in the PC, we have a virtual unit as if a usb pen (via OTG) would be?
The idea is to make the connection process backwards. It's possible?
Thank you very much to all!
Hi !
I don`t think it is working this way, first the pc Will recognize it as an android android device and then it will trigger the requested connection ,MTP , PTP , MIDI or charging only
The internal storage to be visible it is controlled by Android
Cheers
