XE will reload (White Logo background) after you exit an apps or games - HTC Sensation

I own a Sensation XE, default device not root, and i always get reload the home screen when ever i exit a apps or games, dose anyone know what is going on?
my device ver as below
Android 2.3.4
Sense 3.0
Software number 1.73.707.4
Kernal 2.6.35.13-gedc56fa | [email protected]#1
' SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 5 12:18:44 CST 2011
Baseband 10.58.9035.00U_10.15.9035.02_2
Build 1.73.1707.4 CL177617 release-key
Browser WebKit/533.1

that happens to me also when i test it unrooted.
with rooting it's rarely, even not mentioned because the root builds are getting stronger than the stock.

I've had that happen on a few occasions. I'm also on the standard untouched software.

I think it happens because the device is running out of memory.
I experienced the same thing and it's quite annoying.

I experienced this when my Sensation was stock (no Root).
Not really a problem anymore since Ive rooted.
...No idea what causes this behavior, but I too reckon it may be down to low memory.
Coming from iPhone where I used to commonly "respring", and that used to free up considerable memory.

I had the same issue. After searching on the internet I read on most of the forums that the original software is buggy. I rooted my phone after using it just for a week with stock ROM. I opened up case with HTC and the support asked me to "reset to default". I said what the hell.. I opted to Root instead of reset default. Those are stupid answers. I had experience of rooting with Moto XT5. Though the process was different I was confident on getting something better from community based ROM's and excellent supports. Rooting and flashing custom ROM has become an addition now. Everyday I check for new ROM's or update. Already tried 2 ROM's in a week. Now waiting to get my hands on ICS.

The issue for me started after I'd done a factory reset.

download a program called (system panel ver 1.1.0) from android market
use it's widget to end all programs, might be helpful for unrooted phones and saves battery life.
you can open that program to exclude any programs (like whatsapp) from being closed by system panel.
MOD EDIT: Dont refer to warez sites

2 Main possibilities....
1) Rosie/Home is getting kicked out of Memory, causing Rosie reloads
2) Rosie isn't locked in memory, in other words it doesn't have high priority and it's getting removed from memory, and the app is getting more resources
And best way to remedy this is to use supercharger(in sig) or use a ROM that has home locked in memory(like CM ). Not sure if the devs of the sense ROMs have home locked w/ high priority.

As others have said this is by design to allow the game to have the amount of RAM it is requesting
Either play a different game, live with it or try a kernel with ZRAM
Swyped from my HTC Sensation

Unroot, happened to me many times

[Q] HTC EVO 4G questions

I am new to the rooting crowd but I am knowledgeable on the rooting process used in unrEVOked3 to root my EVO without data loss. What I was wondering before I make the plunge is am I able to delete the crapware after I root the device or do I have to flash a custom ROM to do that (which will most likely wipe my data)?
If flashing a custom ROM is the case to achieve this, which ROM/kernel would best compliment each other to achieve the best battery life without under-clocking the CPU and run the stock Sense UI? I would like to continue using Sense UI without all the bloatware (like the most recent update that put a non deletable Nova and Blockbuster app onto my phone and nothing else). Would I also have to flash another radio baseband version(currently 2.15.00.11.19) to get better battery life?
Also, I have been emailing HTC & Sprint back and forth and got news that they plan to put Android 2.3 Gingerbread onto the device (although no update to Sense is planned) but no release date is yet set in stone. How long will it usually be after that OTA is released that the rooted crowd will be able to get that ROM? I'm aware of Cyanogen Mod, but I prefer the Sense UI, which I haven't seen a ROM out yet that has Sense and Gingerbread.
My HTC EVO 4G version is as follows:
Hardware: 0003
hboot: 2.10
Android 2.2 Froyo
Radio Baseband: 2.15.00.11.19
Kernel: 2.6.32.17
Build: 3.70.651.1
PRI: 1.90_003
nobody wants to help me out?
What kind of data are you worried about losing? You can back a lot, if not all, of it up, depending on the "data" you don't want to lose.
There are beta Sense GB Roms, but last I checked they still had a ways to go. If you're definitely set on a Sense Rom, I would recommend Myn's Warm Z or Myn's Warm 2.2. I prefer WarmZ because it has Sense 2.0, which is loads better than Sense 1.0. Battery life is pretty good too, I was using a Netarchy kernel along with it. No complaints with the Rom, and I would fully recommend it to you.
you can also you collins battery tweak with myns which is very good

You will probably get better responses by posting questions like this here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=652
All of the questions you just asked are answered there.
Yes, you can delete "bloatware" and no you don't have to have a custom ROM. There are apps on the market to do this or you can do it manually.
As for ROMs and kernels, even the same Evo with the same hardware version will react differently. What I mean is that some hardware is more tolerant with extreme settings than others. What is stable on one Evo may not be on another.
As for radio version I the PRI is more relevent and the answer is maybe. From what I understand the PRI tells the phone how to deal with searching and choosing towers. I just moved and the service here is crap and because my phone is always switching towers my battery life has gone to crap. Many people report better battery life with a different PRI. Even more important than your UI is the apps and widgets and data and sync settings you use.
If you're looking for sense + gingerbread there are stable ports for the Evo from other devices.
What you really need to do is experiment... and read up. Do a nand backup and save your apps/data with titanium so you always have a quick and easy way to go back. Good luck and happy flashing!
the data i'm worried about losing is my contacts and apps, as well as saves and settings inside the apps. also, it is to my understanding that all the bloatware is tied to the rom which disables the ability to manually uninstall the app, so you're saying just by rooting the device i can pick and choose what apps i can delete which were before tied into the stock rom?
All of this and more is answered in the forums. Read around in the evo section. Read up and look on the market. There are root apps for removing system apps and apps for backing up apps and their data and apps for saving your settings. Contacts in android are automatically backed up on your Google account and restored when you sign back in after a new install.
When you ate rooted you can do what's called a nand backup which allows you to take a snapshot of your setup and restore it whenever you want. This is all very basic stuff you are asking whose answers are a few keystrokes away.

[UPDATE]HTC sensation India got 2.3.4 update software version 1.45.720.

India got update 2.3.4 update with software version 1.45.720.
Till now I have seen change with
1) icons clarity.Icons look very fine now.
2) 130 MB RAM free most of the time time (stock ROM)
Let me know if any one know more changes ..bcoz I don't see any surprises
I am on a Custom ROM. HTC will take ages to make their stock ROM as good as the custom ROMs available on this forum....Try one of them...you will also forget the stock ROMs.
@ mathrania but will i loose warranty ? And when i tried rooting my sensation it was not detecting my cell on 1st step only if u can help tht will be much better ..It say waiting for phone though it is connected
You loose some to gain some. Go for insert coin 2.2.5 sse with bricked kernal .5 and see results. Superfast ROM and very good battery.

I also observed the following:
new Facebook app (updated to latest I guess. I am using stock HTC Facebook app)
its noticeably smoother now
battery consumption is worse. I will do battery calibration again this weekend and then if it still remains as bad. Earlier I could go upto 1.5 days with moderate use and still have 20-25% juice left. Now it was like after 8-10 hours of moderate use I was at 45% level.

I hvn't updated to 2.3.4 yet, I'm still on 2.3.3, but I still get around 150-200 MB free RAM. So ur 2nd point has no relation to 2.3.4 at all! Also check ur google Talk app., ur HTC Sensation might now hv the video chat feature. HTC made only subtle changes via the 2.3.4 update, it basically includes a few bug fixes & a few visual fixes. Also the sense crashes might be reduced now.
I'll update my phone in a couple of weeks, I'll be able to answer this better after updating.
can you check to see if your camera's macro function is now f'ed up?
I've almost had it up to here with that and the constant home button/screen shot issue. I almost threw my phone yesterday in frustration.
No update here in Canada yet

It's been eleven days since Android Police published this story detailing the discovery by Trevor Eckhart of some serious security issues within HTC's more recent software. Three days after that HTC responded, and now, a further week or so later, we are seeing reports of an "important security update" being pushed to HTC Sensations throughout Europe.
Now this update is available in India from 29th Oct 2011. While HTC does not specify exactly what the ~9 MB update addresses, the timing seems right to relate to the preceding story. Besides alluding to some positive-sounding "performance improvements and new features", the update description does not mention any further details, and HTC certainly doesn't dwell on the nature of the security update itself.
Quick Update - After you install the ~ 9 MB file. Check for update again you will get a ~400 KB update as well not sure what that is for...
Has somebody in India done this??
Will check any improvements and post the same....

The next update was probably an application update. I had noticed that the "make more space" under "SD & phone storage" in the settings showed an error (something in the lines of "no action attached"). After the application update, its working fine.

Sensation XE keeps rebooting / Custom Rom

Hi,
I’ve had a Sensation XE for a few weeks, and just noticed over the last few days that the phone has started to reboot itself. It’s done it whilst I’ve been using it, and also whilst it’s just been sat on my desk in standby.
I have removed all of the programs that I installed before I had the phone, and that doesn’t seem to solve the problem. Factory reset doesn’t seem to either.
I’ve noticed on some other forums that people have had restarting problems after installing the recent update, but I’m not sure how relevant that might be. Has anyone else encountered the same thing, and if so were you able to solve the issue?
I had restarting problems with my Desire HD and switched to a custom Rom, which solved the issue. Can the Sensation XE have custom roms installed in the same way, or is there a different method to installing them? If anyone has any suggestions on the best custom rom, that would be appreciated too.
Any advice would be great,
Thanks
It can be because of an update. But then more users should have that problem.
I have had my fair share of reboot loops because of software i installed that did not work well. And the phone would not boot anymore
For your Sensation XE you could try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1098849
It uses XE clocks for normal sensations. And the 3.6.4 is based on a XE rom.
Sounds like it might be worth trying a custom ROM. Thanks!

Hi, was wondering if you'd tried the "Android Rev' HD" ROM yet?
I've had the XE for about a month, applied s-off and root immediately and then resisted any modding until last night. Applied MIUI.us 1.10.28, all good initially, then encountered a continual loss of network.
Tried reflashing ROM, different radio's, updates still no joy. Really don't want to go back to Sense, any feedback appreciated.

Hi,
I can strongly recommend ARHD ROMS .
3.6.4 for a 2.3.4 based ROM using Sense 3.0
Or the one I'm using:
4.1.5 which is a 2.3.5 based ROM using Sense 3.5
Or you could wait a little while because he is going to update the 2 ROMS today.

Do you still have that problem? I have the HTC Sensation and random reboots as well. I tried different ROMs (ARHD, Hypersensation and now the cm7 alpha10) and I always experienced random reboots I tried to track it down by studying several logcats or to reproduce the reboots, both without any results... However, I never had reboots while the phone was plugged via usb.
The annoying thing is that the reboots sometimes happen a couple of time right after one another
I think it might be the hw powermanagement, either the battery or some other hw parts.
Best
You’ve had a Sensation XE for only a few weeks, right? It is HTC's responsibility to ensure that their product should work in good condition. Therefore, bring your XE back for repairing or replacement. Don't void the warranty.

Hi all,
I am new to this forum, I do not know this is right place for this question. If not please forgive me and correct me!
I use htc sensation 4g. Then I flash to mike (3.6.4)rom, it seem smooth for every usage except its boot itself exspecially after skype calls or when its hot. So I flash again for clock to normal (means 1.2GHz). Now its less heat but sometime still reboot itself(but lesser now).
I've one stupid thing need to be add before I install 3.6.4 should I wipe user data? its upgrade from 3.6.3 xe rom.
Is there any advice to solve it?

Hi,
What you are experiencing is a poor kernel.
You can go one of two ways.
1.show-p1984 who does bricked kernels HERE (do not be alarmed by the name )
2.Faux123 kernels HERE
His latest is 0.2.3.r3,but I find his beta even better. You can find 0.2.4.beta7 in my signature.
If you want absolute rock stability, choose bricked 0.9.1(best for any 3.6.x ROM)
Good luck.
Hi there,
I had HTC sensation XE UK version, then I installed Middle East Rom to receive an Arabic update after changing the device Cid. Since I bought the device I noted that sometime it reboots after installing some new programs and also sometimes -NOT always- after removing certain programs, REBOOT sometime after I free the memory using "Super Tool Box" program, and rarely after exiting from other program that I could not classified!!!
I have contacted HTC support service, and they advised me to try the safe mode if the issue disappeared, this means it was related to some programs I have installed. This issue does not exist on the safe mode and despite removing >70 of all programs especially the system and tool programs on the regular mode, still I'm experiencing the same issue from time to another.
Currently, I'm just waiting for the announced upgrade to Ice Cream to check whether this issue is normal with the sensation XE or an issue to be fixed!!! Anyway, I was just thinking that it might be a good idea to share with a REBOOTING issue I had. Cheers…
Did you guys use some kind of Task Killers?
i had one and from that time i had serious reboot issues.
i looked up on this site and and after removing the Task Killer software i haven't seen this problem anymore...
Had that problem with the Sense 3.0 Virtuous Sensation ROM. Once I changed ROMs it has not done it since.
Clear your cache and dalvik from recovery and you should see none or less reboots.
Hey Guys
Im also experiencing similar issues
My sensation runs fine during the day then at work whilst my phone stays on a desk mostly it suddenly powers off whilst screen off
I have to reboot and it can happen again immediately after inserting my pin and unlock pattern
Im on a custom 2.3.4 rom (LeeDroid) and sometime it happens on stock kernal and sometimes on custom kernal but more less
Ive being reading about abit and it seems it could well be a 2.3.4 bug, but Ive also tried sense 3.5, android 2.3.5 and it's still an issue now and then, but thats expected with 2.3.5 being a leaked unofficial release.
Think I'll put up with it as much as i can until we get ICS or I might just return to HTC and see what they say or do.
I hope this is not a major issue. Im just going to upgrade mine to xe ;(

Rebooting sensation XE!
Hi Guys
I also have the rebooting problem.
My phone is original and unrooted, unbranded from Tmobile.
IT had gingerbread and was rebooting all the time.
Following HTC i got a new simcard which did not solve the issue.
I now upgraded via OTA to 4.0 and problem seemed to have improved, then few days after the phone started to reboot again and now seems to happen more and more often.
Going off when very warm or just not using it,i can't find a path....i also hard reset it when on Gingerbread but no luck...
I will send this back to HTC asap....Bummer!

i need some serious help with my htc sensation XE..i had virtuous rom and i guess i accidently installed the Android_Revolution_HD_Root_and_BusyBox file from the recovery..now my phone wont start..my backup doesnt work anymore..everytime i restore my backup..my phone starts..makes it through the htc logo but when it gets to the virtuous logo..it just restarts again..pleasee help me i need serious help!

[Q] Why should i root?

I loved rooting my g1 and my mytouch slide 3g but i'm not sure if it's worth it with the sensation. i think the phone is great with the stock software and since it's already on 2.3.4, what are the benefits? it even has screen shot built in :/
please help!
The only thing that has me ever so slightly interested in rooting, is the Amaze camera mod, however I'm more inclined to sit tight and wait for an official update.
Having a Recovery based Backup through CWM and being able to backup with Titanium might be useful.
Also useful if you like removing bloatware.
.......
Mind you the phone works well as standard, so YMMV.
I like to root to have the newest updates.
In Swiss we had the problem that many branded Sensations had call problems (call aborted after one minute). A friend of mine had this problem, I with my rooted sensation not. So I rooted her device and flashed the newest Radio rom and the problem was gone...
You can also use the leaked Sense 3.5 Roms with a rooted phone ;-)
Look through all the threads in the development section and see all the things which you WONT get if you stay unrooted, all the things which you will miss out on, rooting gives you the ability to use programs which need lower level access than others, simply put you are missing out on a lot of features if you do not root, but hey no one has a gun to your head so make up your own mind, personally i find the whole rooting process worthwhile so i can flash custom roms and make my phone a better device to use.
The sensation on stock is a slow and underpar phone which could have been great, let down only by rushed development and poor handling of the code, if you flash a rom cooked up by one of XDA's dev's then you will see a huge difference in terms of performance and looks, there simply is no comparison.
Not rooted is like a computer but you are the user. While the rooted phone it acts like you are the admin you can do whatever you want to your precious phone.

I agree with all above.
I've rooted every android phone i've ever had, starting from the original desire.
It enables you to tinker with, and improve, on so many things. I also had incredible heat with my sensation on stock. I rooted it and it stopped.
I wouldn't even ponder the thought of keeping an android phone stock anymore.

I've had a lot of random reboots because I hadn't flashed properly PG58IMG. Make sure you do flash it properly, and get HBOOT 1.20.
My sensation is not rooted or S-Off , software version is 2.3.4
I remember having the same issues with my Sensation stock ROM. Sense would restart out of a sudden. Personally I think it was related to the Flash app. I know this restart of Sense used to happen more often after I had done some browsing and opened websites that had flash content. I could be wrong.

I found that in the earlier days (about 4 months ago) the sensation had a lot of random reboots but with the newer ROMs I have tried that they have gone away, if you aren't adverse to rooting/S-Offing your phone and flashing a new ROM i would encourage it
Thanks all I have solved it by removing some widgets on home screen
I got the same issue. Sense restart when using heavy applications.
It seems to be related to RAM.
Safe booted
I've been having Sens restarts more often in the last few weeks.
I soft reset (according to HTC support) and now I'm in safe boot as the soft didn't make a difference. Nor did going from HTC batt to 3rd party batt (someone had mentioned that a chip in the OEM batt might be the cause).
If the problem seems to clear with root and custom ROM, I assume that would void the warrantee as there is no way back or am I wrong?
I wouldn't mind getting rid of some of the bloatware and having a stable phone.
That happened to me a lot until I rooted and flashed a custom rom (InsertCoin to be specific). It's most likely a memory issue because Sense 3.0 is a big memory hog and the Sensation only has 768 mb compared to a full gig on other devices. Try uninstalling some applications and removing widgets and that should help.
