Looks like HTC released the Aria source code. HTC Aria – Froyo MR – 2.6.32 kernel source code
Just the kernel source. Not unexpected as the GPL requires it.
I've been looking through it. I suspect there'll be a FR009 soon with new kernel based on this source. I've already compiled one that is identical to the HK kernel some are using as a substitute for the kernel in FR008, only this one is overclockable.

Gene,
Any idea what the differences are between this latest release and the prior FroYo release by HTC? I'm guessing this is Aria-specific...
I've not been keeping up too much with Aria Froyo lately. I've been working with basically an FR005 with a custom kernel based on ATTN1's FR008 kernel source at github (which itself is based on the CM6 kernel with some hacks for the htc specific stuff to work) and it has been working well.
By prior Froyo releases, I guess you mean for other HTC phones? AFAIK, this is the first release by HTC of kernel source for the Froyo Aria (or more specifically the liberty since AT&T is still stalling on a Froyo release for the aria). Asian and European liberties (gratia) have been Froyo for awhile, but the kernel source for these hadn't been released until now.
I don't know if ATTN1 will get a new FRxxx ROM with this kernel out anytime soon; seems he's been working on the new AT&T Inspire lately.

He just said that the kernel source is for the HTC Froyo 2.2 release and is identical to the HK kernel.

Thanks for the info - makes sense to me.
I've used the FR008 release, and it's very smooth. The only reason I went with CM7 is to check out the latest Android version -
Personally, I think the Aria is a speedy phone using any ROM. I actually like the Sense UI, and the email client (which offers pinch-to-zoom) and the browser (with visual multi-windows) are very useful.

I misunderstood. I thought he said, "I've already compiled one that is identical to the HK kernel." I didn't read into this that the HTC FroYo 2.2 kernal source just released is identical to the Hong Kong kernal.
All I did was take a .config from the HK kernel and build from source. That went fine. Then I just added the higher speeds to the cpu frequency table (to allow over-clocking) and compiled again. Installed on my aria and it works fine at 806 mhz. and I'm loving sense again. Haven't fully tested everything yet, but so far, so good.

Sounds like a good way to go -
Any way to generate a ROM zip file? I'd like to try it out...
Here's what I'm running currently. Use at your own risk (nandroid first!):
http://hoxnet.com/droid/update_hoxnet-liberated_oc_kernel.zip
http://hoxnet.com/droid/update_hoxnet-liberated_oc_kernel_a2sd.zip
edit: better start naming these something useful as I may have to post more.
Update: this first one has the a2sd stuff stripped from init.rc for those like me who don't use it. If you use A2SD, use the second one.

Thanks Gene...
This is a really small zip file - can I install it right over CM7, or must I already have FR008 loaded? I'm guessing the latter...
This is just the kernel and ramdisk (commonly called the boot.img ). I don't know what it will do on a CM7 build. Maybe I'll try it. It's compiled based on the .config from the Gratia kernel (sometimes referred to as the HK kernel). It should be a drop-in replacement for the FR00x series up to FR008 (which had a CM6 based kernel). I don't run FR008, but I suspect it will work fine with that since many are using the HK kernel with FR008.
I know this is off topic but, what chances do we have of someone porting the new sense.... I would like to try myself if its possible....

HTC will not publish or release the Sense UI source code and the only devices that currently have HTC Sense 2.0 are the Desire Z and Desire HD which have a different screen resolution than the Aria, so trying to port the existing modules from those ROMs would be troublesome also.
I didn't know there was a sense 2.0. Maybe we'll see that on the Aria AT&T update supposedly out soon.
I seen it ported to the desire from the desire hd, and it looks really nice.... kinda of see thru. So your saying it has to be ported from a phone with the same screen resolution?

None of the HTC models from last year that have gotten a Froyo update have had the new Sense 2.0 (i.e. Desire, Wildfire, Aria). They have only shipped it on the new machines such as the Desire HD, Desire Z and HTC Inspire.

Yes I believe that is true. Both the Desire and the Desire HD are hdpi resolution models where as the Aria is mdpi resolution.
The Wildfire S has the same screen resolution and Hardware as the Aria. This phone will be released with HTC Sense 3.0. Any chance we could port from the Wildfire S Rom, which BTW will also have Gingerbread 2.3.3 out of the box.

TBD once the Wildfire S is actually released. It's all speculation at this point.
Hi, I don't know if it has already been posted but it seems that HTC released their 3.0 kernel source code for sensation and sensation XE.
Here it is, hope it could be helpful for ours Desire S: http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads

Don't want to flame, but this has been mentioned a million times.
Also, it's of no use because it doesn't contains files needed for the Desire S.

Wow! Very good, but why you said "But only 2.6.35", means old, no good?
I think we'll know once some dev downloads it and tests it on an ICS ROM
It's not just a typo like.they're claiming as the file behind the link is called ace-ics-crc-2.6.35-a375925.zip. either they're fuking with us and having a laugh or it was upped by mistake and its not ready yet. Imo its more evidence that the update is in fact being worked on, however slow.
Edit: itried downloading it but the files to small to contain anything, just a few kb so its bull or been removed but if it had been removed I would have expected the whole entry to be removed rather than.just the file. On the other hand could just have been my browser playing up :S
for me the file it's 88 mb...but i don't know...there too much file in the zip file
Dropbox link
Link removed ! Sorry
Here is a downloadlink from my dropbox and it is like the starter of this post showed in his attached thumbnails.
--------------------------------------
It´s about 88,4 mb.
Feel free to download from the dropbox.
Maybe any DHD dev. can look inside the code and give us a statement about the usability of this.
Thanks

It's AT&T, so my guess is it's the kernel source for this Inspire 4G ROM update http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1810461

Because I was not sure I contacted HTC tech. support in my country and it was me confirmed, this is ICS for DHD/Inspire 4G. It is only for AT&T on USA market, but I think: THIS IS GREAT MESSAGE FOR US?

Do you mean that those kernels include the fix for the wire headset control issue?
All official ICS kernel on HTCDev are at least 95 MB in size. Kernel for Desire HD 2.6.35 is just 88 MB. (Don't know if it matters)

Short answer: no. Not now anyways.
...maybe if HTC releases an update for the One S. Porting from another phone than the One S would be a hell of a lot of resizing, as the One S is the only other HTC phone with an qhd screen.

One S with S3 processor (Ville C2) has already been updated, hasn't it?
That ROM is made for Ville C2 and has Android 4.1.1/Sense 4+ :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1910738
So, why would it be impossible to port on Sensation?

see, porting process needs the kernel source, which is NOT RELEASED INDIVIDUALLY BY HTC YET. (I mean the One S kernel source of android 4.1 that's why. unfortunately devs ain't able to get a kernel source inspired like a divine!

one s villec2 kernel source is released of jelly bean
HTC just uploaded the Ville_C2 jelly bean kernel sources. For those that don't already know it is the One S with the sensations processor in it, the msm8x60.
http://dl4.htc.com/RomCode/Source_and_Binaries/villec2-jb-crc-3.4.10-055bd56.zip
My repo is https://github.com/XirXes/pyramid-3.4.10
I don't have it compiling yet but it's quite the start. After we resolve any compile errors we need to port over the touch panel driver and our display.
Let the porting begin.
BTW lik doesn't work.
Then just go to HTC dev and grab the One S source for 3.17.401.102. It will have villec2 in the filename.
so,JB with sense4.5 for sensation will come soon, cheers
Actually that's jb with sense 4.5 not 5. 5 won't come until the ville gets sense 5

I'm pretty sure that even with the same processor, kernel source for another device is quite useless to us.
If I'm wrong someone with kernel dev'ing experience please tell me so!
EDIT: Even if I am wrong, my nexus 7 is only at 3.1.10, officially and on every custom kernel. I find it hard to believe 3.4.10 could get ported to the sensation without a very, very substantial amount of work and hackery.
Is this true?

Porting 3.4.10 code for the VilleC2 to the Sensation is very possible. The only reason why it's possible is because the Sensation and the VilleC2 have the same chipset. I've even built a kernel for the Sensation using VilleC2 source and it booted.

Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk 2
This definitely has ion. The 4.0.4 sources for the villec2 had it aswell. Also as a bonus this kernel may score us powered OTG. The stuff has always been there but was dissabled in the source due to hardware concerns. It doesn't require the charging chip we discussed in the otg thread. The 8660 has the ability on chip.
