If you using a rom you may need to flash the stock gingerbread camera, I had too under Weapon G2X 2.5.
Enjoy!!
Cool! Now if only I had someone to Skype!

did you get the update from today in the market?
option for video chat is literally under options, it will then turn up when you go to call someone, 3rd option down I beleive.
Doesn't work on CM7, I can't see them, they don't see me.

I can confirm that it does not work on CM7 based ROMs. I tried it on MIUI. It'll make the call, but the video is black.
hmm too bad, it did the same thing on my phone but once I flashed stock cam it started working.
Should not take too long for it to work on CM7 im sure.

Same over here as well - 1.9.23.
can someone add the camera apk file please?
My Skype doesn't work and I have the stock rom rooted do you think its because I'm using fauxs kernel?

Skype is ok for me. 2 problems, though:
1.) when in portrait mode, my image is upside down. When in landscape, it's fine.
2.) if i'm using the front facing camera, and I turn it to the rear facing one to show something, and then back to the front, skype crashes and closes. It can't seem to handle more than one transition during a call, lol. However, it doesn't do it every time. More often than not, though.
So for now, as long as I use it in landscape and I don't switch camera views, everything is fine.

Would you have the apk for the stock camera? I flashed the LG 3.0 camera, haven't been able to test it though.
Extracted from "P999_2.3.3_Stock_OTA". No luck on latest MIUI 10/7. Can someone port it over to MIUI?

Didn't work w/ the LG 3.0 camera, uninstalled it and installed the one you posted. Still didn't work. Just get a black screen with both front and back screens. What's also odd though, I don't see video from the other side either.

Anybody know if we could get that badass screen switch off thing the Atrix has on our Infuses? I'm referring to when you lock the phone the screen has that oldschool TV turn off look.

That has nothing to do with the Atrix. That's the Gingerbread CRT effect. Flash a Gingerbread ROM that lists the CRT screen off effect as a feature. Note that current Gingerbread ROM's and kernels won't have HDMI, audio-out or 1080p support.

Try Infused v2.2.3, DlevROM, or an I9000 ROM like Darky 10.2.2 with Hellraiser patch/kernel.

My only issue is I just went back to stock yesterday I think it was, and I don't feel like putting a new ROM on it only to have Gingerbread release, haha.

MIUI also has the CRT off and on animations, where as most is only off. Oh and animations are turned off right after flash usually.
most custom gb roms support the animation. yoy need to turn on all animations in display settings.
You also need to go into setup/display and make sure that animations are turned on.
The mytouch 4g slide specs are too powerful. In the interest of sales and the economy, the government is forced to limit development on this perfect piece of hardware. If we had cm7 or sense 3.5 with gpu UI rendering (harware acceleration)... People would be so happy with their phone that they would not buy a new one, ever again...

You might want to also try undeads absolution. Its pretty nice and basically has all the kanged cm has plus a couple fixes and debloated some more which is always a good thing.
On a side note you might want to give undeads senseless ROM a try as he's got a good bit of cm stuff mixed in to keep it interesting if you want to keep the TV out and good awesome sense camera and 1080p video and not have a bunch of useless crap the stock room had in it. Actually I recommend it at this current moment as cm is great but at the expense of losing a couple of the premium qualities (camera,TV out) of this phone??

It's basically an alpha...
It's a nice start...but the kernel in it will murder your battery. There are some market issues as well as keyboard glitches.
Here's a list posted of issues by the OP
The current buglist:
- Recording in HD Video is limited to 720p currently.
- Camera zoom is limited to 2X.
- Certain browser issues, such as reported crashes and flash 11 movie compatibility issues. (CyanogenMod).
For the most part you might be better off sticking to Undeadk9's Senseless for now..... Might want to hold off till Sunday Undeadk9's got something to share.
But here's CM7

Haven't noticed anything particularly bad with battery consumption. Not as good as my Vision, but WAY better than Doubleshot STOCK.

Browser "issues" easily corrected through the use of a REAL BROWSER, aka FIREFOX.
The other issues with the camera... less than significant.
I am using Undead's ICS splashed 3.0 which comes with Nexus Torch installed. The "bright" setting is incredibly bright, but doesn't stay on steadily. I have tried a good number of flashlight apps from Market (including the HTC 3 setting clone - or is it the original?) but all seem about as bright as regular setting in Nexus Torch. It seems that they all use the video light setting as opposed to the camera flash.
Has anyone found anything, if not as bright as Nexus Torch on "bright", at least brighter then the rest?
Try teslaLED I think its called, I used it on other devices idk if it works with our phone, states its the brightest flashlight app for android..
Sent from my HTC myTouch_4G_Slide using Tapatalk
I did try it (I have it on my phone right now) and it doesn't seem brighter then the others (I also tried Brightest Flashlight, AOI Flashlight, Maxflash, Tiny, HTC clone and others) and I think it is because they use the video light. I think I even came across that point somewhere that they actually run your camera/video. The nexus one (N1 torch) is way brighter, but doesn't stay on steadily. If you run the video light while taking a video you'll see it's no where near as bright as the flash for a picture.
I also wonder how the standard HTC app has 3 different settings, and no other app does.
Lastly, I find the color of the LEDs interesting, they're not as bright white as on my HD2, does anyone have any info on them?
I've been using tesla led for years. Stable. The widget is good and it has an ics theme button which looks nice

Saw what you were saying about blinking bright... There is a warning saying that it might blink because bright is still imperfect. I haven't needed bright so that never bothered me.

There is a very good reason why the super bright feature won't stay lit up steadily on the ICS Rom using Nexus Torch light.... Hint, it's way too bright and long term exposure will burn out our LED lights. Sooooo leave bright enough alone or fry your phone....the choice it's yours my friend

From my experience the led being set on bright has never given me trouble on other devices. As far as I know from my various dozen or so Android phones the brightest by far has been the G2. I've kept that thing running on bright for a minimum of an hour without it giving me trouble while I had to drop the tank in my truck to change the fuel pump on the side of the road......
Frying leds is almost as fun as burning up a dry clutch hehe.

Wondering if anyone has a flashlight able to keep the bright setting of the N1Torch on steady?
Anyone have issues with their camera freezing their phone on the Charge? I had to pound on my home key repetitively before I was able to get to the home screen. None of the other keys worked, either. Of course, it would be nice to be able to turn off the screen in camera mode, but that's a different topic. (I know...i should just root.)
Maybe there's an app out there to fix it? Or maybe an app that does both stills and videos?

I've had that with 2 different charges, I had to pull the battery and reboot.
It happened on stock ee4 and gummy w/imoseyon 4.0 on 1 phone and my new one is doing it on tweakstock w/pbj 115.
The sound is causing the fc in 720, but it works on imoseyon's kernel. On pbj it records fine on 480. Mound is working on an updated kernel I believe.
All those who believe in telekinesis raise my hand!
Imnuts has an update for his kernel that fixes this issue now. It's over on rootzwiki
