Hey guys, I have an HTC Sensation 4G here, I just bought it second hand. It was supposed to work with mobilicity (once unlocked) and the person who sold me it, said it was unlocked..However when i put my mobilicity SIM card in, I get no service...
I took it to the mobilicity store and the guy said I have the wrong version?? He showed me this page on gsmarena: hxxp://VVVVV.gsmarena.com/htc_sensation_4g-3922.php (xx's to t's and v's to w's)
And then told me i have the canada version and it won't work?? So is this true? Is there 2 different versions? And if so, is one of them not compatible with mobilicity?? Or does this guy have no clue what he is talking about, and just wanted to get rid of me fast lol...
My sensation has an SH serial and is an HTC-Z710a if that means anything.. I really want to know if I should re-sell it and look for this so called U.S.A version or do i just need to unlock it properly?? Thank you so much for reading and hopefully reply. Have a nice day...
I think you have the north american version. Same as the one from bell and virgin mobile. It won't work with wind or mobilicity.

Yes i do have the north American version. So there is nothing I can do to make this work with mobilicity?? Is there a software mod that fixes this? Or is it a hardware issue that prevents it? Thank you VERY much for your reply.
It's hardware and something you cannot change. To be sure, since it's unlocked, get a buddy on Bell, Rogers or Telus to try it out. If it works then you know you have the wrong one.

Z710a is not AWS phone.

SDPA 850 / 1900 - For Bell (Canada) is not AWS (1700)
Yea I have the wrong one .. Thanks for the replies guys... Now I need to try and get at least 370 for this one so I can buy the other version lol..Of course the price for the other version (locally) is jacked up more then my version ...grrrr
WHoa talk about lucky!! I re sold the phone today and and also was able to buy the proper version and only had to ad 10$ to what I sold the other one for!! PHEW!! now, what roms would u guys recommend?

Hi,
I am currently in taiwan, and I was just wondering if I bought a Sensation (4g? is it 2 different phones?), and unlocked it, would I be able to use Rogers with it? I've been searching around, and I could find threads saying thers problems such Rogers can't provide 4g, and services not working. Im a total nub at this so I tried to search things up, but nothing came up. Please help .

Rogers has the same bands on Hspa as Bell and Telus. So yes your phone will work on Rogers Canada. Rogers also has the old Gsm bands, Sensation also has these bands but thats only if you're in a non 3g zone.!
Yess , alright ill consider buying it then, thanks for the help
hmm, my friend told me because im buying from taiwan, that it is already unlocked so i dont need to do anything except put my roger sim card in, is that true?
yes i remember when i went back to taiwan and look at the sensation the reps at the htc booth said that they are unlocked. i'm not sure if you buy it from a carrier like chunghwa telecom though. calling should work but not sure about 3g data.
Hello, I'm from Malaysia. Sorry if this question is so noob, i really don't know. I would like to buy a smartphones from here. It seems that a lot of them come from US sellers, and the smartphones like Samsung, HTC, Motorola and others comes by Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile and at&t. So, i am wondering can i use this types of phones in Malaysia?
Any explanation will be appreciated!
Not sure if i can ask this in the marketplace. Sorry.
You can only use AT&T or T-Mobile because they are GSM, but the phones have to be unlocked. Unlocked codes can be purchased online for like $20. Sprint and verizon use CDMA which is not supported overseas.
Thanks for the answer. So, it means that there are no other ways for me to get the Sprint or Verizon version unlocked? Is it only T-mobile and at&t or there are more? And, is it hard or too complicated for sellers from US to ship the phone that i will buy to Malaysia?
Thank you.

Ammo90, the answer is yes and no. If u into modding ur smartphone, u can flash those phone with custom GSM roms. but if u just wanna buy and use it, the chances is slim. Malaysia don't have CDMA coverage yet. and also, Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T use their own branded rom for each phone.
what phone and budget do u expect?

The phone will not be the issue because I'm open to what are available but most of them comes from US as you can see in the marketplace, so i just want to know if we can use them.

hm... most likely u need to use custom ROMs in order to use Sprint, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T smartphones. that's it, I think... try avoid those that didn't use SIM card. look like a hassle to me.
what about S2 GT- I9100 Movistar (i think spain using this branded) and live in malaysia, it is not ok to flash using odin 3.04 this 4.1.2 Jelly Bean XXLSJ like the VioTutorial post in Ytube.. most of the comment say can do this without root it.. what is the option if it get network lock? please.. i m stuck with this firmware
I live in us iwant to send my friend a cell phone with a plan that lives In Malaysia what cell phone can i purchase that will work over there?
Can someone share their experience... if i buy an unlocked AT & T iPhone X, from USA under GSM network, model is A1901 (which is the same model that will be launch in Malaysia), will the iPhone X work in Malaysia under the major provider like Maxis, Digi, or Celcom?
I sent a friend of mine a Boost Mobile Phone , for her wedding gift she lives in Malaysia, where can she unlock the cell phone in Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, and how much will it coast her?
I'm looking at this phone over the Droid 4 (not available in UK either but has been made to work).
So, am I correct in saying that to make it work on a UK network, is to just put a UK sim into the roaming slot and It shall work?
I want to be 100% on this before I go ahead and get one.
If there's anything else, please could someone shed some light on this?
Many thanks

Unfortunately there is no slot to put the sim into, the sim card is fused to the board &, as of now, you would be stuck w sprints international network.
Saint sent this from his Q using xda premium
Indeed.
Supposedly there is a GSM version of the phone coming to AT&T. Look for the XT898

Ok, thanks both of you.
I was under the impression that there was an extra sim slot for using roaming sim cards abroad.
Sooo, this XT898 - are there any clues to when it'll be released yet?

There is a SIM slot, but there's no way to access it. Sprint has embedded their own SIM, and is it encased/soldered to the board literally. Impossible for the user to access without some potentially dangerous hardware hacks.
No clue when the XT898 is going to be released... I get a pretty good deal with Sprint, so I've never really cared about looking at phones on any other carriers... no offense.
Good luck!
How come GSMArena claim that it has a Sim Slot then and that it is GSM capable? :s I too have been looking at importing one of these into the UK to use on the now EE network (Orange UK and T-Mobile UK) Can somebody please confirm that this is deffinately not the case and that it will deffo not work in the UK for us GSM People?

We don't get many good phones these days here in Europe...

See my post DIRECTLY above yours... Oy ve.
I already want to import 2 devices to Germany, but actually I can't find anyone who would send me the devices.:crying:
In the UK (like the rest of Europe) we have little or no choices when it comes to QWERTY phones, so I would be interested to know if its possible to get a UK (or gsm) one over here.

As of right... now, the only option in Europe for this phone is to find an international seller on eBay and mod it as posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1929143. There is scuttlebutt about a GSM variety coming soon (898?), but nothing official as of yet. Good luck, hope you find something soon.

Hi all, I would like to know if it is possible to unlock the phone that is locked to Sprint. Would flashing the stock firmware do the trick?
Thanks.
It won't be locked on Sprint. It's the exact same phone that's being sold in the Play Store.

BestBuy is selling the Sprint Nexus 5 off contract, but Sprint is CDMA right? I am an international user and here we only have GSM, so that phone would not be an option for me?

You are correct about the international part, but the flavor Sprint is selling is CDMA & GSM and works on AT&T, T-Mobile (both GSM carriers) as well as Sprint and other mnvos.

Hi, thank you verry much for your reply. So this phone should work with any GSM carrier or only US GSM carriers? And it should not need unlocking? I'm tinking about buying one but I'd like to be 100% sure that it will work here.
Thanks.

If I understand correctly, according to this table it should work correctly, I am from Argentina, and both carriers listed seem to have Voice, Text and 3G.

I have no idea. North America gets D820, while the rest of the world gets D821. Go compare their bands somewhere like gsmarena.
The Nexus 5 will work on any GSM carrier for voice and 3G, no issues there. Only issue will be LTE (4G). U.S version (D820) has different LTE radio versus Euro (rest of the world version (D821). If you don't care about LTE, then you're fine and good to go with any GSM carrier in your native Argentina.
I have been told that the Nexus 5 sold in BestBuy is CDMA only. What is it, I'm not sure if the guy from BestBuy I talked to was correct about this information. Thanks

Beware - Sprint has never sold a phone which was totally SIM-unlocked. Until there is confirmation that someone bought the Sprint sold/marketed phone and put in a US SIM card that worked, I would not take the chance that the phone is unlocked.

I called 3 local best buys, checking on getting a Nex5 in hand as opposed to waiting on one from google. I asked each wireless-dept worker if I can buy the Nexus 5 for the full off-contract price and then go use it at t-mobile, I further then let them know I want to buy the Nexus 5 "unlocked" so I could use it on whatever carrier I choose.
All 3 people say no-go, must use on sprint.
Sooo - uneducated sales people? or is sprint locking the Nex5 before they send it to best buy? I took no chance and bought from play store.

You cannot believe anything the Droids at BestBuy tell you. They want you to activate the phone on Sprint so BB can collect the commission. Why would you buy the N5 at BB anyway? You like paying an extra $150 vs the Play Store?

its actually only $100... and deduct off $15 for shipping from google... and that I had $50 in best buy rewards from buying a dishwasher... I figured $35 to have it in my hand on the 8th would be cool. But in the end just ordered from play store and will have to wait 2-3 weeks.

ok heres the kicker the Spectrum is the real issue here. LTE bands are split on the 2 versions of Nexus 5's (NA (north America) and RoW (rest of World))
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/nexus/Q4A1X1oAOSs
compare those lte bands to this link to see what lte bands your service uses.

I live in Ontario, Canada and just bought a $30 Sprint CDMA HTC Evo3d from across the border(Buffalo NY) that works perfectly.
Since Rogers acquired Sprint Canada in 2005, I asked on Rogers forum if Rogers can activate this phone for use and they said no as Rogers only bought Sprint "home phone and long distance"...So I guess sprint wireless never even existed in Canada.
Is there any way of activating this phone in Canada with any other carrier, if it is unlocked perhaps? I already got it to s-off...
...
Also, I found this list of Sprint international carriers so maybe one of those companies(Canada) I can sign on with, or are these just for roaming coverage??

Turns out you need the MSL password to access the EPST *edit* menu(CDMA frequencies and phone identity info for the new carrier to program in)
MSL can be obtained by ROOT app called "MSL Reader"
hope this helps someone some day
