email applet question - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

This might be a general android question - I don't know... (I've been playing with HC tablets for several months, but my phones have been iphones.)
In the skyrocket's email app, is there a way to select or mark multiple emails to delete or move them all at once?
Thanks
Gary

Menu > Move to Folder
You can use that to move to trash or any other folders you have by checking them on the right side.

Yes, that will move the currently selected message. However, I have more than one I want to move at the same time. On my HC tablet (sgt7+) I can put a checkmark next to each message, and then delete or move them all at once. On the iphone I can tap "edit" and put a checkmark next to each message, and then delete or move them all at once. On my PC (using outlook 2010), I can click each message while pressing CTRL to highlight multiple messages, and then delete or move them all at once.

I can do this too unless I'm using a different email client than the default built-in one by mistake. I froze them in Titanium Backup since I only use the Gmail client. When I click 'move to folder', I can then check off as many as I want on the right side and then move them all at once.

Firstname, Lastname in Contacts

Yes, I've searched and found 3rd party applications (for other devices, not Raphael. Not sure if they'll still work)
BUT, I swear when I first bought my phone last week, I was playing around with the phone, AdvancedConfig/DiamTweak/TF3DTweak, SOMETHING, and I KNOW I saw an option to choose Firstname, Lastname and vice versa. For some reason I can't find it now.
My question: Is there an option on the phone to change this or was I dreaming when I found it?
If not, what's the easiest way to set this option?
Thanks.
When you go to insert a contact via outlook or to edit existing contacts its the 6th option down "File as" and you can choose First/last or Last/First.

I knew I saw something. Thanks
Is there a way to convert all of them at the same time? Going one-by-one for 200+ contacts is extremely time-consuming.
I'm not a miracle worker haha. Maybe someone else can help I have no clue.
amazingly i was searching for this exact same thing yesterday.
unfortunatly there is no easy way apart by using outlook, BUT there is an app for the universal called FILEASCONTACTS.cab whih adds a sub menu to your contact screen which swops the display name to firstname. lastname.
i have tested on touch pro works fine. you will still have to do every single contact but at least you wont have to edit and then select file as...
hope this helps.

Energy Rom + email config + signature

hey guys,
its me again asking for something I cant find anywhere....
I have Energy Rom wich I really like.
here is my problems:
1. I cant seem to be able to go to email configuration to select the option "keep the email on the server"
I am freeze on the first screen and only the button "cancel" seems to be working.
I tried to delete the account and redo it but it seems that the advance configuration for the email arent available for an unknown reason
2. I cant find where to add / edit my signature in my pop 3 email!
Anyone else got that kind of problem ?
Please let me know!
Best regards to all of you!
To edit your signature, you need to go to the physical inbox. Hit menu key, tools, options. You will see a button called signatures. Select the account from the drop down menu then fill in the signature in the box. Check the boxes that apply.
The only way that messages are affected on your account are if you delete them from the device. You can choose whether to delete from server or send them to the trash can in your server account. There is no option to just leave it alone when deleting. If it is possible to set up your account with IMAP, you will have options for archiving your messages. I would suggest that instead of POP. Then all you need to do with a message is hit the menu button after your done reading and tell it what folder or archive you want to move it to.
Keep in mind these devices where designed with business in mind so POP access was really and afterthought. Its been a while since I've seen and option to do nothing with email deleted from the device. The other benefit of going with IMAP is that when you delete items from the server or your web client if that is what you normally use, it automatically syncs this action with your device. NO needing to delete the item twice.
Thats nice of you!
Hey Techitrucker
first of all let me thank you for your help.
when you say " To edit your signature, you need to go to the physical inbox."
How can I get there... when im in my inbox/ menu I only have:
New
Send/receive
Followup
Go to
Regarding the "leave them on server" thing... while waiting on a answer I figured that out by myself... and now I love it. I just leave them on my phone... then pop them on my laptop...
again thanks !
jeff
had the same problem... the problem is the menu items aren't visible... u need to scroll down from the MENU in the INBOX... there's no arrow - nothing that will tell you, you can scroll down... but it's possible =)

Try this (this works on most other android phones)
1. Create a folder in the root of your SD card called ringtones (lower case r at the front).
2. Put all the mp3 versions of the ringtones you want to use in this folder.
3. Reboot your phone.
4. Now, all the ringtones should show up when you go to select a ringtone for you phone.
5. Go to your contacts and pick the person you want to assign a custom ringtone for.
6. At that person's main contact page, hit the Menu button (the capacitive button at the bottom left of your phone) and select Options
There it should have a spot for assigning a custom ringtone for that contact.
You can also create a folder on the root of your SD card called notifications (also a lower case n at the beginning) and you can put in sounds you want to use for e-mail, SMS and other notications. On my Nexus you usually have to reboot after adding or removing files from these folders to be able to see them, and I would stick with an mp3 format as much as possible.
Also, there aren't any ways to add custom notifications for a person that I know of yet, outside of maybe a 3rd party app.
If you have any other general Android questions try searching XDA or Google for the answers. A lot of the google results will link back to XDA, but maybe for another device (but the answer will apply to most Android devices overall).

Google contacts dont seem to allow it. So I guess the question is how do we convert contacts from google to standard phone contacts.
I can't believe Samsung took out this important feature!

I can answer that...I had the same issue, and figured it out this evening.
Export your contacts in GMail to a VCard file, then dump that file onto the SD card on the phone.
Import/Export while in your address book, and make sure you select "Phone" and not your linked GMail accounts.
Problem solved.

awesome! gonna try it now! i've been looking for a way to do this
ok, so i tried this, and it shows a linked contact, the phone and the gmail. but in order for it to work, i'm having to make the phone the default not gmail, and then unlink the contact. does that make sense?
You don't need to import contacts. You can create a new contact on your "phone", not Gmail, with the same name. Afterward, the new contact will automatically linked to the Gmail contact. Then edit that contact and you will see a new tab called "Phone", inside that tab is where you can change the ringtone.
i like having all of my contacts synced to google for quick editing and for backup, will I have to create new contacts twice to assign them a custom ringtone? it seems we are missing a few important features.
this also affects group sms, since the sms program wont look at google groups, only local groups
this seems to be hit and miss for some reason. i was able to move my contacts to the phone, it linked them, and allowed me to edit the phone version to have a custom ringtone. the problem now is that sometimes the ringtone works other times it just goes to default. is there a way to not sync your gmail contacts to the phone and install them manually?
all of these work arounds are pretty stupid. The fact that samsung, disabled this feature, or that android doesn't support it is STUPID. If you do any of these steps you end up having duplicate contacts. Worse yet, on many menus, it will show 4 phone numbers (ie 2 for mobile and 2 for home). I can't belive such a fundamental feature is SOOOOO broke.

[Q] TF E-mail client

I tried to search the forum but without success...
In the native client, is there a way to have a multiple selection of mails? I tried everything that came up to my mind but found no way... it is a bit annoying deleting item per item
Also, is there a way to empty the trash with a simple tapping sequence or do I have to delete item by item?
Thanks!

AFAIK there are boxes you can check next to each email for folder moves, deleting, etc.
Don't think there's a quicker way to delete the trash..

[HOW TO] Delete Duplicate Google Contacts

Sorry Mods I need this to be moved
Hello. Are you a keen flasher? Do you have duplicate contacts after syncing? I am writing this because I had some trouble finding out how to do this. It's actually extremely simple but you just need to know where to go.
1. Log in to your gmail account (Easier on Computer)
2. Top left hand corner of this gmail main page click on "Gmail" (It's just under Google)
3. Select Contacts.
4. Navigate to Other Contacts or wherever your duplicates might be. I had over 1600 duplicates lol
5. Check which contacts you want to delete or select the check all box at the very top
6. At the top middle of the page click on "more" then "delete"
7. That's all
This might seem too easy? Sounds dumb? At the end of the day even if this helps just 1 person I am happy
here is an easy way

if your syncd with google, you can open the contacts within gmail and use the 'find duplicates & merge' button.
i had around 700 contacts which duplicated many a times to some 3000....
this saved me alot of effort... :victory:
Hit Thanks if i have helped you
much simpler way
Open Google contacts
Enter user pass
Look out fore MORE under that see for restore and restore our contacts back to original form without duplicates based on the time period....
Hope this helps all XDians
Keep flashing and enjoy
these fixes work everytime.
Everytime being the operative word.
Duplicates happen over and over again, and it seems to be the same ones that duplicate.
Annoying.
I think, in my case, it has something to do with the fact that I have OSX Address book involved as well.
But I know that is set up right.
Perhaps Google Contacts ins't quite up to the task.
Doesn't work for ME

I have had this same issue for over 2 years and just threw my hands up to just deal with it! It's starting to annoy me again and I was hoping that there is a better solution than what I saw some 2 years ago! I can't even click on the "Contacts" symbol without getting an error message stating "Gmail is temporarily unable to access your Contacts. You may experience issues while this persists. Learn more"! Further more after THIS message I get "Oops… the system encountered a problem (#101) - Retrying in 3s…"! I'm at my wits end on this but don't want to delete my account! this also affects my Contact Synching on my other OS devices! Can someone out there help me?!
Thank you!
