You can partition in recovery but it will format your sd!
when you partition your sd card thru cwm it creates a ext3 filesystem so make sure you choose that in link2sd settings when it asks you.

On the ext partition? One option is to use nandroid--it will make a tar file (I think it's called "SD Data" in the nandroid menu, but I'm not sure). Or if you use linux, you can mount and backup the ext partition directly.
Thanks....

I used Link2SD first to create a partition , it did create a external partition but it showed me every time that the script couldn't be mounted.I tried it with ext2/3/4 as well as FAT 32/16 but no use.Now I want to repartition my SD card and want to try it again with d2ext.How to repartition my card? I tried to format it after creating a back up but it is still showing that it has a external partition. plus, I am not getting the option of 'partition sd card' in the advanced menu in the recovery.
What to do?
can u be more precise!
Use MiniTool partition manager(computer) for it.
Create partition with FAT32 of desired space.
Insert SD card in phone
And open link2SD, it will ask you for script.
Try with Fat32 or ext2.
It should work.

Is it possible to use ext3 formatted sdcard for storing everything in android. Can applications access ext3 sdcard just the way they access fat32 sdcard?
I'm having unofficial cyanogenmod10 on my device with armv6 CPU.

Currently I have ext partition size of 512 MB can i increase it to 1GB ? Do I have to flash the ROM again.

No need to flash ROM
backup all data from ext-partition as well as primary partition
Use MiniTool Partition manager on PC.
connect your mobile via usb.
and resize the partition using MiniTool.
unplug your device and reboot it. Link2sd will create mount script for your resized partition.
Use fat32 or ext2
Remember Hit Thanks if I helped !

you already have a external partition.
If you delete that partition from recovery that memory space will remain unallocated (useless)
It is preferred to partition it from a PC
Am having some problems partitioning in PC.
Partitioning in Recovery mode is the same thing?

yes you can!!
first you delete which partition you have ext partition then create extended (1gb) partition.
Can you tell me how in the Recovery mode.I have a ext partition of 512MB in a 4GB card.

Boot into recovery mode -> Select advanced -> select partition SD card-> select 1024mb and swap 512 (or) 0.
wait and some time...
thats it.
first backup ur full data , because it will erase ur card fully.
Hi,
I'm back to stock firmware for my Galaxy Fit. I have two primary partitions on SD card. The second partition is formatted with FAT32 file system. But Link2SD app is not able to mount the second partition.
What should be the file system If I'm running stock firmware. Am I missing something?

Problem Solved
Since I was using custom ROM earlier the second partition was formatted to ext3 filesystem. I reformatted the partition with FAT32 file system using minitool partition software and it worked..
your primary partition must be fat32 while the secondary one must be ext
