Case-Mate Popcap Case, Awesome! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

Just want everyone to know, I received the Case-Mate Popcap case in white yesterday for my Skyrocket and I gotta admit, it is one of the best quality cases I ever used, better than all the Seido ones I previously had on my iPhones. I was real surprised on how nice it looked and its high-quality feel since I ordered it from ATT’s website and it didn’t provide much detail, so I was pleasantly surprised by it. Just to let everyone know, it has rubber coatings that cover the volume and power buttons, so it makes pressing them easy, and it also has rubber grips on the side to make your Skyrocket easy and comfortable to hold. I got the white back with gray rubber sides and it looks real nice, I think they got other colors, but the white one gives it a nice look.
Overall, just an awesome case. I searched online online and was able to get a coupon code for 25% off on ATT accessories.

got any pics you could snag of the case alone , inside and out, and then with it on the phone. AT&T is the only spot where you can get these bad boys and they have a pretty teribble 1 picture example so its hard to tell what your getting into.
Thanks
JD

I wish it had a kickstand the Case-Mate Pop for the OGSGS2 has a kickstand. It would make more sense to have one for this phone, seeing how it has a bigger screen and all...

Damn, i didnt know the sgii had a kickstand, that wouldve been real cool
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App

Totally agree. I picked one of these up at the AT&T store literally about an hour ago, and it's one of the best cases I've used for any phone, period. It's rubberized on the inside so it looks like it could absorb some shock if you dropped it, and the grips on the sides make it easy to hold without it gripping in your pants pocket.

agreed, had the otterbox rubber one while i was waiting for this one and finally got it yesterday and love it. The rubber on the inside and the textured sides are great for grip but it can still go into any pocket no problem. Price is a little high but you get some good stuff.

I loved the casemate pop for the og s2. Im now waiting for the kickstand version and better colors for the skyrocket. Bought a creotech sbg neo in the meantime.

ya i still find it odd that AT&T gets these exclusive cases that the manufactuers don't even put on their website. if you even try to find any info on the case mates for the skyrocket only place you can go is the AT&T website.

Ill tell ya this much.. They gave me the White Casemate and a Red version to demo with my Skyrocket. Its the same design that they used for the OGSG2 but without the kickstand..
Which is a very similar to the Speck Hardcandy cases.
Very high quality case.. although i prefer a barely there type case.. So im sure i wont use it for too long.

Some pics please.

I've got this case and here are some pics. IMHO it's really bulky and I'll be switching to a barely there when they have them not in pink.
but, I can't post pics until 8 posts.. oh well..

Pics please.

would you be able to upload them somewhere and post a link here?

for those that are looking I have the sky rocket now with the POP case it is hands down the best with no bulk im coming from the Infuse with the same POP case they are identical 100% its the best i could find hope this helps check the link http://www.case-mate.com/Samsung-Infuse-4G-Cases/Case-Mate-Samsung-Infuse-4G-Pop-Cases.asp

I'm thinking on either the case mate with kick stand or without. I need some real world pics

So I saw a lot of requests for pictures, and I'm not sure if the OP has seen them yet, but I'm gonna go ahead and attach them here so people can see what it looks like

I really like this case, but it doesn't seem to hold up pretty well. The rubber on the edges is going bad after only 3 days of putting it and taking it out of my pocket. I'll exchange it and see if another one does the same thing. Really too bad cause I don't like anything else.

This case is going back to AT&T this afternoon. The rubber is starting to rub off around the corners after a week or so of being in my pocket. Some pics with the case on. Seems solid but I'm going to go with a barely there look instead of the Candy shell type case.

Agreed, I bought this Casemate as well. It does have a high quality build to it, but I'm not sure if I'll keep it in lieu of the Diztronic Matte Back Black Flexible TPU Case I bought from Amazon. It arrives tomorrow and I'll try to remember to post my thoughts.

New case from case-mate, anyone order??

Just found this, http://www.case-mate.com/Google-Cases/Case-Mate-Google-Nexus-One-Tough.asp
Anyone order or going to order. Im thinking about it, don't know yet.
I'd be willing to try that one once it shows up on eBay for $4.
$30!? It's pretty thick, too.
i would order this in a heart beat if there were other colors... pink = no, thanks.. and black/black is too plain black/gray.. or black/white... would be nice
from what it looks like, i think it is the best designed and made n1 case made up to date
It's a bit thick, but I actually like it. It's very reminiscent of the Switcheasy cases for iPhones. It's nice seeing a spike in the quality of these cases for our phones. It's between this and the Innocase II now..

Anyone else find that these rubber cases just get grit caught in them, causing your phone to get scratched up more than it would otherwise? At least with a hard case, any grit that gets in isn't being rubbed back and forth over your phone - it's probably relatively static.
Or maybe it's just me...
Oh looks like they have another case.
http://www.case-mate.com/Google-Cases/Case-Mate-Google-Nexus-One-Vroom.asp
finally someone is starting to produce some high quality cases! that or the other companies are still in the development stage... either way, im waiting for a review of this before i get one,
oh wow, those both look really nice...
i think i like the 'vroom' better due to the fact that it's thinner. plus i'm a car guy so the tread design is kinda sweet...
they also have the gelli case here: http://www.case-mate.com/Google-Cases/Case-Mate-Google-Nexus-One-Gelli-Case.asp
it looks like the epik case i bought off of ebay though...probably a bit better quality...
That vroom case looks like it would completely block the proximity sensor, light sensor, and charging led.
Hello xda...thought I'd make an account since I lurk here so often.
I just ordered the gelli case, it's exactly what I've been looking for. Not the sticky generic rubber that attracts hair, and not the hard case that is IMO ugly and lacks a good texture. It get's a little tiring pulling your nexus in and out of it's sleeve, as cool as it is. I'll have to post back when my case comes.

I noticed that too, I ordered one yesterday though. I'll post weather or not it's actually like that once I get it...
I got the geli case from case-mate.
I really like it. I ended up getting the smoke color.
It's low profile so it will still fit in the stock sleeve.
it's grippy but not overly so.
The cutouts are perfect.
The included screen protector is pretty decent.
I'll post some pics soon.
Anyone have any photos of the case-mate cases? I'm definitely ordering one from the, just don't know which one.
does the geli case attract lint like the rubber cases do?
ordered the vroom a day or two ago, will get pictures up once it arrives

For those of you who like the grip of a "skin" but a little bit of hard case too

For those of you who like the grip of a "skin" but a little bit of hard case too
I just picked two of these up on Ebay for $8.99 shipped. The only way I can describe them is a silicone skin/hard case hybrid.
It's basically a silicone case with a hard cover that holds the silicone case on a bit better plus gives a little bit o' hard cover type protection. Every silicone case i've had in the past liked to slip off pretty easily - this doesn't feel like it's going anywhere anytime soon!
The ones I got were the lime green and carbon fiber variants, but they can be also had in pink, blue or black. I thought the lime green with black screamed Android!
If nothing else, they are definitely unique!
Ebay seller's name is "moderntechs" . Search with keywords on Ebay "Nexus Hard Silicone" and you'll pull them right up!
wow that's pretty awesome. I know there was a company that made something similar for iPhones, and some people here were emailing them to petition for a N1 model. I have to say this probably does exactly the same thing for much, much cheaper.
Nice find!
EDIT: does this case make your phone really hot when there is heavy data usage?
I think I worded that poorly.. $8.99 EACH shipped, but still, not a bad deal.
do you have an invisible skin or best skin ever? I have a best skin ever and have found that a couple(admittedly cheap) hard snap on cases I've purchased wouldn't close completely due to this skin, but it sounds like these are a bit different?
I have no additional skin but I have no doubts this would fit with one of those.
I believe it's a knock-off for Casemate tough hybrid
doesn't look the same but idea is identical

that'd be nice. I look forward to it
how fast does this guy ship?
just bought one myself.
I ordered both of mine on a Monday and they arrived on Friday. That's about normal for first class mail between California and Florida though.
I say invest in a good case. Get Seidio Innocase II. Feels very good in the hand. All worth the money.
I got my case on Monday. I can do a video review as well if anyone likes..
Quick take: It has a real solid feel, looks pretty cool, and even my fashion conscious girlfriend agrees. There were a few *small* nitpicks with the fit that I had that are hard to explain in typing, but it was definitely worth the 8 bucks. Again, it feels considerably solid and I like that it works with a bestskinever where a traditional hard case does not.
Deal breaker: It's so solid, that's kind of a pain to take off of the phone. I have a desktop dock that I use every night and live with the fact that I just have to remove the standard gelli type soft cases, which is easy to do. So, for that reason I probably won't be using it much, but if I didn't use a dock, I'd use this case 24/7
I have to agree 100% - very solid, especially for the price!
I looked at the MyBat website and I see that they make similar cases for other phones, so I've been sending any admirers looking to see if they can find one for their phones.
I came across a bunch of other models for other phones on Amazon by searching for MyBat and Hybrid.
I didn't get around to making a video review, but damn this case is nice. Very solid, and no obnoxious logos *cough* Case Mate *cough*
Well worth the money, great fit. Only issue I had was with my screen protector, I didn't have it applied perfectly center, so the edge of the case would cause the screen protector to lift and bubble. I have since reapplied a new one, and all is golden!

Same thoughts exactly. Definitely worth the money, does the same job that a 30 dollar case does, at 8 bucks.

Trident Aegis

Trident has the aegis case up on their website for G2x. They only seem to have it in blue and green right now though.
Ordered a green one- will let you know, maybe get some pics up.
Also Fortte supposedly has a leather case in the works, but no details on it. I decided I wanted the ability to use the phone after I had a previous bookstyle case for a blackjack. That was a pain to make a call on.
Like the way it looks but also looks bulky?
Review and pictures would be appreciated.
http://www.tridentcase.com/product_67_92.html
It seems to be available in Black, Blue, Green, Pink and Red now. I am eager to hear how you like the case once you get it.
just from looking at the picture it looks gigantic i dun think its for everyone, more for like outdoor ppl or ppl who always break there phone. But it does look solid but could be better. They should make a slimmer version of the case.
Hey, these looks great!
I might pick up one while I wait for an otter-box, if they ever come around.

It's definitely going to add bulk to it. I have the Aegis for the myTouch 4G. It's bulky but provides very good protection for your phone.
Edit: If you guys are not in a hurry I would suggest waiting for this case to become available at CyclopsCase.com. I think they are a distributor for Trident cases. They are $10 cheaper. That's where I bought my Aegis case and it was shipped for free too.
just ordered the green. I have been a fan of the trident cases for a long time, the cases are top, top quality and offer amazing protection. I had a cyclops on my old MT4G and it was a beast, the Aegis does not look as bulky, but i am sure it will protect very well. I will post pics when it arrives.
The green and red one looks nice. I want to get one later on.
Review of Trident Aegis case for G2x (green)
$30 for case and screen protector
Bought this case to get corner and drop protection- I chose this over a Tech21 Nexus S slip case or a fortte leather case (not released yet) or PDair case because with the touchscreen, I didn't want to have to remove it, use it, put it back in. I wanted quick out of pocket check of email/calendar, back into pocket. I had a book style case (pdair) with an older blackjack II, and I hated the flap front cover when I wanted to make a call.
Shipping was fast via USPS, however I didn't get the screen protector in the box for some reason- the tape did not look neat, so I can't say if it got opened and pilfered in transit. I still have the OEM film protector that came with it, so I will just wait for a new ship of the screen protector from Trident customer service and have that as a backup.
Inner silicone is smooth- doesn't feel tacky to the touch at all so I don't think it will attract dust/lint like other more rubbery silicone. Hard polycarbonate is also smooth, though it doesn't feel like hard plastic that will chip, so that is good. I was worried about Seido as they have many forum posts about corners and tabs breaking. This doesn't feel like it will chip or break away unless I purposefully snapped it.
The final fit is good- it isn't super snug like some of the trident iPad and iPod reviews suggest. It isn't looks- it fits well, and I feel like I could get it apart without hassle to pull the battery if I wanted to.
Ports are covered with silicone tabs- volume and power work well- you have to give a little push since it is below the silicone. Tabs fit right below the hard polycarbonate to keep the in place. Micro USB cable plugs in well- the only port I may have to get an extender with is the 3.5 mm headphone jack since i have an L shaped jack instead of straight jack. It would have to fit with the L portion pushing out over the tab (think due south if looking straight at jack) and couldn't fit at any other angle out (north/west/east), but I think the extender that Trident has (which wasn't in stock when I ordered) would be the best option. Ill probably get something from Amazon or monoprice.
Camera holes and proximity sensor are holes- no plastic covering them, which is fine with me.
Fit in pocket (for a guy) is fine- it doesn't really add much unnecessary bulk. Width is about 11/16 of an inch, height is about 4 and 14/16. Phone/case is about as thick as my older BlackJack II without its case, so I am fine with it.
Overall I am happy with it. I can't say anything about the screen protector until I get a replacement, but I won't be using it until the OEM one peels off. I've never held an Otterbox so I can't compare quality, but frankly I don't think the O'box would be much different in quality. Or at least to justify waiting/pleading with them to get a case out for the G2x. I think it works for my needs- if I had decided on a leather case, I probably would have either gone with the Tech21 Nexus S (same dimensions) or waited to see what Fortte came out with, since Noreve and Sena are too expensive. I wish it was $20-$25, but I can see some of the engineering that went into it so I'm not too worried about the price.
Pros-
Nice non tacky silicone and polycarbonate shell.
Ports are covered but can be accessed.
Camo green is a nice green
Fit is secure but not too tight that I can't take it out.
Cons-
Wish they had more colors for the silicone (would have done a black poly shell with orange silicone to go with my company colors). They have this for the iPhone and a few others.
3.5 mm port likely needs an extender for L-shaped headphone jacks
Screen protector missing, but that may be a problem during shipping. Am not too worried about CS helping me out with this one.
Wish it would have cost $5 less, but it had free shipping, so evens out in the end.

Just got the blue one, this is def the best case around.....just as good as a otterbox
FYI- Trident replied to my inquiry about the screen protector, and said that the case does not come with one- it was an error during the first few days of creating the store entry. So don't expect one with the case.
Just received mine in the mail today. 3 days flat which is good going. I got the green and black and could not be happier. The rubber surround is very thick and offers a lot of protection, it will definitely protect against a serious drop.
The back of the case is a hard plastic, but it has a great rubber texture to it.
For the price you cannot go wrong. I have always used trident cases on my phones and have never been disappointed and the same goes for this case. I highly recommend it
Got mine today. I to went with the green. This is a great case I'm very pleased with it. I wish they would make one of there other series that have the screen cover but I asked on facebook an was told there is no plans on making any other series at this point

My take on Trident case
Shipping was really fast. I ordered on Monday and got it in yesterday. I got the red/black one for my G2x, and pink/black Aegis case for the Samsung Galaxy S 4g for my lady. Was really impressed with the build, the grip, and especially the tabs that cover the ports. At first I was totally happy with the size...until I put my girl's on. The design of her case was made to keep her phone both protected and without adding too much bulk to it. I admit I was jealous at first, but that all changed once my phone and case was tested. My phone got thrown about 3 feet from my really high bed, onto my really hard tiled floor. Was worried, but the case did its job. Had it not been for the design of the case, my phone would of been totaled. It really helped protecting the G2x. Overall satisfaction is at it's highest. Definitely recommend this case to anyone wanting to protect their phone without worrying too much about size. Hope this post helps

Just ordered the black one from ebay. $23 shipped... not bad.
After heavy research I decided to try this brand out. I've never owned a Trident case before but as far as protection goes, this looks like the best case out for the g2x.
We shall see!

Tech21 D3O Impact Maze Case

Hi Guys,
I cancelled my pre-order for the Spigen Neo Hybrid as it was taking far too long to arive (expected from Amazon UK was towards the end of May) So I decided to go ahead and try the Tech21 Impact Maze case, which I picked up from eBay UK for about 20 quid. Thought I would do a little review just to let you all know what I think so far...
OK, so when I was looking for a case, I wanted something that was going to offer a bit more protection from drops than the Case-Mate Barely There I had on my S2, but didn't want anything too bulky. I definitely didn't want anything that looked remotely like an Otterbox!
Initial impressions when looking at the Tech21 website, all the cases are somewhat transparent, and you can see the D30 material in all of them (apart from the Impact Snap range, which looked a bit too bulky with all the cutouts). I didn't really like the look of it, but the technology behind the D3O material looked very promising, and from watching a couple of youtube videos, its safe to say that employees at Tech21 definitely have faith in their products! Watch THIS and you'll see what I mean. This stuff is used in body armour and bulletproof vests and everything... pretty remarkable stuff really!
Anyways, I gave it a shot and it arrived this morning. Upon seeing it, it looks much darker than the images made it look (I bought the smoky version, on a Black Mist S4) and it actually looks pretty good. Still not keen on the orange bits, but you can't have everything! The fit seems great, not particularly tight to get on, but the phone doesn't move around inside it, and there are no noticeable loose bits. The case is make from smooth, soft plastic, so it feels really nice to hold, but shouldn't be so grippy that it makes it awkward to get out of your pocket. It does add some bulk (about 3mm around each side, 2mm on the back), but still feels nice to use.
I had read reports that the buttons can feel very stiff. Fortunately, I've found that while they do feel different to using them without a case, they're still pretty responsive.
The lip on the front doesn't seem to foul my screen protector, but glass ones might cause issues due to the extra thickness, which I guess will be a consideration with most cases.
All the cutouts are lined up perfectly, standard headphone plugs should fit no problem, and the hole for the USB cable should support most standard size connectors too.
All in all, I'm pretty happy with it, would be happy to recommend the case if you're looking for something similar, and happy to recommend the seller I bought it from HERE. I ordered this late Monday night, Dispach email came through early tuesday morning and it arrived by first class royal mail today. Couldn't be happier!
Will get some snaps up of the phone in the case as soon as I have something to take them with

I love those D3O Tech21 cases... we had the guy come into our office with the D3O putty and a hammer. You can push maybe a centimeter of the stuff around your finger, then hammer it like mad without feeling anything - just don't miss and hit your finger dead on! Magical stuff for sure, glad to hear that the Maze case looks better in person than it does in the pictures.

I gotta see this.
Ok but my only question, is;
If this stuff is so good why is it only around the edges of the phone?
Thacounty - there are LOADS of videos all over YouTube of very similar things, as well as the same guy (who I think must be the CEO of Tech21) throwing phones around HARD!!
I suspect they only put it around the edges as impact force her is higher (lower surface area means same force on a smaller area)

Just a blip of info on the stuff they use...
they use it in a lot of high impact things like like knee pads and elbow pads on motorcycle gear, works really well.

Its also being tested in bulletproof vests (by BAE Systems no less...) as its energy absorption properties are higher than that of Kevlar apparently!
And just for a laugh... D3O Hat!!
Thanks OP for putting me onto this, really like the look of these cases so I've order the smokey mesh from ebay.

I really want to order the clear maze one for my white gs4 does it add too much width to the phone? I'm a guy with average sized hands and I can hold my galaxy nexus alright. Just worried about it making it too hard to use one handed.

This Tech21 case is around 7.7mm width-wise, definitely comfortable in one hand.
I'm still trying to decide whether or not to keep this or to go for an Otterbox Commuter when it comes out...I'm impressed by the impact protection advertisements, but I've had an Otterbox for my last two devices and it's definitely tried and true.
OK one last thing is really bothering me and the only reason I haven't ordered this yet. I feel like the front lip is too small... I have a diztronic less then 10$ case on my galaxy nexus right now and that has a nice sized front lip... Already ordered a MIME glass screen protector but if this thing falls on its face I wanna protect that beautiful screen..

Hey, I got my case yesterday evening. Even took some photos with my camera however didn't get a chance to upload them. Will try this evening.
Overall case is quite nice. Fits the phone well, is quite slim however due to substantial protection on the sides it does add considerably to the width and height of phone. Comparing to neo-hybrid it's a little taller, a millimeter or two wider and only slightly thicker however I feel a lot more confident of dropping it in this than the neo-hybrid.
Cutouts for ports are all perfect with a decent charging cutout so it fits all my chargers. Nice grip with the case. The Mesh on the back does look quite nice with the textured s4 back.

Otterbox Commuter v. Incipio DualPro v. Seidio Active

Hello all,
I've always only had the Otterbox Commuter as my one and only case for phones, and with them being so slow to get out the color I want for the S4, I was wondering if I should keep waiting for a bit longer or go with another choice like the Incipio DualPro or Seidio Active. I don't have any experience with either of them, so I'm wondering if anyone who has used them can shed some light (both good and bad) on them.
Thanks.

Incipio Dual Pro is horrible. Fitment is off and constantly slips on an end, exposing the screen with no lip coverage. Luckily it was free from the ATT store for me, but i wish i chose a different case from them. I ended up ordering a minimalist JL case from amazon anyway.
I have an Incipio case and I think it's great. Probably the best case I've had for a phone. Only like $25 too.

Consider having a look see at the Casemate Toughcase if you like the otterbox, its actually less bulky while providing better protection for the phone. I'm very surprised this case doesn't see more play here becuase its a truly good case and I get people asking my out of the blue what it is and where I purchased it. I've got probably a dozen friends on it now and I did nothing to convince them, they mauled and pawed at the case for a few and were sold. If you are of a mind you can quickly pull up a few reviews on youtube of the case.
I've been using the Seidio Active case for a few days now. I used a 10% off coupon I found searching Google and it came out to $31 shipped. I bought the one with the grooves for your fingers. Also has a kickstand. I pull out the kickstand when holding the phone and put my ring finger under the kickstand so I have a good hold of the phone and my thumb can reach more of the screen. Kickstand also comes in handy with the smart stay option so the screen won't turn off when I'm reading. It is easy to take on and off so I can get to the battery easily. All the proper cut outs are there and are lined up perfectly. Complaints - When typing or pushing the menu / back key my fat fingers will hit the edge of the case. I just have to work on using the tip of my thumb. Depending on the angle of the phone you may not be able to see the notification light. There are covers for the volume and power button which took some getting used to but I can now hit them without looking.

How well does that case work with a glass screen protector?
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
I have the Incipio Dual Pro Carbon now as my temporary case. The rubber is constantly coming off from around the lip. You see the silver when this happens. Not a huge deal but in a drop it won't be that good. Also the silicone grabs a little bit of lint.
Seidio active... I have it on my Nexus 7 and had it on my Note 1.... Huge lint magnet, OLD OLD design, silicone can be warped and won't lay flat in some areas.
Otterbox Commuter.... I will order one of the colored models when available. Buttons were terrible on the S3 but it seems to have an improved design....Putting the case on seems to be better than the S3... Overalll good design.
I also ordered the Cygnett Workmate... It seems to cover the issues from the other case and offers better grip... I will know in a couple of weeks.

The edges of the case do come over the top of the device to the screen side but this is only the softer inner portion of the case and I'm thinking it would work fine but I do not use screen protectors so I'm not certain. You can see it pretty clearly in some of the youtube videos of the case so you should be able to make a call from that. A link is here ---> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7l3X7Oxgx5I and the same fellow reviews several others which might catch your interest as well.
I've included a couple pictures that show something you cant see there. The one is of my year old S3 case next to my brand new S4 case. Notice how the thing still looks new? The other seems like kind of an oddball picture but what you are looking at is the largest portion of the soft inner case and the thing to notice there is the lack of lint. While these do catch a tiny bit of lint it is very little as you can see there. I did not clean the case up, it went from my pocket to the drawer after my S4 got here.
On my S3 I have had my phone in that case directly alongside a friend who had his in a commuter case and we both agreed that this case felt better in the hand and it had a more premium feel. It also has better grip but does not hang in the pocket. He in fact is one of the people I know who ditched his case and got the Casemate instead. Now I've obviously not seen the Otterbox for the S4 yet but it appears much like the Casemate counterpart to be pretty much a rehash and I would expect that they will compare similarly again.

I bought mine (Dual Pro) at a TMob store. I totally disgaree regarding overlapping screen. It TOTALLY protects the screen via it's superb fit overlapping. Plus it has a nice "feel just holding it'. Used to have a Body Glovefor my S3. The bodyglove was on the thick side and it just didn't have the same tactile feeling when holding the phone. Mine is black with Grey...IOW two tone. Only saw it in a TMob store. Solid colors online from this link.

Man, that is some kind of funky back they have there. How does it feel? What is it?
And you said that Casemate offers better protection than the Commuter, any links to vids/proof to this? Cause if that's true, then that's a great deal. It looks like it is as bulky as the DualPro. Lastly, how are the colors with the Casemate? Got sick of all black, and that's why I've been looking elsewhere while waiting for the Commuter colors. Thanks.
Incipio DualPro
I purchased my Incipio DualPro from an AT&T store ($35 + tax) just to have something to protect the phone while I figure out what I really want as far as a case. I went in to get the cheapest thing they had but really liked the look of the fake carbon fiber which looks even better in person. But, the silicone layer is so loose and floppy that even with the stiff Plextonium frame:laugh:, it won't hold its shape leaving the bezel exposed where the fancy named frame isn't. This case had the makings of a winner.
Love this look:
Hate this:
Returned to AT&T store today!
The outer shell is plastic. It has the appearence of the knurling you see on a ratchet handle for example. In person it looks good and has a better feel than that of the Otterbox counterpart. The bulk of the case is about the same as the commuter, it is designed for protection and those who would avoid the Otterbox commuter for that reason would want to avoid it as well. That said it is slighly less bulky than its commuter counterpart because it is thinner.
As to protection there are no sure proofs, no 1000 phones dropped and here is the absolute numbers, test. You have to look at the case and make a judgement. The casemate clearly covers the corners better and has a better fit which combined with what are visibly better materials means you can pretty much figure your phone has a better chance than it does in the commuter. There is no sure thing. I had my S2 and then S3 both in the same case for those phones and while I haven't dropped the S4 yet I did have occasion to drop both of those several times and neither suffered a scratch although again no case will protect against bad luck.
In regards to the colors, I've no idea. I always go black so have never looked. Best bet might be to check the case out in a store. Its popular enough that I noticed our AT&T shop here had some on the shelf for S3s. Or if you have a case kiosk at the mall they will likely have one and you can check out the material yourself. Casemate has many other cases but I have no experience with them. I was Otterbox all the way till I ran into the toughcase which just plain out commuters the commuter at its own game. IMO
Looking at the dimensions of all the products, it looks like Casemate is the bulkiest, with Otterbox second, and Incipio DualPro the least bulkiest.
The one thing I'm not a fan of the Casemate from the pictures is that there seems to be more open exposed areas, especially at the top.
I ordered the Dual Pro case and have been waiting for it to come in.... I bought the Body Glove Dimensions case from the T-Mobile store just to have something on it until the Dual Pro case came in...The Dual Pro case looked really nice in the store but I want the white and gray one that they didn't have.. Now I'm hearing all the crappy reviews about the Dual Pro case and I'm having buyers remorse...Maybe I will get one from a good batch that will fit like a glove...UNLIKELY!!!! Anyway the Body Glove Dimensions case feels really good in my hand and looks nice however it doesn't protect anything just nice and slim.

Im not sure where you are getting your dimensions from but I can tell you from actually having both in my hand with the S3 the toughcase is slimmer. Since it appears that the Commuter is a reboot with a few minor changes just as the toughcase is for S4 I'm pretty sure you are going to see the same thing again. Also the only openings on the tough case are where the IR and headphone jacks are and the same applies on the bottom where there is no opening other than the two ports there. The Otterbox possesses exactly the same openings in their case and then unlike the otterbox the casemate piece does not have the wide open corners which are the single most likely spot for the phone to hit in a drop.
lol Sometimes you just cant let a favorite go, I do it myself. Either way you're getting a good case that stands a real chance of saving your overpriced ludicrously profitable for Samsung device so its all good. :good:

You do have to remember that those that have problems are usually the ones that take to online to complain, so just take all the amount of bad stuff with a grain of salt.

:silly: I think on the corners, they both go about it differently, Otterbox has the silicone there, and casemate has both, with the plastic outside. Bet they both have their own science reasons for doing it that way lol.
I'll wait it out a little while longer before deciding. I think my biggest concern about the casemate is that I won't like how the textured back feels.
