I found a thread here on xda with beautiful icons: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=533993 . Now the big question for me is how can I change the standard icons with an icon from that thread ? I am using winmo 6.1
If your ROM is 6.5 then you can use re/Start http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=481379. For Folder icons you can browse here http://www.iconspedia.com/pack/pry-black-1686/.
To change the tab icons I use Max TF3D Theme Maker. The icons can usually be found as a manila file that this app can then install to your phone. Some tab icon sets can also be found as cab files that just install themselves to your phone. Either way you can get the look you want.
Hello all,
So to start yes I've used google and yes I've searched. But I can't seem to bring up the answers I'm looking for.
I'm interested in theming my own icons or at least changing some that others have to to suite my own desires. I've read up on some things for Android icons here. But I was curious as to what other people use/prefer.
As in which to use Fireworks or Photoshop?
Or what the best dimensions are for icons?
And is it best to make them into an APK for easy use?
I couldn't find a how to guide for theming icons specifically but if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Flawless
P.S. Sorry if some of these have really easy answers. Just starting out with changing things on my own.
Which Icons...
Notification icons?
or
App Icons?
or
Other?
I was typing a response and realize you could be talking about three different icons which have different sizes and are in different locations. Notifications are /system/framework and App icons are just shortcuts. Use bettercut from the market, for the latter. As for size 72x72 px for hdpi screens.

Well in the immediate future I was looking to make my own icon theme pack. Then jump into framework, which I know can be a bit more complicated.
So my original questions were in regardes to strictly application icons and a launcher pro dock.
Also I personally use desktop visualizer to customize my icons.
Thanks again for your response

I'm interested in this as well. I really would like to know how to change the stock folder icons from the plain manila to something more appealing. A starting guide would be great.

So after re-reading the webpage that I found and that you linked again, it clarified it a bit. I'm now more just curious as to the programs most people prefer. I know some editors use fireworks but some use photoshop. Which do you personally like (or which may be easier for a semi-noob to start off with)? Or is there another program that you use?
Thanks again,

Here is how I change my homescreen icons if using LauncherPro:
While you could download another app to make custom icons for your homescreens, I figure, why not just use LauncherPro since we already have it installed. Here is a simple tutorial to make a shortcut to have an app open like regular but with a custom icon:
1. Determine the app's package and class names:
-Add a LauncherPro Activities shortcut to your homescreen. Find the app you want and expand it. The options you see are your class names. We will use the HTC Sense World Clock as an example. Usually the default page the app opens to will be the first option, so in this case...
Class name: com.htc.android.worldclock.WorldClockTabControl
The package name is usually derived from the class name, mainly by removing the last part of the name. So, in this case...
Package name: com.htc.android.worldclock
Sometimes you may have to remove the 2nd to last part of the name, if its something like "*.chompsms.activities". You don't need the activities section. Just back out of adding the shortcut now, we have all the info we need. Now we can make our shortcut.
2. Add a new LauncherPro Shortcut to your homescreen and use the built in editor. Simply fill in the Shortcut Label (whatever you want to name it), Package name, and Class name. Leave the Action field as is. Browse your SD card for a custom icon (I suggest surfing to http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/), save your.lps file, and you're done!
This probably won't work for all apps, but should work for most.

I think you misunderstood the question a bit. I was talking about creating or modifing icons in photoshop or fireworks. Not necessarily how to apply them to the phone.
Although I'm sure what you posted will help some people.
Thanks for the response though.

Oh ok, well in that case:
http://launcherpro.droidicon.com/tutorials
Most will use Photoshop to make icons. A good size to stay at would be 128x128 IMO. Even though Android uses smaller resolution icons, it's better to downscale than to upscale. I would save as a .PNG to preserve your transparency.

Awesome thanks! This will be a great place to start. Is it the same process to edit the Icons for a normal homescreen shortcut? I would assume so or at least it looks to be.
Thanks again,

Yes, it should be. You would use BetterCut or LauncherPro to edit the shortcut icons once you have them made.

Thank you for adding it
Nice app! But why it is 95MB big? This is the biggest app size i have ever seen.
BTW: Tried to use it but the "smart cover view" doesn't fit. I can see my smart cover picture, but after installing it isn’t visible at the design app.
Very good indeed!! Are we going to have any update? I was wondering if we could change the contacts and calls style. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for your hardwork! But I can't install it! Everything seems fine, and when it started to install, the installer just disappeared! Nothing happens!

because all possible graphics are coming with it
btw.:
Tried to use it on a old Samsung N7000. No problem! It is possible to use it on an other device, but you have to create folder "HWThemes" on internal sd to be able to save your work. But than you are of curse not able to test your themes.
And: The app doesn’t work if you are not connected to internet! (necessary for advertising only!)
I've installed the Theme Editor, and I'd like to know where I can find different sets of icons for the navigation panel (Back/Home etc.). Do I need to download a whole set of themes to find nav-panel icons to import?
Thanks in advance for your help!
I've been playing with the theme editor for some time and it works quite fine on my P10. The only thing is that some icons do not resize wel if I make them smaller. E.g. the Gmail and Camera icons' height is too big compared to their width. Any solution would be appreciated.
Installed and played a bit this evening and now I am stuck in a bit of a rainbow mess unable to install or customise a theme from the Huawei theme app.
Plz help

I am from iran and my phone in huawei p10 lite (was-lx1a)
Plz help me sir
This app is a great time saver.
One thing Idon’t get yet. What is the definiton of a icon pack? Is it a zip file with a different extention?
How do you make / get an icon pack?
I ask this because when I try to change app icons there is a dropdown list to choose an icon pack. But the dropdown list is empty.
Inside a theme file you have a zip file called “icons” with the extention removed.
If the theme file is also considered to be the icon pack I would expect all downloaded themes in the dropdown list.
I'm looking at creating an icon pack and was wondering if anyone knows of any websites where I can (search and) download any icons for the multitude of apps that are out there?
Thanks

I have the one for LG Launcher. I guess you could extract icons and assemble your own theme with them. (there's an app on Google Play - themeGalaxy - which you could use to make a icon-only or even a full Samsung theme).

Thank you , I'm now master of theme park and downloaded similar icons I could find and also I go beyond the customization I mean made my own version of my mobiles I had in the past with color picker, some of my theme has 2 style.
Android: Uses original Android colors (color picker app) in 2 style dark and light mode, icons by Cameron Bunch (original Google icons) and I also have original keyboard color (Gboard).
I also designed or created volume panel color for my theme.
Retro Style (My mobiles in the past): like above (Android) except all I done used my memories from past or internet searches and color picker app I created my old version of my mobiles with similar icons.
I'm master of theme park or customization (not really but I only samsung apps for this job so no claim on everything I know about everything )
Also here is a video that make your customization go beyond (check channel):

Can you explain to me what you did? I am trying to make a theme that ONLY changes some icons (more specifically removes their white background), whilst using a dark theme.
