Hi,
I used CF-ROOT for I9003 on my GF's 9003, however, I found that it include the CWM recovery and it overwrite the original recovery. Why not deploy a simple root like 9001 did.
Following is the root file for 9001, you can just flash the zip file in recovery.
Easy ROOT/UNROOT from Recovery Mode
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1253707
Do yo want to brick ours phones? Flashing things form i9001?
Do a search, a simple root .zip is available, but you need a CWM recovery to install it.
Other than that, try super one click. V 1.95 seems to work if not the latest version.
What's wrong with CWM though? It doesn't change much and adds a more comprehensive recovery module over a stock kernel. Cf-root uses the same but adds root and other enhancements.
And please post any questions to the general section henceforth.

I can't use Rebooter now(a application which can restart, power off the phone without the physical power button)
BTW, it seems the root for 9003 is different on differemt ROM, however, I can use the one for 9001 on all Roms.
Please post questions in the general section....

I'm sure my phone is rooted with one-click as Rom Manager does not display a warning about not be rooted.
I've tried all the versions of CWM except ATT, etc., and none of them will allow me to do anything but reboot my phone.
What am I missing? I've read far and wide and can't find an answer regarding the correct CWM. Is it just not possible to do?
Thanks for any guidance. And again I appreciate the helpfulness of this forum.

Please pay some attention to the very forum you are posting in. As has been widely discussed, CWM is not out yet for the Sidekick 4g. It is being worked on in the post directly adjacent to yours:

Also, questions go in the general forum, not the development forum.
Thanks to all
Some how I just didn't notice the post re: CWM work. Please accept my apologies.

I just tried that and it says "Current Recovery: ClockworkMod 4.0.0.2". Yet when I boot in to recovery mode it seems to be the stock recovery. Gonna try a different method now.
the cwm from rom manager is buggy afaik
you should install cwm manually, it isn't very hard and the instructions are in the cwm thread

It works with a temp CWM. Not much more hassle than having a fully installed CWM, and it works. I used the steps in this thread:

If there is a more permanent version, please let me know... not that I have a custom mod yet

This thread is old.
Try flashing the Bali or Platypus kernel and use red (voodoo) cwm.
Even on a stock rom, you should be using a third party kernel.
The dirty little secret around here is that switching out the kernel is the heart and soul of the every custom hosted here. The customs are basically rethemed touchwiz, with some apps switched out, and a few scripts. But, the real difference maker is the kernel.

It's been successfully rooted with POOT.
It has also been rooted via CWM by Area51 Here for CWM and then Here for Root! I did find some ROM development going on at Area51 as well here. Area51's CWM does not appear to play nice with any phone rooted with Poot however so it's best to install CWM from Area51 first and then use their root method.

The root method used at A51 is out-of-date, and can't be updated. Therefore, you'll continuously receive an update notification and won't be able to stop it.

Not True! All you have to do is just not install the update when it boots you into CWM. This will be fixed when they complete the ROM they're working on. I don't get update reminders after accepting the first one and just not installing it once in recovery mode at the install screen!

You might want to wait for Area51 to complete their first ROM for the phone. Currently it has an annoying update that keeps trying to install over the rooted stock OS that will break root if you install it. Of course you can just keep clicking on accept and then selecting NO when you get to the install update screen in CWM like I do, but it's an annoyance.

What's the best method of returning this phone back stock is there a flashable firmware or tar file?
Does anyone know what has become of Androidarea51 ??
I've been trying to access that site for some time and it always fails to load.
It has been mentioned in this thread as a source for rooting this model of phone and I've just been given one & would like to root it...

Before I start I would like to thank you in advance for dedicating your time to help me here (assuming that you did).I couldn't find the answers on the forums even though I searched.
1. Is there any way to backup my 2.2.1 froyo rom along with the kernel and baseband and EVERYTHING to make sure that if I take it back for repairs they can't accuse me of anything?
2. I have P500H and not the normal P500 mentioned in these forums, is there any risk of brick by flashing another rom designed for P500? And if it does work, will all of my cellular connectivity (RIL, calls, sms, 3G) keep working?
