[Tutorial] D2G GSM band unlock--Worked on 330 to GB - Droid 2 Global General

We all know GSM band unlock is available on Froyo.
Now we can update to GB with Froyo's baseband, so it works too.
Here is more information : http://rootzwiki.com/topic/8326-d2g-gingerbread-hack-for-us-band-unlockers/
I'm curious, it says the GSM band unlock only works on 2.4.29's radio
But for me, it works on 2.4.330 very well. I never SBF 2.4.29, I always SBF 2.4.330 and use the unlock directly.

Unlock GSM 850/1900 fq, so it works on T-Moblie too.

Since you're with AT&T, are you able to get 3G too?

what if I update my phone to the current official version, How can I unlock the baseband?

The link to step 4 does not work...

That's because you couldn't follow the thread link. (That's a perilous endeavour, took me at least 5 secods.)

Simply pointing out that a link is wrong is what we should do. Looks like a spell check is a more perilous endeavor in your case.

Well, I assumed you knew the link was wrong, because it had no URI path element in it, which was kind of obvious.
Mind pointing out where exactly do I need spell checking? I would appreciate it. Unless you mean a mistype like “seconds”.

All the links work with #4 being the exception. Why not have a complete guide here? Sarcasm does not help the many that come here seeking assistance.

That link seems to be copy-pasted as text directly from a page, not from the source. As many forums tend to shorten visible parts of URLs, it was damaged when copied. That's about it.

with this I can unlock my sim locked D2G ? and use it to make phone calls?

No, this will not remove the sim lock protection off your phone. It will remove the restriction of using US GSM based providers such as AT&T and T-Mobile US, that Verizon implemented. This is NOT a sim unlocking solution.

I was about to point that out. The methods of previous model that prior known to work is EXACT SAME, just the little app which allows us to access that menu for S4. I also would like to know about band 2600 and if it stays intact for Rogers/Bell.

Perfect. If you have Rogers sim, you should be able to get 2600 if you force it since most places get it unless you're in a area which doesn't. Maybe do a speed test to make sure but yeah it makes sense that it stays intact.
Folks,
Would it be necessary to change it back to MTP or MTP+ADB mode when done?

If you see my screenshot, the phone remained on B7 (2600) with 20MHZ (that is how we verify it is indeed LTE 2600). No need to worry about it "sticking". That being said, I won't be caught dead going out and getting a Rogers SIM card...ever
Would this re-lock the phone, if I unlocked it using the ServiceMenu method (i.e. not using a code)?
EDIT:
To answer my own question; patching the supplied .qcn *will not* re-lock the phone if it was unlocked using the ServiceMenu method.

Best news ever for all S4 users.
would this have to be redone if at&t or alike releases a firmware OTA that updates the phone modem?
I am in sensory overload with all the bootloader excitement today and am trying to get this AWS TMO thing straight in my head. I have been bouncing back and forth between the the TMO threads and the AT&T threads trying to stay up to date and now am just utterly confused.
If I do this mod to my rooted and sim unlocked AT&T i337 and then put a TMO sim card in it I should be able to get the faster 3G connection speeds instead of being stuck on Edge speeds? Depending on my area and service availability of course.
Is this what I am getting with the AWS enabling? Or do we still need to flash a different modem to enable fully the TMO frequencies on the AT&T phones?

Yes you should be able to get faster 3G connection as well.

SIM Unlock = Any SIM can be used
AWS Enable = T-Mobile 3G / 4G on 1700/2100 will work in addition to 1900 and LTE.
These are two different ideas.
The one you were asking is to unlock your phone which you already did, and the method listed here is to let you access AWS network.

[HELP] Derped by new Z3 (or maybe it's SIM Locked)

I broke my Z3 and got a replacement a few days ago.
After I flashed pre-rooted 23.4.A.0.546, linked here, the he replacement shows the dreaded Invalid Card. Emergency calls only:

}
I never tested the device, I went directly for the root, ZX discovery and pre-rooted flash.
As quick explanation:
I got the device.
I never inserted a SIM, I immediately followed the instruction to root a Z3 with a locked BL:
- downgraded phone with D6603_23.0.A.2.93 ftf linked here.
- ran giofroot exploit. used v3.1. had to run it twice.
- mounted /system rw with ES Explorer.
- installed Z3 Dualrecovery for locked BL.
- then flashed 23.4.A.0.546 linked here.
Phone turned on without a hitch.
When I placed the SIM, I noticed the Invalid Card notice.
Tried (and failed) attempts:
Since then, I've rolled back to D6603_23.0.A.2.93.
Installed PC Companion (eeew) and done a system repair.
Downloaded the latest firmware from xperifirm for Telcel's branded ROM.
nothing. device still says Invalid Card.
a few screenshots that might help someone get a better understanding of what happened;
can anyone confirm if I have a SIM-locked device or if I flashed the wrong firmware?
How can I roll back? what measurements can I take to better understand the problem?

Maybe this is important; when I downgraded the first time, I checked the following exemptions:

You did it wrong. NEVER check to exclude FOTA BASEBAND AND KERNEL.
baseband is what controls the radio (network) and it is very important. Flash again properly and don't check anything in exclude, but ALL in WIPE. In downgrade you MUST wipe everything.

Is there a way to know which carrier is locking the device? Besides trying Sims from each carrier, I mean.

No, but it is not probable that it is simlocked. It is almost 100% because you have wrong Baseband / Firmware combination. The older firmware (downgraded) does not support newer baseband you left in the device unflashed.
so I tried two different flashes including FOTA, BB and Kernel;
- D6603_23.0.A.2.93 from the original OP.
- latest firmware from xperifirm for Telcel's branded ROM; 23.4.A.0.546
in both cases, i left the entire Exception section unticked.
in both cases, after initual bootup, I still get the "Invalid Card." warning.
I'd like to start discarding possibilities.
- can flashing affect SIM lock? either way, locking or unlocking devices? My understanding is that it shouldn't. Could someone please confirm?
- is there a way with which carrier the devices is locked? The screenshot shows a [X] on network lock with a 5.
is there a way to find out that does not involve getting SIMs from every carrier?

Flash only firmware from XperiFirm. Others of unknown origin can be provider specific. However, the SIM LOCK is firmware independent.
I omitted some of your pictures. The X mark on Network means that is IS provider LOCKED and you have 5 retries to enter unlock code.

[HOW-TO] SIM unlock US Cellular Moto G 2015 XT1548

Warning: This guide requires unlocking the bootloader, which will void your warranty.
Confirmed working for T-Mobile/MetroPCS. I welcome other XT1548 users to try this process for themselves.
1) Unlock the bootloader, install a recovery, and root the device. Follow instructions in this forum already as other people have made much higher quality guides than I could make.
2) Perform the tutorial located here to flash XT1540 modem and associated files: http://forum.xda-developers.com/2015-moto-g/help/tuto-fastboot-erase-signal-t3451362
3) Flash the latest version of CM13: https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=osprey
4) Install GApps/all other necessary apps for CM13
5) Dial *#*#4636#*#* to switch to LTE/GSM (auto) mode
6) Enter the correct APN for your carrier
7) Enjoy your GSM unlocked device!
Few remarks: it may not be needed to flash the XT1540 files. It seems like the block is only on US Cellular's software. But I'm leaving the step added in as it is what worked for me. Any suggestions for polishing the tutorial would be appreciated.
A few photos: (note that this was done on an active SIM, but without paid for service. 611 works correctly, as does the T-Mobile/MetroPCS portal).

Wrong, by default the XT1548 only gets LTE signal. Even setting/forcing GSM on in the testing menu does not allow it to get service for talk/text on T-Mobile.

Thats weird. The best I can get for GSM on my Sprint variant is International sim. For the international sim, it works without any issues on stock rom. USC might be a little different.
Is there any type of updated guide for this because I have the XT1548 and I have had no luck with unlocking it. Any tips would be extremely useful.

P20 Pro GPU Turbo update - VoLTE for all supported carriers

What I did?
1. Unlocked bootloader
2. Installed TWRP
3. Installed Magisk using TWRP
4. Using ES explorer edited vendor/build.config to enable VOLTE for Airtel
5. Using Settings Editor app enabled 4G only mode.
6. Hide magisk for bank apps.
7. Using HuRUpdater method updated to latest firmware with GPU turbo

150 fw was released for 636 for more than a week already.
152 was just released for 432 recently.
Hey, thanks for quick reply, can you hep me with something, don't want to brick my device.
i'm on huawei P20 PRO, bought it unbranded, i'm in France, i unlocked the bootloader and rooted the stock ROM ( magisk ) with custom TWRP , did not do anything else at this day. ( pic attched )
i'm on 131C432, i want to manually update the update to "152"C432 with GPU turbo ( pic attached from app Huawei Firmware Finder ), i saw full firmaware was available ( see pic attached )
My question is, can update with HuRUpdater method following the steps from the HuRUpdater Thread, without debranding, rebranding etc......... it won't relock my bootloader right , i'll just place his recovery into .zip to keep custom TWRP, flash full 152C432, then root.
thanks for lighting me the situation i'm into
Yes you can flash it via hurupdater no need to relock BL or rebrand or rebrand. If you want to keep twrp put the twrp.img (renamed to recovery.img) in the same folder with the fw and hurupdater.zip
hi there, can you elaborate on this?
4. Using ES explorer edited vendor/build.config to enable VOLTE for Airtel
5. Using Settings Editor app enabled 4G only mode.
will this work on other networks outside India? I´m in Vodafone Portugal, and all set with my sim but there is no way to get volte to work.

If you have rooted your phone successfully, Install ES explorer, In the menu allow root explorer.
THEN
GO TO DEVICE, SELECT SYSTEM-> VENDOR-> BUILD.PROP
IN BULID.PROP YOU FIND THE LINE COMMAND
ro.config.hw_volte_on=true
ADD THIS COMMAND LINE AFTER THE LINE
ro.config.hw_volte_dyn=false
it should be like this ro.config.hw_volte_on=true
ro.config.hw_volte_dyn=false
AFTER ADDING SAVE AND REBOOT YOUR PHONE.

I got the firmware from here.
http://pro-teammt.ru/firmware-database/?firmware_model=Clt-l29c636&firmware_page=0
By pressing filelist you will see three links, Download all and rename as per HuRUpdater method requirements and you are ready to go.

I´ve done that on an previous firmware version and it didn´t work. No VoLTE, not even the option to change on the call settings. Are you sure it´s working on all suported carriers?
Anyone else outside India tested this?

Technically If your bands are built into the modem and restricted by region model it can be enables. For me, I have bought a Singapore Model and in India the device is not showing enabling VoLTE for carrier Airtel although it shows for a 4G only carrier JIO. I used this mod to get VoLTE on Airtel too.
So your issue might be the LTE band used for VoLTE itself not supported by the modem.

thing is,
my carrier band is exactly the same as JIO
so it definitely not about the band
do you set manual APN for your VoLTE btw ?
i tried setting up IMS apn, but everytime i save it, it disappear from APN list

I havent set Manual APN I left whatever carrier set. Giving false to the volte_dyn setting will give you an option to enable volte in network settings. Thats what I did.
Above that I am unsure what is happening in your part of the region.

Question [SOLVED] M127F stuck with Russia (SER) CSC after flashing Brazil ROM and later trying to flash back to XEO

So I wanted to try something so I flashed the Brazil ROM. tried to flash back to XEO but now in the settings it says "SER/SER,SER/XEO" and when resetting installs Russian bloatware. What can I do to restore the XEO ROM?
Dis you do a factory reset?

That is weird. Full Brazilian stock firmware set? AP, BL, CP and CSC_OMC_ODM? Once the device is restarted after flashing get into the recovery straight away (hold power + volume up with the USB cable connected to PC). Don't let it boot Android! In the recovery do Factory Reset, format the data partition (if it's possible in the stock recovery, I don't remember) and wipe all the caches and only then boot the system. Also try removing the SIM card before flashing and also do the first boot of Android without SIM (although it shouldn't matter but who knows).

I remember that when I did disassembling of the Prism partition of different country versions I've discovered that most of the European firmwares contain the full set of Russian bloatware. In fact, all the firmwares with the size of more than 5 GB are all nearly identical in regards of bloatware included. So I can suggest you to temporarily install a Nepal or Papua New Guinea firmware, do the factory reset with it, go fully through the setup process, and then try again to flash the Brazilian version. It may help. Or you can stay with the Nepalese firmware, it's quite minimalistic and includes Samsung Pay (if you need it).

ok but the m127f model doesnt have a nepal or papua new guinea firmware
Try Bolivia: https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-M127F/BVO
The general rule of thumb is the smaller firmware is the less bloated it is. Also prefer firmware for the poor and commercially unpromising countries, the so-called "3rd world".
sorry for reviving this thread but is there a way to get lte back? all i want is "good" mobile data and lte works good on my huawei, so can i get it back on my samsung without somehow changing the csc? (the carrier i use is Play in Poland)
after around 8 months, today i finally got my lte back via the samfw frp tool
