A4 paper - Galaxy Note GT-N7000 Themes and Apps

Is there an app for stylus drawing on a4 paper with zoom features because clearly would be difficulty to write and see the whole page?
I really need this feature rather than making small notes...i suppose blank page pdf in qpdf might sufficr but atm the free.draw icon only lets you draw for a few seconds? n e 1?

one thing i have noticed is that when you print the s memos you can select a4 and they look ok (ish) when printed out...

hmm well i guess its worth a try, but i cant be scanning them all to my main computer again. Im going to be testing soon what file format s memos are saved in and then see if its possible to convert to pdf. reason is, i need the 'memos' on my main computer.

*.jpg format. Why convert to pdf?

hmm. jpeg is ok then it can go straight to word. the point is though s memo isn't good at all for zooming in and out and then writing with the pen as if it were a real a4 page so i was looking for a different app. ill have to test jpeg convertion of them to word tomorrow as i cant shuitdown my pc to re-install and get kies running today. long story
but ill try the zoom in s memo again

There's an app called handwrite though I've not tried printing. Bit hard in beginning because of features

JPG looks like crap on vector/text (since the compression is hard). Use PNG.

Make Panorama (Stitch together shots from actual camera)

I realize there are a few apps out there that let you make a panorama by taking photos with your tablet but I was wondering if there are any apps that you can take pictures from your gallery (copied from an SD card or elsewhere) and stitch them together to make a panorama. Have searched around but haven't found much, does an app like this exist yet?

Microsoft ICE works very well!

You can use my app, Photaf 3D Panorama to do this.
However, it will require to copy and name some files, but it can be achieved.
If you want to stitch from the Desktop computer, Microsoft ICE is the way to go.
It is free and does an excellent job at stitching.

Yeah I didn't clarify well that I was looking to do it right on tablet. I can try it with photaf. What sort of renaming needs to be done?
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
Hi,
The naming should be something like this:
sdcard:\Photaf\MyName\PhotafPic0.jpg
sdcard:\Photaf\MyName\PhotafPic1.jpg
sdcard:\Photaf\MyName\PhotafPic2.jpg
sdcard:\Photaf\MyName\PhotafPic3.jpg
....
Files should be ordered from left to right.
MyName can be whatever folder name you want.
You will also need to create a file called PhotafPanoramaConfig.cfg, containing:
{"m_PanoramaCoverage":360,"m_IsStitched":true,"m_Angle":0}
After placing the files, load it. press the menu button and select "restitch".
It should stitch it.
Let me know if that works

Question regarding PDF apps.

It seems I have tried all of the major PDF annotation apps and one thing seems odd to me. It seems that there isn't one where a tool you are using remains persistent.
For example if i want to use the highlighter, the moment I am done highlighting a section the highlighter tool turns off and i have to click it again to highlight another passage.
So if i am going through a textbook or article and want to highlight passages I am interested in I have to keep clicking the highlighter icon over and over again. Its hard to imagine the developers made it this way on purpose but they all seem to do this.
Am I missing something? Is there some way to make the highlighter tool remain on?
Thanks.

I think that's exactly how they're designed. The problem being, is that I don't think there are any Pdf apps designed to be used with the pen. For instance, lecture notes allows you to write with the pen and scroll with your finger. That's what we need in a PDF app. A Setting where a finger will not create an annotation-- but will work for scrolling and zooming-- and the pen will annotate but not scroll or zoom. Hopefully more apps will appear that are optimized for use with the pen.
Well we can import pdf files into Snote and mark them up there. You just dost habeas the typical markup tools.

Hi,
I use Lecture Notes to put notes onto pdf files.
First I cranked up the import quality in settings.
Go to notebook overview and import pdf as new pages.
Add another layer, that way markup can be added and deleted without deleting through the pdf.
For highlighting I use a yellow custom pen and adjust to fat with tweaked alpha and softness.
Hope this helps.

Nice! Thanks. Much better. Have you figured out a way to import screenshots into LN? I tried last night and couldn't get it to work right.

hey, that Kno textbook app that comes preloaded loads pdfs much faster than snote and the highlight tool remained persistent while flipping pages for me. You could give that a shot?
I figured out how to get the snaps into LN. Don't know why it wouldn't work last night.

The guide says I can import and you say S Note can import but there is no option to import on my Note 10.1 S Note. What am I missing?
When you first open the app hit the menu button then import.

I was just messing around with ezpdf and have just discovered that you can do the above! If you look at the annotation toolbar in ezpdf, you will notice that the same tool is highlighted twice e.g. the highlight text icon, the only difference being that there is a small "c" below the tool icon.
If you click on the highlight text that has the "c" on it, you can continue to highlight different parts of the text until you click the done arrow, this feature can be used with any of the tools that have the "c" shown on the tool. You can also customise the tool bar to show only the tools that you will be interested in.

With this forum and its members, the Galaxy Note tablet and the right apps and knowing how to use them and discovering new features, the Note 10.1 for me is on a daily basis becoming the ultimate productivity tool. So far, I have not been tempted by any other tablet which is extremely rare as I constantly update my devices. At home or at work, I can't put it down as there is something useful that the note can do better or more conveniently than my other devices.
Does anyone know if there is a way to do highlights on a PDF that is not OCR'd? EZpdf and Iannotate only allow the highlighter to be used on OCR'd documents.
I have a lot of scanned documents that have handwritten notes, and I'd like to be able to highlight those things. Essentially it would be like drawing ontop of the PDF with the highlighter tool, much like the pen tool.

In ezpdf, you can use the freehand tool and go into its options, choose the colour you want to highlight in and then make the opacity lower and choose the pen size. This will allow you to highlight none OCR'ed documents.
Can anyone recommend a PDF app that I can use on Android to delete individual PDF pages(not PDF files, and individual pages within a PDF)

Polaris corrupting Word doc line breaks?

I saw a thread listed for the Transformer Prime similar to this, but none here.
While travelling, I used Polaris and a bluetooth keyboard to work on a paper I'd started at my PC, in Word .docx format. (I use Dropbox and Dropsync on my GNote to keep the files synced.)
I was really happy with how well Polaris seemed to work as a Word compatible tool, especially with the BT keyboard. I also have OfficePro and DocsToGo Pro, which I had used interchangeably prior to this, but Polaris seemed like a possible all-in-one replacement. As a note, my main issue with DocsToGo is that it won't open a lot of inserted images and tables within Word docs. OfficePro and Polaris display them, DocsToGo often just puts in a square outline of them, with text "unsupported format" or similar. (They are screen grabs pasted in, not any unusual formats. Go figure.)
Well, I just opened up the Word doc on my PC. The good news is that the ten pages I added while traveling are there, so I won't have to rewrite them.
But the bad news is that Polaris somehow corrupted hundreds of line breaks/word wraps. So now, inexplicably, the word mortgage is split on to two lines as "mo" and "rtgage." This error is repeated throughout the document. Worse, the error is not only at the start and end of lines where it is easy to find, but some words are split in the middle of a line, such as "e conomy."
Anyone else see this behavior before?
-JC
EDIT: Thankfully, Dropbox is awesome and automatically caches previous versions, so I only have to fix the pages I added while travelling and paste them in to the previous properly formatted version.
I have this exact same issue as well, and it persists when copying and pasting the text to a word doc. I don't have a solution, just wanted to add my voice to hopefully get this resolved.

I did find a workaround for this issue just right now. Simply copy the text from the corrupted Word doc to Notepad, then re-copy the text from Notepad and back into a new Word doc. The formatting is lost, but so is the annoying text wrapping.

A faster way with the same results is to clear all formatting of the text. Select this option from the Style menu. Offcourse, afterwords you should format again. You will see Polaris messed up all standard Word styles...
To fix this problem in Word, open the document, in the Styles menu - Change Styles - Style Set - Reset to Quick Styles from Template. Save the doc, re-open it and it should be fixed.

[Q] Photo Note

Hi All,
the GN 10.1 offers the possibility to add a Photo Note to your pictures. You can essentially "virtually flip" the photo and write on the reverse side. I really like this feature to be able to keep notes together with the photos.
Is is it possible to back up these "flip sides" and keep them in sync if you need to do a reformat of the data and then restore the photos (together with the notes). Where are these located and is it possible to back them up to dropbox.
I have looked around and cold not find them and I could not find any back-up or sync option.
Many Thanks
I'm not sure what app or feature you are referring to, but anyway one should be able to find where the app store its data and then sync that folder using foldersync or some similar application. Try write on a picture, save and go to the folder handler. If sorted by date, the folder that the app is saving in should be on the very top of the folder structure.

The app is the standard gallery app on the stock rom. If you are looking at a photo you can go to the menu and there is the function "add photo note". It flips the photo and you can write on the back (just like you could do on the old paper photos). I looked but I just can't find the files. Maybe it is some type of propriety file format instead of a picture format.
I would just like to be able to back up these notes so you don't lose them.
Any ideas anyone.

I checked too and there's just an empty folder saying "image notes". However, when I'm checking the DCIM folder where the images are I can see that the image seemed to be edited the time I did the note, so maybe it's embedding it in the picture somehow. But when I uploaded it to Dropbox and opened it in the galley from there the note where lost so apparently not.. The only thing I can imagine is that the note is a hidden file in the folder and therefore doesn't show, have you tried using the computer or another file browser?
Sent from my GT-N8010 using xda app-developers app
Yes the same thing happened to me when I tried to restore the photo. Shame really, I really like just writing on the back of the photos but if I can't backup them up or even export them I just fear they will go lost and therfore the function has only short time limited use. I don't have access to a laptop for a few weeks so I can't check it from the laptop.
Thanks for looking and trying. Really appreciate it.

+1 Brilliant app!
I have literally tried every note taking app that exists, and the best one by far that I have come across is LectureNotes. It does not convert handwritten to text, or resize the notes that you write like supernote (comes stock with infinity), but the format of the writing is the perfect size (regarding the page and the writing), and the features it has are out of this world. I have used it for a ton of classes. I will have a ppt running and on specific slides that instructors comment on, I can take a screenshot of it and then add it to my note page. You can make pages and pages and then export them to PDF. If you prefer text, you can type also. Seriously, check it out. It also works with an app called recorded lectures that will synchronize audio playback with your writing with the audio recorded during while you were writing.
@Turin87: Many thanks for your kind comments. In case `resize the notes´ refers to writing large on the display and getting your notes scaled down and inserted at a `cursor´ position, note that LectureNotes has an input method called `input zone´ that does that.
Of course, are you the dev? And thanks for letting me in on that. I have actually become accustomed to the format of just simply writing on the paper. It actually feels more authentic as though I was really taking notes on a real notepad. And there isnt the issue with having to wait for the resizing to happen.
