Hi,
not sure if anyone else uses this site! but it is nothing short of AMAZING!
they sell everything! CHEAP! with free delivery around the world also...

I love dealextreme :d

bought this one this summer for my Desire Z ... works perfectly but the charging time is not so great...
Genuine Micro-USB HTC charger delivers ~750mA
this one frome DX delivers only 250-300mA when the Desire Z is docked

you think a g2 with a mugen 3600mah would fit inside? looks close...

nope ... because the bigger battery cover it won't fit on the cradle

My DZ charger says 1A on it.

1A is the max output the charger can deliver it's not the power he will deliver all the time...
if you install the widget app "BatteryMonitor" from the market you will see how much power your phone use when it's on charge.

Is it true that different chargers will affect battery life? I mean once we charge it to 100%, shouldn't the battery discharge at the same rate under the same usage even though we use a different charger to charge it up?

the only thing I have noticed that affects battery life is that deep discharging the battery (below 20%) causes early battery death - I have learned this the hard way!

Aww dang, I have the habit of running my battery till the red before charging it. Guess I gotta change my habit. LOL!

[Q] Emergency Battery Charger

Hi Guys,
I am looking for an Emergency Battery Charger for Desire HD.
Mainly i want something on the cheap and light to carry. Here is what i have found. Please help me, which one should i buy:
1)350MAH EMERGENCY BATTERY CHARGER
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/350MAH-EMERGE...sAccessories_PDABatteries&hash=item27b565b877
2)Proporta USB Turbocharger 1200
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Proporta-30...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1289178938&sr=1-1
3)USB 7 In 1 Emergency Battery Charger 48000mAh (Not sure if this will work)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-7-1-Emerg...ories_MobilePhoneChargers&hash=item35ad2b52c4
4)1500mAh Extended Backup
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Extended-Back...709?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item45f6a04fa5
the first one seems rubbish, only 350mah? and the output current is half that of a usb port.. i don't think it will even charge your phone at all and probably only slow down the battery discharge.
I've found this one:

It'll arrive today so I can say how it works only this evening.

i bought the first one (it was really cheap) and have it on my keyring with my keys, yes, of course it only slows down the battery dying, what did you expect? it is a tiny battery for EMERGENCY use, not a backup battery that can fully charge your phone multiple time for god's sake!
anyway, from 15% battery it charged it to 80% in about 35 minutes
Not a particularly cheap option but I use a Powermonkey Traveller. Although it was relatively expensive it can charge 'almost' anything with it's range of adaptors. It's seen me through many a smartphone, PSP, DSi, camera emergency!
Just my thoughts...

the product says: "You can charge this charger by USB or Sunlight."
USB ... >> OR << ... Sunlight ?
what does that mean? if the battery charging through sunlight i'm not able to charge the phone? Or won't it be possible that the battery charges throught sunlight while the mobile is charging ?
work that thing only with sunlight oder may with roomlight too?
thanx =)
have order there freeloader pico

It means that the external battery can be charged by USB or sunlight: I've tested that if it's charged by USB in daylight is more rapid to charge it.
If the external battery is attached to the phone, the phone charges itself and if the charger is under sunlight it charges itself.
thanx =)
and will it only charge under sunlight or maybe in the room too ?

massive 5000mah battery (charged my DHD twice and still had juice). only thing it its quite big and heavy. works well though and if you have 2 USB cables you can charge 2 devices at once. came in useful when my girlfriend forgot her charger when she stayed over. definitely not something to carry in your pocket, but for leaving in a bag it cant be beaten.
How about this one? It's looking exactly for emergency

Hey man, did you complete your work or even start whole trade of yours
Not the cheapest but will charge almost "anything" and it has a 5000mAh battery, go to Amazon and search for Veho VCC-A007-PBP Pebble.
I use this 5000mAh battery pack. It works very well, I get about 4 full charges from it and is able to charge 2 devices at the same time.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/TeckNet-Uni...dible-Blackberry/dp/B000NDQ92W/ref=pd_cp_ce_1
I bought the 4th one - 1500mAh Extended Backup. It works well enough for me. I get more or less a full charge out of it.

HTC chrger VS Samsung Charger

before i got my galaxy s i used to own the htc desire,
now when i charge the galaxy s with its own charger i never get more than 12 hours of standby and the battery just dies
with the htc desire charger i get more than one day of battery life, actually now after 1d 45min since being unpluged i still got 42% of battery life (with the exact same usage as my everyday usage)
now after checking the output voltage in both i found out that they both output 5volts , but the galaxy s is 0.7 amps, while the desire is 1amp
so do you think that i should keep using the htc desire's charger to charge the galaxy s, or this slight increase in amp can damage the phone.
by the way , i tried 2 different samsung chargers , and they both give me no more than 12 hours of standby time , so i know that i do not have a problem in the charger.
any help will be appreciated
thanks
You are tempting me to buy a htc charger as I am dying to get it past 12 hrs of usage.

I'm in the same situation as you and after charging with HTC charger I got a lot of extra battery life!!
I don't think that the increase in amps could damage the phone or battery

Thanks in advance! .)
My Samsung Charger just stopped working and I only have my HTC HD2 charger to use so I haven't got a clue. Just shows how rubbish the Samsung one is though i barely used it as it is and its broken.
This is very peculiar to me.
The charger shouldn't be making a huge difference, but the way I see it, if the charger is output more current to the battery in a faster period of time, it might be charging the battery "more" or over charging, or the samsung undercharging.
The battery life of a phone SHOULD be determined by the mAh rating of the battery. and if both chargers are charging the phone until "100%" then they should not be draining at different rates.
The best way to test this is to get a sustained load and put it on the batteries and see if they match up to the rated mAh ratings. I wish i was still in school so i had access to this stuff so i could test it.
who cares if more amps cause damage, the only damage it will cause is to the battery.
the average battery should last the same as the phone - say 3 - 4 years ??
so if using the HTC charger ruins the battery is 2 - 3 years, who gives a **** lol, aslong as my battery life increases, im happy to buy a replacement charger in 2 - 3 years, BUT by then i would have moved on to another device anyway.
I say if it works, USE IT !!! to hell with the consequences, live life to the max !!
Thanks for sharing this info. I will give it a try with my friend's HTC charger...
Just to add to this.
USB outputs 5v +- 10% & between 500-900mA so if you charge via USB this would have the same effect would it not?
thanks alferret for that info , i really wanted to know that, so now i guess there's no harm in using the htc charger,
i am using it now as my phone charger , and i am getting no problem so far
thanks
Guys if your charger breaks the problem might be the chargers plug or mini usb (iv bought a cheap charger and it was charging but i could not use the phone literally i thought iv burned the screen)iv opened up mine and one of the wires(mine was the black one)was detached try opening with something sharp its really easy to do
just try it those cables detach really easy
Or if your really lazy buy one if you wanna
Funnily enough, yesterday at work I used a Sony Ericsson charger, just top up my phone a bit. Went from 80 to 100 percent in virtually no time.
Strange. I will check my chargers at home
Mine too , after one month and i`m using an LG charger

On Motorola and HTC phones (maybe others as well), chargers are a Micro USB cable with a USB adapter. I wish Samsung would do the same. Much more eco-friendly.
Thanks for the info. I will give it a try with my wife HTC charger.

[Q] are the portable chargers with aa battery any good?

there are some on ebay which are not expensive... have someone tried one? how good is it? I am going on travel soon and taking a lot of photos and videos... not sure my default battery will last a full day... looking for a portable charger and aa battery charger looks interesting as they are easily available but how much battery life does it give?
I personally had a few issues with it
it does not charge the phone up very quickly i got mine from Jaycars
and 2 when the batteries are drained it seems to do a flowback? from phone back to battery and makes the phone drain battery faster i have not really found the cause for that
i see alot of people use the pebble charger or i am testing this one out
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI...645381&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2843wt_906
so far it seems pretty good.
thx for the reply!
this charger
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI....#ht_2843wt_906
looks quite big.... does not seem very portable... it seems it's same size as a phone
edit: anyway how long does it takes to charge the phone? does it charge it to full?
mm its not that bid really its pretty much a clone of the pebbles charger but cheaper..
knowing chinese manufacturing its probably from the same factory just resold under a different name..
the dimensions are not that bad.. its almost the same size as my 4xaa battery pack.. and does it much better as well.
Dimension: (L)99 x (W)72 x (H)18 mm
and strangely using the cable provided the phone thinks its powered over AC whereas using the oem HTC cable it thinks its USB charging
i tried it out quickly it seems to charge about 350-400 maA watching battery widget to see how much is sent in.

sold by a company called visualtouchworld

its a china clone of the pebbles charger (which i read is very good but far more pricey)
if money is of no concern
i bought one of these for a relative https://powertraveller.com.au/products/67
i have tried it out myself both minigorilla and what not they hold a very good charge but not quite as portable and also pricey.
thx for the info! grateful
i finally opted for a spare battery solution. I bought an oem battery for desire/nexus one
I'd suggest just buying a spare battery, it's easier and simpler! I've had those portable chargers before and didn't like them so much. Have a nice trip!

I just got one of those too, and it's great. Wish it wasn't so big, but it does the job.
I just picked up a couple of Anker dual-USB wall chargers. They have higher amperage (2.4A) than most standard chargers and on both USB ports simultaneously (many dual-USB chargers lower the output when both ports are in use). Between the better charging times, the dual ports and the build quality, I'm very satisfied.
The Anker charger with Qualcomm Quick Charge tech looks even better, but I don't have any experience with it personally.
Show me the link and experience, thanks!

i have the htc rapid charger 2.0 and the aukey rapid charger (+the 10000mah external battery quick charge)
both work really well. if i knew about the aukey. i woulda originally gone for that first
Quick review of the Keedox Quick charger 2.0:
Well it has the official logo of Qualcomm Quick charger 2.0 printed on it but I kinda find it as slow as the stock charger from hTC :crying:
Tested from 45% to 100%
Till 80% it's amazingly fast with 20% every 10min but once over 80% it's slowing down, from 90% to 100% it's extremely slow like 1% every 5 mins
It took 75 mins to charge these 65% while it's supposed to charge from 10% to 100% in an hour (80%)
So we are pretty far from the advertised +70% faster charger.
Take in consideration that I am using Viperom 2.2 for the time being based on 1.40, these Roms are known to have bugs with charging time, so I am waiting for the upcoming Leedroid based on OTA 1.40 Rom to be sure this charger is crap and give a negative review on Amazon.
I am still waiting for my TechMatte car quick charger, my sis still didn't finish to empty her 2 suitcases, girls...
I don't think it's a matter of cable, I am using the same USB 2.0 cable that I used back with the Quick charger of the S6 on the S6, it was charging the S6 from 20 to 100% in 50 mins.

The Aukey quick charger I have does the same type of throttling thing once it gets around that 85% mark. I haven't paid enough attention to my Droid Turbo charger to see if it does the same thing. I figured it was just a safety feature of the Aukey charger.

So these are quick charger only from 0 to 85% !! The S6 stock charger on S6 was also slowing down at 85% but it wasn't that slow, the results were certainly faster.
Again I can't give a definitive conclusion about the Keedox before I try a stable rom based on the official latest OTA

The slowdown at ~80% full is the expected behavior to be easy on the battery. I find the quick charge most valuable when I am about to leave home and I can use the last remaining minutes to cram some juice into the battery. Main charging happens overnight for me without any need to hurry.
The slowdown >90% is behavior I have seen on every phone I have ever owned. It is a safety feature to avoid overcharging the battery. Overcharged li-ion batteries have been known to explode and catch fire, after all.
It may simply be that HTC is more conservative with its batteries than Samsung is.

Thanks!
It looks like the htc m9 is slow with quick charger 2.0 anyway, gsmarena posted a 2h charging time for 0 to 100%.
So my Keedox is not bad after all

Any Difference in Wireless Chargers?

I have a Samsung wireless fast charging pad I bought for my S7. Is there any difference in the charging speed between it and the latest dock style ones?
Nope
Sent from my Pixel XL using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Maybe you know. I was told that using non-original wireless charging is bad because they spoil the battery. Is it so?
Generic wireless chargers do not fast charge in my experience. I have tried 3 off of Amazon so far.
I have a Seneo Fast Charger stand and its been great .
As long as the wireless dock is Fast Charge capable and your adapter is QuickCharge 2.0 compliant it should work. I have four Seneo Fast Charge docks that I use with both Samsung and RavPower QC 2.0 adapters and they work great with my S7 Edge. I will test when I get it but I'd assume the S8+ will work the same.
You know if it is working because the phone displays two messages when you dock it.
"Charging wirelessly xx%"
and then after a second or two
"Fast charging wirelessly xx%"

I believe the S8 (like the S7) can accept up to 15w wireless charging (Qi 2.0 spec) but most chargers barely output 10w. Not sure why but I would be looking for a good 15w output charger unless theres a reason not to.

I think the reference is to batteries losing capacity. The older a battery is the less capacity it holds. A battery rated at 3600mAH might only hold 2000mAH after a couple of years of use. High charging current causes a lot of heat buildup in the battery and will shorten (spoil) it's life.
Best way to tell if your battery has lost capacity is to measure charge time. Having it die quickly could mean it's just running too many apps, but charging time (with the phone off) should give an indication of battery capacity. If your battery charges twice as fast as a new one, it's lost half its capacity.

Having it die quickly could mean it's just running too many apps, but charging time (with the phone off) should give an indication of battery capacity. If your battery charges twice as fast as a new one, it's lost half its capacity.

Got it. Sorry, I actually thought they meant that the battery spoils. Like the way some "normal" batteries blow up if left in devices for too long. I was seeing memories of the S7 nightmare.
AFAIK, the only listed change between the Dock style Samsung Fast charger and the Convertible Fast charger is that the new 1 can be changed from dock to pad.
I just picked up 2x Dock styles from amazon for 40 bucks a piece, way better than spending 70 for the convertible style.
Or these?

I was amazed how quickly they showed up too. Took 3 days from order to delivery. I think they purposely put almost 2 weeks delivery time just so that when you get it "early" you're amazed.

What does "spoil the battery" even mean?

Means that the battery holds its charge less. Faster discharges, in general the life of the battery decreases
If you use Qi wireless charger, it has 1.4x faster than traditional wireless charger. Built-in 2 coils offer a wide charging area, which allows you to place your device in either portrait or landscape position. You can also continue using it to read, watch or type while the battery is being replenished.
