[Q] HTC Desire S Bricked - Vodafone in Turkey - - HTC Desire S

Dear Friends,
My Desire S that I bought from Vodafone in Turkey was bricked today. I have S-Offed the device and installed Revolution Bootloader 5 months ago. It was working without any problem. But today, when I hooked it up to the computer, it just froze. I pulled the battery out and put it back. Surprise !! Surprise !!
No power at all. It also is not charging and charging led is not on when connected to an external power. Only reaction I get is a USB tone when I connect it to USB port on the computer. Other than that, device is totally bricked.
Any possible solutions that you know of ??

First try to see if you are actually bricked or not...i mean can you boot into bootloader or recovery??if so then try resetting your phone from recovery
Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA App

I already tried power and volume down. No response. Any other suggestions to boot into bootlader or recovery ??

Do you know how to use adb? Theres a guide here somewhere about it. You can use that to do whatever with your phone. But I myself dont know much about it. I can redirect you to the link where it is. See if you find it handy.

I will give it a try. Fingers crossed

Error: Device not found
FYI - Drivers and SDK Kit are already installed..

You need to install device specific driver which comes with htc sync software. After installing htc sync if you dont need the sync software just remove it leaving the drivers intact. Okay?

Waiting for fastboot
waiting for the fastboot again
at this point for unknown reasons revolutionary crashed and my phone stucked to QUALCOM BOOTLOADER mode now i can not boot the phone even in bootloader mode(just a blank screen with backlight ON) but computer can recognise it as QCOM QD LOADER and asking for drivers (similar to HD2 brick problem when we flash the non-tmob with t-mob rom)
please see the picture attached and suggest something
do you have drivers installed , i suggest you re- install theme and see..
i can not boot the phone bro not even Bootloader mode
Download the official rom from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559
And try to flash the stock rom....
How to flash ROM? when its not detected as ANDROID OR HTC on PC?
You do have modified drivers installed right?

Then you need to download modded drivers and run ruu.
Bro
what will it say if the handset is not detected as ANDROID service?Of course its not connecting
when i insert cable and battery to the phone it just lit its backlight (screen remains blank) no matter what button combination i try (VOL DOWN+POWER) or Simply i press power button screen remain blank it just backlights and detected as QUALCOM BL MODE on PC
Have you pulled the battery?
Modded drivers? Just use the drivers from revolutionary website and you'll be fine.
You didn't have HTC sync installed did you?

No modded drivers atall i am using this
(http://goo-inside.me/tools/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe) .
Actually when phone goes to proper bootmode than only it will ask for proper drivers but here the question is it is in some special mode how to get it out or bypass this
i wonder how many of you seen same problem in HD2 when wrongly flashed its detected as QUALCOM CDMA TECHNOLOGIES bla bla remember?
Send it back to htc. You probably didn't successfully s=off. So just tell them one day it died and would never turn back on. Even if they can tell you did something to it, they'll just send it back to you. Youre no worse off.

Have you asked the Revolutionary guys for their advice? I'd of said they are your best chance.

Your bootloader seems to be corrupted! Why you pull the battery? Revolutionary give back errors many times and it works with ot without this messages!
Its your own error ask htc to Pay for repair! Not tell it wont turn on and you dont do anything this is not fair!
You pulled the Battery in bootloader flashing process... just stupid!
Its not detecting the Phones processor its detecting the Chipset debug mode!
We could fix your phone in this mode but we dont have a command list!

Question to unlocking the boot loader ERROR

Ok guys so here is my problem... I am new to rooting android phones as I just converted from an iPhone.
So I found Hasoon2000`s awesome All In One Toolkit for my HTC One S. I went for it... I installed the HTC Drivers, registered at HTC DEV and wanted to get my Token ID but no luck. I plug in the phone (USB Debugging enabled, fast boot disabled) and click on go. The phone goes into the bootloader (I believe the one with the white background and diff. color text) and the cmd on my PC still says waiting for device. I dont know why, I tried both fast boot on and fast boot off, but neither works and I really want to root my phone I would really appreciate , if someone could help me because I cant seem to figure out how to get past this error.
Sorry but questions go in q&a as posted in the rules

even after the update the usb feature worked, and now it doesnot work at all it only chages i have tried
holding the power button for 10 secs with phone connected to the lap, desktop, (when i did this the first time it the chhosing menu that appears on the phone showed up but the pc didnt recognise the phone)
tried different wires
checked coonect to pc settings ( set to always ask, disk drive)

tried factory resets
unab;e to do hard reset for some reason (android logo doesnt show up) only the three lights keep blinking and go off

Does this mean you tried more than one computer? Its not clear. If not, try that. Also try different USB ports, as this has been known to solve the issue for some people.
Sorry disregard my post I can't wrap my mind around stock and ota

[Q] htc explorer softbricked stuck black screen with a vibration

What happened: Actually i got stuck on the htc white logo issue a few months back and i gave my explorer A310e to htc sevice center. After 2 months they returned the phone with nothing but when i tried to boot the device using power key it just made a single vibration and even the white logo doesn't appear now. When i asked, they just said i rooted the device
The issue: my device htc explorer A310e doesn't boot but only makes a vibration when i tried to power on the device. Also tried to enter boot menu by pressing vol down+power keys but to no avail. Prior to getting into all this mess i rooted my device and did factory reset before giving it in service center. Guys please help me. i haven't used the device properly for even 20 days after buying it. Only after tens of hours of searching through different forums on this site i am posting it. Please take a litlle time off your busy schedule to solve this problem. i would be greatly indebted to you. noobest of the noob here. sorry for that. :crying:

Well. To flash RUU I need to flash some images which requires the phone to enter fastboot mode. But the phone is not showing any htc logo or boot menu by starting it. It is just making a vibration. Any other alternative to enter fastboot mode?

Well, those HTC guys sure did some damage.I think they erased hboot also. Well, did you try to connect phone to PC, adb and USB. sometimes, it automatically connects through fastboot, without mentioning
It in the phone,I think . So, try ruu anyway.
PS.Not a soft brick, but a hard one
You can try pming @legen_dary
tried connecting to PC and run adb and fastboot commands but the PC does not recognise the device when connected through USB it just makes a sound though like when u connect a pen drive. am i missing anything here.

Well, the HTC people may be dumb as f#(% around here, but you should never tell them you're rooted...
Now what you have seems like either a hard brick, or a display issue... If you dont wanna take matters into your own hands, go to the HTC service center, and tell them to repair your phone.. When they give the "your phone is rooted" excuse, tell them you'll pay the repair costs, but just to repair your phone... Take your dad or older brother or a couple of friends with you.. And make sure you can talk freely, n be ready to shout at them.. If you cant, take someone who can.. Htc crew in india is stupid enough to not be able to fix your problem, you can catch them red-handed..
Just remember that no matter what they tell you, you keep insisting that they repair your phone, under any circumstances... If they say its against company policy and all, demand to see the policy.. Talk to the goddamn owner of the center, regional manager, national manager, etc..
Unko aata nhi hoga na, isliye woh log har type ki excuse denge... Agar aise hi excuse dete rhe, to last mein taunt maarke aana, ki "service center khol ke baithe ho, aur ku6 aata nhi hai.. Bandh kr do!!" or something like that...
If nothing works, then come back here, and we'll try it the "hard" way...

Firstly thanx a lot for your comprehensive reply. but the sad news is i did the cursing part already as soon as i found the no display on the phone. Infact they are ready to repair the device but only at a cost of 5.5K, which i feel is a little too much for a mobile of worth 8.5K. And when i asked about erasing the hboot issue for a simple soft brick problem, they said and i quote, " sir its not possible to identify the issue unless we open the device but once the device is opened there might be some problems but you could get it repaired for quoted price". only after i explained them how dumb they sound the customer care personnel asked me to give the device once again at the service center from where they would send it to bangalore like they did previously. as i know it would take another 2 months to get my device back and also i don't have much hope on the htc guys at bangalore as well, as they quoted 5.5K for the repair. So what do you think I should do because spending 5.5K for an 8.5K mobile doesn't seem justified for me.
Hmm.. Ok.. What they're probably gonna do to "repair" your phone, is that they'll switch out the circuits with another pico..
You can do that urself.. You need to find a damaged pico.. You'll have to face some costs.. But if you can find a body/display damaged pico, whose board inside is intact, we can try and swap it with yours..
This method is also not full proof, and it may or may not work...
But worth a try if you really wanna revive your phone..
PS : have you asked them what the issue is?? And what they're gonna do to fix it?? What is it that they're doing, thats gonna cost you 5.5k, for a 20 day old phone??
If not, ask them.. Talk directly to the Bangalore service center if you must..

If his device doesnt respond at all, to neither fastboot nor adb, then there's a very slim chance of something "software" working...

You are right. The stupid HTC guys damaged your phone. Under normal circumstances Android doesn't even have read access to the HBOOT partition even when it's rooted.
If the hardware is not damaged the phone can be revived even if all partitions including the HBOOT and radio are wiped! Anyone with suitable JTAG hardware can do it.

If your device is detected by fastboot then you can try flashing an RUU. Do you have the necessary drivers? Have you installed the latest version of HTC Sync?

HTC Sync includes the USB drivers that are necessary for your device to get detected by fastboot. Has your device been previously detected by HTC Sync?
Also try different USB ports (USB 1.0, 2.0 and 3.0)

previously it used to detect my device through htc sync but not now. is it because i don't click on the options(charge only or disk drive) that show up when i used to connect to pc. in the my computer folder, device is being shown as a removable disk but when i click on it it just says insert a disk. and i dont have memory card in the phone now as well. should i insert one and see what happens.
