For those of us who just want our phones to $%#^@! work.
This is a clean EI22 based ROM with a custom Black theme. Most of the preloaded Sprint software is removed, with the exception of ThinkFree Office, MyFiles, and Memo. This ROM puts stability ahead of new features and is usally behind the curve when it comes to the latest mods. Those who are into bleeding edge/ricer ROMs will probably find this ROM boring.
Feature List:
Based on the original leaked EI22 NANDroid dump (noobnl)
Deodexed
Custom EI22 kernel with the following features: (source)
init.d script support
busybox/su
keyboard fixes
overclocking to 1.4Ghz
Voltage control
WIFI stability fixes
CWM5 Support
bootanimation.zip support (None included by default. Place one into '/system/media' and it will play)
Carrier IQ ("CIQ") removed (k0nane)
RFS file system
Stock Gingerbread Launcher with 3D fix (hoffman1984)
GPS Fix (hienkhieu)
Proper Reboot and Reboot to CWM Recovery on the power menu (Thanks to untermensch for the excellent quide)
Hacked Sprint Hotspot (Tortel1210)
1% battery (Icons by Mendozinas)
3G/1x icon fix (SenseiSimple)
CRT Off
CRT On (Thanks to Whitehawkx for the guide)
No battery popup
Screen stays off when unplugged
Volume rocker mod (sound on to vibrate to silent) (mkasick)
Silent Camera (SenseiSimple)
Scrollable Status Toggles - with 4G Button (lidroid, SensieSimple, 4G button mod, other fixes mods by me)
Howto and Review videos (thanks to qbking77!)

FAQ
FAQ:
Q: What's with the 'no root' kernel?
A: There are certain programs that will refuse the work if you have root access. The 'no root' kernel will strip root access at bootup and allow programs which refuse to run on rooted devices to run. To re-obtain root acess all you have to do is flash the regular CleanGB kernel in the first post.
Q: Where is the bootanimation.zip and how can I change the boot animation?
A: The stock boot animation is actually contained in the framework-res.apk file. If you want to use a custom boot animation, all you have to do is place your bootanimation.zip in the /system/media directory and it will play instead of the stock one.
Q: What about [insert feature here]?
A: See the todo list below

Change Log:
CleanGB 1.0.3
Power menu mod enhancement: Reboot dialog and progress now show "Reboot", "Your phone will reboot", "Rebooting...", instead of "Power Off", "Your phone will shut down.", "Shutting down..."
Fix for power menu bug (see this)
Fixed init.d script support, which was broken (and no one ever noticed!)
CleanGB 1.0
New kernel with capacitive button light fix
Scrollable Status bar toggles with 4G button
Build 18
Removed broken talkback app from system
Build 17
Improved kernel with stability fixes
Updated stock apps
Books
Gmail
Maps
Talkback
Market
Sprint Voice Mail
Youtube
Silent Camera
CRT On
Removed left over CIQ lib
Build 16
ClockworkMod 5.x /ROM Manager Support
Build 15
Changed theme to account for apps that put black text in dropdown menu items
Put back "MyFiles" app as multiple sprint apps rely on it
Restored ClockPackage that links to MyFiles
Build 14
New Kernel - change to how ext4 partitions are mounted; will give you ext4 users those uber fast quadrant scores (that mean nothing).
Clock app was hard coded to use the "MyFiles" app (which is not in this ROM) to chose alarm tones. Hacked app to remove that feature.
Zipaligned apk files (yes, I forgot to do it)
Build 13
Added Kernel that supports overclocking to 1.4Ghz and voltage changes (source is in first post)
Removed useless buddiesnow package
Fixed voicemail notifications (black text on black background)
Added ext4 version
Build 12
Added 3g/1x icon fix (Screw you Sprint!)
Added all-black wallpaper to launcher's wallpaper picker to match default all black wallpaper
Added /system/etc/init.d directory for init.d script support
Build 0-11
I don't remember

Honestly, I don't give a crap about CIQ, so it's not a high priority but since lots of people care about it, I'll incorporate it as soon as someone releases a noCIQ friendly hotspot hack.

Thanks for posting some screenies...and not for nothing but doesn't removong CIQ make a small improvement on battery performance and free up a little extra RAM...I mean after all were only working with 385mb as opposed to the new standard of 1GB?
Edit: theme looks nice and clean looking forward to your updates.

Wow I like the theme. When I saw blackish theme I was a little's turned off at first because I kind of hate those ones where literally everything is black and there is very little color at all. But when I saw the pictures I liked it as it looks mostly stock but with more black. Very classy looking.
Quick question: I've been hesitating on some of the other Tom's as they have had GPS or data or other weird issues that I am just not having running stock odexed with mkasick's ei22 key fix kernel and the GPS fix. I didn't know if the common theme there was the leaked dump or not. Have you seen anything like that with yours?

To be honest, I've had a few hiccups with EI22 that I never had with EH17. GPS has worked fine for me, but once or twice bluetooth has gotten stuck while turning on and the phone went into a zombie-like state. The bluetooth libraries and firmware are the same in EI22 as they were in EH17, so if there is a problem it has to be in the kernel. That's why I'm sticking as close to stock kernel as I can right now.
I've personally had no issues with data or WIFI.
Any chance of getting the power menu mod that includes REBOOT (and Reboot to recovery)?
Amazingly, this is the only EI22 ROM so far that has a battery % mod. Congrats!

That's a great idea. If I can find a tutorial on how to do that I will.
Anyone know of a tut that show how to mod the power menu?

NM. I found a guide on how to do it. It's pretty involved, so it will take some work. I'm going to tackle it.
Battery life is pretty sick on this! Unplugged at 100% before going to bed last night, and after six hours of sleep it was at 97%. Its now almost 12: 30, and am at 68%! Haven't even connected to my wifi yet, but do have an airrave, so I'm sure that helps. Thank you for this! Wondering how much more I would get out of it by flashing rodderick's nociq over this. Like the black too. Nice work!

May I ask why everyone is including the GPS fix into their ROMs? From my understanding from this thread. You don't need all the GPS locks as it is not needed and the reason you don't without the fix is to save battery life. I think the reason people have been wanting the fix was due to a separate issue that has since then been fixed.
You should leave the GPS fix out for those who don't want it. You can get good accuracy with just a few locks, and anymore locks is just a waste of battery life.

I think noobnl corrected his post since then to say that Samsung forgot to update the gpsd in the new EI22, still using a very old one from the early GB leaks and leaving us with a broken and half-working GPS. Therefore, it seems the only decent way to get good GPS performance again is to flash the GPS fix, which copies over the GPS daemon from the Fascinate (same as CM7).

Okay, the post was kinda confusing. I don't have the GPS fix on my current ROM and I get quick/accurate GPS... is it broke in some other way?

I am going to run my phone without the GPS fix for the few days and see how it goes. I'm very heavy GPS user so if there is a problem I will notice it. If GPS runs fine for me I will probably remove the fix because battery life is more important to me than useless extra satelite locks.

EH17 AIO Volume/Hotspot/Lockscreen/Overscroll/Lag Fix
The first rom to combine ALL of these great mods!
Updated 1/05/2012
Updates, Important Notices, and General Information Posted Here!
I maintain RandomROM as a distribution across multiple forums. As such, the bulk of the information, details, etc. is maintained on my site. Rest assured, the links below will take you to aforementioned site where you will find all of the information you require regularly updated on how to use this rom. No subscription required. Always free (donations appreciated, never required). All of my roms, mods, themes, guides, etc. can be found on this easy to navigate site as well as my blog for upcoming updates. As always, I will still answer questions here.
Disclaimer: I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards, divorce, bankruptcy, acne, etc. Please do some research if you are a first time flasher BEFORE flashing this rom. YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the finger at me if something goes wrong with your device, I will laugh. By downloading, you agree to have read all pertinent information provided and to accept any and all responsibility subsequently.
Home Of The AIO Mod For EH17.I have updated and merged necrosan's wifi tether mod and mkasick's volume rocker mod together, as they change the same framework.jar. This means that Sprint Hotspot will work freely without an additional Wifi Tether app, and that your volume rocker can now seamlessly transition from silent, to vibrate, to loud. Included in this conglomeration are also maddoggin's lockscreen mod and qbking77's overscroll glow mod, as well as the CRT animation. This will currently remain known as the AIO mod.
To any rom/theme developers: Feel free to utilize this mod but be sure to reference myself and all aforementioned developers involved. It took a lot of time and effort to make these great features play nicely and it's important to keep the original creators in the loop.
Why Should I Use RandomROM?
This rom is a personal hobby of mine to maintain the greatest battery life that I can. I've scoured the forums searching for the newest and greatest tweaks, mods, etc. to include, and then carefully tested them all for battery performance. I've also made additional changes, developments, and additions all my own. As such, this rom has compiled the excellent work of many great developers into my own ideas and configurations. Contained within are many useful apps pre-installed as well as an effort to replicate my exact setup which has yielded me 0-1% battery loss per hour maximum when idle! On good days it's now beating RandomROM EC05 Phoenix!
All included apps have been RandomKing-Approved to conform with the best battery usage. I'm always on the lookout for more tweaks, possible thematic changes, etc. There should be no issues, but should I happen to find one, I may simply release a patch or quietly switch out the upload version.
Many of you have complained that others achieve much better battery life. The goal of RandomRom is to provide MY setup that's provided me with great battery life. Further details are available in the changelog of post 2, as well as more specific details and usage stats.

You've got questions, here's some answers!
Want to reduce the ram leakage problem? These suggestions may help:
Preferences>Advanced Settings>Memory Usage Settings> Uncheck "Use homescreen caches"
Miss Live Wallpapers? Don't really care how much battery they use?
Here they are, push them to System\App using ES File Explorer
Really wish that you could return to the stock fonts?
Can't figure out how to make the battery percentage appear?
It's under Settings > Lockscreen Settings > Statusbar Settings
Want the battery icon, and not just the percentage?
Same deal as before, except you have to hide battery icon, and then un-hide it. Wait a moment.
When should I use the AIO mod?
If you're on a rom that doesn't have it, or you flashed an EG22 theme that doesn't include it.
I really miss my old transparent messaging app, can I have that back?
You can now! I've just released a few variations of transparent Gingerbread messaging!
I love RandomROM, but the Framework FC's are just too much to handle and no-one can help me, what should I do?
Check out Phoenix EC05 linked in my signature at the bottom of this post .
How do I use my own ringtone, alarm, and notification mp3s?
Create a folder on your SD card called "media".
Inside of that create "audio".
Inside of that create:
"ringtones" for ringtones.
"alarms" for alarms.
"notifications" for notifications.

Sounds good! I did a quick analysis on it myself to see that everything included runs, nothing more really. I spent most of my time on this trying to include both necrosan's mod and mkasick's volume control mod I love so dear. But it worked for me.
Unfortunately, my phone had to go in for repairs, so I'm stuck waiting now until I can fiddle with it some more.
For anyone interested in the dual Hotspot/Volume mod, they're linked along with any other mods I've made HERE.
thanks much!

This will only cause more battery drain as 1x uses more battery than Evdo, this mod was designed with GSM users in mind not CMDA.
@ OP "2.3.4 v. Final EC05" the name is odd was this a typo?
Are you using the stock kernel? Just wondering if the EG22Plus kernel would be okay, if you have made changes to the kernel i'll stick with what you have.

How long does it stay at Samsung logo? I flash this ROM and the first boot stuck at Samsung Logo forever (about 5 mins so far). I am getting anxious now.
Edit: Gave it up after sitting at Samsung logo for 10 minutes. Rolled back to old rom.

NOW MTD TOO!!!!! Thanks to Zanderman112 for packaging an MTD version!
GET IT HERE:
MTD VERSION
Includes modified Build.prop so no FC09 update notifications!
This will convert you to MTD from BML.
Neat! I'll flash it the moment it's available. I don't know if you're taking requests but I'm going to make a couple anyway, maybe for future versions.
1) Disable the battery full alert.
2) Fix the volume rocker to go all the way down to full silence without vibration.
With or without these features, this looks like it'll be my next rom. Thanks!

Are you getting rid of carrier iq on this as well???
Looks great so far, can not wait to the finial ROM

Not sure i want the lockscreen mod... I'll see though.
As for the rest, i don't know how long it will be before these are ported over, so i may start porting them myself after i get the ROM uploaded.
I hope this firmware can cure my GPS lock
before I use the EC05, EG22, EH17 ROM, but the GPS Lock is very bad at all

The modem's available in OTA... if you odin back to EC05 modem and then flash the EI22 modem update it should be good to go.
Now whether or not someone can create a .tar ball from this is still a waiting game... If it doesn't surface by tomorrow, I'll probably get on it.

I use STOCKY-ISH_ROM_v6.T1 before returning to the froyo firmware
and, I think it is "hardware problem" in my Epic GPS signal reception
* I compare with some other devices in the same location, and I am the worst epic in receiving satellite signals
until now i'm still looking for a solution for the my GPS problem

have you tried it on cm7? mine used to be horrible til i flashed that... after it locked 7/7
Can this be flashed over EH17? I'm currently on Hurricane 1.6 but this is looking awesome enough to try out.

I would agree, cm7 gave me the best lock, then I tried Stocky-ish the latest release with the fascinate gps files and locked 6 out of 8 which is good enough. On cm7 I did get 11 out of 11.

Cant wait to try this out. Thanks so much for your hard work!
Downloading now. Can't wait to get my GTalk video rocking!...... and other gingerbready goodness too!
Update 1:
CANDY CORN!!!!!
Update 2:
Music is working (FLAC).
The hotspot app isn't modded (already mentioned in a previous post).
The first boot took a little while, while the word "Android" flashed... give it a minute or two.
The screen rotate feature is so fast it's sexy. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! the 3 second rotate on other roms was killing me.
The camera app and Gallery works for both pics and video.
PEAP authentication is listed for wifi login which can be hit or miss depending on the ROM. THANKS! The WIFI connected instantly and works.
The GPS got a fix WITHOUT WIFI LOCATION HELP in under 20 seconds in Google Maps to within 20 meters. It centered in on the front of my house (which is where I am lol)
The compass works.
3 bars of cell signal (normal)
Update 3:
The lock screen looks right in landscape AND portrait mode. Haven't come across a ROM that can do both that I recall.
GTalk video chat WORKS!!! It bogs the phone down a bit, but nevertheless, it works!
The hardware keyboard is working flawlessly. No skipping of keys. Did you patch the keyboard, or is my typing just better than usual?
Bluetooth sync'd without issue... Didn't even ask for the "0000" password
Phone calls are improved over bluetooth (subjective, I know, but people were having a hard time hearing me on Froyo ROMs over bluetooth.)
No crashes yet, but I've only had it running for 20 minutes.
Update 4:
Super user permissions work
The market app works
Google+ is pre-installed and works, but had an update in the market. Youtube did as well.
The speaker works.
I have to say... First impressions are VERY good. The one thing that's really sticking out here is the speed. There are no delays at all (save GTalk video) in anything I do on this phone. Thanks for all the hard work, Joshua! I'm going to hold on to this ROM for awhile to come I think.
Off topic, but I just realized that I joined in January of 2009, and this is my FIRST POST! WTH was I doing all this time?! I always login, but I guess I've just never been this excited about a ROM. :-/
Update 5:
Not really sure how to tell, but I had a question. Have you removed Carrier IQ or should I flash the nociq zip from this post?
Update 6:
God I love updates! I read that you want to remove CIQ in one of the first posts. Check the link in post 5. k0nane just got the package up. I'll flash it to see if it bricks the OS now.
Update 7:
The nociq patch installed correctly, and the phone is back up and running. I'm not sure what if any visual changes there are, but apps still work, I still have cell signal, and the only thing outside the normal is the black helicopter with the sprint logo hovering outside my window....I uhhhh gotta go... tell my family I love them!!!
Are you using the stock kernel with your rom?

This is OMFGB. It is built from AOSP using cm7 device and vendor trees. I do not take credit for anything that is here besides the things that I fixed. I simply synced the source, made some fixes and updates and compiled it. I will quote Roman who first ported this rom.

Ok with that said, this ROM is no longer supported by anyone besides myself. I am just trying to make improvements and add fixes for this already great ROM. So if you have issues direct them to me and not to any of them. As always I am just doing this to learn and this is a great ROM with tons of customization.
Current Known Issues:
a2dp might still be broken, I added some fixes but I have no way of testing it.
It might not work with the latest baseband, I added some fixes but I am currently on the old baseband.
Some of the settings in God Mode do not function or are severely outdated. I left them there just for nostalgic reasons. I may update them in future releases. These settings are: News, addons, and ROMs. These Settings have no effect on the customization or performance of the ROM, they are just old links.
Old Bugs that I fixed:
Fixed inverted FFC
Added T9 dialer (CM)
Added fixes for baseband compatibility and a2dp
Redid the layout of the Settings Menu with ICS like layout.
Fixed some compile errors.
If you find any bugs I have overlooked please let me know and I will try my best to fix them.
Install Instructions:
1. Download OMFGB and gb gapps
2. Reboot Recovery
3. Wipe Data/factory reset
4. Wipe Dalvik cache
5. Install OMFGB
6. Install gapps
7. Reboot and enjoy.
Yes this ROM requires you to flash gapps. They are currently not included.

Add-Ons
These are Faux's Kernels I take no credit for them. All the old links are broken so I re-uploaded them. Currently these are the only kernels that will work.
Overclocked and Undervolted
Faux's p999-DS-Kernel-0.4.3 OC/UV
Stock Voltage
Faux's p999-DS-Kernel-0.4.3-sv
Things I intend to do with this rom:
Get a2dp and new baseband fully working. (if they are not already)
Update the kernel version
Possibly add on more lockscreens and features.

There is plenty of ICS roms. A lot of users don't like ICS ROMs due to the bugs and issues they have. I'm not new, just been busy with real life and other projects.
Can you please port this to the LG optimus 2x
Is there a chance that you can port this over to the lg optimus 2x p990 because i really used to love this rom but our version is outdated now? thanks

I added some stuff related to it. If it actually fixed it or not I am not sure. I also do not know if owains fix will work or not since this is GB, and his fix is for ICS. If it doesn't work I can put one together that might work for now until I can get it right in source.

Alright, making a mirror. Owains fix may work with any rom, but tbh im not sure because I have never used it. I have been using my own custom roms for the past month and been using the old baseband.

Owain's zip does work on it. Works on cm7.
Also, does this ROM get updated much?

As much as I get time to update it.
I used to love this rom on the vibrant, nice one kwes!
Owain's fix worked for me when using temesek's cm7 rom (which I am currently) A confirmation on the new baseband functionality would be great. Also do you know if the cm7 LG cam port would work with this? I'm sure it would be a 'test and find out' situation also.
And of course, your work is always very much appreciated =)

ok, first of all this thing boots fast as hell!!!
second, it runs hot
third, no calling. im on the new baseband and could not make a call, got the static motor-boat noise on both ends of the call (i think there was an update to the new BB that LG put out that i did not try though)
i tried owains fix, but that put my phone into a boot loop. it may work on CM7 but it looped my phone with this rom
couple of other things
stock launcher has no shortcut to change wallpapers when you long press the homescreen. installing holo restored that
3G icon instead of 4G or the even an H
no file manager
i like the boot animation and default wallpaper, did not try bluetooth or any tethering
i will get the LG update to the baseband and try again to see if that works (without owains fix and with, just to see if it still boot loops)

The only thing I found not working is lockscreen. I'm going to see if its a bad install or something tho.

You can switch the 4g and H icons in the god mode app. I know they are working because I been using it for about a week. There is tons of file managers on the market, so there is not really a need to add one to a aosp based rom.
As for the stock launcher the wallpapers can be accessed via the settings hard key, I was thinking about hacking in an option in the popup though. The stock launcher is highly customizable, it is not just a normal gb launcher. Although I did notice the wallpaper thing and it bother me since Im used to longpress to change it.
Im about to throw a little add on package together that MIGHT fix the baseband.

I'm already working on version 1.2. I'm redoing the framework little by little making it that much closer to Bi-Winning Redux. Next up will present a battery gauge icon and the abandoning of Touchwiz in favor of Nemus.
EDIT: Version 2 is out now! This was a challenging, but fun, project for me.
good $#!T!
Keep up the good work. Even though this forum looks abandoned, there are still people like me using this phone as a daily-driver and wishing for it to be more stable and less lag-prone at times. I'll try it out when I have a chance, but might just wait for 1.2.

Agreed! Though GOv3.2 Bulky has been wonderful when paired with RAM Manager Pro and the keyboard settings corrected, I'll still consider other newer ROMS that make improvements and/or offer something unique. I think some of the lack of activity may be some people are waiting to see what bhundven comes up with. In the mean time, I'm grateful to all the folks on here who have worked to bring out the greatness in this device that should have been there when it was released, but wasn't.

Yes...definitely. This device has potential for great things. I have numerous build.prop tweaks that I will be testing soon....like the Bi-Winning tweaks and others.
Wow. This ROM is buttery smooth with Zeam Launcher(My personal preference). No matter what ROM I use, I always use Zeam Launcher due to the fact that it's lightweight, and despite not haven't been updated in ages, still retains all of it's functionality.
i will have to flash this to the wife's phone. She hates me messing with her phone so i will have to do it late at night.

I do believe your credit is misguided. Reactive didn't do a damn thing but lie to everyone about CM6. Anyone can tell you that. Hence he's banned. I also, did nothing. I just input all the best apps, tweaks, mods and place them into the ROM, really. Maybe fix a bug occasionally or what not.
Edit : Those CWM Steps are NOT mine, but rather aYoTeddy's.

Yes, and they are also wrong... aYoTeddy told me himself in his thread about a year ago. Even on RED CWM, you need to always check mounts (yes, only system matters, and it should say "unmount" meaning it is mounted). Check mounts before flashing, and again before rebooting.
TheLastSidekick and reactive had been telling people to flash twice and I did not understand why. Eventually after taking it out with TheLastSidekick, we realized that if you flash twice, the second time the mounts will always be right... but there is no reason to flash twice as long as you check your mounts (with ANY version of CWM).
NOTE: If you do not flash twice or check your mounts, the only risk is that you will reboot and nothing will have changed... like you didn't flash anything at all.
NOTE2: You can usually do a backup in CWM first, then after flashing use CWM to restore only the Data partition. This may lead to instability though, but it is usually fine and saves a ton of time as your phone reboots with a new ROM already fully configured for you. Carriers ROMs do this... they never erase peoples Data partition. I don't understand why that is not the norm in the ROM scene, but that CWM trick allows us to try it.
Jump key vibe error then reboot! Am I alone?
pressing Jump key causes reboot almost every time...... Anbody else having this issue?
p.s. I'm about an hour into this forum, so If this issue has been addressed Please point me in right deeerection. Thanks!

Yup. I found the bug in this ROM and in TigerFusion and already informed RicAndroid of it. Although I have a bad feeling that it may have to do with using the framework.jar and android.policy.jar from GOv2. But then again, the jump button wasn't wonky like in TigerBlood and TigerFusion. He's still trying to determine where the problem is at and why it's happening. I'm sure he'll roll out an update when he solves this issue.

WHEW..... Glad to hear it wasnt just me! I was a lil worried there for a minute. . . . anyways thanks for replying right away....
Ooooh and Thanks RicAndroid for your contributions here.... These Tiger ROMS are land o lakes buttery smooth save for the aforementioned jump key glitch.
And Kudos to the other devs and members here for keeping this device relevant.
Yup. I found a mod that ayoteddy came up with. Give me until later today to fix this issue.

EDIT: Doh...sorry. It may have to to do with the policy.jar being for Glorious Overdose only. I'll figure it out....for now, use the PreHome app.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15095711&postcount=1 is a potential temp fix. But you got to chmod it to rw-r--r-- or 0644(correct me if I'm wrong, please) and then reboot the phone(after moving it to the specified location and doing the before mentioned chmodding after it is moved)
I found a good fix... at least for now. You can install PreHome and assign a jump key shortcut. I use Jump + H.

Indeed. Bhundven also cleared it up by saying there was no updater-script function that rsynced the disc to check for changes. Hence, i always double wiped. It was a simple solution to a problem I had always had from day one.

Not really. I got this from chaoscentral over at androidforums.com. Here is his quote....
Now some may ask why I would want to do this? Well I watched a few video reviews on the Captivate, and I noticed their camera software was different, the menus were layed out differently, and honestly they are better organized.

A new beginning. Thanks for downloading TigerFusion and I hope you enjoy this release. IMO, this is much more stable and feels very close to the ICS themed Bi-Winning Redux.
The camera button is now working flawlessly. But...steps had to be taken. I needed to replace the stock camera app with the Captivate's app.
Follow these steps to get the camera button working:
Go into the app drawer and launch the camera app. Now, use the home button located at the upper right corner. Press the camera button and voila....it works. You can even close the app using task manager and it will still open using the button.

Yeah? The jump key thing has long been a thorn in my side....but I'll look into the volume issue. Enjoy the rom...it's nice to know it is working well....not at 100%, but it is still a work in progress.
I got the volume on-call problem too in an older tiger rom.

I think the culprit is the phone and dialer tab activity apks. They are from the Bi-Winning Rom. I'll switch back to the Sidekick apks.

Please let me know when you have fixed this. I love the theme, but not worth dropping a call everytime I press Volume+.
Of course, first I need to figure out how to get CWM on my odined KG2... still can't find one that works. How do I flash a recovery? Using the stock recovery to flash an update.zip is not working... invalid signature.
I have updated and went back to stock Sidekick phone apks. So far, it seems that it no longer force closes with in-call volume.

Well I am giving this a go. I used to be on Generic Ginger 2.0 so this is my 2nd rom that I have flashed.
I will flash The Blaze 4g modem as well I installed it and everything seems to me running smoothly, I will give you an update in a week or two about how it is running, cause I have learned that the only way to tell with this phone is time

Ok, cool. I mainly used two roms. GenericGinger 4.1 and GOV. I use some parts of GenericGinger for my roms so you will run into the jump key bug.
Everything else works great with the exception of some white text on white background in most menus. I did manage to fix the text in the EPM but still need to fix the others.

Luckily I don't use the jumpkey I only hit it by accident, and it usually does something I don't want it to, which is why I don't use it. But I see what you mean with the white text on white background, at least the background is an off white. So doesn't bother me too much inside.. Outside In the sun will be a different story lol. I still am liking it, runs smooth.
D: I like this Rom and my camera button works fine. I followed all of the instructions and my phone runs great on it. I don't see why so many people are having problems.
People just need to be appreciative this isn't BK you can't have it your way. Lol just appreciate the people willing to deal with the bull**** that the sidekick 4g is... not many people like making rams...
Anyhow I hope you do continue. I like this Rom.

bhundven sent me a good PM and I will continue making roms. Like he said....don't give up. Give in! This phone is not a Galaxy or a Nexus. Until bhundven finishes completely organizing the hot mess that Samsung created, this is what we have to work with.
ay0teddy was a miracle worker. It is amazing what he and PDT did with this phone. But you can only do so much. Samsung messed up big time and who knows...maybe they did try to release Gingerbread and ran into major problems.
Let's all be patient, please. I will include a network booster app that refreshes the signal because that seems to be problem to some users.
FYI: I went from KG2 ODIN (never rebooted once in 2 weeks) to KJ2-rooted-deodex-stock (seemed stable for the 1/2 day I ran it) to adding NXD kernal and V6supercharger (set for stable-rom, never reboot)... and my phone is crashing and rebooting all the time again, especially when using GPS navigation or just pluging in headphone (which runs AutiomateIt script to enable rotation and launch a CarDock app).
I think I am going to back out to KJ2 without a custom kernal, and if that has problems back out to KG2 odin + root. I just want a stable phone, and as much as I want a custom ROM and a custom Kernal with keylogger removed, I'd rather have a "slower" stock phone that NEVER reboots and hardly ever locks up for 30-seconds (only time I ever experience that for 2-weeks was with a ODIN to KG2, then one-click-rooted... even in the first week I had the phone stock over a year ago with KD2, and with GOv2, and with every other ROM, it has never been stable like that).
Maybe you should consider making a ROM from KG2 and we should abandon KJ2... or am I the only one who has always experienced this?

Well, I personally haven't experienced any continuous rebooting on ANY KJ2 ROM. Same with the freezing. It's sporadic. If anything is continuous it'd be the SDcard unmounting itself or my usb connected notice popping up even when usb isn't connected. But those are hardware issues, if I ever saw one. And for the GPS thing. I haven't had any problem there.
Now not trying to hijack the thread or anything, but I don't think moving to KG2 based on one users experience is a wise move. Unless the dev themselves can verify and reproduce these anomalies, the ROM should stay with the base it was released with. Redoing an entire ROM because one user has issues is ludicrous.
KJ2 is stable enough, imo. Why Samsung never released it, we'll never know.
Yeah I am still running nice and smooth.... my phone does the same thing with restarts and what not when you fill it with the extra garbage, including apps, games, and text messages. If I leave everything off this sidekick, meaning I don't download every apparently and game I can. When it is clean I never have a problem with it. When I fill it with crap, the phone crashes and restarts and I start having problems with the touch screen...... I like the rom, and I think the Rom works fine.

I tried using TouchMIUIwiz 3.0 and it is not that good to be honest. It takes longer to switch from Wi-Fi to 4G and flash will not play within the web browser. I tried everything to fix this and it's just not gonna happen.
I'll be sticking with KJ2.....I could install Skyfire but flash should be working out of the box without using a back door.
