You have a bad cable, I had this same problem.

Is there any difference in cables? I was wondering about that the cable I have is the one from my revolution they said to keep it and didnt send a new charger

yeah you may need a new one, preferably the one that comes with the Charge though you're probably gonna have to buy it... I think the stock samsung cable that comes with the phone is the only one that reliably connects and transfers data

Man now i am going to have to wait to root haha

know a friend with a newer samsung phone? borrow it, I think most newer samsung cables all work (I use one from my Fascinate and it works fine)

go figure verizon said its the same cord

So they said they are sending me a phone and a cord. the guy from verizon even said I have absolutely no idea why its not working everyone here is also confused. so they are sending me a new phone and cord. I am starting to lose trust in their certified devices this makes 5 phones in 2 weeks

Its not bad it's just not ment for that phone just like my fascinate wire Is loose when connected to my charge

[Q] Why can't i connect using the usb?

Well guys i have a big problem. Its shouldn't be that big considering its a connection problem, but i can't seem to be able to fix it. I've been trying to connect to my laptop/desktop using the supplied micro usb and a blackberry micro usb, but it won't let me transfer files. the option to turn on storage doesn't even pop up on the notifications. it charges but thats it. i have all necessary drivers and the USB debugging option is checked. Any info or help would be welcome thanks!!
What O/S are you using?
I had the same problem. No one gave me a problem solving answer

.
USB Debugging should be unchecked and Mass Storage is Checked.
Settings > Phone Storage > Mass Storage only = Checked.
hope this helps.
I've tried that before w no success :-( thanks though

Mine wouldn't connect until i reinstalled the LG T-Mobile G2x drivers and now it mounts every time. The drivers in the updater tool installed the 3.2.1 drivers which is for the G-slate. You need the 2.2 drivers which are for the G2x, if you need them just pm me and i can send them to you.
i deleted and reinstalled the 2.2 drivers with no success. im starting to think there's something wrong with my phone. But it could also be that i'm now running the Gingerbread leak from yesterday. rooted and working perfectly... well almost. i just need to get usb connection working.
Similar issue. This worked for me on Win 7.
Uninstall the LG Drivers and reinstall the G2x 2.2 package from LG.COM /us/support/mc-support/mobile-phone-support.jsp (I can't post links)
Plug the phone in and go to Device Manager. There should be a USB Composite Device that is not properly installed. Right click it and select Update Driver Software.
Select 'Browse my computer', then 'Let me pick'. Choose have disk, and browse to where the LG Drivers are installed. Likely C:\Program Files\LG Electronics\LG United Mobile Driver\ and select lgbus9x.inf.
Then pick LGE Android Platform Composite USB Device from the list of drivers. Should be the top option. Hit next.
I let it sit for a minute while the drivers installed. Some things registered in device manager right away, the LGE USB Modem for one. But, the drives didn't. Unplugged the phone, plugged it back in, and the drives popped up under Portable Devices.
@conspirator_boff i tried ur steps, but i couldn't find the USB Composite Device in the list of the USB Controllers in Device manager. Am i missing a step?
Humm, depending how it is connected it could have a different name. Do you have anything that isn't installed properly?
Also, if you haven't, you might want to look into mother board / system driver updates.
I'm in exactly the same boat. Running on Win 7 64 bit.. tried both 2.3 and 2.2 drivers but no luck. It doesn't get detected AT ALL. Tried with 3 different USB Cable on 3 different ports. I can connect other phones to the same port/cable without any issues.
I suspect there is actually something wrong with the phone or with a specific batch of phones. I googled around and read about a couple (husband and wife) who connected both their G2x's to the same computer on the same port/cable 1 at a time. One always worked, and the other never worked. I believe he eventually returned it and got a new one which worked fine.
We may have ended up with the ones from a bad batch?

I believe so... but why did it happen until now? I've had it since 2 weeks after launch, and this was the first time it happened. I guess ill call CS to get a replacement.

Hmm interesting. I can't say the same for mine since this was the very first time I actually connected it up to the computer. Mine is completely stock and I bought it at launch.
Just to give you guys an update:
I took my G2x to a local T-Mobile store. They tested my phone out on their own computers and it did not mount via USB. They ordered a replacement phone so it is actually an issue for some people and not drivers/system setup. Apparently I was the 3rd case that the store had encountered.
Mine wouldn't connect until i turned USB debugging on, now it connects every time. Might give that a try.

Does not sound good. Several people have fried their phone with bad cables. Your phone still works, so you are lucky there.
I have had a problem with CM7 but not 2.3.3. Again, it does not recognize the connection at all does not sound good. Reboot the phone and try again.
You could go to a TMo store and try connecting with one of their cables - theirs would not be bad junk. This way you would know what the problem is.

[Q] Droid Charge Won't Connect to PC

I have tried installing drivers, tried checking usb-debugging, tried different ports, bought a new usb-charging set, tried other types of cables, tried changing the ask on connect to usb mass storage, tried factory reset.....Nothing works. But I can charge my phone just fine. *sigh* Any advice? haha
So does your phone charge? If so you know its not the port on the phone. Would think it would be drivers or usb port on computer.
Are you trying to use a usb 3.0 port? In my experience they don't work at all.
The phone charges fine. And the USB ports are definitely 2.0 not 3.0.
It's very frustrating. I've never had this problem before when trying to root.
Usually it's oh, I forgot to wipe the delvik cache. Not oh, my phone won't connect to my computer. haha
Try a different computer to make sure the problem can be reproduced first.
Usb buses can have problems.

just tried a different computer and different cables. Both didn't work.
Try using the cable that came with your Charge. I've found mine to be very picky on what cables it will work with, but the original has always worked.
I bought my charge second hand and it didn't come with a cable. I had to buy a stock oem cable for the droid charge on amazon and it doesn't work.
see if you can get into download mode and if odin will recognize it

haha unfortunately ive tried that to. no go
I'm assuming that I got an update pushed last night, because I woke up and my phone works. Case Closed.

Are you talking about OTA update? So your phone is pure STOCK? no rooted, no mod? What version? I thought OTA was done along time ago?
This happened to me before. I used the dialer code that let's you choose pda and I unchecked pda then re checked it. Im at work, maybe someone can post the thread. Good luck.

[Q] Computer Doesn't Recognize Phone but it's charging

So I want to take the pictures off my phone and add some files to the sd card from my computer on my new S3.
I have installed the drivers (but not Kies) and when I plug in my phone, the phone beeps and starts charging but it doesn't show up on My Computer. On my old Rezound, I would get an option to charge only or data but it's not showing up on the S3.
Is there anything special I have to install for my computer to recognize the phone except for the drivers?
changed the cable, from my old one to the Samsung one and it now works

Does your kernel support USB fast charge? If so, it may be enabled.

If it's not the fast charging issue as mentioned above, its most likely your base OS. I was having mounting issues as well, especially on my Mac. The latest K1 JB leak fixed it. I believe the ICS HE release also fixes it.

[Q] GS2 usb port or software problem??

I have a Samsun Galaxy S2 SPH-d710 running ICS 4.0.4 and I cant seem to find out whether the problem is the usb port, or the software?
Problems:
Android OS is running at 33%+
Battery drains fast at times, and charges slow.
If I move the usb cord a tiny but, the charging stops and starts, repeatedly.
My PC cant find the device.
What I did to try to fix it:
Deleted all irrelevant apps
Factory reset the device
Moved the little pin in the USB port up towards the screen
After I tried all of this, the device was fine but the charging still was bad, I still get bad connection within the usb port (when i wiggle the cable it connects briefly or doesnt connect at all)
I called and explained the question to a cell phone repair shop and they said it sounded like a port problem and could be fixed within an hour and charged $55. Good or bad deal? I see higher rates elsewhere.
Do you have varranty? If you do they should replace it for free
